ahhh Kel, sorry to hear you're still ahving sleep issues.
Mel - becca's ultrasound?
Jen - how the heck did you do that? I just would't cope at all with that! The discipline you must have!
Kris - *hugs8
Us - little bugger's driving me batty, still biting and I'm his chief target. But he's starting to help out more with tasks, I wish DH would actually give him tasks instead of treating him like a "baby" !!!!
Fires - well yes, the Belgrave Fire on sunday just gone was in my street.
Anyhows, time for my bed I think.
cyas
-
Kaz- everything ok? Geez it must have been scary having the fires in your street.
Rebecca has a hip review, so hoping we get the all clear. She needed to have it because of Olivias hips. Bugger with Pips biting. Do you bite him back? Mum said thats what she did to us when we bit and then we stopped. It has to be a good one though! I tried it with liv but cant really do it, so now I say dont bite, just kisses...it works!!!
Well Olivia woke up at 2am ready to play, then she woke her sister. She settled by about 3am in our bed, where dh slept fine and I got constantly kicked. Needless to say, I am tired.
Ok shes pulling the chairs up to the bench to help type....
Oh and I lost another 600gms this week:)
-
We had Becs ultrasound today for her hips. The left one hasnt improved, so we have to wait til next Thursday to see what they will do. I was really hoping things would be better so that she wouldnt have to go into a harness like Olivia. Am actually feeling sick about it.
I think Olivia is coming down with something too.....
-
Mel, I love your ticker pic!!
-
Mel - gorgeous pic!
Not the best results from the u/s.
I've bitten Pip a few times, last time I missed and gave him a blood blister (ooops) but he hasn't bitten me since. He's started biting dh instead :D
I think he's teething, he's just put his fingers into his mouth and is poking around where his molars should be.
-
Thanks- I took that on my mobile, shes sitting in the dogs water bowl!! And I got the ticker from your site kel, much better than the one I was using before.
Lol Kaz at giving him a blood blister. Its hard when they go through a biting stage. I just got a wack on the head from Olivia, so I pretended to cry and she gave me kisses back. We are still teething the molars here too. Livs drooling loads and had stinky poos and wees during the past week.
I have given her too much yeast and her mouth has flared up again, so I have just given her some antihistamine, hopefully it will settle it down. Also shes been really wheezy today so I must get her to the drs. I think she has asthma and its not helping with all this smoke.
-
I've been trying that too Mel, but DH refuses to so it sorta makes it redundant. *meh*
ahhhh my head aches, my back aches and i'm wrapped in a blankie. And I don't have any spare tape for Greys Anatomy or Private Practice :(
-
Kaz, how scary with the fires being that close! Glad you're okay. Bummer that you're feeling so bad. Sounds like you need a break from Pip for some 'me' time. Have you got anybody that can take him for a while?
Mel, I'm sorry that Becca's scan wasn't all good news. Did you have hip probs as a littley? Is it genetic? Just curious as to why both your girls have issues. My sis had a rare hip prob when she was a pre-teen and had to have surgery, but apparantly that was a flukey one-off thing.
Love your ticker pic!
Kel, I'm sorry you're still having sleep problems :( I don't know how you keep going with everything you're doing. Sleep deprivation really screws you up - I've been in tears a few times this past week due to it, and it's only a rare thing for me.
I know what you mean about you and your DH not having 'alone' time. You've actually reminded me that I want to see if mum can look after the boys while DH and I go to the movies or something next week. At the moment we seem to be in a tag-team when we're both home...taking it in turns to sleep!
Jen, Von and Kris - hi!
Us, we've had a good night and morning :) Last night Ben went to bed no worries at 7:30. It was lucky that he did because Jared fed ALL night again until 10:30pm. Seriously, he was on one boob or the other from the time we got home from the park (yay, some outside time at last!) at about 5pm until 10:30. Take him off and he was screaming. Anyway, he finally did a huge round of ripping farts and poos at about 10pm and then went to sleep until 3am! I had the most glorious sleep! Ben slept until 7am as well - it was wonderful :)
I felt so energised this morning that we ventured out to Big W to buy some nappies. Jared in the Hug A Bub (don't know how I'd get by without that thing) and Ben walking until he popped into a trolley. All went very well. Ran into one of my SIL's and another friend while we were out too so I felt like I was actually a part of the real world. Actually, today is probably going to go down as one of the best days since Jared was born... good sleep, some outside world interaction, no tantrums (yet) and some 'me' time right now. And the weekend is upon us meaning Craig is home for the next two nights - wonderful!!!
Okay, I really should go and do the washing up - bleh!
-
Welll thursday night was horrid. Pip fell asleep ... then threw up. DH & I argued over that (he'd aparently just checked him and told me to let him cry it out) but his cry was weird, and the coughing sounded chunky... vomited 3 times - once in his bed, once in our bed and then once in the clean bed.
Doc said he's got "a virus" but apparently the little mark under his nose which I thought was from him picking his nose is actually staff so we've got ointment for that.
-
Hiya girls,
Wow, I've managed two posts in a week! Yay!
Mel, yeah, I like these tickers too, they're much bigger and brighter! So everyone can see my little monkeys :D
I hope R's hips turn out to be ok. I guess the positive is (I think??) thatthey don't seem to be as bad as O's were? And I hope O is better with her thrush and wheezing. All that smoke around must be awful.
Kaz, I hope you and Pip are feeling better. And that Pip has stopped biting you!! Little monster. That's actually one thing Lily never did, thank goodness! Mind you she made up for it in other ways!
Dis, yeah, I've had some pretty major meltdowns lately with the sleep deprivation. I'm really bad if I don't get enough sleep and well lately that has been alot. Because I can't sleep int he day anymore with having to work, I'm really feeling the days I get less than about 4-5 hrs! (God hasn't that changed......a few yrs ago it would hve been more like 7-8hrs!!) One day I only got 2hrs nd I hd a really bad breakdown, sobbing and teary all day. Poor DH is getting the same sleep, maybe little more, but not much. But he can cope alot better with little sleep he's more used to it from having been in the navy.
