And as for age - I've got another 10 years of breeding left in me - just poor old shane shouldn't be a 50 year old with a new born. Doesn't seem fair somehow.
Shane was just jiggling Jenna and talking to her (in a good way) and she giggled so much!!! I was talking to Mum on the phone, and we were cacking ourselves laughing!
Yum - I've just had a pile of blue cheese. It will no doubt affect missy moo, and her wind will get worse, but oh well. It tasted SOOOO good going down!! A glass of red would be perfect right now!

Had an appointment with the Maternal Child health nurse this afternoon. She asked if Erykah was a fast drinker and did she end up coughing
Well funny she asked cos I was gonna tell her I was worried as she comes off the breast sometimes in coughing fits, unable to breathe as if the milk has gone down the wrong pipe.
She said that this was my milk coming too fast and her drinking. She is getting too much of the fore milk which is rich in sugar which her enzymes are unable to digest which then in turn sits in her tummy fermenting into gas. Hence the sleepless nights.
I have to express milk before I feed her and if she wants to feed within 2 hours of the last feed use the same breast. When put her down to sleep I have to put her on her side with cushions either side of her to ensure she can't roll and have the bassinett at 30 degree angle (already did that).
I hope this helps solve our problems. Wonder how long it will take to see results could do with a night of sleep.
Oh and she has put on 1lb in weight in 2wks. She is thriving on my milk it seems. Bless her.
Oh well she is safely asleep for now and when she wakes I will bath her as she loves a bath and a massage. Who wouldn't.

I love this time of night when everyone else is asleep :)
I should be too but havent been able to sleep the last few nights, was so thankful that hubby woke up Mason this morning and fed him before work so he didnt wake me till nearly 9am.
Thanks for the comments on Luke's poem, he wanted to add wee to it as well, but i thought it would be getting carried away lol. I have printed it out and going to add it to Mason's album that i have made so they can laugh about it later.
At least his smile is back now that he is over the flash of the camera incident, and he is just starting to try and laugh so that is cute.
Just watched a story on the news about lullabies, and how Mum's singing beats out the electronic stuff, and the tone of the mothers voice is the fastest thing to calm them down, was interesting.
I dont shutup talking and singing so i am probally creating another Luke, who is happy to admit he talks way too much.
On another note i am so nervous about bringing up the TTC with hubby, i know he wont care but i think once he is agreeable it will be all too real, kinda scary really. Its on the tip of my tongue so no doubt i will just blurt it out to him very soon.

Good morning all!
Wow...another night of SLEEP!!! Just as well too....'cos I'm getting this horrible flu. Hopefully sleeping well will help me fight it off.... Hannah slept for 6 hours for the first time ever. I got up at 5 hours and started worrying (silly, silly!). It's funny...I've been begging her to sleep and when she does I get all worried that there's something wrong! Babies are so erratic and unpredictable with their routines...one day it's one thing, and the next they're doing the opposite. Guess it keeps us mums on our toes...
She's in her swing at the moment, fast asleep. Ahhhh....gotta love her.
Shannon - hope you can sort out Jess' sleeping a bit. Hannah was doing that all last week. Just stuffing around when she woke up in the night. Take advantage of the time to nap, and all the best for your 6 week check.
Belinda - I bet Luke and Mason will have a ball reading through that poem in the future. You'll have to have Luke read it to him at his 18th or 21st! Glad Mason has decided it's safe to smile again. I just can't get enough of Hannah's smiles. I saw that news story re: the lullaby singing too. I need to learn some more calming type songs...I usually sing Hannah all the funny ones I know, and it just gets her excited (my favourite is "Little bunny foo foo" - did anyone else learn that as a kid? Very cute.)
Jo - Hannah's a fast drinker too, and tends to cough in the first part of a feed. Little piggies! I hope the expressing is the answer, and that you and little Erykah get a good nights sleep soon. At least you know she's thriving on your milk. It is so satisfying to see them growing and you know that it's your milk making them grow!
Nell - You've got a few years yet to pop out a few more! Your mod profile says you're keen on having four! That's the number Tim and I have picked out too....seems like a good size for a family. Better get cracking...

