Belinda - Poor DH sounds like he`s in the wars, hopefully that will be the end of it. LOL at the weights.

Michelle - Sorry to hear that you all still sick, hope you all get over it quickly and yay at Alex`s weight.

Fi - I didn`t mean to make you feel jealous, I didn`t even think about Jenna and her half brothers/sister I should have been considerate - sorry. Hopefully one day they will meet Jenna, I myself have 5 brothers/sisters from Dad`s first marriage and they don`t want to know me or my younger sister, they are into their 40`s now and live in England. woohoo at Jenna rolling over, Matthew has decided he doesn`t really like being on his tummy on the floor but is ok with it if he`s on his tummy on the change mat or our laps, I keep telling him how is he suppose to learn if he doesn`t like being on his tummy on the floor.

Shannon - LOL at swapping our next children with each other. Woohoo at having an all night sleep.

Lesley - great to see you, I`m with you with them being grumpy after their needles, Matthew had his on Wednesday and he hasn`t been himself at all since, today he seems a bit better though.

Jo - I wouldn`t worry too much about the self settling, Matthew only does it occasionally at night, I`m not worried I just swing with the tide but I know how hard the first few weeks are, it wasn`t until Matthew hit 2 months that I started to feel like myself again. A lot of what the MCHN says isn`t very useful, when Matthew was 7 weeks she told us not to cuddle him to sleep to put him into bed as soon as he`s looking tired, I`ve just taken that as a grain of salt if I want to cuddle him to sleep I do, she also told us not to leave him in his rocker asleep, I don`t really know why. Your a great Mother and these few weeks are very hard, I always take Matthew into bed at night with me to feed and put him back once he`s asleep, sometimes I don`t and we both fall asleep, maybe this would be worth a go if you haven`t tried it afterall they have been so close to us in utero it must be awful when they can no longer hear our heartbeat.

I have to go Matthew has decided bed`s not for him.

Hi All,

It is soooo cold and windy here today.

Hannah hasn't been sleeping very well these last few days, and I'm just exhausted. She's waking every 1 - 2 hours all night long. She's putting on heaps of weight (she's at the 90th percentile for her age in height and weight) and I just don't see that she needs to feed that often! I'm feeding her every 2 hours during the day too (she's demanding to be fed that often). She is stuffing around at the breast too - and sometimes hurting me. But when I take her off and try to figure out what else could be wrong she cries and won't settle until I offer her the breast again. Can't win! Last night I got so frustrated I just had to put her back in her bassinette and let her cry for a while. I felt terrible, but I wasn't game to pick her up because I was getting so upset and angry myself. Tim had a pillow over his head through all this mind you!

I'm gonna go nuts if she doesn't sleep soon! She seems to alternate between having a few days and nights of reasonable sleeping, and then a few awake days and nights. Very unpredictable.

Oh well. I am trying to tell myself that this will pass (please tell me it will!!!).

On another note, I was thinking of putting something on lay-by for Hannah for Christmas at one of the big toy sales that are on at the moment. Is anyone else going to do this? Apparently there is no minimum deposit....then I can just pay it off at $10 a week or something like that. I just have no idea what to get her. Any ideas? What would a 7 month old like? I guess anything that says 6m plus would be ok. Does anyone know what those leap pad things are like? What's all the rage with kids toys these days?!

Juliette - I`d recommend getting the Fisher price Kick N Whirl Carnival, we brought it a few weeks back and Matthew is just starting to enjoy it himself so I can imagine by 7 months Hannah will just love it. If I go to the sales I`m going to buy, buy, buy and looking in Mark`s wardrobe it`s full of fisher price toys for Matthew for Christmas but I think it will also overflow to his first birthday, he`s got too many to give them to him at once, I think I better start buying some books and clothes for him. It sounds like Hannah is going through a growth spurt, I understand completely when you say she wants to be fed all the time Matthew can have days like that also it might be because of their size they need more I don`t really know, Matthew is in the 97th percentile and at times when MIL has been here she often says are you feeding him again???? She likes the old routine of every 4 hours and doesn`t understand demand feeding. It will get better as time goes by as I said to Jo it wasn`t until Matthew hit 2 months that I started to feel like myself.

Thanks Guys for the words of encouragement. Juliette glad to know I am not the only one up in the middle of the night.

Erykah finally settled at 4am and then woke at 5 cos she had been sick on her bedding so changed that fed her and she slept till 9am. Got her up then and made her stay awake for 1 1/2hrs before her next sleep just woke her and fed her at 2pm and she is awake again. Trying to keep her awake a bit more often during the day so she hopefully settles at night.