You're lucky you have someone to look after the kids. I don't, my mum won't even do it if they're sleeping! One thing I can count on is that they both sleep from bout 7-11pm. Just enough time for a nice dinner out for DH and I, but mum just won't do it...what if they wake up??? I seriously have no idea how she parented me and my bro's!
Glad to hear things are getting a bit better for you too. Things do get easier. It's so hard the first few months. I didn't really feel properly human til Liam was about 4mths! Now I feel ****ty again cause of lack of sleep!! Ugh, I can't wait til one or the other of them sleeps through the night every night!
We are doing ok. We had a great night sleep last night, Liam slept for almost 6hrs straight, and one of his teeth is through, so I'm hoping I get some time off the hourly waking for a while! Lil did pretty well too, once she came into our room, she slept 11pm til 4am straight. So I'm feeling pretty human today! Yay!! Must go and make the most of my mood, lol! Hope all are well.
-
Well I wrote this huge post the other day and BB packed up, so I lost it:( Oh and I had to take my ticker off coz the picture was too big:( Never mind. It was good while it was there!!!!
I think I was talking about hips....yes, I had Hip Dysplasia when I was born, so both my girls having it has been unlucky. Its more common in first born girls (I was 2nd girl and my sister didnt get it and neither did my 6 brothers) and its also common in breech bubs and bubs with feet problems....both my girls have had feet problems (positional tallipes...Rebeccas was called something different, but hers was bad...its kind of straighter now!!!). Yeah rebeccas hips are no where near as bad as Olivias, which is good. I just hate waiting to see the specialist...joys of public system!!! Oh well thursday will come around soon enough!
kaz- hope youre feeling better soon. If you want I can look after Pip for you/
Kel- I dont know how you do it. You have been blessed with crappy sleepers. Am hoping the sleep well soon for you and can totally understand your meltdowns. I would be a basket case!!!!
Olivias been sleeping in her toddler bed the last few nights. Sometimes its great...the other times are bad. Thismorning DH and I woke up coz Rebecca was awake playing in her bassinett at 830. We were saying how good it was that Olivia had slept in, then all the sudden from the floor we heard her start talking. We didnt hear her come in!!! I checked on her after beccas last feed at 615 and she was still in her bed!!!! Must have come in and got no response from either of us and fell back asleep on the floor! Today I had to take her out for a drive to get her to have her arvo sleep...thats how I have to do it atm!!!
Ok...enough rambling!
-
more fires :(
so, so tired
Woke up to find something smelling really bad. It was Pip - he had pood and it all went up his back (erk) - DH's fault as he put him in a sposie overnight.
Have you noticed our little munchkins are becoming little boys and girls instead of babies?
-
Hi!
Long time no chat!!
Ok - it's a miracle - I've got 3 boys asleep!!! (Louis rarely has a sleep these days!) I'll try and catch up a bit!
Kel - Glad you had a good time at Adelaide! I hope works going well! Big hugs on Lily not sleeping well...I don't blame you for being exhausted! I guess the best thing to do is just look to the future and know she wont' keep it up forever...I know it doesn't help much now but obviously she is just one of those kids that needs to have that comfort.
Bugger at your mum not wanting to help out...it's not that hard if one wakes up - or even 2 - she doesn't have to keep them in a perfect routine while your out...Have you explained to her that you really need the break?? Big hugs...
Jen - Glad you guys are well! Washing...lots of washing - about 2 loads everyday to keep up, some days 3...crazy!!!
Dylan is often grumpy after he wakes up from his sleep...especially if I take his dummy off him! Sometimes he just stays grumpy for the whole rest of the arvo and sometimes he perks up quickly - food usually does the trick most times!!
LOL on the posh and becks comment - I like it! Hehe! I do think it will be nice when they're older and don't want anything to do with mum (when I'm embarrassing) and the boys can go bush while I pamper myself at home (or a day spa??) Hmm...it's more likely that I'll be bush with them I suppose...I wouldn't want to miss out any fun! LOL!
OMG at your dry cleaning bill - thats more than my wedding dress cost - LOL!!!
A pilates class sounds like a great idea! I'm thinking of starting dance classes again (hmmm - been watching to much so you think you can dance? I think!) There's a class about 10min away and I've been thinking about it...would be great to get out and do something on my own that was exercise not work and I'm sure I'd love it!! Anyway...we'll see!
Mel - Would love to have a catch up soon! It has been far to long and I would love to meet your little princess!
Olivia sounds just gorgeous with her talking...awww. Yeah on Becca having good sleeps as well! Sounds like you're doing really well!
Yeah at losing weight! It certainly makes you feel good doesn't it! I've lost a bit but not from exercise so I still feel wobbly iykwim?? If I start exercising and toning up I'm sure I'll feel much better! Another thing to fit into the day though!!! Let me know how you got with a p/t if you get one - I'm thinking of doing that course next year as well!!
Hope Beccas hips end up being ok! How's Olivia now with her wheezing?
Disgirl - How cute Ben getting a beer for Craig!
Yep - Louis is loving kinder - he has his first full day tomorrow - 2 1/2 hours! LOL! He's very gorgeous though and misses me and the boys - the first thing he does when we pick him up is give Dylan and Ethan a cuddle!! I felt a bit emotional leaving him since I'm not even used to him being in childcare of anything but he was fine of course. They get to that stage when they're so ready to go for the stimulation that you're happy for them to go as well...I miss him when he's gone though! God knows what I'll be like when he goes to school1 LOL!
Yeah at getting up and to the hospital by 9.30am! woohoo! I still struggle to get out of the house by 9...we have playgroup at 9.30 on Thursdays and I just made 5min late last week...mind you I didn't get out of bed until 8am! LOL!