I`m down in Sydney for the day and so much has happened here.
Shannon - Good Luck with your 6 week appointment, as you saw I just had mine last week at 8.5 weeks as when I rang and asked for my appointment in 2 weeks (Matthew was 4 weeks at the time) the receptionist said it would be when Matthew is 2 months, later I gatherede my OB must like to see his women at 8 weeks in the hope they have stopped bleeding but as it turned out I had AF and was still bleeding, I told him that but he said a little bit of blood doesn`t worry him so I had my pap done plus he checked to see if my pelvic floor was aok, is this a normal routine checking the pelvic floor???? Yes Mark`s Dad death is still unsolved, perhaps I hadn`t mentioned it with everything else going on - Ken has just taken up spear fishing in the last 18 months and the day he died he was going to come with Mark`s Mum to see us but at the last minute decided to go spear fishing as he hadn`t been for a few days due to the weather conditions anyway at first we were told that he possibily died of a heart attack but the autopsy showed no cause of death at all so it was then in the coroners hands where we were told that he had a mark on his forehead and some bruising on the back of his head, maybe from a boat hitting head, so this all went to the media looking for the owners of a yellow boat seen in the area, the owners did come forward but aren`t sure if they hit him or not, the other possibilty is that Ken had an epilectic fit and drown and hit his head on the rocks - nothing adds up to us as for one Ken`s not an epilectic, he doesn`t venture too far out to where the boats are and is always very careful, so as you can see it`s all unsolved. Sorry about the long details.
Joh - Welcome to the 1 - 3 month thread. Matthew does the same coughs after each feed and often when he`s just starting off, he drinks quickly plus I`ve also got a fast let down, he`ll be finished in 10 minutes but he`s also got a bit of reflux it doesn`t worry him but when it comes back out he decided he`s hungry again and back to feeding we go.
Belinda - Luke`s poem is beautiful. Let us know about your TTC plans. Mark left it all up to me but made it quite clear he wants more, I`m now at the stage where I`m really excited about having another one, I really miss being pregnant.
Fi and Nell - I had to laugh when you both have mentioned X amount of breeding years you have left that`s how we talk about our female cats :D , talking about that we got the bill in for our cat`s c/s and we were totally horrified at the price, it added a few more grey hairs!!!!!
Fi - Mark also mentioned to me he doesn`t want to be 50 with a young baby but that will be impossible with me as we`re 7 years apart, can`t see me having a newborn at 43. How cute of Jenna giggling such a lot.
My topic review doesn`t allow me to go back any further so I hope everyone is well and babies are well and hopefully sleeping.
Matthew has his 2 month needles tomorrow, my poor baby boy, brought some Panadol for him so will give him some before we leave.
We had a good trip to Sydney and back yesterday, Matthew is a very good boy in the car, I thought we better make the effort and see my Mum and her BF, our relationship will never be the same again after how much she has hurt me but as I say to Mark I can forgive but can`t forget and I want to make the effort for Matthew`s sake, anyway we had a fairly good day but Mum did make me a bit upset, we mentioned to her about SIDS and how your suppose to lay them on their back but the problem is the babies will develop a bit of a flat head like Matthew has, her comment was she wondered why his head was shaped like that and said she`d be sleeping him on his side, so now I feel like I`ve been doing the wrong thing and he should be on his side, his head isn`t too bad and I`ve read that once he`s up and about it will go back into position but if it doesn`t you have to let the Dr know by 12 months of age. So am I doing the wrong thing or not???

Well i have had a good day, Luke went to a friends place for a few hours and Mason slept most of the time he was gone, Luke's friend cried when Luke had to go, thought that was sweet.
This morning he screamed through most of my shower though, but cant win them all :)
Deeanne: Like Shannon said dont doubt yourself, and although its hard to just forget comments ppl say try to not let them take up too much of your time.
Shannon: Hope your checkup went well, have to organise mine too i guess, but dont want to go to my doctor if they look at your stitches and stuff, just dont feel comfortable with him going there lol. What do they actually do for it anyway?
And also your doctor must be wondering about the results she keeps getting like you said.

It'd be a pretty crazy household with 6 kids - but fun. I'd like heaps of kids, but I guess I have to think about what we can realistically afford! 4 seems do-able. All the best for tomorrow & Matthew's immunisations. I am dreading taking Hannah in a couple of weeks.
re: the SIDS thing & sleeping on their backs...I've been told the same thing - that their heads won't stay flat and once they're more mobile they should go back to a normal shape. It's definately more of a hazard to lay them on their front or sides than having a bit of a flat head for a while. You're doing the right thing according to all the SIDS guidelines. Your Mum obviously isn't up with the latest research and recommendations. My Mum put Hannah to sleep on her side once when I went to visit her in Brissy. I flipped when I saw it. I was made to feel like I was being too obsessive and a worry-wart...but as far as I am concerned you can never be too careful and if there is anything I can do to reduce the risks I will do it!!! Anyhow - you're a great Mum and you're doing the right thing.

