Obviously i am not an EN but a close friend is. She was in aged care but she applied for a job at one of the local hospitals for the post grad program. She's not coping with the hours as she has two young kids so very soon she is looking at getting a job at a medical centre in treatment rooms.
My local hospital hires Div 2 nurses (is that what you mean by enrolled nurse?) on all wards including maternity. The div 2 basically fetches and carries equipment and is a witness for straightforward births instead of having a second midwife there.
I am an RN but when I was working in outpatients casually there was lots of EN's working there Majority of staff were EN and only had 3 RN per day) so was work of assisting drs in things, dressings, wee testing, weight etc. I really enjoyed my time there. Hours were great and other staff all loved it too.