Sounds like you're doing really well - good for you!! Housework and all!! I've still got the housecleaner but we can't really justify the money anymore...It's so great to have it cleaned but looks like I'm going to have to start doing it myself again...grrr!
Hope all turns out ok with Jarred and the extra tests...
Yeah at joining the gym! Thats great you've got you mum to help out and your sister to go with!! Should keep you motivated!!
Kaz - Sorry to hear you haven't been well. How were you yesterday in the fires near Belgrave?? I'm not even sure if it's still going?? I think everyone got a big fright by that one!!
Bugger at Pips biting! I would definitely just emphasise the being gentle like Mel said. I'm sure persistance will pay off and he'll stop soon!
Aww poor bubs being so sick...hope he's all better now!
Well, where to start! It's been a few weeks! We had my Dads wedding on Black Saturday up at Yarra Junction - it was very eerie with smoke everywhere and embers falling but we managed to all have a great time. I left Ethan at my sisters house with mum though as it was just too hot for him to be out in it as you can imagine in 47 degree heat! LOL! The boys managed really well though. We were all oblivious to the tragedy that was happening at the time which was probably just as well for my Dad and his new wife! Thankfully we haven't been affected by the fires...
Yep - Louis has started kinder and has resumed swimming lessons - he's doing really well at both!
Dylan is still a cheeky monkey - has the worlds worst temper and loves to say No more than anything else. He's talking so much now and we can understand him so thats great!
Ethans well - he's settled down a lot more now and for the last 3 nights has actually gone to bed around 7pm - the first time since he arrived I think!! Last night he slept from 7pm - 7.20 am with no feeds so I've got nothing to complain about - LOL! He's very gorgeous and gives us lots of smiles!
We started playgroup last week which the boys loved! I met some really nice ladies as well and felt very welcome which was nice!
I'm well...Starting to try and get my party plan businesses up and running again...we really need the cash as even though interest rates are low we're making extra repayments - about $800 extra a month!! I'm very proud considering we're only on 1 wage at the moment but some extra cash will be great.
I've decided to study next year and do either a cert or diploma in Life Coaching. I've been looking into it heaps and I'm really excited. I also want to do my fitness certs so I can be a personal trainer...want to work with women and those with babies/kids that can come along to the exercise...it's so hard for people to get to the gym with kids and especially when you have to pay more for creche when you have more than 1 child! Then I can team it with the life coaching and provide an allround service for Mums/women to get the most out of life!!
(Sorry for the rambling - it's all in my head at the moment and I don't have time to act on any of it but am excited for it at the same time - LOL!)
Ummmm....Not much else happening really...we're heading away for our annual holiday on the weekend - a whole weekend away! LOL! Just down to a little place called Toora...nothing exciting there but I've never been and while the kids are so little there's no point doing anything too exciting! We're staying in a cabin thing in a caravan park and they have a heated indoor pool and playground and stuff - all that we need really! We're hoping ot head up to QLD at the end of next year to go to wiggles world before Louis gets to old to enjoy it!
Ok...sorry for the rambling - it probably makes no sense - it's taken me all day to type!
Chat soon xoxo
-
KRIS!!! Great to hear from you! I think it's great that you're looking into doing the life-coaching. From how you come across online, I think you will be great at it.
Isn't it great to really dig into the mortgage now? Craig and I aim to pay $20K off the principle each year and if interest rates hadn't dropped we would have struggled to make it this year with only 1.5 wages. We are going to hit a significant milestone with our mortgage this year and I think we're going to go on a holiday to celebrate :)
Ben's favourite word is "No" at the moment, but he says it with such a cute little accent that we normally have to stiffle giggles
Kel, I don't think I'd be able to do it right now while Jared is still so little, but I'm not far away, so maybe we should meet up and once you get to know me and feel comfortable with me, I'd be happy to take the kids to give you a break. :) You're nice, having dinner with your DH, if I had a few hours in the evening where the kids were asleep, I'd be asleep too
Kaz, Please stay safe with all those fires around :( Poor Pip, he seems to be having a rough trot with his health.
Mel, I suppose it's a good thing that they knew to look out for the girls' hips. We still haven't heard anything about MSUD and Jared so I'm guessing it's a good thing. I'll worry until the end of the week. by then I should have heard if there was a problem.
Us, we're having a great day. I took the boys to the community nurse this morning and they were both weighed. Ben's almost 13kgs - and feels it  Jared is a little oompa lumpa! He is already 5.55kgs! That means he's put on almost two whole kgs in his five weeks! He's also grown 4.5cms! I guess he really likes my milk - not that I'm surprised since he was feeding so often.
We also went shopping, just me and the boys and did really well. I had Jared in the Hug A Bub and he slept the entire time. Ben was really good, so earned himself a Thomas book. The child is obsessed with Thomas. He has 15 little paperback books and carries them everywhere. He 'reads' them every day and Craig and I have to read a different one to him every night at bedtime (and I often read several throughout the day) and then he 'reads' himself off to sleep with it. It's actually really good as he will also play with the books while I'm feeding Jared which really makes it easy. He also plays his Thomas traintrack all the time. We've bought him an addition for it for his birthday so we know he'll like that.
Okay, my time is up! At least I got SOME time on here!
-
Hi!
Disgirl - Sounds great to celebrate your mortgage success with a holiday! Good for you!! We don't have the cuteness with the word no - we have tears and screaming - he has such a bad temper. Everything is a drama with out little Dylan - LOL! He's going to be a very strongwilled little boy as he grows up - I'm actually already dreading him becoming a teenager - LOL!
Wow at Jared gaining so much weight! I think Ethan only weighted a bit more than that at his 3m check up! LOL! I think Dylans around 11kg give or take...
LOL on Ben being Thomas obsessed!! It makes it easy to buy pressies - I have no idea what to get Dylan for his b'day...the boys have everything already!! (makes me feel a bit guilty for spoiling them..oh no..hang on...I'm over it!! LOL!) I'm thinking of a cubby house and maybe some Cars - lightning mcqueen stuff...oh I don't know - there's nothing he's really into - he just likes everything!!