Well I got my baby back the one who sleeps etc etc...
We had a much better night with Erykah and she woke at midnight, 2 and 6:30. It was much quicker getting her back down as there was less wind causing her pain.
Her tummy has gone down loads. We couldn't get her to sleep in her bassinet but she was happy sleeping on her side in the rocker.
She is now back to her 4 hourly feeding pattern and I feel like a new woman as I had a decent nights sleep. As does DH.
Just been on a shopping spree and she was a little angel.

Right - sleeping on the side. We didn't at first, but now I do all the time. She sleeps so much better its unbelievable, and its much easier to resettle her when she isn't looking at me. We have little bumpers against her tummy and back, and I'm OK with it. The MCHN has OK'd too as she has pletny of air and she is being supported.
Dee - great to see you back. You've been AWOL a couple of days. Love you Av too by the way! How concerning about your FIL. Do you think it will ever be figured out?
Belinda - I've had a pretty constructive day too!! The nappies dried on the line cause it was such a nice day here. I lvoe it when they get out there, it seems to make them fresher. And I've done the housework too as I still have a cripple non my hands..... Grrr....
Juliette - yay on the good sleep. We on the other hand had a crap night. Jenna had her first night wakeup for ever - a 4am feed followed. She is really windy, and wouldn't settle. We ended up giving her water last night, and Shane let her drink 100mls!! I have to admit, I feel like a pretty bad mum otday, but oh well - no point beating myself up about something in the past!
Jo - I have a similar fast let down with Jenna coughing. I tried asking the MCHN and midwives about it, and whether it caused her wind, but noone could ever give me a straight answer! Thanks for yours. It makes sense, but the good news is, my supply has settled down so much now, so there is hope for you too! Mind you - it took 2.5 months!!!!!
Hope your Drs appt went well shannon - I think its almost time for me to book another as my stitches are still really sore. I've given it 3 months, so I'm surprised it hasn't got better. So much for TTCing when I'm too scared for anything to go near there!

Fi - Yay @ getting a bit done today. Gabby woke up last night too! Must have been in the air. Bummer about your stitches still hurting. Hope the doc can help you on that front.
Jo - yay @ getting better sleeps. It always feels better when you can get back to some kind of routine.
Dee - all the others have told you exactly what I was going to say - you are doing everything right. Most babies will get a funny shape to their head from laying flat but that's just because everything is so soft. It will all go back. Don't doubt yourself - you are a good mother :) Notice, too, that a lot of babies have a little bald patch at the back of their head from rubbing on the blankets? Sorry to hear about the controversy around your FIL's death. That's a lot of pressure. I hope they can find an answer soon so that Mark can have a bit of closure.
Belinda - well done on your constructive day! Maybe coming in here will mean some motivation from you will rub off on me?? ;)

Shannon - lol at getting 4 or 5 in! EEkkk, we've built a 4 bedroom home with only 2 in mind, suppose we could fit one more. I would love to have 4 but if I had started younger. Hmmm... having 4 under 4 just doesn't appeal to me! I have no preference to being called Nell or Janelle. :) I changed the sig so it matched the profile on the main site so people knew that Nell was short for Janelle. Nell is easier to type and all my friends call me Nell, so Nell is fine. Thanks for asking though! Do people call you Shan? :-k Just wondered.....

He was in shock that i even bought it up, as i think he thought i would be the last person ever to want to go there again, and i thought i would be too! But anyway he went to bed in shock so will leave him with his thoughts for awhile. And believe it or not, now i have said it to him out loud i am now thinking do i really want another one?? But i am a woman so i can change my mind at anytime:) If i mention we got a dog then you know the outcome LOL....

Shannon - yeah, I've heard of those block thingies, I haven't been able to source one up here though...maybe they're on the 'net somewhere. I will have a bit of a look. Hannah does seem to like being on her side when she can, but I've been forcing her to sleep on her back 'cos I don't have anything like that to make sure she stays on her side. The tetra tea tree flakes mattress sounds cool. Way to go on Jessalyn's weight gain. Hannah gets weighed again today. My dr didn't do a pap smear at my 6 wk check. I was kinda expecting to have to do one 'cos I had an abnormal one a couple of years ago and have to have them more frequently now. I just hate them!! At least you can relax now for 2 years!

