Kel, do you think Lily is affected by the heat with her sleep? We reckon that's why Ben is having such a rough time getting himself to sleep. His room is the only one that doesn't really get the cold air from the aircon. Poor little munchkin had a shocker last night - as did Jared. I'm living on no sleep today! Thank goodness for this cooler air and tomorrow is going to be downright chilly - woohoo!
Jen, I hope you guys aren't too close to the fires up there.
Are you Melbourne girls close to any of those devastated areas? It's so horrible I can't even begin to imagine how hard it will be for those close-knit towns to pick up from this tragedy
Hi All....
mmm Dis I know what you mean - I keep thinking of the people who perished together and with their kids, imagining what their last words were and how scared they must have been - I grew up in the Blue Mountains of NSW and we came close a few times and its the scariest noise and feeling imaginable. Not close to it really up here but the lake has been submerged in smoke and we havnt been able to see 100m most of the weekend. I came home on the train on Friday night from work in the city and went though it on the train line and it was awful. Ok! Phew! I am glad its lovely and cool here too today, sorry you are on no sleep, I hope the boys have some big naps today to make up for it now the heat has gone. I wouldnt mind having all boys either, I say to DH we would be like posh and becks, just poor! (and you too Kris of course!) I wouldnt mind always being the princess!
Kel - Gosh you are copping it huh? Poor DH too - sleeping on a mattress. How are you guys coping? Must be tough trying to keep it together as a couple too when you are so tired all the time. Completely freaks me out too cause we had a hard time when Beau was young and it took us ages to get back on track as a couple. Hopefully you will get some rest soon and feel better about everything. Who is looking after the kids while you are at work?
Mel - Bless Olivia saying I love you!!! Oh I cant wait for the day!! B says it inhis own way, with a big cuddle and a pat on the back and a "awhhh" from him!! Wow at Becca sleeping from 9-6! You must have felt like a new woman! Mmm I think DH is conscious of getting older frankly! His 43rd birthday is on Friday (I am 33 this year) and he doesnt want to be having babies in his fifties I guess! He is ansty to have more (well at least one!)
Us - Had an extremely long work day on Friday (5am til 10pm) and its too freaky coming home up here on the train that late, and people 'forced' me to share my cab with them - I got home and burst into tears! To think I am a big city girl! Beau is changing a lot at the moment which is awesome, he said "mouse" on Saturday and is in love with going on the bus now which he hated before. He bawled for both sleeps on Friday for DH and has done it for every one since...why does he always come up with something every time I go out?????
heys ladies, just popping by to say "g'day". haven't been too well lately but ya get that.
will come back and make proper g'days, read the thread in whole.
i don't get "i love you" yet but I do get smothered in kisses, he likes to kiss both sides of my cheeks for a while in the morning! Also a little parrot - have to be really careful what I say!
Jen - we're close enough to the fires, we're up in the dandenongs and there's a huge risk here - a stone's throw from a wildlife corridor that extends from the south to the north. my heart goes out to everyone affected.
don't forget to leave shopping until friday if you can, and shop @ coles, all profit going to bushfire appeal.
Things are going well here. I love the weekends as Craig is home two nights to give me a hand. Usually I have bedtime AND mornings by myself which is a bit of a struggle with Jared still up twice a night most nights.
We had to go back to the hospital for another heel-***** test on Thursday. I managed to get both boys and myself dressed and fed and at the hospital for a 9:30 appointment! I was so proud you'd think I'd worked out a plan for world peace Jared's results for Maple Syrup Urine Disease came back elevated. We have to wait another 11 days to hear if we need further testing, but I'm not worried as he doesn't have any of the signs or symptoms.
Ben has been a star yet again. He now goes into bed and climbs in himself (his bed is high and he needs a stool which he was too afraid to use before). Then he reads one of his little Thomas books for a while before going to bed. Sometimes we read to him, but it's not always possible with Jared around and Craig often in bed at that time.
Anyway, they both want me so I'd better go and attend to at least one of them
Mel, don't you love that they can now open the fridge? Actually, once I put the Tim Tams out of reach, Ben's been pretty good It's even quite handy now that he can go and get his milk out of the fridge while I'm feeding Jared.
Maple Syrup Urine Disease is apparently pretty rare. It means that you are unable to break down amino acids and can cause some pretty serious damage. I'm not really concerned as Jared isn't showing any of the symptoms, but it's still niggling away in the back of my mind.
We had a great night last night! Ben went down to bed after I read him a book. I left him with his book and he went off to sleep by himself. Then, Jared was fast asleep by 10:30 after a pretty unsettled day. We were up once in the night for a feed and then back to bed until 7am with Ben getting up at 7:30. Much better! I even did the washing up and mopped the kitchen floor (with Jared in the Hug A Bub) this morning. Quite an achievement considering I've done basically no housework since the little one was born (or even before he was born actually!). The sun is even out at the moment after a week of rain. Don't know how long it will last though, I don't think I'll risk the washing on the line outside.