We have just been to Mornington Market and I have had my retail therapy buying xmas pressies. Yes I know very early but I have family over soon so they can take them back with them and save on the postage!!!

Anyway best go and entertain erykah. Hoping for a better night tonight.

Long time no hear!!! Sorry I have been a bit preoccupied as you all have been. I can only log on when at my hubbys work!!
Anyway all is well with Amy bit fussy and hard to settle during the day but that is about all! She is putting on weight like no bodies business.
Sleep is going well down at 8.30pm last night and up at 3.30am this morning then back down at 4.30am until 8.30am this morning WHO ho!!!!

Anyway I am at the factory with Amy so I best go and do a food shop

Dee - Dont apologise on your boy knowing his brothers. Its wonderful, and I'm jealous, but certainly nothing you should be apologising for! Shane's kids will learn the error of their ways soon enough, just hopefully they want to know her down the track.

Sharon - great to see you here. And wonderful that Amy is doing well.

Jo - I never change Jenna's bedding. Just mop it up and put her back in it. There is that much spew flying around, it wont hurt her to sleep in it. Of course - I also dont change her unless she absolutely stinks and is sopping wet. I'm not the best mummy....... Yay on the shopping!

Juliette - sounds like tough going for you. The two hours is a tough one. Demand feeding has its joys huh?? Have you tried stretching her out by 15mins each day on her feeds?? You might be able to build it up to 3hrs, which could be more manageable. I had to laugh at the pillow over the head. We have all been there, and normally its me with tears streaming down my face!!! She will get more predictable as she gets older. Of course - byt the time shes a teenager it all turns around again.
The leap pad stuff looks good, but the US accents give me the $hits. Each to their own.

Well tomorrow I love you and leave you all. 3 months - I can't believe its already there. I already have so many memories in my head, but then it only feeld like yesterday she was born.

Jo: Hope things improve soon for you, them first couple of months can be so hard, went through all that the first time and near went insane so can relate, one thing i thought was have you tried a swing? Worth a try if you havent and you can always take it back if its not working.

Fi: Yah on the roll over :) And the coast guard went out and towed them back in so luckily no swimming involved:) Congrats on the graduation too, goes so fast doesnt it.

Juliette: Sorry to hear you have had a crappy few days. And its hard not to feel bad when you just have to give up and put them down and get a break, but your sanity has to come first. Hope it all falls into place very soon for you.
Also on the leap pad systems, dont have the baby type ones but Luke has the leap pad, its pretty good but he shows little interest in it and the books to buy are pretty expensive so check out how much accesorries are for each system first i would suggest.

I went to the toy sale on the first day to get baby swing but of course they never come in! Have a raincheck on it but yeah annoys me when they do that. Wanted to layby so much stuff but the layby line was minimum 3 hour wait, with Luke and Mason with me just wasnt going to happen. Might go in this week and see whats left, Target has their sale soon too.

Had a pretty good day, Mason was pretty happy and quiet so cant complain, he has upped his milk intake finally, but the drawback is that he is now soaking through his outfits, so have put a bigger nappy on over his huggies this feed to see if it helps keep him drier.
He is still smiling at my desk draws, they are just plain wood so god knows what he can see there, would love to know.

Hi all

I actually had a good night we went to friends for dinner (great as I had no food in!) then she slept from 6pm till 11pm. I did a dreamfeed to see if this helped at 9:45pm. She then went straight back to sleep at 11:20 then woke at 12:30 again settled well. Then woke at 2:45 and was a little harder to settle. She dropped off at 5:30. She then woke at 7:20 and I am just trying to get her settled now.

So I got 6 hours of very broken sleep but she was a lot happier and settled so easy.

Best go as she is calling me. Here's hoping for a row of good nights.

Hi All...Hannah must have read my post from yesterday and decided it was in her best interests to give me a break! It seems that every time I come on here to whinge, she gets better that night! I put her down in her bassinette at 9:30pm and didn't hear a peep out of her until 2:30am. A five hour sleep (mind you my right breast felt about ready to explode by this point)!!! She was then up every 2 hours, but I didn't care as much 'cos I felt soooo much better for having slept, and I just kept her in bed with me.

Fi!! You're leaving us!! Congrats to you and Jenna for hitting the three month mark, and for your clever little sausage rolling over. We'll see you in the 3 month forum in a few weeks. hmmmm...I didn' realise about the US accent on the leap pads. Tim will definately not approve!

Jo - good to hear Erykah and you got some sleep last night. fingers crossed she keeps it up for you!

