Bit of backgroud:
We live 600km away from our families in rural NSW
We are moving to the NT after October this year for work

We want to get Nate blessed/christened before we go as we have no hope in hell of our respective families visiting us up north.
However we are unsure where to organise his ceremony. Plus I wouldn't mind having a party for DH's 35th on the same day.

When we go to Sydney we always stay with my Mum, and she would be more than happy for us to have it at her place after the church. But that would mean long distance arranging of everything, plus travel to Sydney (Nate is a nightmare in the car and we can't afford to fly), DH arranging time off work (he works shifts) and taking over someone elses space. There would be lots of family there but not so many friends.

Or we could have it here in my beautiful new house that hardly anybody has seen. But that would mean everybody else has to travel and stay in a motel (can't make room for all and will not have a spare bed/pick favourites etc). I'm pretty sure my sister would not travel with her family (just cos she wouldn't). There would be a smaller gathering with less family but more friends.

So where would you have it?