Ok..better get some stuff done..chat later!
-
Hey Kristie...good to hear youre doing well. I would love to catch up and seeing youre just down the road, I have no excuses!!! Good that Ethan has settled for you too. I would love to have a P/T that I could bring my girls to. I went to the gym yesterday to find out about membership...basically it works out way to expensive with childcare on top and you are limited to going in the morning sessions. So wont be doing that. Am waiting for dh to finish making shelves forthe shed out the back and if theres enough room i might pop a little gym in there. Might cost a bit more up front but I wont have to pay childcare!
We got a trampoline for the backyard from Aldi the other day. It was on special $150 from $279. So Olivia is on it constantly and she has aslready worked out that if she drags her stool to it she can get in without my help!!!
Went back to the gp yesterday. She has oral thrush and a thrush rash around her vagina... such a well bunch we are! Shes still wheezing but I cant get the ventolin in!
Rebecca has conjunctivitis again, this time in the other eye. I am supprised Olivia hasnt got it the way she cuddles her and smothers her!
Kaz- hows the fire threat going? Hope youre ok.
Mel- good luck with Jareds results hope everything is ok. Wow at his weight gain. Becca i think is about 5.5kg at 3 month check and Olivia is 13 kgs and so tall! At least she'll be taller than me (5 foot 2). Gets it from dh whos 6foot.
Ok beccas awake. Catch up soon
-
Hi!
Well nothing really happening around here so I have been reading but not posting to save you all the boredom of my posts!
Beau is good, although he fell on his lip earlier on the concrete playing with the dogs, a fig and banana smoothie fixed him up! He said one of our dogs names today "Lou-Lou" and said "clothes" yesterday - as in "mummy hang out more clothes, mummy fold more clothes.." you get the idea I am sure! (specially you Kris!)
Been working loads and set up my friends gift fair last Friday, she is urging me to get some business cards made up, which I think I will do as all the magazine editors are always interested in the merchandising, I am keen to get one up here to photograph the house and get some good paying work out of it - DH is excited he might get to be a SAHD!!! No, I am keen to do some more work, so we will see....um what else? Beau had a 3hr sleep yesterday, only 1hr on Monday which was the oscars, I even ASKED him if he could have a long sleep for mummies favourite day of the year LOL!
Um the phone has just rang and Beau has just woken up so I will drop in later for personals ok?
xxxx
-
Hey Jen- I love your posts. I sit and read them and imagine where you live, sounds lovely. poor B hurting his lip, isnt it great how food fixes everything! Hope things work out for you on the job prospect....
I wish both my girls would go to sleep. I wanta a nanna nap today. Olivia gets me up in the morning and says wake up mummy and starts pulling my clothes out of the cupboard.
Crying becca..
-
Hi!
Louis had his first full day at kinder today - a whole 2 1/2 hours! Michael just picked him up and he got to have a special ride home in the ute - It's only 1km away on back roads soI thought it would be ok as a treat! Dylan was feral this morning and was in bed by 11am!! Only had an hour sleep and wouldn't have an arvo snooze so I think he's on his way to being feral again! LOL!
Mel - Thats a good idea to set up some space in your shed! I'd love to be able to to p/t at peoples homes too so they can exercise while the kids are asleep/watching tv. Also run group p/t so that it's affordable for people - all the problems I see being a mum. Could even be mothers groups at their meet ups!! Anyway...
Big hugs to the girls being unwell...the trampoline sounds great! My boys love theirs...
Jen - I agree with Mel - your posts aren't boring at all! I love reading about what you guys get up to! Poor Beau hurting his lip. Yeah at his words though!
Yeah at getting some more work potentially!!! I'm such a magazine junkie...you name it I buy it (or used to read it!) The difference is your someone that could be in a magazine and I'm the one that just admires everyone thats in them! LOL!!!
LOl at oscars being your favourite day! I didn't watch it - saw a bit of the red carpet though (the best part by far! LOL!) I'm glad Heath Ledger won..not that I've seen the movie! hehe. It's funny in the photos on the red carpet that you pick up a lot on the wrinkles etc on the actors since it's in the daytime...I'm sure they'd hate that - they certainly have loads of make up on!!
Mel - Gosh...I can't remember what a daytime sleep feels like! LOL! Hope you get one soon!
Better go and get some stuff done - the house looks like a bombs hit it...we have now cancelled our cleaner - boohoo...Can't justify the money any longer...not sure when i'll have time to clean it though...LOl!
-
Oh no Kristie what a hame about the cleaner!!! I didnt end up getting one so the house is untidy all the time and the bathroom only gets done when I find the energy. Sounds like Louis had a good time and a special trip in the ute is good. Olivia loves her special trips in daddys landcruiser!!! I got about 5 minutes sleep on the couch while Olivia trashed the lounge. Shes not had a sleep so I have to make sure she gets dinner soon, then bath then bed by about 630 7. Is Dylan not having day sleeps anymore?
-
Hmm, I posted here this morning but it's gone! I'm pretty sure I pressed the right button, but with baby brain I could be wrong...
Jen, your posts aren't boring! Post away, we like hearing from you. As if any of us have exciting news (most of the time) anyway.
Beau sounds like Ben. Today I was ordered to "eed" the garden. Ben was pointing out the areas most in need of "eeding". Very helpful he is  When Craig got home from work he was ordered "Daddy, up, EED!". Apparently I wasn't doing a good enough job
All this talk of exercise has made me really keen to join the gym next week. I'm dying to get some exercise and I have a wedding to go to in April and a gorgeous dress that I want to wear to it. Gotta get a move on if I want to fit into it again!
Bugger, terrible timing. Jared has been asleep for two and a half hours and just now is waking up as I get on the computer!
-
wow, Jen, your posts are great. A different life than I :) Nana's fix everything I find - maybe cause they are so big you can't cry & eat a nana!