Shannon - Macca's for dinner sounds good! We never get to have Macca's at our house 'cos Tim has an annoying philosophical objection to them. I have to get my occasional Macca's fix when he's not around! Sounds like you'll be pretty busy with all the girls on your own. Are your older girls helpful around the house?

Hey Belinda - thanks for the suggestion re: the leap pad. I guess there's no substitute for a real book read by Mum and Dad anyway. If you can get one, I definately recommend a baby swing! Hannah has the fisher price flutterbye dreams one, and she and I both love it! The image of Mason grinning at your desk drawers is so cute! It's so funny what they find amusing...it would be so interesting to know what goes on in their little heads at times.

Good to hear from you Sharyn! I can certainly understand that you've been a little preoccupied! Babies can really keep you on your toes can't they!? Glad Amy is sleeping well at night and gaining lots of weight.

Dee - thanks for the suggestion re: the kick n whirl carnival. I looked them up on the net and they look great! I like that it can be converted to a toddler toy. I love fisher price stuff too.

Alex is 2 months old today not sure where the time has gone.
He had his injections this morning and he cried when she was doing them he is now fast asleep after his feed so i am hoping he will be ok.

I am feeling much better DH is back at work and Kimberley is still up and down with her moods so i take it she is still not 100%.

Jo - Well done on getting some sleep. It is hard and i have no real advice i have only just got Alex waking twice a night so it does take time.

Shannon - The other day you said the girls went to see Disney on Ice did they enjoy it ?? I was thinking of taking Kimberley but DH said she would not sit still long enough to watch it.

Michelle - happy 2 months to Alex! It IS going fast, hey? I still have to pinch myself when I think that Gabby is almost 4 months. Sounds like Alex might be like Gab after her injections. She just slept and slept. She didn't feed much either. She was fine the next day tho! I am kind of hoping she is the same for her 4 month ones.

Juliette - good to hear you got some decent sleep! It's amazing how fresh you feel after a few extra hours, hey? I hope Hannah keeps it up :)

Jo - yay for more sleep for you too. Hopefully it becomes less broken for you soon.

Shannon - I hope you cope ok with Corey gone for a couple of days. Neil has to go to Fiji in August for a week and I am not sure how I will go either. I think that I will be on the blower to Mum a lot! LOL

Belinda - how are Mason's nappies going? I put one of those fluffy things over Gab's nappy at night. It seems to help distribute the moisture around the nappy better so it absorbs to it's max. AND she doesn't leak through to her clothes. Good to hear he is feeding better. It must be a relief for you.

Could Erykah be experiencing a growth spurt? She is feeding loads seems hourly but more like 1 1/2 to 2 hourly. She is more awake during the day which is a good thing as then I should be able to get her to sleep better at night.

I am following the feed,play,sleep method and making sure she is awake at least 1 hour from her starting her feed not letting her nod off like I used to.

Looked at the house and the bathrooms need cleaning but it can wait until tomorrow. Wonder if tomorrow will ever come!!!

Hey Jo....Hannah's asleep at the moment too. I tried chilling out in front of the TV, but OMG daytime TV is so crap!!! Sometimes the midday movie is ok, but today it's pretty iffy. I really should study or do something productive. Have made the bed and cleaned the kitchen, but I couldn't be bothered doing anything else! I don't think I'm very good at this staying home all day thing! Usually Hannah and I go out once during the day, but I couldn't justify it today...no money at the end of the fortnight, and petrol is too expensive to just go out for no real reason. So....you guys are stuck with me for the day!

Jo - it definitely sounds like a growth spurt. It's certainly good to follow the feed, play, sleep method. That's what I do - though I didn't start doing it on purpose. It just kind of all fell in to place! Sometimes it will go: feed, play, feed, sleep if Gabby has been up for a while (she now stays awake for about 2 hours including her feed now). Just remember - good sleep promotes good sleep. So, if Erykah sleeps well during the day, she will only sleep better at night. It's funny how it works!

That is so true Debbie. At my 6 week check, my ob said to "keep her up as much as possible during the day so she'll sleep at night". So not a good idea! Luckily the CHN set me straight and let me in on the "good sleep promotes good sleep" secret. Hannah sleeps much better at night when she's had a couple of good naps during the day.

Jo - I meant to say re: the growth spurt - Hannah definately feeds more when she's growing quickly. They reckon that most babies have a growth spurt at around 6 weeks (though every baby is different - Hannah was more like 5 weeks).

Juliette - I watch UKTV during the day on foxtel. being a POM and couldn't agree more that the TV on normal channels is crap during the day.

Erykah is currently laying on her play mat gurgliing bless her.

