Butterfly Thats good to know about the odd sizes at Jay Jays etc, as sometimes I am too small for one size but the next size down i'm too big for. sarah_dobbo2 glad to hear you had a nice time at the meet up, I have met some lovely ladies IRL off internet forums. BabyWrangler What a good boy BJ was sleeping for that long, maybe he's having a growth spurt, that's great about him sleeping without being wrapped, don't think I will have much chance with Oliver, he just loves it way too much. Congrats to your brother on getting engaged, his ex wife sounds like a total b!tch.
I've noticed it has got really quiet in here too.
Oliver is going really well with his solids, he has now started opening his mouth for the spoon to go in instead of just trying to suck it off, makes dinner time not as messy.
tomorrow I am going to a friends place to pick up a brand new swing set that she won in a raffle, and she doesn't want anything for it, it has the new slide that has the rollers, so we pick it up tomorrow and I will be listing the one we already have on ebay.
Well the sleeping unwrapped was a one off as it turns out...well..in general sleep is rare at the moment.
He's taken to waking up after one sleep cycle and just talking like crazy and really really struggling to get to sleep again.
The middle of the night its happening too, he can wake up, and be WIDE awake, sometimes I can re-settle him with a bottle, but other times, I just have to sit with him and not talk etc and hope he gets bored! Then I can plop him in bed and he'll drop off, but he can be awake for 3 hours...whilst i'm not sleep deprived, I worry that he'll get that way!!
Great news about the slide Sharon...we have the little one I got off of ebay....god I love ebay!!!
Wow it is quiet....
Sorry to have left you on your own BW
There is no excuse from me, other than I just haven't come here recently.
Congrats to your brother BW, glad he has found a nice girl this time.
Despite improved sleep patterns, I am sooooo tired. Feeling angry a lot of the time and poor DS and DH have been copping it.
Went to see my Aunty 2 and a half hours away on Saturday, the drive was a nightmare. First the accident that meant a 110 zone was less than 10km/hour for well over half an hour. Then there was DS taking his seatbelt off in the middle of that and it getting stuck so I couldn't get it back on without pulling off the road and didn't want to do that in the crawl. When I finally got to the next parking area to fix the seatbelt up, DD was awake, screaming, wouldn't feed well. Needed to stop 3 more times along the way. One stop had swings and I had to deal with the tantrum of getting DS back in the car. This turned a 2 and a half hour trip into 3 and a half hours. The trip back was so much better, but I was tired and wanted to sleep like the kids were. Then I get home to find DH spent the entire day out with friends - Grrrrrrrrr!!! Then I broke my temporary teeth on Saturday night of a long weekend and dentist is away for the week Grrrrr!!!
Still yesterday was a good day with both kids at home, we had fun and found some special things for DS whilst out shopping, made it all good. BW I'm loving ebay a little too much of late. Spending too much, mainly been buying books, but loving that I just sold most of my maternity clothes for just under $100 for 15 auctions. Some went for way more than expected and others way less, but that is the way it goes. Need to get stuck into photographing so I can list some of my I'll never fit into that again clothes. Despite loosing all my weight the body shape is a little different now and those figure hugging dresses have to go. Sharon I think if we were given a swing set DH would be looking for someone to pass it on to as he likes the fact that we have to get out to a park for hte kids to play. I do too except when DS wants swings and DD is sleeping, then it would be great to have a swing set. Sarah - Meeting people IRL, that would be nice. I have been complaining about not having many friends of my own. It's difficult having your friends and DH's friends and only one or two that seem to be our friends. We never seem to do anything together because the other one doesn't fit into the group that well. Guess that is why I don't go out of my way to make new friends.
That said, today is mothers group and lunch with the pregnant lady at work. Looking forward to it. Tomorrow is food shopping and Friday the ceiling guy is coming to quote fixing the kitchen ceiling - cracks from the aircon vents.
Best get moving and get DS ready for daycare. Would much prefer to go back to bed.