Hannah and I are ok today. Though DH left the house thismorning forgetting that it's my birthday (26 today...). Oh well...the day isn't over so hopefully he will redeem himself when he gets back from work. I'm not a fan of birthdays...but I kinda expect him to remember!

Well I don't know what was wrong last night really but she slept from 9 till 10 then fed loads and I finally got her to settle at 12pm.
She then woke at 3:30am and fed loads again but did not resettle till 6am. I was at my wits end cos I'd get her to sleep then she would wake up even though she was on her side and I was doing everything the nurse told me.
She has got on top of the wind and seems to have no trouble getting it up with little effort from me. However she was still going red in the face and seemed to have trouble farting but got relief once she got them out. They were big ones poor thing.
She then slept till 10:45 so I feel like I got a good amount of sleep eventually.
Hope she is better tonight.

Juliette: you can get the buffer things in kmart, target etc or in any baby store, they are about 30 dollars. Safe and sound is one brand of them, i use that in Masons bassinet.

On the topic of forgetting, We forgot our wedding anniversary this year, with a baby around i think its easy to do.
Had a bad morning this morning, woke up to screaming, gggrrr, thought alarm clocks were bad but i think i would rather be woken up by one of them, refused to get up because he had been fed etc, so just kept putting dummy in until he gave in and slept, then got me up at 9am so wasnt too bad. He will soon realise like Luke that mum is not a happy morning person...

Shannon - we have the same mattress as you. Yay @ Jessalyn`s weight, glad you got indefinate referrals for her. Yay for getting the pap smear over and done with, I`ve had 3 in 2 years and I`m sure if I did get pg soonish there will be another one next year. I`ve also found that male Dr`s seem to be more gentle about doing them then female Dr`s - have others found this? Did your Dr test your pelvic floor? I`m just curious because I`d never heard of them doing so and was quite shocked when my OB tested mine last week. Lol at Corey`s response about #4.
Belinda - I had to laugh at your DH`s response about another baby, your certainly right us women can change our mind whenever we feel like it.
Nell - yes Matthew`s hair started falling out a few weeks ago but I`m still paranoid about his head, your right that my MCHN would have mentioned something if she was worried plus my OB thoroughly checked him over yet again on Friday and didn`t mention it. Actually we didn`t even know it was going to be broadcast over the TV about my FIL, MIL rang up after she saw it plus we got a phone call from Mark`s X saying can she PLEASE be told next time so the boys don`t see it, I tried telling her we didn`t know. I forgot to ask my MCHN about a Mother`s group so I rang the clinic and asked the MCHN who answered the phone she didn`t seem to think there was a Mother`s group in my area, I`d like to go to one so I`ll ask my MCHN when I see her she might be able to tell me if there is one or not. Nell your only 18 months older then me (your b/day is the same day as Mark`s sister) so I`m sure you can fit 4 in!!!! Our renovations haven`t even been started and I tell you we`re running out of room fast.
Deb - It sure is hard to keep up on all the threads, I try to read them but often can`t post everywhere I`d be here all day. Yes Matthew has a baldy spot.
Fi - I don`t think they will ever figure out what happened to Ken. You better go and get your stitches checked out, let us know how you get on.

Just got back from a walk down to the dairy and back with my 3 boys, it`s a 4km walk. Matthew went to sleep and is still just out the back door quite happy in his pram. Poor darling Matthew he`s going to wonder what has hit him this afternoon, hopefully we don`t get too much of a reaction from the needles.

My poor little man isn`t a happy chappy, he was not impressed by his jabs, he`s had a little sleep and is starting to stir now.
I`ve got a very painful arm today, I don`t know what I`ve done as I woke up in the early hours of this morning with it aching and it kept waking me up, the pain is in my left elbow which radiates down to my fingers but feels a bit numb as it gets down towards my fingers, Mark thinks it`s Matthew, surely not, I`ve got a lot more lugging around to do yet.