As for the good sleep promotes good sleep it did me no good last week. She sleeps like an angel during the day but was a horror last week in the night. I am making her stay awake at least an hour from the beginning of her feed before she sleeps otherwise she would just eat and then sleep during the day.

I let her sleep for 4 hours from the beginning of her feed or less if she wakes naturally and will see how we get on.

Could not believe how easy the dreamfeed went I was dreading waking her up but she just latched on and fed calmly for 25 mins.

We are going for a walk soon I have spent way too much this last week and have to cut back. It is so easy though I can justify buying her everything!!

Juliette - I am lucky in that my car is a lease car through Hubby's work so I can go out in the car without worrying about petrol costs as it is all included.


bieleemorris - Erykah is 5wks and 2 days so maybe it is a growth spurt as I was a little amazed at how I could settle her easily last night but she was waking hungry hourly for a few hours.

I loved UKTV Jo!!! We used to have cable TV when we lived in Brissy. Now I'm stuck with plain ol' free to air channels. At night they're ok, but during the day it's crap.

Do they have "Allo 'Allo" on UKTV at the moment? I used to love that show as a kid. My dad's a pom, and I grew up on a good diet of British TV. I much prefer British humour to US (I Love Ab Fab, and Monty Python etc.) Lucky the ABC still has some good stuff on it.

I sooooo miss my company car. I had to give it up when I went on maternity leave. I'm not used to having to worry about petrol prices. Now I'm collecting the Woolies reciepts to save a couple of cents here and there. I especially notice it when I drive to Brisbane, now that my work isn't paying for it. You're a lucky duck!

It does sound like a growth spurt with Erykah. Hannah went through all that a couple of weeks ago (and again recently).

Shannon - monthly pay must suck! I remember you mentioning that once before. You must be getting good at budgeting though?!

Jo - I also love watching UKTV not sure what i am going to do once we get rid of it. Friday nights is my fav night for watching it.
Growth spurts are always funny i keep saying Alex is always on one.

Debbie - The time does seem to go so fast.

Alex just woke so grumpy for a feed and only took 60mls and is back to sleep again. At least he is sleeping and not screaming still.

Juliette- No allo allo is not on UKTV at the moment. I used to watch this as a kid also. In fact I have seen most of what they show on UKTV but I can sit through Coronation St again.

I also love Abfab was addicted to this when I was at Uni 10yrs ago. God how time flys seems yesterday I was drunk constantly and supposedly studying (best time of my life - hope Erykah decides to go one day).

As for monthly pay it is the norm in the UK and we find it hard to get used to fortnightly pay for DH. All the bills are monthly so it is harder IMO to budget on fortnightly pay. I get paid monthly from work on the 15th but this goes into our savings so I don't really look forward to payday as I don't get to see it.

I think we plan to go back to the UK for a holiday and so my grans can meet Erykah next year. DH is from Sri Lanka originally and has family there aswell as the UK. We have decided to go to Sri Lanka once Erykah is old enough to appreciate it however his Gran is in her 90's and so I don't want to leave it too long. Also I get the chance to hit the beach. I love it there. Oh hears me dreaming again.

We have not had a holiday since arriving in Oz and I am used to 2 a year when we lived in the UK. Though we get enough decent weather on weekends to make up for the lack of holidays. We had to go away from the UK just to get decent weather for our hols.

Listen to me waffling on. Best go get on I have a few things I want to do before Missy wakes up.

Sorry I haven`t done too many personals but I`m really tired and Matthew is a cranky bum today, we`re thinking his needles are still giving him a hard time, he`s just not a happy little man and has been up most of today since 2.30am.

Dee - Jenna had a tough time with her needles too, she was off colour for about 3-4 days, and then thankfully slept continuously for about 3 days!! We had to give her a bit of baby panadol when she was completely wound up, but to be honest, that was the first week we actually put her in her bass and walked away leaving her crying. Even Shane had had enough, and he has far more patience than I. She had a super runny bum, ran a fever, got quite croaky, and just wouldn't sleep. It was horrible. Hopefulyl Matthew does better for you.

nurse came yesterday, shes doing home visits weekly till chloe is 6 mths old then fortnightly then monthly till she's 2..
anyway she thinks chloe is lactose intolerant as she hasnt been putting on as much weight as she should be, and is doing runny dark green poo's which apparently means she isnt digesting properly.. shes also been extremly grumpy :( had a rough night with ehr last night, only just got her to sleep now :( were gunna get soem sachets of lactose free formula to try her on from thursday and see if she improves or not..

