I think you can demonstrate transferable skills to almost any job, and sometimes if you are from a completely different background to all other applications it will be that extra push to help you stand out from the crowd. One things for sure you'll not get it if you don't apply, I say go for it!
What have you got to lose? Go for it Tan. I think there are many qualities and skills learned from one profession that can be utilised well in another, with the added benefit that you will often bring a different perspective and mind set that someone who has been working in the industry for years may not have.
Thanks ladies! Sometimes I just need a boost! I do have all the skills that they are asking for, just lacking some of the industry knowledge so will put in my app and see how I go!!

Demonstrate how you have the knowledge within your still-sets, then you can state that you've done research on x,y,z and that your skills transfer to similar in a,b,c ways.
Yes I have, I had an IT background and before I moved I was a policy adviser. Right now I'm going through another career change, am working as a project coordinator while I'm studying something completely different.
