I have tried the crying thing but Declan just doesn't stop I and I draw the line when we are getting close to an 30-60mins I can't handle it any longer
almost no crying here - he just chats away to himself, but by 4.30, his nappy is usually pretty wet, and when he cops sight of the bottle, he lets you know he wants it
sometimes we can get him back to sleep, often can't - as usually about an hour later there's this grunting sound coming through the monitor - and yep, 5 mins later, a decent poo filled nappy... noone in their right (straight) mind would want to go back to sleep with that
We've also had a change in daytime sleep patterns. First back to sleep is still 2.5hrs on the dot of waking (if we can guess when that actually might be) - but afternoon nap has been a real struggle. We were trying to do the 2.5hr trick again, but rarely worked
Now we just wait for the first glimmer of tiredness - and he starts his I wanna go to sleep noises/motions as soon as we lying him down to put him in his gro-bag/change his nappy - and off to ZZZzzzZZZzzz land within a few minutes
And we still have him in bed by 6.30 - he just starts zonking out about 6 - we now read him his books in his room, and do the last bottle in there too. Stops any distractions etc downstairs in the lounge
And also eating - he is getting really fussy now. Vegemite sandwiches and milk with sometimes puree/youghurt. Can almost forget about anything else - arggghhh. Any ideas on coping with fussy eaters ?
Becky - I'm hearing you on the drawing the line at an hour - i wouldn't of been able to handle it for that long!!! hope it gets better soon.
Charlie woke this morning at 6.10am but luckily went back to bed from 7.00 to 9.30
Abs - I have no ideas with a fussy eater sorry - but i can imagine charlie will be up to that stage soon!!!!
Charlie has started running everywere - its crazy he gets the speed wobbles up and falls over.. very funny!
Oh thank god Charlie isn't the only fussy one, abs! I was just coming in here to post about it. He's gone from a food monster to Mr Fussy overnight, it feels like. I can get him to take yoghurt, some cereal, porridge and milk regularly, but just about nothing else. I sometimes get lucky and he'll want whatever I'm eating, but other than that, he just refuses most things these days. I am being driven mad.
Sleep: He's started waking up at 6am lately (after sleeping all night). Lucky he'll lie in bed with us until 7am if he gets his bottle, but I am starting to wonder how I ever survived when he was waking 3-4 times a night!
Walking: someone said that their bub has gone back to crawling after learning to stand unaided, and this has happened to Charlie too! He seems to have lost interest in trying to walk, esp after his hospital stay and the gastro he got after. I think being carried everywhere has made him regress! Lol!
Hope everyone is well. I can't believe how quiet this thread has now become, but I guess most baby buddy threads slow down once the bubs all hit 1yo.
Just slowed for me due to being busy Sushee..
Jac, when did Charlie start walking - last I heard he was still crawling. Don't remember seeing he was upright now. Jordy has pretty much mastered the speed wobbles, and is now wanting to go up and down steps - he's been climbing the stairs for ages (with a couple of slipups)... but single steps, espcially down it, is umm interesting
Good to hear we are not alone Sushee on the Mr Fussy Boots, well not really good ;) We might move the main meal for him to lunch rather than dinner as he would eat his lunch better than his dinner
SLeep: again, up at 5am - wouldn't go back to sleep... finally just after 8.30 he zonked out, and its now nearly 11am and he is still horizontal - grrrrrrrrrr. And has such a rumbly chest - Jen and he are off to the doctor at 11.45 for another checkup - she's not any better, I just have a little couch and plenty of phlegm
Hi everone,
Another fussy eater here, at the moment we spit out EVERYTHING. If we liked it yesterday that doesn't matter, today it is getting spat out... I have tried a million different things and the only thing he really likes to eat is fillet steak that is $45kg!!
Well I don't know what was going on with Tyron last night, he didn't go to sleep until 3:30 this morning, he was awake since 1 yesterday afternoon, 14 hours later he is still awake and wanting to play!
Jacci - I think the thunder is extremely loud to dogs as their hearing is so sensistive and also because they can;t see something to associate the noise with it is frightening!!
Sushee - Tyron is regressing as well, he seems to quite content with crawling, not interested in trying to walk at all.
Hi to everyone else.
Morning!