BabyWrangler Oliver wakes up most mornings about 3am and has a 'chat' to himself and I just ignore him and he goes back to sleep so I am lucky, it must be frustrating to go from a baby that has been sleeping really well to one who isn't, maybe it's a growth spurt... alittlegrubi that drive would have been so stressfull, I know when I drive up the coast and then when we are driving back home, the kids are sound asleep and I have to drive, would love to be able to join them LOL
WOW i just can't believe how quiet it is in here. As it turns out the swing set is really quiet flimsy, no where near as solid as the "Hills" one we already have so I am going to keep the slide as Jordan loves it and just sell the main section, it's the 'ezy peezy' brand.
Nothing much been happening here, loving not having to get up to do the school run, and I can't believe that when Jordan goes back to school, he only has 7 weeks till he starts his xmas holidays (they get nearly 9 weeks!)
We've been MIA for a while cause things are busy at work and when I get home the computer's the last place I want to be! It's a shame this page is blocked by my work server...
Liam's starting to move around more now. Not crawling, but rolling & using his arms to change direction. Very cute! His favourite toy at the moment is the lounge. DH puts him up on his shoulder & he just runs his hands over the back of the lounge and 'talks'... he threw up in DH's hair yesterday
I've strained some rib muscles and am currently on 'light duties' with Liam. It hurts to pick him up from the floor and holding him in my arms is hard. So poor DH doesn't get a break at the moment I'm in a lot of pain and taking a lot of painkillers - which I usually don't like to do. Thank the Goddess for Advil!
We're heading to IKEA on Saturday to buy Liam's high chair. Then we'll be starting to spoon feed him (currently giving rice cereal very watered down in his bottle). Should be fun! I think he's SOO ready for proper solids. He keeps thrusting things in his mouth and actually chewing on them (including our fingers!) and is reacting to taste. He seems to be getting frustrated with a completely liquid diet so I think he'll settle down with some 'solid' food. Once he's got the hang of the spoon feeding, we'll try potato, then sweet potato, pumpkin, etc...
He isn't sleeping a lot in the day at the moment - DH is struggling to get him to nap more than 1/2 hour at a time. Sometimes only twice a day. He's still sleeping ok at night with only one waking (which DH does and I let him sleep an extra hour in the morning).
I really want to go & get him weighed & measured as it's been months since I've done that and I have absolutely no idea how heavy he is! But with me working full-time, it's hard to get time to go to the CYH office. DH might take him by himself or we'll go in my lunch hour... we'll see!
Anyway - must dash. Am about to copy this post in the other thread & then have my shower & off to bed. Probably need my next dose of painkillers by then too
Sorry for no personals - will try to get on over the weekend...
Yesterday was terrible for us - seems Greer had a 24 hour bug, slept no more than 20 minutes at a time, clingy and smelly watery poos.
Tried to make my own rice cereal yesterday - she was not interested in brown rice cereal. Going to leave solids for a while, so far the only solids Greer has had is a slurp of DH's drumstick icecream - chocolate all over her face gave it away
Had a breakthrough on the toilet training with DS last night we got our first poo in the potty - had a big celebration on that one. Let's hope it keeps going. Nettie How is it going with the return to work? Understand that you don't want to be on the computer afterwards... Not long now and I'll be back at work, hopefully they haven't blocked this site at mey work or I'll be like you.
Sharon, BW, Sarah, Butterfly and anyone else that is lurking - hello to all
Grubi!
Congrats on the poo on the potty, thats a huge step! Good job Grubi's DS!
Nettie, take care of yourself chick, that must be so painful!
Hiya Sharon!!!
Well here in my little world we've been sooo busy...yesterday went from a "nothing" day to a morning tea, then an hour and a half drive to spend time with my mum, and my bro and his fiance, and then dinner out with a friend, then an hour and a half drive back (all with BJ of course).
Little fella is a star...big morning sleep, slept in car, awake at mums, then a sleep at mums, dinner and a bath, little cuddle with Debbie and the restaurant, into the pram for a sleep, awake just before getting in the car...slept all the way home, had a bottle then went to bed, slept form 11:30pm (when we got home and had a bottle), til 5:30, dummy in til 6:30, dummy in again, then chatting happily at 7:30, then he came and had a play in our bed...we made daddy late for work, but had a blast!
Then today, 3 and a half hours this morning, and 3 hours this arvo!
About to start the night routine, about 30 mins later than normal.
