    Smile What are the quotes/sayings that have helped you through and that you live by?

    Another thread got me thinking, about what quotes have helped me get me through tough times and have helped me to keep going and i was wondering if anyone wanted to share the ones that have helped them? and why

    My Dad has always said to us "if it doesn't kill you, it'll make you stronger" - especially when he was trying to get us to eat something new (I still can't believe Chinese was something I didn't want to try - now I can't get enough of it).

    So when I'm faced with difficulties or trying something new I always think of Dad and what he said. Its a bit morbid, but I tend to think of it as "what is the worst that can happen" (ITMS?)

    so so true i agree i say that.

    also say suck it up self growth will come as a result of doing it

    always trust and rely in a aself then you can never feel disapointed in others

    i also say you allways need to live with your actions and desition's so make them right.

    My favourite is the Prayer for Serenity (although I am not religious)

    God grant me the serenity
    To accept the things I cannot change
    Courage to change the things I can
    And wisdom to know the difference

    This is a fantastic thread, I just love quotes that have meaning, I have just finished writing them all down, Thanks

    And I would like to add one of my special quotes that I found when I was getting married 7 years ago.

    " To the world you are someone, But to someone you are the world"

    Mel - never heard of the Desiderata, but am now looking into it as I really love that quote!

    My favourite is 'Adversity does not build character, but reveals it'.

    "This too shall pass" - gets me through the tough times

    "If not now, then when?" - makes me stop procrastinating and do things, also makes me think about opportunities and making the most of them.

    Wow Arimeh that was absolutly beautiful
    this part really struck a cord in me

    "As far as possible, without surrender,
    be on good terms with all persons.
    Speak your truth quietly and clearly;
    and listen to others,
    even to the dull and the ignorant;
    they too have their story.
    Avoid loud and aggressive persons;
    they are vexatious to the spirit."

    It's great isn't it Emma? I also love "Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune" because it reminds me that I am strong enough to deal with whatever the universe throws at me. And nothing is too difficult or too big for me to overcome