Kris - wow at Louis' first day at Kinder, were there tears? Poor Dylan with his sleeps - cubby house would rock, Bunnings have some great sets you can add to with climbing walls and everything!
DG - woohooo! great growth spurt there! yay on booby juice!
Mel - home gym sounds good, wish we had the ability here. Wouldn't mind the time either. How funny on the trampoline!
Us - well, Pip's starting to sing songs quite well, found him sitting in his highchair singing "twinkle twinkle" with full actions. The CC has given him a teething ring to bite instead of biting someone. Not sure if its working yet! Horror night last night, Pip would only sleep on our laps, I left DH at home with Pip on his lap @ 6:30, apparently he stayed there until 9:30 ... ha ha ha ... about time it happened to him!
Have a good day all.
Enjoy the 'eeding!
-
Hi!
Mel - Bugger about 5min sleep only...Yep - Dylan sleeps every day - he's only missed 1 once I think!!
Disgirl - Nothing like a bit of motivation to get you exercising!!
Kaz - No tears at kinder - he loves it!! I've got kinder duty already next week so will be interesting to watch and see what happens...
I havent' thought about Bunnings for a cubby - might have a browse - was thinking just to get one off ebay...they're soo expensive brand new!
How cute Pip singing!
Dylan is trying lots at the moment - he loves trying to sing the alphabet and he loves Pink! LOL! He's always calling for Louis at the moment which comes out "ouis" - we read a book earlier and he surprised with knowing pretty much every animal in it. The biggest surprise though this morning was him doing heaps of a alphabet puzzle! I nearly died...it's so funny - Louis has always been good with words and talking and Dylan hasn't been to fussed but it's amazing how much he knows that we don't know iykwim? It's all starting to come out now though...he's a very clever little boy...(not biased much am I?? LOL!)
K...chat later!
-
Hi ladeeees!
Wow we really got busy with the posts!! Great to hear from everyone!! :D
Mel, I would kill for my kids to sleep until 8.30! I don't remember the last time I slept that late! I was quite chuffed with Lily's 7.20 this morning...pity Liam woke at 6.40. Mind you thats 100 times better than the 5am wake ups we had a while ago! LOL @ Olivia falling asleep on the floor, how cute!
Sorry to hear you're unwell, I hope you all get better soon. Have yout ried to give Olivia some enliven or something similar, it helps the gut get healthy again after thrush, and is just good for you in general.
And I bet your house is nothing compared to mine at the momnet.....I just can't keep up.
Kris, woah! What a mega post!!
Yeah, thinking about the future does nothing for me! I try to think that it has to end sometime, but then I think 'WHEN!!!' I honestly thought that Lily would be sleeping through the night most of the time by now. She doesn't even do it one night a week. And she still wakes probably on average 2 times still. Then with Liam waking probably 3 times....I'm not a happy camper. I have told mum that it's just one night, blah blah...she even knows how it feels to be in this situation (or so she says) cause my brothers are the same age apart. And my eldest bro was a bad sleeper, my second bro a little whirlwind like Lil. Again, so she says.
You would think that if she really knows how I was feeling that she'd be a bigger help. I have promised Lil that I will help her all I can when she has kids.
Good luck wiht your thoughts on studying and stuff. When you do start you can come here and help me sort out my life, lol! I'd love to get a life coach to help me, but alas, they cost money....
Yay that Louis likes kinder! Lily loves her childcare too, she gets so excited to go to the point that I can't tell her where we're going until we're actually ready to walk out the door and go there!
Dis, thankyou for the offer of help, but I think you have enough to do! It would be a nightmare having my kids and yours too, imagine, two (almost) 2yr olds (plus Lil would probably corrupt Ben!), a 6mth old and a newborn....uhhhh, no! You'd go nuts, I'd come back and you'd be rocking in a corner somewhere, LOL!!
And as for eating with DH, well that's the only time we get to really see each other. I often am in bed by 9pm, if not earlier.
Jen, I agree, you're not boring!
Lol @ Beau and his words. Lily says 'cleaning' now. When ever I'm doing something like dishes or dusting she will say 'mumum keenin'. She is saying sooo much now and is putting her words together, like today she said 'Ooookay, lets go...play kids!' When we were on our way for her to go to childcare and me to work! Just waaay to cute!
Kaz, how cute Pip singing his songs, it's so lovely to hear them isn't it! Hope you have a better night with him tonight. At least it's Friday tomorrow...end of the week!
Ok, gotta go to bed now or I'll never get any sleep! Byeeee!
-
Hey Kel - Helping your kids out will be the best thing you can do!! I don't understant either people who say they know how hard it is and then avoid you like the plague!! Surely then they must understand how far a little help would go. My mums favourite is "well, you wanted them"...LOL! I think it's in some peoples mentality to have the attitude that "I did it all on my own and managed so you can to"...a bit sad really...
Big hugs to you...
It would be nice to think they sleep through by this age but they all have their own little funny ideas. Dylans an atrocious sleeper - he's up often 3-4 times a night - usually just for his dummy though so it's quick but still a hassle. Michael gets up to Louis and Dylan every night though...Ethans quite a good sleeper luckily (overnight anyway...) so often Michaels up more than me!! Poor bugger...he really is such a great help - I wouldn't be able to do it without him!
It is hard to think of the future when you're in the moment and your tired and drained...big hugs...I promise it will get easier though...just take each day at a time...
I'd love to help you out (when I know what I'm doing!) Most of it's done over the phone so you can be my guinea pig!! LOL!
Thats great Lily likes cc so much!!

Wow, what a busy day on here!
