Oh thanks for telling the story again Abs, and sorry to bring it all back as it must be terribly hard. Thats so terrible, gosh im going to be watching Nixon like a hawk now everytime he has a sandwich. I guess that was part the reason Jen was so upset when feeding Jordy in the begining and the fear of chocking? How is she coping with that btw now?
Thats a blessing they are expecting again, ofcourse it will not take away the pain for their lost son but i thik it will definatley help them move on and watch Toby's baby brother grow.

nicers - are u realy stressed! i stress when charlie doesn't eat for a day (luckily he's that chunky that it wouldn't matter if he didn't eat for a week!!!) is nixon still happy or is he lathargic?

The 1 year anniversary for Toby has come around so quickly, it's great they are expecting another baby but of course that will never take away the pain, the poem you wrote is beautiful..I have never given Olivia a sandwich and Toby is the reason, , I'm so scared that she will choke. She has had toast under a very watchful eye...My thoughts are with you at this time..

About 3 months ago Olivia had gastro for 2 weeks, she lost 2 kilos in weight and would only take 1 bottle over the course of the day and totally went off solids, we took her to the doctors atleast 5 times over that period in panic but they always said keep doing what you're doing, we would give her gastrolite and water in a dropper all day to keep her fluids up, eventually it went away and let me tell you we nearly held a party with her 1st solid pooh..Just keep doing the pinch test to ensure Nixon doesn't get dehydrated..

Oh dear so many sick bubs. Hope Nixon is on the mend Nickers. Holly is getting over a cold (well we all are) & still has a runny nose & last 2 nights has woken in a coughing fit but then had drink of water & back to sleep. She's fine though.

Sooz, did u manage to get one of the urine sample bags for Olivia?

Oh no on the black eye Mitch, hehe, funny bout war wound photos.

I felt soooo bad, I burnt Holly's mouth the other night, heated up some icecube vegies & put them in for bit longer, felt in middle & was fine, but didn't mix it b4 i did & gave her some of the outside, which was hot & she screeeaaammmed. DH heard her from in the shower, I used my finger to get out any left in there & poured water from a cup into her mouth as she was too busy screaming, how bad am i, doh. Luckily couldn't see any burn or blisters. I won't be doin that again. She was laughin at DH in the shower bout 5-10mins later though.

I've given Holly a half a vegemite sanga under watchful eyes a few times & only just recently toast. I did a short course in first aid for babies/kids (our private hospital mums group did) & they showed the best technique on how to dislodge food from a choking baby, so I guess I feel a bit more at ease in that sence, but yes it does bring back memories of poor kids/bubs who've choked & passed on. There was a young boy on the news quite a few yrs ago now when he wouldn't take his tablet for something so he eventually took it & was sent straight to his bdrm, however he then choked on it & died. Very sad & makes u scared thinking that it can happen. DH & I are considering doing the full first aid course together.

Abs that is a beautiful poem. It doesn't feel like a yr, but guess it was just when we were all bout to pop (well Jen in ur case) wasnt it.

Those who were after aft jumpers, did anything come up in an ebay or google search, eg: afl jumper kids.

ta for the thoughts again, and Nic, dont worry - the memories are too ingrained now for "having to recall em". I've also been doing that style of poetry (a message or words from the 1st letter of each line) for quite a while. It's not easy at first, but when it works its good and much more personal


But onto better stuff

Jordy is now "accidentally" standing at times without holding onto something. He will say stand in front of the shelves in the kitchen (pics of him pulling bibs and things off it in the latest set on his website), when he takes his hand off it that was supporting himself to then "help his other hand hold something". Tis sooo funny when he realises and reaches back for it. Sometimes can be up to 30 seconds or more even. Now to have the camera ready for when he next does it

Oh, something he has been doing for AGES now... when dressing him or changing etc, we'll usually give him something to hold - occupies him so doesn't roll on the table blah blah. We'll say "swap hands" when you need him to put what he's holding in the other hand so you can then put it up the arm piece... and he does it without fail