Fussy eaters - Josiah thankfully isn't one, but we have gone through a couple of weeks of him not wanting to eat anything. I put it down to a combination of teeth and a sore throat at the time, but vegemite sandwiches were it for more than a few days! I was getting really worried, because he wasn't even wanting his milk, but then he started eating again and is back to normal now. He did lose a bit of weight because of it though.
abs - hope Jen & Jordy are feeling better soon.
Becky - I hear you on drawing the line at an hour, I only lasted half an hour at a time. I think the key is to be consistent with whatever you are doing. Fair enough to only let it go on for so long, but leave it the same length of time every night, don't leave it 30 mins one night and only 5 the next night. But, as Jacci said, you've got to do what works for you. I think we just have stubborn little boys!!!
Hi to everyone else
Bel
hi just wondering if anyones child is chucking temper tantrums we went to see my neice yesterday she is 19 months so she is a little bit older than jess but the whole time we were over there jess screamed because she couldnt have everthing.
fortunately Jordy doesn't know the meaning of the words Jes - sorry
Jess - nope sorry no tantrums here yet, touch wood.
We had to resort to letting Declan cry for a little while when we put him in his cot because he was at the stage of not wanting to go in there and daddy picking him up and bringing him to our room to our bed grr. So as much as I hated it I put my foot down and told him to leave him in the cot he whinged for 5mins but now its down to we put him in the cot he whinges for a min and then it all goes quiet, so hoping this will help him sleep through too fingers are crossed anyways.
So what has everyone been up to and what are your plans for the weekend?
Amy
Oh yes Declan chucks a wobely whenever something is taken from him or he see something he wants and can't get it it is very frustraiting
i hear you becky jess chucks her head back and kicks her legs it started already .
Abs - charlie started walking about a week after turning 1 now its full on!!!!
I'm hearing you on the tantrums!!!! charlie loves playing out the back with the puppy and when i bring him in he screams!! he has learnt if the dog licks his face then he pushes the dog away and then says no! its very cute
Jacci - yes its flying to the point that I'm 17 weeks shortly and booking my 2nd u/s and haven't even had a chance to think about it! It's good though cause I really just want it here so that I can deal with the 1st 6 months and get into the good stuff! like sleep and giggles etc...
Sleep - I can't comment, my mans a little dream at night, not so great during the day but not complaining as I get a godd nights sleep now.
Food - Caden tries the fussy thing, we just offer the one thing, take it away and reoffer 5-10 minutes later, so far has worked, hoping it continues otherwise I won't have a clue what to do.
well that's my 5 minute catch up, good to see you're all doing good,
congrats on the house Bel, what fun and I mean it, I love building our house, good luck with the approval stuff,
bye
YAY - first time ever, I put Josiah down in bed with his bottle, left the room and didn't hear a peep out of him!! Got Mark to check on him about 15 mins later to make sure he was rugged up and he was sound asleep without his dummy even! Let's hope it continues :)
Joy - thanks for the congrats, and I'm with you, I LOVED building our first house and can't wait to do it all again. We are going with a different builder though, so I'm a little nervous about that. The first mob were so good, but they don't build a big enough house for what we need now.
Tantrums - Janae has never thrown a tantrum and even now only tries to stamp her foot now and then, but always ends up in a fit of giggles coz she knows she's not allowed to do it. Josiah on the other hand....his first tantrum was premeditated! We had some friends over and we were sitting in the family room while he was playing in front of us. At one point he looked at me, laid face down on the floor and started throwing his arms and legs about! I admit I did have a bit of a giggle coz it looks so funny at about 9 months of age, but quickly composed myself and told him no. Anyway, it didn't work, now he throws himself around all over the place! Changing his clothes is the worst, he hates having his clothes taken off AND put back on. Once they're on or off he doesn't care, but OMG the drama, you'd think we were beating the kid the way he carries on! Unfortunately I havent got a solution for the tantrums yet, all I know is that if you pay too much attention to them they will just get worse.
Well, I'm off to bed, the rest of the house is asleep, and my eyes are closing typing this! Nighty-night everyone, sleep tight
Bel
hehe Bel, as you were going to bed, I was getting UP ! Woke at 1.15, lay in bed til 2, got up, did some stuff downstairs til 3, back to bed, read a book til 4.30, turned the light off, Jordy woke at 4.45, back to bed for him at 7am - we all got 40-45mins sleep, and back up again - argh
Cant help with the clothes - Jordy loves putting clothes on or taking them off. He is such a helper with that. We tug on the arm of his clothes and he pulls his arm in and down so it comes out... or in reverse he'll stick his arm up to push it through the sleeve. He'll also lift his feet to help putting pants on/off etc
We have a new trick
When he does something good, we put our hands in the air and go YEAAAHHHH - he does it too, is sooooooooooo cute. The smile is adorabubble (sorry, that's a Jenny term)
hi all. couldn't post on sunday so just caught up on 3 pages. im glad its not any busier in here!
