Hooray, I made it to 20000starting to feel confident again!

Hooray, I made it to 20000starting to feel confident again!
argh why is it the minute I decide to do some at work we get busy!!!!!!!!!!!!! So none done today at all - will get stuck in over the weekend, right now I'm on my way out
well done, jelly!!! you're on your way
no good, sop ... but maybe tonight will give you some awesome inspiration, and you'll be up all night.
writing.
haha - I spent all afternoon writing letters about stupid occupy melbourne - I think I was up to 20 before I got roped into doing secret squirrel stuff for 2 hours
Nah no chance of that brain not working, but I know we'll be having really full-on in-depth conversations which may be used in the story later on.
No app, but there's an excellent book called 'Writing through the Darkness' by EM Schaefer that you might find helpful in the place you're in. The book is about using various writing techniques in the context of depression but is also very useful re writing as a healing practice in a broader sense too.
Well done ladies, and KEEP GOING!
I'm the only one in the office today, so have pulled up my story and going to write as much as I can today (of course work takes precedence so will do what I need to do there and write around my workload)
I've also started jotting down ideas for two totally unrelated books that have been floating around in my head for a while.
Eeeeeeeeeeh 29746 words! Getting closer to caught up now and only have to write 2000 a day from now on. Considering I've had a few 3-5k days in a row, feeling pretty good
Hope you got a bunch done today Sopdet!
argh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Just after I wrote the post about getting stuff done, got hit with a pile of work, have written about 1,000 words today on the story and about 6,000 words for work (would be so nice if I could include every single brief & letter I have to write into my word count!!!!)
Doh! How are you going now?
I'm just about to hit 40k so right back on schedule but considering no weekend during the month have I done more than 500 words, I'm going to try and keep pushing out a little bit of a buffer. Story isn't anywhere close to complete though which is a bit disheartening, I figure it will be around 70-80k when done. I read back some things I had written though and impressed myself haha funny how you forget what comes out sometimes...
Anybody still out there? I've just passed the 45k mark and am on the home stretch. As predicted I did nothing over the weekend but had a 3k day yesterday and hoping for a similar one today... I'd really like to buckle down and bang out the entire 5k today just to be DONE although not really done since the story still has a bit to go! I just want my purple 'validated and complete' bar haha.
Eeeeeek I'm going to do this yay!
you go girl!!!
monster effortyou'll make it easily, now
we salute you.
Just hit 50153 this morning![]()
JF, that's FREAKIN awesome! Well done!!!![]()
JF congratulations!
Thanks! Feeling pretty chuffed
There is still about 20-30k to go until the draft is finished so I'm hoping to bang out that before the baby arrives (34 weeks so could be as little as 4 weeks or as long as 8, DD came at 38 weeks but that doesn't really mean much in the way of planning haha) and then can spend the next year editing while dealing with newborn antics and toddler wrangling... realistic?? Guess I will see how I go, no real pressure but now that I've come so far I would like to get it done, done even if it takes me a while... I'm 50k ahead of where I was a month ago right![]()

The Monthly Catch
The General Publishing team at Penguin Group (Australia) is keen and excited to read new work from Australian authors, and as such we’ve developed the Monthly Catch. For the first week of every month, we throw our doors open to unsolicited manuscripts. In this time period (the 1st to the 7th of every month), please send through submissions based on the guidelines below.
We are only accepting submissions electronically – all hardcopy submissions will be recycled. And we are only accepting submissions in the first week of every month; anything that comes through outside of this time will not be considered.
When you send through your submission, you’ll receive an automatic email acknowledging receipt. All manuscripts are carefully read and assessed, but we can only respond to those who are successful. If we do not contact you within three months of submission, please assume that we have decided not to pursue your manuscript. No further correspondence will be entered into.
We are not currently considering poetry, educational textbooks or plays/scripts. For books for children and young adults, please see the separate submissions instructions below.
Attach your manuscript and a short synopsis (of no more than 300 words) as separate Word documents and send via email to monthly dot catch at au dot penguingroup dot com