We have Jen's parents and a brother (who will be here later than them) coming for lunch today, her dad's 80th birthday. We'll be telling them about what is also happening in 4 weeks time. Needs to be kept quiet from her brother as he has a very big, though accidental, mouth, and works in the same industry as Jen - word would spread like wildfire if he found out.

abs - thats great he swaps hands - after lunch i get the face washer to wipe charlie face and hands - i always say left hand - he puts it in the face washer - then right hand then his face, i will have to teach him your trick!

Well i have a little monkey boy!! - he can climb from the floor onto the couch then he climbs right up the couch! i have had to push it next to a wall now.

Charlie got a bit sunburnt yesterday - only on a square of his head - he must of got sunburnt thru the see through square at the top of the pram. we went to the wood, wine and roses - was a really good day - and probably as few too many wines!!!!! Gav and i take it in turns to drive so it was my turn to have some fun!

Hope everyone is doing well. Still recovering here - I think I'm just a tad run down and no time to catch up.

Well, finally figured out why Josiah has been an absolute horror! One of his eye teeth have come through. He's been such a nightmare for the last few days, preventing us from doing anything because of his constant screaming. He's been a lot better today though.

Better go, one of my brothers friends just got a beesting. She's not allergic, but they're all totally clueless

We had friends visit over New Years - with 2 daughters - their younger is a little older than our bubs, and Aimee was definitely doing the same monkey thing. It was from watching her that Jordy learnt to climb up to stand on the couch etc. Never underestimate what these syphons of info can take in now adays :o

Glad you found out what was hassling Josiah Bel... what a relief that must be. Oh and Happy 10 months to him too


Well we had Jen's parents (and brother here for lunch) as I mentioned earlier. So before her brother arrived, we gave Jen's dad a Happy 80th card, followed by a Wedding Invite card. It read:

"Dear David, thanks for letting me asking Jenny to marry me

SHE SAID YES !!!"

He was stoked, and then handed it to Jen's mum. She already knew - apparently when I rang to ask him, he couldn't keep his excitement in check and she got it out of him !


Greg (her brother) found my notepad where I was scribbling different messages to put into it, and later asked if he had missed anythign this morning - we all said huh, whattya talking about, and later showed Jen that he knew. Of course I only found this out after he had left for work.

I'll need to do somethign about this over the next few days - grrrr


And later in the evening Jen spoke to her parents, and apparently her dad had one of the best birthdays ever :D


Oh yeah, back to Jordy ;) He woke from a nap at 10.30am... and didn't sleep ALL day. Would not stay horizontal. So we finally fed him a little earlier than normal, and whilst having his bottle in Jens arms around 6.15 (about an hour early), he fell asleep with the bottle still in his mouth. What a munchkin. Lights completely out. Didn't budge whilst I took him upstairs, put him in his cot and that was that for him

Declan has taken his first steps he walks between his incricube thing to the couch it is 2 steps yay and he will also stand holding something like the remote or an apple in both hands and just stand there for well ages!

yeah dEclan!!!!!! good stuff!!!! he's going to be gone soon!

Alexa is still only climbing over everything she can & pulling herself up to standing all the time.... Not looking forward to her walking she is trouble enough crawling!!!!!

nixon is still recovering from this bug and it seems its carried onto me a little, i havent been vomitting luckily but running to the toilet all of last night. not very nice and Nixon is also having a grumpy day today...

We decided that we arent going to have a party for Alexa, DH is away working anyway & we are gonna have a BIG 2nd party instead...

omg @ 2 days mitch can you believe it, just seems like yesterday the very small alexa arrived!