Tantrums - yes every time she goes to bed. have learnt thet the tanty cry is shrill, changes pitch n has pauses so we only listen for what sounds like her hungry cry coz its the same as her emotional cry.
walking - it's still faster to crawl but if she's not in a rush she walks. it's easier in my back coz I can hold her hand n make her walk to the car from the front door. she has also mastered climbing the front step.
Dh is still away so he still hasn't seen her walk
Clothes - sarah crawls away mid change. often with her nappy off. she hasn't peed on my bed yet tho so im not worrid about it. too hard to get off the floor for me these days so she comes up to where i can reach properly.
hope everyone is feeling better!

Not much to report here... Jen's out meeting a potential buyer of her business
Hi everyone
Sorry I've been slack the last couple of days Declan and I have been sick with a cold which is now in my sinus :wall:
Bec - Yay on Declan sleeping through  that he keeps doing it for you, oh and if he does do you mind sending him here to teach my Declan how to do it too.
Abs - GL to Jen hope things work out with this buyer. How is young Jordy going?
Mitch - Hey chickee glad Alexa is better for you at night too and way to go on the tooth just appearing lol, obviously didn't cause her any pain?
Ali, Joy & Nickers - how are you lovely preggo ladies going?
Bel - Josiah is certainly turning into a little man by the looks of your sig, very cute.
Jac - has the rain eased up down there yet? How are you guys going?
Sushee - I forgot to ask how was your trip?
Lisa - how are you and Tyron?
Jesa - Sorry don't think I've welcomed you yet, sorry but welcome to our little group great bunch of ladies & abs here.
Sorry if I've missed anyone but my head is still congested. BBL
Jords is doing fine thanks Amy - he slept more last night than the previous couple so thats a good start. And he's having a fun day today
Jen's still out, but I took an interesting phone call just before - someone from another recruitment company that are just starting up - but cover a wider range of clients than us... Hmmm, they could be a potential buyer too - our website is already established and could readily be expanded to cover additional areas
Hi all!
sorry i have MIA for so long.
Nixon has been sick for a few weeks and still trying to get over this cold. well hope its not another one. His nose is ust running like a tap atm. got over conjunctivitis and a middle ear infection. He is getting more balance when letting go but no signs of taking any steps yet, still think thats a while off.
Pregnany- neally half way already! time flies 2nd time around. i have my ultrasound on Monday and hoping to find out the sex, will keep you posted.
tantrums- Nixon has these when changing him sometimes. It does my head it when trying to change a dirty nappy and he starts thrashing and kicking about.
thismorning he did the first solid poo he has done in i dunno how many months! he just kept getting tooth after tooth so i think was half the reason.
and ive just switched him to cows milk. the next task his taking away the bottle. ive been trying on and off for the last 1.5months but he hates having milk out of anything else but his dam bottle.... any suggestions??
have u tried every cup including the ones where the straw pops up when u move the lid jess loves to drink out of those .apart from that i wouldnt have a clue jess is stilhaving three bottles of cows milk
Hey all well it was certainly a once off the last 2 nights have been horrible! grrr soo I better get to bed or ill have no sleep agaiN!
NIc,
Charlie will drink everything else out of a straw or sippy cup, but will only take milk from a bottle. I think I may leave him on the bottle for at least another 6 months, and then see where we're at. I think it would be too big a shock to his poor system to have to give up him bottle now!
Love and hugs to all the sick bubs and their mums. Charlie has been sick for the better part of 3 weeks now, first with asthma and bronchilitis, then with gastro, and now with a cough and cold. DH and I have decided to avoid taking him out at all if possible until he gets a chance to get over being sick for a while. It's the season for all the dreaded viruses and such. Sucks big time.
CHarlie also has his milk out of the bottle and i'm going to leave it like that - he knows that his water is out of a straw or a sippy cup. He is only on 2 bottles a day so i give it to him when he wakes in the morning and when he goes to bed - he knows its bed time when he's had a bottle.
I have the flu really bad and so does gav - i hope charlie doesn't get it!!
