    Cost of day care

I wasn't expecting it to be so expensive

I knew it was costly but I didn't think it would be not worth working

Im really really enjoying my job a little bit more than I expected

If work three days and do day care for two of those days(with nannas having them for other day) over half my pay will go to day care

Im trying to work it all out in my head but its just not working...when I started talking about working both my mum and mil were keen to help but now its a reality not so much

Sorry for the big whinge just getting it out my head

When doing your maths on whether it is financially viable/beneficial to go back to work verus the cost of child care have you been taking into account the 50% out of pocket rebate you get? This is the only way it's doable for me to be able to pay for child care.
    That make sense?

is the rebate what is paid to the daycare centre? Im a bit dumb when it comes to this stuff...

we would have to pay $140 for the 2 girls for one day but centrelink pay $29 a day directly to the day care so we pay $110 a day.

The $29 is the CCB and you will also get the CCR which is 50% rebate. You can elect to have it paid to you or direct to centre fortnightly or to you monthly or yearly.

(I hope I have CCB and CCR names around right way)

Have you looked Into Family day care. You pay about $5.50 an hr and then if you qualify for CCB you get that on top so it's great plus the ratio for preschoolers is 1 carer to 4 kidlets.

    Oh that sucks

And yes make sure you get your ccr.
I dont know anything about the others, but the CCR I think is up to about 50% a day, up to $7500 a year per child.

I know my day care is $100 a day or there abouts, and I get half back each fortnight or month (cant remember which) directly from the FAO.
I wont get it for the whole year as its capped at 7500, but its nearly the whole year which is good.
