My DH works from home, so not much in the way of travel time!!
He is self employed, and we have made a decision to sacrifice money for him having more time with me and the girls so he generally starts work around 9am and finishes any time from 4pm. It is generally Monday to Friday. The only thing that changes is that he contracts to a US company, and is a computer geek so if they are doing new programme releases or anything then it is generally on weekends, and can be late nights or extremely early mornings to coincide with office downtime in the US or elsewhere around the world - depending on who and where the programme is affecting.
During the week he will take time off for kindy/pre-primary rosters, pick up the kids from school if they have specifically asked for him etc. The only thing he does away from us is golf, and he will play on a Wednesday morning maybe once a month.
DP is self emplyed and his hours can vary but generally he is up and out of the house by 7am (sometimes earlier) and can get home anywhere from 5:30 to 8pm.
He has generally been working 6 days a week but often works 7.
Working for himself does allow some flexibility like being able to start late to drop DD1 off for her first day at kinder, taking yesterday off to do a few things on our boat, register it etc and be there to pick DD1 up from her 2nd day at kinder.
Work around us for b'days and things like that.
he used to work anything from 6days to 6 weeks on, 4 days to 2 weeks off, driving 14 hours a day (resting whenever the timing worked out with his log book!)
DH just negotiated a new roster with his employer. 10hr shifts Mon, Tue , Wed and 8hr shift Sat. So he gets thur, fri and sun off!
He tries to pick up overtime on Fridays
ETA: 10am-8:30pm mon-wed and 9-5 sat. He leaves home about 1.5hrs before his shift starts and gets home 1.5hrs after it ends - 2 buses, train and walk. But sat he takes car only 30min drive each way

DH works Mon to Fri 8am - 5pm
He works every 2nd weekend 9am - 1pm
He is on call during twilight hours and the weekend every 2nd week.
He also travels OS and does tours 3 times a year for 4 weeks at a time.
On his Saturday off he does search and rescue dog training.
So he is a very busy man but makes the most of it when he is home
He is in a team of 3, one is on 4 weeks holidays and the other is pregnant and claims she can't do the work so he is actually working everyday this month. Show me the money
60+ hours per week. 7am till 5.30pm weekdays in theory (but the reality is he more often finishes at 7, 8 or 9pm) with at least one rostered late evening per week. Usually he works one in 4 or so weekends too but it seems he's been lucky with his roster this 6 months and is hardly doing any weekends. 5 weeks leave per year.
Officially, 8-5 m-f, with about an hour travel either way. The past few weeks have been more like 8-6/7 m-f and a few hours sat and sun. This is voluntary, because if he doesn't get the jobs out on time he gets busted, but the timelines for the jobs are ridiculous. So he spends most of his time at work to get these jobs out.
Bitter? Maybe a little. It'd be worth it if they actually acknowledged his efforts.
DH is a high school deputy principal. He starts at 7am (only 15 mins away) and tries to finish at 5. But sometimes meetings go longer or he has paperwork that has to happen that day so he stays, or goes back in after DD is in bed. He also goes in on the weekends for about 4 hours on a Sunday (much more productive time with no kids around!) I find term time pretty full on.
School holidays though are good and he rarely has to go in and he is able to look after DD fulltime then so she gets a nice daycare break.
DH works six weeks overseas then two weeks back at home. what can I say but it sux and the money in my opinion doesnt make up for it and he is missing out on the kids. just having a bad day folks.
we are extremely lucky because DP just works tues-fri 9-5. he only works a 5 min drive away & can make it home for lunch most days. he tends to leave pretty much right on 9 & is home around 5.30. it does mean less money but we're happy with it for the sake of having time together. it also meant that when i was offered some part time work, i could work mondays without needing to find someone to look after DS. once the new baby is about 6 months old, i'm hoping to do a days work a week from home & then move back to the office on a monday so we're covering the full work week between us!
DH works 6am till usually around 3-5pm Mon-Fri, whenever the last job is done. He also has the option to work Sat or sun usually 6:30-12pm He is a truck driver
DH works 5-2/3 mon, tues fri sat sometimes the days change but that's his normal roster. He gets bored easily and loves to do odd jobs for people on his days off! Oh except for the odd jobs I want him to do! Takes him about 40 mins to get to work
He's *supposed* to work 9 hour days, M-F (8:30-5:30pm) but.... his boss is flexible on times, so he usually does about 6am-3pm, in theory. In practise, he gets in anywhere from 5am and often stays til after 3:30pm. There's usually a bit of work at home too, and he travels on occasion (a couple of days a month maybe). Travel time is horrendous - 1.5 hours to work, 2-3 hours to get home, depending on traffic.
I'm with Boo Boo - the money doesn't make up for the fact that we only get weekends together, and most of that is spent catching up on the 'jobs' that don't get done during the week. It's a high stress job too. I'd rather have less money and more quality time...

At this stage DF works Mon-Fri. He leaves at either 5:45am or 6:30am depending if he is going to the gym before work or not, and gets home at either 3:45pm or 4:30pm, again depending on if he he is going to the gym after work.
We're hoping that he'll soon be going to 4 days on, 4 days off, 12 hour shifts. Will mean a significant pay rise, but will also mean he's home half the time which is a big part of why he took the job in the first place
DP works a week of early shift then a week of late shift. The early shifts start times can vary from 4am to 11am and finish anywhere between 11am and 6pm. The late shifts start times can vary between midday and 6pm, finishing anywhere between 6pm and 1am.
So, absolutely all over the shop and no week is ever the same which completely does my head in.
His days off vary, he could work three days and have a day off or work eight days before having a day off. He usually works at least one day of the weekend plus public holidays.