I am waiting for my best friend to have a baby - she is 4 days over - poor thing!!!
Have a wonderful day
Jac
Hey
Sarah has milk out of a straw. banned the bottle completely by 1/2 way thru pg so she knows that big girls don't drink from bottles only babies do. that worked for the dummy too. I just make sure she feels big n special for not needing it. try a bottle with an oral development spout like the pigeon 1. mite work if it looks like a bottle but drinks like a cup?
only 11 weeks to go! omg I cant believe how fast it has gone! the Bra's'n'things ultimate body mty bra is THE BEST! convertible straps n all. super comfy, recommend it 2 all pg women! Have reached the always tired time again. If only I could have some of Sarah's energy :(
Enjoy the sleeping thru! I find th@ consistency works. If I don't do something she always wakes up.
Stephen gets home next sunday!!!!! I cant wait! I prob won't b on nxt week so mite take a while to catch up considering I got 8 emails from BB in 3 days. today I only had 1 page in here to catch up on so thats not too busy. will try tho. @ the mo he is Digging Treches near Murray Bridge. at least we r still in the same state.
Jacci - is this ur friends 1st bub? hope she doesn't need to b induced. hated waiting till 9days odue.
wow the less u write the less I do! makes my post easier to write
CYA
Hi
Big hugs to all the sick mums and bubs. Hope you all get better very quickly. Josiah has has a snotty nose, but that's clearing up very fast. We had gastro visit our place about 4 weeks ago - the day that daycare called to pick Josiah up coz of it they had sent ALL their babies home for the same reason.
Bottle - Josiah drinks his milk from a bottle (about 3 a day)everything else from a sippy cup. I'm happy with him having a bottle atm - to be honest drinks still come out a bit fast from his sippy cup and he splutters a bit sometimes.
Thanks for the comments about Josiah Amy - he is such a little man, and definately acts like a boy - he's fearless!
Becky - hope Declan realises that a full nights sleep is GOOD and starts doing it consistently for you.
Well, we had our first home open today - 5 couples/parties through on an absolutely miserable day, so happy with that. Hopefully we get a buyer very soon.
My exciting news of the day - My sister is coming in October! Haven't seen her since we went over there 2 years ago when her 1st bubs was 6 weeks old, and she's had another one since then! My mum hasn't seen her for 6 years, so VERY glad she's coming. She's staying for 6 weeks too, so we'll get to spend heaps of time together.
K, off to organise the kids, going to the movies tonight for the first time in AGES. Baby sitters will be here soon (Janae's godparents). Have a nice night
Bel
yeah Nixon drinks his water out of a cup or straw sippy thing but bottle he relates to his milk.
i had my scan today and found out little powpow is a BOY! . isnt that funny all 3 of us in here are having the same sex as our first bub!
we decided we will tell ppl this time but going to keep his name a surprise. we are pretty certain we've come up with a winner though!
bubs heart still may be an issue but still dont know. they told me everything was ok but spent a heck of a long time trying to get the data and had a few attempts followed by one of the doctors coming in because she wasnt satisfied with the results.
Nixon spewed in his sleep last night, the night before he pooed everywhere in his sleep. his nose is contsnatly dripping but its now that real sticky gooey bright green boogy (nice hey) he has eaten much today but seems ok in himself. just wish we could all get over these germs that keep lerking.
Woohoo Nickers.... Congrats on the Boy.. now Nixon will have a mate for life... woohoo... Hope Nixon is better soon poor wee mite!!!
I have been checking in all the time to check & see if you have osted LOL...
Congratulations Nickers, I hope everything turns out fine with the little ones heart, do you have to have any more checks or anything??
I saw you question in the names forum, you know what my vote is for...
Hi to everyone else, no bugs here for the moment, I am hoping to keep it that way!
Hi everyone
Hugs from here as well to all the sick little tackers... Jordy is nearly better now and is otherwise fine - not much really to report
Congrats on all the progress for those of you expecting. Time has flown even for the rest of us, only seems like yesterday that you were telling us about your BFP :o
Oh one, thing, he says "ni-ni da" when being taken up the stairs going to bed - tis soooo cute. And he understands sooooo many words its amazing their learning abilities
Hope everyone is well, still pretty busy here, so many ideas of improving stuff at work going through my head at the moment... dunno why I'm bothering as we are only there for another 10 months or so (Australian Customs Service has changed who is going to do their mainframe computer stuff from EDS who I work for, to IBM who I will never work for again - long story from years ago)
Hey All
Congrats Nickers on a little brother for Nixon that is great I hope all is well with the little ones ticker
Declan has a cough at the moment also which is not making his sleep any better, this is just getting ridiculous now I seriously don't know hoe my eyes are staying open it is a good thing I don't have a car!
