YOu can't change the winds but you can change the sails
and
Your past does not have to equal your future.
The quote in my sig. Reminds me to just let go and stop stressing myself out so much.
It's what you learn after you know it all that counts!
and
I am not my job, i am not my bank account, i am what is inside of me!
Wow there all beautiful its amazing how we can come across some of the sayings/quotes right wen we need to the most i remember coming across the one in my sig and it couldnt have been a perfect time then that now i have it there to remind me . hopefully sharing these we to might pick up some and help someone else that might need them![]()
I love the quote in your sig!!
my favs are:
"Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away."
"Love me more when you hate me the most."
Change is a process, not an event. - ?
"You have caused confusion and delay" - The Fat Controller
"I just want to be really useful engine" - Thomas The Tank Engine
Eat more vegetables. - Me
Do more exercise. - Me
GO TO BED! - My DH
"We do not inherit the earth from our ancestors, we borrow it from our children." - Native American Proverb
one I read has stuck with me
He who angers you controls you
My Dad has always said to us "if it doesn't kill you, it'll make you stronger" - especially when he was trying to get us to eat something new (I still can't believe Chinese was something I didn't want to try - now I can't get enough of it).
So when I'm faced with difficulties or trying something new I always think of Dad and what he said. Its a bit morbid, but I tend to think of it as "what is the worst that can happen" (ITMS?)
My favourite is the Prayer for Serenity (although I am not religious)
God grant me the serenity
To accept the things I cannot change
Courage to change the things I can
And wisdom to know the difference
This is a fantastic thread, I just love quotes that have meaning, I have just finished writing them all down, Thanks
And I would like to add one of my special quotes that I found when I was getting married 7 years ago.
" To the world you are someone, But to someone you are the world"
Mel - never heard of the Desiderata, but am now looking into it as I really love that quote!
My favourite is 'Adversity does not build character, but reveals it'.
Its a beautiful poem. All of it has made me stop and think for a while. For anyone interested - here's a link Desiderata
"This too shall pass" - gets me through the tough times
"If not now, then when?" - makes me stop procrastinating and do things, also makes me think about opportunities and making the most of them.
Wow Arimeh that was absolutly beautiful
this part really struck a cord in me
"As far as possible, without surrender,
be on good terms with all persons.
Speak your truth quietly and clearly;
and listen to others,
even to the dull and the ignorant;
they too have their story.
Avoid loud and aggressive persons;
they are vexatious to the spirit."
It's great isn't it Emma? I also love "Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune" because it reminds me that I am strong enough to deal with whatever the universe throws at me. And nothing is too difficult or too big for me to overcome![]()