Hey everyone

Have a cat napper on my hands today, very cranky he was, think he is finally giving in and sleeping. Getting heaps more smiles now, he is still trying to laugh but he kinda ends up choking LOL, he will get there.
My parents are back next week and Mum cant wait to see him, i feel bad when i tell her he is smiling as i know she is really jelous that she isnt here, but i dont carry on about it too much for her benifit.

Woke up so tired this morning, was so close to going back to bed and ditching school but talked myself out of it, glad i did now although still dead tired.

Fi: Hope Mason doesnt have the same reaction to his needles, it can be a hard time. I always timed Luke's for a friday so that if he had a crap few days i had hubby home to help out, will do the same this time.

Juliette: I had a swing for Luke and i loved it! So annoyed i dont have one already, have the fisher price linkadoos on raincheck at kmart, just waiting for it to come in!

Debbie: Mason only just started to wet through, but seems to have stopped again now, i will try out the fluffies if he keeps doing it, was reading in another site that someone said they babies must do a power wee and the nappy just cant absorb it that quickly, sounds logical i guess.

Shannon: Hubby seems to be having a better week so far LOL, its only Tuesday though :) And i am still laughing about the weight mix up! And the funniest part is, the gf i was talking to is doing a degree and was just learning about babies percentiles etc, so glad she aint out working yet in that field lol. Imagine the panicked mothers racing to doctors everywhere from her infomation!

Sorry to hear you have to fast Jessalyn tommorow, its hard i guess to know how to feed her to keep her going, maybe just do the big feed before like you said. Hope it all works out :)

Fi - Sounds like Matthew is doing a Jenna with his needles, yep his nappies have been extremely runny since his vacs, did give him some Panadol last night in the hope it would calm him down, his cheeks where so red and he was so grizzly and over tired.

Shannon - poor Jessalyn, she`s going to be one little hungry girl, I think if I was in your position I`d feed her at 5.30 or even maybe 5, give her a big feed maybe a little play nappy change and hopfully another big feed and lets hope that will see her through. I`ll be thinking of you.

Tanya - Yes Matthew is very long, everyone comments on his length, and I guess even though he`s over 6kg he`s not fat but also not skinny, probably what you`d call well covered.

Belinda - Sounds like all is going well with you and yay at the smiles.

Lesley - sorry to hear Chloe may be lactose intolerant, it`s great that the nurse is coming so regularly.

After Matthew hardle sleeping all day yesterday he eventually went to sleep at 9.30pm (not without a fight) woke at 4.30am when Mark came home from milking and stirred on and off until he got up at 6.30am, think he was just so exhausted, he`s asleep again at the moment hopefully for 2 hours (I can only hope).

All is OK here, except that I have mastitis! I also have a belly button hernia from being pregnant - has anyone else ever had one of these???

Finlay is doing well (but feeding all of the time - or so it feels anyway) - nearly 5 kilos - but he has caught my cold which is a bit nasty..poor love.

I had 4 hours sleep in a row last night so I feel like a new woman today. Hope that you are all sleeping OK!

I found the mothers group through a number the CYN gave me. Maybe check with yours and see what they say.

The only thing that i would have liked more about the one i went to is that if they had more babies. Most if the kids where Kimberley's age.

Good to see you again Megan! I was starting to worry! Not so good to hear that you've been battling mastitis though. That must be horrible. At least Finlay let you have a four hour sleep. Hope it gets better soon.

Wow Dee - 7 hours sleep in a row!!!! That's impressive. Though it's not much fun and pretty exhausting for Mum when they're fighting sleep all day long. Hope he's given you more of a break today.

Belinda - LOL @ Mason trying to laugh. They are so cute aren't they? I nearly got the linkadoo's one too - very colourful...but Mum and Dad got me the flutterbye one instead.

Weekly visits from the nurse sound great Lesley! Good to hear they're lookin' after you! Hannah had green poos for a little while there too - 'though it turned out to be too much iron in my breastmilk (from the pg multivitamin I was taking). Hope you can get to the bottom of it (hehehe - no pun intended) soon.

As for us...Hannah and I went to an ABA discussion morning tea thismorning. They were talking about breastfeeding and work - which was really interesting to me 'cos I haven't quite decided what to do about work yet. To be honest, I'd rather stay home with Hannah and be a full time Mum (if we can work out the $$$). I'm much less career focussed than I was.

Hannah is sitting here with me "talking" away. It is so cute. I say "ooooh" and she purses her little lips and says "ooooh" back and smiles. I love hearing her little voice (when it's not screaming the house down!).

I just rang the doctors and booked her in for her 2 month injections - on the 21st July (her 2 month 'birthday'). I am soooo not looking forward to it after the experiences of you girls!