Its 4 weeks and 1 day for declan all the invites are done 1/2 of them have been delivered!
got dad doing the cake! got the small parts of his pressie organised just have to decide on the big part! Declan and I went shopping for his g/f today she is 1 on the 3rd of april we got her my little pony cardboard books libary there are 10 little books plus a interactive pony! for Cooper Declans cousin 2nd april we got a set of 3 hairy mclairy books and will get him some clothes too I think! Now for DH his birthday is the 1st I have no idea what to get him Mils b'day is the 6th I have her covered with avon stuff and my mum and sil are both the 20th march got them covered with avon stuff also! so thats the bdays done for awhile I think as soon as I get something for DH ....but what!

Woohoo on cleaning up on sooo many b'days in one session Becky - guess it makes the rest of the year drag out a bit though. Though the last in that heap of would be a bit peeved as others would be a bit kinda over doing birthday stuff

Jen had a good friend call earlier today... Originally we were thinking of doing a mass elope (me & Jen, Michael & Justine and David & Meg) - til Dave & Meg eloped in NZ a short while ago. They've found out his swimmers aren't in good shape so doing the IVF thing. Meg had been given all sorts of "rubbish info" on what it can do to you from another friend who recently had twins from IVF - she was a bit upset but called Jen to get her side of it... She was a much happier girl after the call

Sush (is there anyone else here who had an IVF bub, KellyW was the only other immediately to mind), would you agree that the stimulation treatment only enhances emotions already there - so if you are already one prone to shouting/getting upset etc, just makes it 10times worse, but if you are generally fairly calm it just takes a bit of thinking to not let the steam cap loose (Jen was in this 2nd category and realised she was being silly and knew it was coz of the stimulation etc causing it, so stopped it before it happened)

Ooh I've got tonnes to read up on.

But wanted to say that, yes, I agree abs, I'm not one to get easily angry or upset, but the injections did make me a little more hormonal, but definitely not the raving lunatic some people make out that you turn into! In fact DH reckoned he didn't really see much of a difference in me, as I attacked each cycle with a control freak mentality, and this helped me keep my emotions in check.

Will catch up on where everyone's at, but just wanted to update on Charlie. He got sick with a cold on Fri last week, which turned into a rattly chest, which turned into respiratory distress by Sunday night. We ended up in Princess Margaret Hospital early Monday morning, and he was admitted overnight. By the time we were discharged yesterday, I'd not showered in 2 days, was covered in vomit and had slept about 3 hours over two nights. But we found out what was wrong, and why he's had to be admitted into hospital twice in two months, and it looks like he had illness-induced asthma. So the minute he picks up any sort of cold/cough, his airways start to close. He's on ventolin and predisolone (steroids) and luckily he responds fantastically to the ventolin. Most babies under 12 months don't, so we're very lucky to find something that works for him.

Mitch, I can't believe Alexa's going to be 1! It really goes too fast, doesn't it?

sush - glad charlie is ok. They gave my charlie a shot of steriods when he had Transtrakeamea ( wet Lung) its awesome the ventalin is working - hope it keeps working and he goes good

Geez Sushee Charlie has had a rough trott lately hasnt he. I guess its good now u know why and can take action immediatley. Hope he is feeling better.
Nixon besides being grumpy yesterday was fine until the evening, it took 3hrs to settle him to bed and one massive vomit, all over our bed.
im feeling better though and there has been no poos or spews from him today thus far!

good news there Sush, and ta for the confirmation (and good to hear you did well through it too). And am sure the hospital staff are used to parents getting into that sorta "smelly" state. It'd be hard on the staff watching the little bubs all unwell etc, but the reward is when they go home all better

Jenny to Jordy into Darling Harbour on the ferry today (whilst I was at the hospital having a continual glucose thingy fitted for the next few days - there's a lead going into the upper left hand cheek of my bum - at the other end is like a really old pager). He didn't sleep at all during the time away, but loved it on the ferry. He played up with other people who were all "isn't he cute", but half way back the big sydney storm rolled in and as soon as the lightning started (big time thunder) it startled quite a few people and he burst into tears. Of course since they knew he was a good boy, they understood why he cried and were all "oh, it's okay, don't be scared". And he loved watching the water come down the glass on the outside, putting his fingers up to the glass

What is it with all the bubs being sick again. Holly caught a cold 2wks ago (& DH & I shortlyafter), had her & I at GP's Wed, we both have fevers & ear infections & she still has a chunky sounding cough & I have sinisitus, so both on Augmentin Forte. This is her 3rd set of ear infections & my 2nd, since she started day care.

