My Grandad is a minister so he married us and in the middle of the ceremony he called me by my mum's name ... not once but twice (he is my mum's dad). He was a bit emotional and cried while he was marrying us. He also married my mum, my aunties and most of my cousins.

DH's Opa's speech that started 'If the boy could produce ...' (referring to DH and his fertility) we were in hysterics after that and didn't hear anymore.

My brothers were sent to pick the frangipanis on the morning of the wedding that the flower girl was going to drop on the aisle and they came back with a bucket of brown, dead fragipani's but then produced the happy healthy ones after I nearly killed them.

My cousins and I have this family tradition at weddings that we 'GROUP HUG' the people getting married (if we are related to them). There are 17 cousins on this side of the family ... but basically someone yells 'GROUP HUG' and we all run over and hug the bride and groom. Since we have all gotten married, our partners have started joining in now too so there are a lot more than 17 of us ... and I plan to teach my kids to GROUP HUG. We have my cousins wedding on the Sunny Coast in 2 weeks and I can't wait for the GROUP HUG. I'm nearly 30 and not feeling too old for it. My Grandad remarried a couple of years ago and we GROUP HUGged him and his wife when they got married too. My aunties all freaked because they thought we were going to kill him, but he was okay. We had GROUP HUGged him at my Grandmother's funeral a couple of years earlier. I'm sure lots of people were shocked because of the occassion but it is what we do and it is special. GROUP HUGs are good for any occassion I got GROUP HUGged at my wedding and it was great!