Becky.. I am so sorry that Declan isnt sleeping well at all... I really hope that corner isnt far away... sleep deprivation really sucks!!!!
Hi All!!
Sorry I have been MIA so many things going on. I decided to surprise my mum for mothers day and went to visit her. Stayed there for a bit over a week, which was really nice. We have also had heaps going on with work.
But the big news is that I am pregnant again. Another surprise. We weren't TTC and my cycles have been all over the place since I am still BF but Chris had a feeling and made me test and there it was. So we have been coming to terms with that. ATM I am due on the 26th January. I still need to go see the doctor though to confirm. Feeling good so far no MS but I didn't have any last time either. Anyway you guys are the first to know, still deciding when and where to tell everyone else.
Abbey is good too. Still not sleeping either so I know how you feel Becky. She still feeds during the night, spends the first 3-4 hours in her bed then in with me cause I couldn't be bothered to get up anymore. We will be trying to get her to stay in her cot as soon as we have the time to not have any sleep.
Nickers... Congrats on another boy! How exciting. Chris is hoping this one is a girl too so I won't buy anymore clothes lol
Hope everyone and their bubs are feeling better by now.
Abbey has cows milk in a bottle at night before bed, other times of the day she has either milk or water in her sippy cup.
Hi to everyone I have missed I will try to pop in more now.
Huge Congrats Amanda!!!! I am waiting to see how bad the horrible 2's really are before i go backand try again!!! hehehe
Sleep Deprevation - god i feel for you girls!!! last night we had the huge storms and woke charlie up - it nearly killed me!!! i don't know how you do it all the time!!!
Abs - that is very cute the ni-ni da - it would melt your heart every time. charlie face lights up and he walks around saying daddy when he sees gav pull it - i can see gav's face light up when he sees him so i know you would be the same.
Nickers - Another little boy!!! that is great- you can use everything again!!!
sickness- we are all sick in our family - all except charlie!! he is running round crazy and we are lying on the couch nearly dying - the joys of being sick with a one year old!!
My friend is still over her due date - 6 days now - its her first baby so the poor girl is very over it
Wow.. congrats Amanda on # 2 on the way...
I cant believe how many of us are already on the way to # 2 LOL...
Jeff is still worried about having another prem baby & me having another c-sect.. so I think I have a bit of work on my hands to convince him to start TTC # 2 after we come back from Oz in October LOL...
Jeff is away to a motorcycle rally this weekend so it is gonna be just me & my girl this weekend ... think we might have a girly day out in town !!!!!
wow - congrats Amanda...I know what you mean by coming to terms with it, BOTH my kids were a surprise, we definately weren't TTC when I fell pregnant with Janae or Josiah. But, all that apprehension disappears when you see their beautiful face. Hope your pregnancy goes nice and quickly for you.
Congrats on another boy Nic! I've put my vote in for his name. Hope everything is alright with his heart. I'm sure if there was anything they would have told you and run more tests.
Mitch - the mention of Jeff going away for the weekend reminded me to ask how you're going with having him home during the week now? Have you had to adjust, or just glad to have him back? :)
Jacci - hope you and Gavin are feeling better soon, nothing worse than having to run after a toddler when you're not well.
Becky - hope you got a bit of sleep last night. Declan is looking gorgeous btw - he's definately looking like a little boy now and not a baby!
Nothing new to report here, Josiah's eating & sleeping well, no new words yet, but he nods his head for yes, shakes his head for no, loves pointing everything out and he definately responds to instructions very well. He's also doing some baby signing which he has picked up from daycare. I know he's doing it, and he does it on purpose, but I have no idea what he's doing! I've asked daycare for a chart so I can decipher, so hopefully I'll know what he's 'saying' soon :)
Cute little thing I've noticed - Josiah is such a boy and loves playing with his cars (and his willy, but that's another story :)) I went into his room the other day and he was pushing the cars around making 'broom broom' noises. Since then he's been making the noises every time he sees a car, real or plastic! It's very cute.
Anyway, I better get back to work - got training for our new payroll system most of the day today, so better get my normal work done in a hurry so I don't fall behind.
Bel