Kaz, I'm jealous of Pip singing songs! Ben doesn't sing any, but then again, I don't really sing to him anymore so I only have myself to blame!!! I used to sing to him every bedtime, but then he started telling me to "Stop!" and putting his hand over my mouth  I'm not that bad at singing -honest! Now he tries to get me to stop when I sing to Jared, maybe because I'm singing 'his' songs? I don't know. The past few days I've started singing Twinkle Twinkle, I'm a little Teapot and a few others and he asks for more so I might do it more often. I'd love to have him join in or do it on his own like Pip does. :)
Don't you feel a perverse satisfaction when you're DH has a shocker with them? It's mean, but at the same time it's like "Now you know how I feel!"
Kris, yay on Dylan doing the alphabet puzzle! I know what you mean about them knowing stuff that we don't know they know. It seems like every day Ben does something and Craig and I look at each other with a "Did you know he could do/say that?" look on our faces
Bugger that Dylan is such a bad sleeper. We have our off days, but thankfully it's not every day. You're lucky you have such a helpful DH. Craig is good, but works nights so it's always me up with them at night since I'm the only one here. He's good about getting me to have a nap during the day though, if Jared will allow it.
Kel, you made me laugh with the image of me sitting in a corner rocking  You're right though, I'd probably have to enlist the help of my mum or sister (or both). They are both naturals with kids, it's crazy. Mum used to have Ben and two of her grandkids (now 8 months and 12 months) by herself with no probs at all. It helps that they're all angels for her. I left the boys with my sis last week while I got my hair cut and she has the 8 month old as well. I came back after nearly three hours and she was calmly playing with Ben and her bub while Jared was sitting in her arms! I don't know how they do it!
If you're ever really stuck though, let me know. I'm lucky, I have so much good and willing help around me. Two of my SILs and my sis are always asking if I want them to take Ben for a while and then I have my mum and MIL. Don't know how I'd get by without them!
Speaking of not know how to get by... I'm wondering if I'll survive the day! We had a shocker here last night (again!). There's something up with Ben - I'm thinking molars maybe? He was up for hours last night and they were doing tag-teaming again. I even did something really naughty at 5am when Ben was finally asleep and put Jared to sleep on his tummy :( He has terrible tummy aches sometimes and that seems to help. I have the movement monitor so I figured it would be okay, but I still didn't sleep very well - worrying about him. I'm operating on about three hours' sleep today, although Craig took Ben to the park this morning after work so I got another two bursts of 30 mins each before Jared was starving again. This weekend I think I'm going to have to express so Craig can get up with Jared and a bottle. The only problem is that sound travels really well in our house and I will probably wake up anyway!
Still, I'm in a good mood today - probably delirious with lack of sleep! I just ordered some more cloth nappies to make myself feel better  And I was a recipient of a random act of kindness here and didn't even realise it until last night! If it was one of you girls - THANKYOU!!!
Okay, Jared's calling - AGAIN!
-
Oh yay Im not boring!!! He he..thanks girls!
I just jumped on here now Beau has woken up after 45min - and he went mental at playgroup, I thought he would have a nice long sleep. I only just got through reading the posts! Beau has been a bugger yesterday and today (same as Ben, Dis) - I think it is molars too - he just grumps and whinges and fake cries about EVERYTHING!!
Dis - Sorry you had a shocker of a night, when will teething be over????? Super cute with Ben and the 'eeding! Sounds like a bossy boots too! I wish DH would have a shocking day with B, every time I leave them for work, its like they have the best fun ever, and DH always says "He has been an angel all day" - secretly DH would love to stay home with him so I can never complain too much really. Our house is noisy too, I know what you mean - poor you not sleeping, fretting over Jared on his tummy - aren't we hopeless?
Kel - Oh Kel, you brought a tear to my eyes saying you have promised Lil to help her later with her kids. My mum is pretty up front about not "helping", I mean she lives too far anyway, but she has said she is over babies/kids now and finds it too tiring. I respect that cause they are!!! But its always nice to have the support, I guess, like Kris's mum saying "you wanted them" its just their generation. I think they had it a lot tougher than us for the most part with support from a partner (our DH's are more hands on usually) and financially too so....who knows? Even if your mum gave you emotional support not even physically being there it would be nice x
Kaz - Cute at Pip doing twinkle twinkle! Ha ha at DH having to nurse an almost 2yr old on his lap for 3hrs!
Kris- glad you are doing ok - Yay at Louis at kinder, how cute! Dylan sounds very sweet with his puzzles, must have a good teacher! Sorry that your Dads wedding was a bit traumatic with the fires and everything - must have been a big day for you all. Your new business venture sounds exciting, its great to have something to look forward to and make you feel good about yourself, not just as a mum. Good to hear that Ethan is sleeping well at night, sounds like Dylan has regressed a bit! Must be difficult trying to juggle three and knowing whose cry is what in the middle of the night!!!
Mel - I hope the girls are on the mend with conjunctavitis and the thrush, you guys are in the wars! Cool at the trampoline, Aldi have great random things sometimes dont they? We bought outdoor solar lights there the other day!! And the nappies are great too! Good idea with the shed, i want to do pilates here but the only class I can go to is a bit far away , on a Saturday and is $18 a session! The close cheaper one is only on weekdays...trying to get fit is expensive and tough!!
Ok I have left B whinging in his cot while I have been posting so I better go and start the afternoon of fun....not!!!! Its tough when they start doing all the tantrum related stuff huh? - Beau is so darn strong too that he really hurts when he kicks and thrashes around!
-
Hey all...girls are on the mend....but I expect with another dramatic weather change, we'll have colds or something!
Rebecca had her review today. She didnt have to go in a harness...YAY! The specialist will see her in 9 weeks to make sure the hip is ok and growing well, so in 9 weeks time I will be stressing again. He said it will more than likely resolve itself as it is stable.
Will do personals later....just wanted to share some good news:)
-
Mel, that's great news re: Becca's hips!
Jen, We really liked Aldi's nappies too and used them for months, then Ben started to develop a rash from them :( His skin is hopeless! Now we're using cloth and Huggies again ($$$$) for hopeless relos who don't like cloth when they look after him :)
Just a short one today, I have a squirming little man on my lap and a bigger one trying to help me type and it's driving me nuts!
