DH's job isn't physically demanding, it would also be high way driving which at those hours shouldn't be very busy at all BUT it is a high incident hwywhich has me slightly concerned!

I've done it (as a single parent) for 4 years. I used to drive to my Dad's (25min) drop off the kids (5-10min) drive to the station (10min) and catch the train (16min) to work. Total of just over an hour - as long as the train was there, waiting. Otherwise it could be longer.
I just moved closer to the kids' school and now travel (walking 25 mins by choice, rather than drive 5) to the station and catch the train (16mins) to work. Life is SO much better. I can get to work in just over 20 mins if I have to. Amazing.
