re-entry to profession

It sounds like your career is important to you, and two months really isnt that long unless there are underlying circumstances that you havent mentioned.
There again, if you wait the two months then TTC, how long would you be taking off for maternity leave, and will this again put you in a position where you need to do further training?

I think I'd wait.

Rowellan - yes, I like the 'whatever happens, happens' approach, and I think we'll take that approach when we do start ttc, whenever that is! I'm usually more of a risk-taker than DH, but then I'm forever putting my cart before my horse, IYKWIM. Thanks for your kindness re: my age It's good to put these things in some perspective - can't do that on your own!

Pandora - you're right, 2 months is not long! The aim is to be able to maintain professional eligibility to practice so I just need to pick up some part-time work between babies, maybe start a private practice, dunno. But if I leave it any later than 2013, I have to go back to Uni and start over completely!

That changes things a bit. I've done a degree so I know what it's like & I definately wouldn't want to start over. In that case, I would probably wait the 2 months. It really won't make much difference in the long run.