I decided not to remind him and see if he remembered. He remembered this arvo and rang me from work. No pressies though. End of the pay fortnight, and not a lot of forethought went into my birthday this year apparently! No worries. I'm not really that keen on birthdays anyhow. At least he remembered! I'll settle for a foot massage, and a bit of time off from Hannah duties (apart from feeding obviously!) I bought myself a camenbert. some crackers, and some chocolate. I've heard that yummy food has no calories on your birthday.
Our appt. with the CHN went well today. Hannah has put on another 360g. I can't believe it. Little chubber. She seems to be working toward a third chin.

Cant really chat. Trying to sort out Shane's workcover. Unfortunately (in some ways) it looks like he has to go back to work next week. Porblem is, we dont have any way of getting him there and back as he can't drive, and I really dont think its fair to get Jenna up every morning to get him to work.
We shall see what the insurance company says.
Jo - it soudns like you and I have very similar babies. Jenna had a terrible time with wind for many weeks, but it has settled down alot now. Fingers crossed for you.
Dee - Sounds a bit like carpal tunnel. I got a little bit from feeding her I think and holding all her weight on my bad wrist. Perhaps you need to change your bfding hold??
Juliette - Happy belated birthday. Hope you had a lvoely day. If all else fails, just roll up a bunny rug nice and tight, and use that as a buffer. It works just as well.
Shannon - yay on the pap smear!! J/K...... Yeah I had an episiotomy, I'm wondering if maybe they stitched me further than usual. You know that old joke about the man asking for an extra stitch??? So bad taste.

Just popping in to let you know we are ok.
Kimberley has been very sick and has wanted cuddles all the time then i could her cold.
Alex is doing okay still waking at night but only twice now.

Shannon - I really didn`t do too many PF with Matthew but they are obviously ok. Yes I find that with the mattress as well, so I`m just putting flat sheets on but otherwise they are great. Glad that Jess`s liver function isn`t getting any worse. We`ve got another week of school holidays here but the boys go back to their Mum on Sunday morning for the rest of the holidays.
The boys are so good with Matthew, Michael wanted to dress him last night so I stood by and let him and Alister is asking me how many children do I want, I haven`t given him an answer as yet but they do know we`re talking about #2, he goes on to say that Matthew needs company and he wants a new car. Alister also told me yesterday that he loves Matthew even though he would have liked a sister but he said Matthew is sooooooooooooo cute :D They are just beautiful.
Thought Matthew was going to have a bad night last night, he was grizzly until 9.30 then slept until 5am so that was ok.

Well I feel refreshed. Went on my Mums with Prams walk this morning (yep - I actually made it out of the house this time!). It does make you feel so much better when you spend a bit of time outside (lovely day today too).
Dee - I was thinking it sounds like carpal tunnel too...I had it really bad in pg, and I still have a little tingling left. If it's right up to your elbow it could also be Ulnar tunnel syndrome. It depends on which fingers it's affecting. If it's the thumb, index, and middle fingers (sometimes with the ring finger too) it's carpal tunnel. If it's the little finger and ring finger it could be ulnar tunnel. Not much fun in either case. Hope it clears up for you soon!
Shannon - good to hear Jess' LFT came back stable. She seems to be coming ahead in leaps an bounds in every other way. Hannah's 360g was for one week. She's putting on between 270g and 370g each week. Seriously chubby. She is now 5360g at 6 weeks - well and truely out of newborn sized nappies!

Michelle - Sorry to hear you're not well. It's a terrible season for colds, flu, and coughs. Hope Kimberly is feeling better now.
Fi - It would be pretty tough having to take Shane to work each morning and try to fit that in with Jenna's routine - does she sleep well in the car? I hope you can sort something out...is there anyone who works with him and lives near you? Hope the insurance company is helpful.

I don't believe it typed a really long reply and then somehow deleted it.
I had a really bad night and cried most of the day. Went to the doctors who suspects reflux and has said I need to be strict on her settling and let her cry to sleep.
It has worked so I am heading to bed. I need more than 4hours sleep tonight as I am shattered.