I was going to keep Nixon's ticker on tere until he turned 1 before changing to a pregnancy ticker, but this one is great cause u can count both!

Declan is going to a birthday party tomorrow for one of the girls in out mums group will be interesting to see how it goes I might be able to steal some ideas!

Hi Everyone!!!

Was feeling a bit bored - DP has gone away for three months, so I thought I'd read up on how everyone is going.

My Lil man is 1 on Friday 9th, can't believe it has gone so quicick. This time last year I was in King Edward waiting to pop him out.... Atm he is standing for a few sweconds and is only walking when holding onto something or pushing something along. Luke goes to bed around 7.30pm and is up at 7am... He then has a morning sleep around 9.30 for an hour and another sleep around 1.30pm for another hour or so.

As for myself I'm not feeling the best these days. I don't know what it is. I feel down and have no appetite - basically have had to force myself to eat and that's only once a day. I'm just generally not happy. I'm spose to be doing my course but, I have no motivation to get into it any more. I dont know if it is because we moved so far away from everyone. It's all sorta started around January. We had some family come up during the week and they noticed that I've changed from when they saw me at xmas time. They said I've become very insecure within myself and towards DP. I went and bought some vitamins yesterday coz I thought that might pick me up a bit and help with the lack of food.

It's not a lonely thing because I am surropunded by very friendly neighbours who come over frquently. I also take Jake to swimming lessons on a monday and playgroup on a wednesday. So I'm meeting lots of ppl.

My aunt passed away last week from drinking herself to death (long time alco). My friends also lost their first baby at 20 weeks. They went to the 18/20 week scan and found there was no heart beat. So she was rushed to surgery to have it removed. I have also learnt that my mum is addicted to prescription drugs. I always knew this but, yesterday was the first time I'd actually heard my dad admit it to me. So with all this negative things around me - i guess it isn't helping......

Sorry to go on but, i just neede to let it out somewhere........Thanks for listening

Jelli sounds like you are having a rough trot I hope things improve for you I guess sometimes you just have to try and spin negatives and look on the brighter side of life but that isn't always very easy.

Even though you have good neighbours etc that u said, you still probably are a bit lonely from who and what your used too. Even after meeting people in Melbourne from moving interstate i still get bouts of lonlieness. actually ive been feeling it more lately cause no one has come down to visit us like they used for a long time.
There is negativity around you which cannot be helped but as Abs said admiting all this is half of the way there, you are aware that these things may be contriubtuing to the way you feel so maybe you can use that to push them away with positives.
anyway i dont really know you but i remember your name from a while back and when you were pg cause it stuck out in my head!

Thanks everyone for your thoughts. Nickers you really made a lot of sense to me. It is very strange being in a new town and not having those familiar things around me. Things that I am missing at the moment are like our family Dr who I've had my whole life. I have no idea who is a good GP that I can trust here. I also miss going down the local store or even the school and everyone knows your face and says hi. Here im just a stranger in a crowd. I'm also annoyed with not knowing where every thing is. Basically have a map with me if i need to find somewhere. I guess thats what happens when you've grown up in a country town.

Anyway I have a friend whose studying social work at uni at the moment. After i finished up here I had a chat to her. She gave me some good advice and made me feel better almost straight away. So I guess I'll just see how things pan out......

Oh and no i'm not really having a party for luke...will just have our own lil thing with DP, me and the kids....