-
Wow Mel thats so great about Rebecca's news - must be a weight off your mind! Glad the girls are on the mend.
Dis - Beau has sensitive skin too but thankfully he hasnt ever had a rash from the Aldi nappies - we kind of alternate between them and huggies as we dont always go to the centre that has Aldi. I want to get some more MCHN when we get pregnant again (fingers crossed) - I loved the ones I had but B has grown out of them now, the were organic ones and far to dear (arounds $100 a pop) What kind do you use?
Us - I am working tonight and staying in the city and working tomorrow - I just went to the chemist to get sleeping pills as I never sleep away from home...oh well hope its not too painful! Beau is a bit better today, hope he turns for DH LOL!!!
-
Wow, busy girls!! It's great to see everyone in here again!!
Kris, I usnderstand those stupid sayings, my mum's is 'Been there done that' I'm sick to seath of hearing it. One day she'll say it and I'm going to snap and say what I'm really thinking instead of biting my tongue (sometimes I actually have to BITE my tongue to stop it coming out!)....She also says the 'I did it by myself...' but the difference is that she had her children young and her mum was still working full time...my mother doesn't work.
Some days we're up 4-5 times for a dummy too. Or it's for a 'dink'. She drinks up to 300mls through the night sometimes! Or she's lost her 'bap'...blankie. Sometimes through the night if she's in bed with DH I hear her say 'Da?' cause she can't feel him touching her and he has to move closer and hold her, it's sooo cute! But usually it's just 'numnum?' (dummy). Every night like clockwork she wakes at about 11pm and has to come into our room to sleep. I think she knows that Liam is there with us and she feels left out. If we don't bring her in then she's awake a thousand times a night and it's just so not worth it.
DG, I wasn't implying that you're not capable of doing it, but it would challenge the most seasoned person to care for that many under 2's!! I would go insane that's for sure. I do here when its just Lil me and Liam! Especially when I have to feed him and Lil's in a mood. You are very lucky to have so many people wanting to help though. I wish I did.
I hear you on Jared sleeping on his tummy. Liam likes to as well. And he has to be wrapped still, so he's like a little catterpillar, lol! He can still roll in it all believe it or not. I try to keep him on his back, but usually wake to him on his tum, with his head on my boob  his own cosy, milky pillow...lol!
Jen, lol, I get a bit teary when I think about it too. But I have had some really atrocious days, weeks. I just want her to know that I will help her. I'm her mummy and if I don't help her no matter what, who will? I hope she has more friends and inlaws and stuff to turn to aswell, but if she ends up like me with not many friends (and none that I would really call on for help) and no other family that will help, well, I'll be there for her. I don't want her to EVER feel as bad as I have at times in the past 2yrs. At least your mum is honest with you. Mine isn't, she tries to find every excuse under the sun, it's all about everyone else, other people's fault, there's no 'I'm too old/ tired/ lazy to look after her'. Plus she looks after my bro's 2 kids and has done so for 8yrs. So to me if she can do it for them, why not mine? Or even help in other ways. She could come and help me clean my house, or cook a meal and bring it over. But no...
Ok enough ranting...you hit a sore spot of mine!!!
Have fun working this weekend...is it fun to work weekends???? LOL!
Mel, yayyyyy about R's hips!! What a relief to know, for now at least, she's all good!
Our weekend will be fairly quiet I think...no plans at the mo anyway, but that might change at the drop of a hat!! Have a great weekend girls.
-
Kel, it's all right. I probably COULDN'T manage all four of them  I just feel so bad that you have nobody to help you out, especially since I'm so lucky.
LOL at Liam using your boobs as a milky pillow. Jared's favourite way to go to sleep right now is laying on my chest using my boobs as pillows. They're grow up to be booby men for sure
Jen, we use Baby Beehinds for Ben and will be trying Jared on them for the first time sometime this week. We have never had probs with them for Ben and he doesn't mind the bulkiness at all. We have had slight leakage once or twice when we use them overnight, but that's it. I've got another lot on order right now - a six pack for $125, so they're much cheaper than the organic ones you've used before and they are a one-size-fits-most variety so we can use them for both boys. I have a few Baby Beehinds all in ones as well for Ben and they're good too.
Okay, Jared is starving (Bloody 6 week growth spurt!) so I'm off to feed him yet again!!!
-
Hey Ladies,
Such a gorgeous day here...we have walked the dogs to the shops already and mowed the lawn - my legs are buggered now as I spent all weekend up and down a ladder painting trees on walls at work!
Beau is good, seems a bit happier than last week so far....he is saying his own name a bit now and starting to repeat words straight after us. I missed him like crazy when I was away overnight and its always so worth it when I get back in the car at the station and he holds my hand from the back seat the whole way home....pretty cute!
Kel - It must be hard to understand why your mum can look after your brothers kids and not yours, you must have a lot of self control not to blurt out things you might regret, especially whent they are dismissive comments about what you are going through right now. Where do DH's folks live? Are they more supportive at all? I cant imagine what it must be like still having Lil waking so much in the night -it must feel like you have two newborns at night time, especially with DH sleeping on the floor, you must feel like a full time mum and nothing else sometimes? IYKWIM? I guess it wont be forever and it will get easier.
Dis - I have checked out Baby beehinds before on a website, I will definately keep it in mind for the next one (hopefully) - we still have the occaisonal leakage with disposables when Beau drinks a lot before bedtime so I think you get it with anything really.
Ok, I am doing nothing until Beau wakes up! Ta ta!
-
Its really worth getting dedicated night nappy if you're having leakage problems - or it can be worth using both long boosters instead of one long, one short. Try to use a wool or fleece cover overnight so the butt breathes.
/off hobby horse :)
Love the new av DG!
ARGHHHH I so want to start TTC! Have a dr appt on the 26th and if my meds are all stable then we can start, I never wanted this long a break between kids.