Oh and we are consistantly rolling from both back and tummy to get what we want, and he's just managed to get his toes in his mouth...tastey!
Thats all from us, but it so nice to have you guys back!!
Nettie ouchie on the strained ribs, hope they get better soon. alittlegrubi LOL at greer having a slurp of DH's drumstick, Oliver had a suck on the bun part of my cream bun the other week and screamed like anything when I wouldn't let him have any more. BabyWrangler Oliver hasn't rolled from back to tummy and vice versa for a while, although he was on his tummy the other day and was kind of twisted in the middle trying to get a toy hanging above his head IYKWIM. Usually when he is getting his nappy changed he will try and grab his toes, hasn't quite managed it yet.
I have decided that since Oliver still doesn't like the rice cereal I will just give him vegies for breakfast until he can have wheet bix, or develops a liking for the cereal, he may end up being a toast boy. Not much happening here, very hot today, and was out in the car with the kids and since my air con is broken it made for a VERY hot trip!
I have added a pic of Oliver eating mummy's home cooked pumpkin

Given how gorgeous all your kids are I'm sure the answer is a resounding yes, but do you guys all get stopped by strangers to tell you how cute your bubs are?
I did the grocery shopping yesterday, and I was stopped 7 times by people to tell me how gorgeous Benjamin is (and of course I think he is, but he's mine.
It happens all the time, and whilst I think he's a gorgeous little fella, I've never thought of him as being on the upper side of gorgeous if you know what I mean, but I've had people tell me I should register him with modelling agencies (not that I would!) which seems odd to me.
I dunno...just wondered...happened at dinner the other night too....
BW Yes i get it all the time with Greer - think it is her smile. Modelling agency -as if I'd have the time! baah! Wish I could get Greer to have BJs sleeps. She is lucky to sleep for more than 20 mins at a time during the day this week. Only time I get longer is by holding her and that is killing my neck/shoulder. She even wakes if I try to lay down with her. Night times its just 11.30ish and somewhere between 4 and 6am, so nights are good.
DS hasn't done any more potty poos, one in nappy at daycare and an accident in our knickers - but we told mum and went straight to the toilet to put them in there out of the knickers. Guess it will happen eventually, wish I could get toilet trained - in so much as knowing when he was going to do it so I could take him to the toilet
Sharon Do not envy your hot car trip. Greer hasn't even attempted to roll yet, she looks like she is freefalling on her tummy sometimes, but doesn't move at all. My SIL suggested I hold off giving Greer solids until after her baptism just in case she has a reaction to it - never heard of reactions to rice cereal before . It's only 3 weeks away, but I think I will be trying her before then - eating icecream didn't hurt her, although I told DH it was naughty.
Well...my boyo is full of surprises...
After his HUGE sleeps yesterday (3 1/2 hours morning, 3 1/4 hours arvo), he was very subdued today, to the point DH and I thought he was unwell...
Fell asleep on me when I was out for lunch and everything.
I checked his mouth for swelling etc, and nothing (at 6:30pm after bath).
Then at 7pm I couldnt get him to put his dummy in, put a glob on bonjella on the sooth his gums (which I assumed must have been hurting since be refused the dummy), and ouchies, sharp...
In 30 minutes, his bottom right tooth had surfaced!!!
BW - replied in the other thread about the tooth! And yes, I get stopped all the time. We overhear strangers say "look at that baby's hair!!" A lot of strangers think he's a girl because of the long hair and he's got extraodinarily long eyelashes which must make him look feminine! It helps that he just openly grins at anyone walking past! And he's got the cutest smile (check my pics!)
Grubi - Liam's moving around all the time now. Can't keep him still! He rolls every which way, and directs himself by pulling himself around with his hands sort of turning, but not yet crawling iykwim. Even in our arms he's jumping around trying to stand up or pulling at us with his hands... Oh, for a baby that stays still! Oh - and if it helps, what you're describing with Greer's sleeps could be me talking about Liam. He's barely having 2 naps a day - for anywhere from 15 mins to 1 hour. But usually only 1/2 hour. Poor DH is pulling out his hair! Luckily Liam's easily entertained, but you know there's things you plan for when the baby's asleep and poor DH hasn't had that sort of peace!
