I was going to type "morning girls" and then looked at the clock and it is well and truly afternoon! Where has the day gone?!
Rachel, I have just bought the Nuk dummy for Thomas so hopefully (when we have to use it) he will take to it a bit better than the Tommee Tippee one. It was a good idea being a smaller teat, but it just wouldn't stay in his mouth. Thomas also has had a massive breakout of spots - in fact, I was a bit worried yesterday morning, but they seemed to calm down by the afternoon and today they are certainly less.
Heather, I also use the Avent brand of bottles and teas for expressing BM (and also their microwave sterilising kit and breast pump). Thomas took to it first go and I must admit, I didn't even know that babies rejected bottle teats until a friend asked if he took it ok and then told me that a lot of babies won't drink from boob to bottle and then return. I would also reccomend the Avent range largely because you can get the stuff in Safeway/Woolworths and also at the chemists. I had to go and buy a couple more smaller bottles because I froze some BM in the ones that came with the breast pump.
Megan, I have just had professional photos taken of Thomas, but am yet to see the results. Yours look fantastic. I hope ours look just as good. We are intending to make a montage (is that how you spell it??) of photos to give to the grandparents for Christmas. The frame will include photos from when I was pregnant through to Thomas at about 5mths.
Shannon, I can't remember if I already asked this (and maybe you have chosen not to answer if I have already asked it, which is ok BTW), but I was wondering about what the story is behiond Jess' health concerns and why she is seeing a nureosurgeon etc... But whatever the reason, it is good news that things are looking up for her!
Bloody nightmare morning this morning here. I dunno what was up, but the lad wouldn't relly settle after his 7.30am feed, so I ended up giving him a bath at 10.30am and giving him (another!) feed and he eventually went down. However, he is having a rather restless sleep. Great! And we have the mum's group today and the topic is....."settling babies" would you believe it??!!! LOL.
Left nipple is now getting worse. I can barely stand Thomas to feed off it. I think the Daktarin gel actually dries the nipple out bit which is probably fixing any thrush, but murder on the cracked nipple bit! God is there ANY relief in sight???? The nurse doing the session today is actually my lactation consultant so I'll be able to catch up with her. But I am going to have to express for the next few feeds off it. Too painful otherwise. I'm nearly in tears at feeding time. I really don't want to give up on the BFing thing because I am a really good cow - am making lots of milk. DH would be proud to have me in the herd!!! LOL.
Someone asked me if I had managed to finish my thesis before Thomas came along. Well, yes I did and I am very happy that I did seeing as I seem to have NO time to do anything other than look after the baby, and do basic hygiene stuff for myself. Just getting back into the cooking etc since the c-section. I honestly don't know how you girls with toddlers or older children do it. How do you fit everything in?? Does it get easier??
Well, best push off. I have barely ventured into any other threads on the site since Pup's arrival, so apart from what is going on in here, I have no idea how others are going. I don't know who's pg, who's had a baby and haven't even thought about venturing back into the AO forum.