Jo - Don't listen to the drs when they say things like that!!!!! Newborns just wont self settle (well if you're lucky they might!). Jenna now at nearly 3 months is only just starting too, and only when she is relaxed. Reflux babies have such a hard time in bed when they are upsetas it burns their poor little throats.
You stick by your guns, and follow your instincts, cause that Dr isn't coming to look after your baby for you day after day after day!!!! Babies this age like lots of cuddles, and you wont spoil the little darling. Give it all the love you can, and dont be strict - they just dont understand. And your crying will stop too. Give that time. I've only just started to get my emotions together, and I still have bad days. Its such an experience, and no wonder we shed a few tears. Sorry about the bad night. Think of it this way - take 2 great nights, 2 terrible nights, and 3 average nights in a week. If you've had a bad one, a good one is just around the corner. Hugs to you, you are a great mum, and you are doing a wonderful job!!
Wow Juliette!! Hannah is a chubby bubby!! Jenna is the same weight, and is twice the age!! Whatever you are doing must be working well. Congrats for you! Are you or your DH/DP tall??
Dee - sounds like you will miss the boys with one hand, and be happy to have some time to yourself with the other. I'm very jealous Mark's kids get to play with Matthew. i wish Jenna could meet her brothers and sister, but that aint going to happen anytime soon. How nice they want a sister too!! Hopefully the little spermies oblige you next time around!
Shannon - great that Jess is putting on the weight too. And, at least she isn't going backwards. I still have to answer your last PM - I haven't forgotten, just haven't got around to it yet!!
Michelle - I hope you have enought cuddles to give both your bubbies. Yay on only 2 wakeups!!
As for me? Well lots of netball today, which was nice. One of my girls played up last week in U17s and got best for them, so that was really exciting for me. Unfortunately I can't take alot of credit for someone elses skills......
Shane's current employer has said he has no work for shane at only 10% capacity, so he will be off work for about 4 weeks. Not sure how happy I am..... He's already driving me spastic, but it is nice to have another hand about the house. The previous employer's insurance company is having to pick up the bill, but they are only obliged to pay at 1996 rates when the injury occured, which is about half of what he gets now. So things will be very tight unless Lara is definitly sold. I should know by my birthday! So happy birthday to me lets all hope.

phew.. sorry i havent been around much.. way too many personals to catch up on so ill just do a bit bout how were going and catch up later, ill try and come in more often but at the moment ive only been bothered to do a couple of posts at a time.. u know how it is lol
well were doing ok, chloe was weighed last monday and she weighed 5.760kilos which is pretty good, shes on the 90th percentile, her weight gain is starting to slow down now though..
had her 2 mths immunsation on monday too and she was not happy, it was so sad when the needle wnet in she was ok then the bottom lip went and then she started bawling, felt so sorry for her, as i did with josh too :( shes been pretty grumpy since but shes back to sleeping through.. phew .. it was a nightmare being used to her sleeping through then her being unsettled, so very glad shes back to semi normal.
she holds her head for a about 2 mins at a time and is starting to turn it while holding it herself (she can turn it when lying on the floor with ease) but she looks like a robot when holding ehr head up and turning it) lol, she loves the TV everytime i try to burp her she will turn her head to face the tv and she has a fascination for our ceiling fan aswell..
I dunno what age they start to chuckle but I could of sworn she did a little one this morning when i tickled her feet accidently, i cant remember what age josh did it..
anyway that will do for now, hope everyone else is doing great and ill try and come back later

Hey lesley - great to see you back in here. You have certainly been AWOL for a while? And good to hear that Chloe is doing well.
YAY SHANNON!!!! That is great you got a nights sleep!!! Jenna has started waking up for a 4-5am feed, and its not so bad at the mo cause I can stay in bed to do it as Shane doesn't have to get up for work. He hates hearing the gulping noises as she is feeding.....
And those cheesy chucks are the WORST!! All I can say is if thats the only problem Jenna has for the next little while, I'm OK with it. I hope her tummy settles down by the time we attack solids!
Shane and jenna are having a nap. Its very cute when they curl up in bed together. Of course - I already have a mountain of photos of them doing it, so it seems silly to take more!

Hi all
Had a much better night last night. Now I have time to put a reply. I don;t know if she does have reflux as the doctor only thought she might as I said she didn't like being put down.
However she slept flat in my bed this morning. She doesn't throw up or anything like that but the doctor said by giving her zantac would help rule out if it was.
We now wrap her tightly which I didn't do. She is a different baby again today after a decent amount of sleep she seems to sleep much better as she isn't overtired.
I was not getting the tired signals at all well I was never told what to look out for. Anyway the doctor told me grizzly and jerky. I put this down to wind not tiredness!!!
Anyway a friend today gave me a booklet she was given when she had her son and it is all about settling. She got it at her mother and baby group (mine hasn't started yet.)
I have read through the booklet and intend to try their methods.
She has slept well today through the day and we are going out to friends tonight so looking forward to adult conversation.
Hopefully we have found a solution to our problems and I will keep you updated.
At the moment I feel like a new woman able to cope with whatever is thrown at me totally different to yesterday when I was a crying wreck!!