Sharon - ribs just about all better now. Had a huge cry on Wed night because it hurt so much to pick up Liam and I was so frustrated. But by Thurs night the pain was mostly gone. It still hurts to lay down, but even that's getting better. I'm hoping to not need painkillers tonight - but will take them if I need to because I'm driving to town tomorrow and need the sleep!
Oh Nettie I agree with you 100% about the subdued over screaming!
As I said to Matt, it just goes to show how lucky we have been with Benjamin all the way through, by all rights, he should (based on the hundreds of children I've seen teething) have been a hysterical mess today, had drool everywhere and araging fever...what did I get....Extra snuggles...I mean, I could NEVER complain!
I'm glad the ribs are nearly better, and I'm glad you're all getting stopped in the shops too...you deserve to...damned cute kids we have here really
Sorry I have been MIA DH is flat out trying to start kitchen, as he will need to take a least 3-5 days off work, as I have told him if he can't have it done in that time I will pay someone else to get it done.
Wyatt, have started trying him on food, however he doesn't like it mashed up. He will happly sit and suck an apple cope or a carrot, but when I steam it and mash up he doesn't want a bar of it. I have almost given up trying. I am like grubi, thinking I might put it off for a little whille but then other side of me said he is ready for it now. He even opens his mouth.
I refused to buy store food for him as DS1 came out in big rash, so it's home made all the way. Any suggestions on what I can start with???
Oh other good note I got my second AF started Friday. I was so happy then I a day in I was like can't this be over now. But it sorta made me feel womanly again not just a milking machine.
Well better go we are off to farm today to get chicken wire for my chook yard which I'm still nagging to DH about. SO I will do it myself, and when I do he will say your not doing it right then come over and help. I love DH cos he is so predictable. Will post some photo if it ever gets done....
Have a lovely day ladies.

HI Sarah,
Welcome back!
We started on sweet potato, then pumpkin, then broccoli, have tried zuchini but Benjamin didnt like that on its own, but now he has mixtures of what we've already tried, so I'll mix some in that.
Tonight he's going to have some regular potato which he's not had before.
Last night he was a bit off his food, wouldnt really eat his vegies, but gave him some cereal, which he ate, then he had his vegies (opposite to Sharon's Ollie it seems!!).
Its Daylight savings here which I totally didnt know about, normally hear on the radio and stuff, but nothing this time.
My little cherub woke at what I thought was 6:15 so I gave him his dummy and he went back to sleep til 8am....only....because clocks were meant to go forward, he had actually woken at his normal time of 7:15...then cause he went back to sleep the routine is up the pooper today.
But I've got a plan...have put him back to bed (10:30), and will let him sleep til 12, then wake him....that less sleep that he normally has in the morning, and waking a tad later, but if all goes according to plan, he'll be ready for bed again by 2-2:30pm, which will put him bang smack back on track (ugh sorry about the rhyming there!!) for his normal 6pm bedtime!!!
**** Update****
My plan has worked so far! An hour and a half sleep this morning, he actually woke himself up at 12, and was back in bed by 2:15!!! Now he just needs to have a couple of hours and we'll be set!

: Update!!
BWDamn daylight savings.... I hope I don't have that issue of not knowing - should be okay as DH will need to know for work I guess.
Our sleep is ****ty ATM. DS is sick and between the 2 kids I'm getting broken sleep all night of less than 3 hours at a time Sarah started to try the solids with Greer in last couple of days, just rice cereal. Tried home made blend a cup of brown rice and add breastmilk/water to make it a mush. Tried adding in banana this morning, after the rice cereal we will move like BW to sweet potato the pumpkin maybe broccoli and sweetcorn after that - too far away to think about any further.
I've been busy trying to plan and arrange everything for Greer's baptism. Booked in to have my hair done, hired photographer, urn, tables and chairs. SIL is making sausage rolls and rocky road for arrival nibbles Then we are having a spit roast, chicken and Pasta. Dessert will be icecream, pavlova, mudcake & fruit salad. I'm trying to stuff the expense and get someone else to do most of the food so that I don't need to stress.
Today we are going to buy DH a new suit and shirt for the occassion.