-
Hey girls, probably a quick ramble from me this morning before the girls are at it. Its been a horror few days, Becca has been fussing and doing overnighters and doesnt want to be put down. She has 200mls of ff and has only been having bits and pieces at a time and feeds have been taking 1.5hrs (not great at 3am). She has been sleeping for 10 minutes the wakes up screaming. Luckily Olivia has been pretty good with it all. On Saturday night we stayed at mums and I got little sleep as Becca did the whole crying thing til 1230 and would only settle for my mum and then Olivia was awake at 430...dont blame her the portacot was hard as a rock. She wouldnt go back to sleep til mum left for work at 630. So I was K.Oed! Must be a growth spurt for the little moo!
Olivias been in her toddler bed for 2 weeks now without too much hassel. We put Becca in the cot yesterday for a nap and Olivia stood on the side and screamed....wake upppp baby becca!!! Needless to say she did and it took ages to comfort her!
Ok O is awake and trying to type!
-
Grrr! I posted last night but it's not there!! I hate that!!
Just a quick one then to say hello!
We had a great weekend away at Toora - the boys had a ball but are both now sick with colds - again! It was so nice to get away as a family with no distractions and we all had lots of fun playing on the jumping pillow, playgrounds and swimming pool!!
Mel - big hugs on Becca being a little terror at the moment! Hopefully she settles down soon...
Kaz - I hope you can TTC soon!! Good luck!
Kel - Dylan wakes up for a drink as well...I really think most of it is just waking up and getting in the habit of us being there...we're thinking of getting rid of his dummy soon so hopefully that may ease the problem a bit...we just need to get the willpower together to do it! LOL!
LOL - My mum also says "I've paid my dues" wtf? Was it that awful raising kids??? I can't wait to be able to tell my kids when they're older that it was the time of my life! I so look forward to doing so many exciting things with them and letting them experience as much as I possibly can! Kids are born with a thirst for knowledge and it's up to us to keep that going in them...you see so many young kids without any drive or interest and I think it's really sad! Kids are meant to be full of energy and excitement, it just gets knocked out of them over the years...Sometimes I think us parents expect too much of them - expect them to be little adults when they're not and it just causes frustration...
Anyway...enough of my rant! LOL!! I find I have so much to learn about raising kids - I want to do it the best way I can - I'm forever reading magazines/books about it all - but most of it comes down to changing my patterns from what I grew up with!! Sometimes not as easy as it seems!!
Hi to everyone else!!

Kris you are such an inspiration, good on you for your amazing attitude towards motherhood and being a nuturing parent. I find when I hear mums/dads talking to their children when we are out and about in a way I wouldnt choose too, it re-affirms the mum I want to be and that I dont want to become one of "them". Things like "Whats the weather going to be like today" from a little boy finding something to wear to the lady I stayed with on Friday, from mum "What do I look like the weather man?" and when kids make a request and parents say 'I dont care what you want!" Imagine how the kids feel? Ick!
We are all doing a great job, just the fact we are on here looking for advice and support on raising our kids shows how much we care. Good on us!:D
-
Jen, isn't this weather much better? The boys and I have been out much more frequently lately. Maybe that's why they've both settled down a lot more?
Kris, I hope I don't end up like that! I really love being at home with my boys and I'm hoping that that doesn't change :)
Mel, sounds like a growth spurt to me. Geez, I hope Liv gets used to giving up her cot soon!
Kaz, thanks for the advice re: a night nappy. We use a wool cover at night and of late haven't had any problems. Might look into a night nappy if we get leakage again soon.
I love my new avatar too!!!!
Us, we had a really good couple of nights. Jared has slept for five or six hours the last couple of nights and it makes the world of difference. :) Today I ventured out to my folks' house and the shops and still managed to do some housework and cook a baked dinner. Things are definitely starting to fall into place. I think it's all related to sleep! :)
-
Where is everybody?
We've had a good week or so :) Ben's back to normal with his sleeps now which makes a world of difference and Jared is having only one feed during the night most nights which is brilliant! He's also more settled during the day which means our house isn't totally awful anymore, just messy
We had a Mother's Group meet up on Friday and Ben had a ball playing with the kids... but not the kids from his own group  There was another group of mum's there with three year olds and he latched onto them! He seems to love the older kids a lot more. There us another mum in my group who has a bub 2 days younger than Jared and she is the teeniest little thing! She is just over the weight Jared was when he was born, meaning she is two kilos smaller than him now! Geez he looked like a big oompa next to her!
We've just started using cloth on Jared. I was sick of throwing away so much money - 40 cents a nappy at 8 nappies a day sure does add up. We're using kinda half and half, but it's good that I'm not going through a packet of nappies every few days. The extra washing really doesn't bother me at all. Hanging clothes on the line is actually quite relaxing - a few minutes out of the house away from the kids is all good!!!
Hope you're all well :)
-
Hello there.....
It is quiet hey Dis? I didnt want to post one after the other so I was waiting LOL!
Glad Jared is having only 1 feed a night - must mean you are getting some nicer stretches of sleep now. Dont worry, Beau has always been bigger than everyone else, he weighs as much as the three year olds at playgroup. DH's families babies are all light weights, but all my brothers are rugby players :p
We are hanging in, I had a scary morning with Beau, he has had a runny nose the last day and this morning seemed ok so we went to the shops, mistake! He cried the whole time and was really lethargic and floppy. So I went to the chemist and got him some neurofen and made it home in one peice, about an hour later and he seems much better - wanting to play and eat again. I havnt used Nurofen before, always panadol, but it seemed to work much better for him.
Apart from that, nothing too exciting! Just got some clothes from the US delivered that I ordered, and did a little parade for Beau before he went down - just some cheapie stuff but its nice to have some new things! YAY! Seem to be making some friends at playgroup which is awesome and have been drawing up plans for our house reno's so we are here to stay it seems!:D
Hope everyone is doing great x