Just a quick post from me.
We are still all sick i have now got DH home with it also he came home yesterday lunch time.
All Kimberley wants to do is sleep so that helps a little.
Did manage to take Alex to be weighed this morning he is now 5.050kilos which is good.

Hey everyone
Hope you all had a good weekend so far, i had a friend over yesterday so we drank most of the afternoon and night so was a good day, just couldnt sleep later on which i wasnt happy about.
Poor hubby has had a good week, wednesday he had a car accident, luckily not much damage and him and other guy were ok, then thursday and chunk of metal pierced his work boot and went into the bottom of his foot, then friday him and his mate got stranded out at sea in the boat. So at least he got his run of bad luck out of the way.
All is well here, was talking to a friend and was saying i dont think Mason weighs enough, so over the phone we are looking at the percentile charts in the baby books, and he was way underwieght so she is saying get him to pediatrician etc, then i double checked our figures, we were looking at a 6mths old weight not 6wks lol, how embarrasing if i went to doctor. He is in the average range lol, he weighs 4.2kgs
Shannon great that you got the good nights sleep, i am the same here he is up a lot during the day and can get grizzly but sleeps great at night, its a catch 22 really.

Well I am still having a mare with her on a night. She settles easy during the day and now can get her down after a bath by 7pm on a night but she woke at midnight tonight and DH gave her a bottle of EBM and she eventually settled for 1/2hr then wide awake and really unsettled.
We are not self settling anymore but even when we hold her she was cryin. Anyway it is my shift to see to her and I gave her some milk and she is now in the rocker in front of the washer I am hoping this may help as little else works with her.
Last night was awful well we went to friends and she was the angel we once knew she slept from 6pm till 10:30 then fed and was asleep when we left at 1am. She then woke up when I got her home and was still awake at 7am!!!!!!!
Was not happy as DH went out clubbin and I was left to manage and when he did return he was no use as too drunk and went to sleep so he got to have a night out and sleep.
I am unsure what to do and will be calling the nurse again monday as can't carry on like this. We do not think its reflux the doctor was tryin to eliminate problems but she does not throw up just seemed to hate lying flat.
washer has not worked she is still upset.
All I want is to have her sleep between feeds even if its 2 hours at least I would get some sleep.
Think she is asleep now so will go try putting her down.
Thanks for listening any advice would be great at least I am not cryin feelin like a failure since thursday

Hey Jo,
Try not to get too stressed about routines and sleep patterns and the like. The first 6 weeks or so (at least!!!) are just about survival! Things that work one day, probably wont work the next, and its just a matter of being really imaginative. I know this probably doesn't help given you are sleep deprived, but just keep chugging along.
And tell DH he should not be going out clubbing all night with a newborn!!!! That is no help to you at all!!! Get him to wait another month before he resumes his social life.
Have you tried co-sleeping when she wont settle? Have alook on the internet about it, and the rules for safe co-sleeping, and maybe give that a whirl when she is really unsettled. It works a charm with Jenna, as does wrapping. Luckily Shane is usually the one who cuddles her in bed, but not when he's been drinking. He sort of rolls her towards him, and wraps his arms around her and just pats her while rocking. After a little while she settles and he can then spread out a bit more.
And nothing beats a boobie when a breastfed baby is unsettled!! Even if she has just been fed, chuck it in and it usually works like a charm. Dont worry about the feeding rules of 2 hours. Whatever gets yout hrough the night at this point!
I found daytime settling didn't start to work until Jenna was about 10-12 weeks old, but every baby is different. You might be lucky!
Belinda - poor hubby!!! How did he get picked up at sea? Or did they swim to shore? It has been that bloody cold here. Brrrrrr swimming in the sea fills me with terror! LOL on the weight chart. Great smile!
Michelle- great weight on Alex! Hopefully the sick bugs all pass you by soon.
Netball yesterday. My god it was cold!!!!! It rained all day, and would have been lucky to be 10degrees. Netball is a crazy outdoor sport sometimes. Luckily I didn't play, just watched my girsl who played really well.
And my big woohoo - jenna rolled over yesterday! Finally! She's been so close fo the last week, and then last night - Plop, over she went. Shane didn't see so we pooped her back on her tummy - plop, over again! So very happy mummy here.
