mmm I think I expect too much from DH too - You know when they are trying there best and do 9 out of 10 things right but you still let the 10th thing annoy you? When you feel like all you do is clean the house and say "No!" "Dont touch" and "Beaauuuu!" all day? I guess we loose sight of our abilities outside of being a mum. I dont have any friends around here either - except my SIL but she never "opens up" IYKWIM? I dont know what the answer is - I have lined up two freelance jobs in the city next month I think to re-connect with my busioness brain and be paid for it!
-
Holy Moly Mel.....see what happens when I cant get on the net?!?!?
Congratulations on the safe arrival of Jared Ray. And well done on the labor and birth and coming home so quick. Rest up and enjoy.

Dis-CONGRATS on the birth of Jared
I will apologise up front for the me post.....over the last month James has just been a nightmare which has left me tired, sad and feeling like a failure as a mum....Ithink going back to work after the xmas holidays has not helped at all either....and all of this because i gave in just once...one noght i put him to bed and he said "up up" so i figured it would not hurt to get him up for a little longer..well how wrong could i be...since then every night has been a battle to get him to bed and to stay asleep...I have to fight to get him in the cot and then he will just scream no mater how i try settling him it want work and then because he is screaming so much he will vomit so i give in and have to get him up..eventually he will go asleep but then wake up so i have spent the last month lying on the floor of his room just so he will sleep..if i added up the hours of sleep i have had I am sure it would not even add up to 24 hours in the past month...having Natasha whinging all the time as well and having to find activities to amuse her everyday has just left me BLAH....
Ok sorry about the whinge I just needed to get it out....Hi to everyone else...hope the new arrivals are doing well and the new mummies are getting more sleep with there new bubs then i am with my almost 2 y.o...
ok must go sorry for no personals Tash is now bugging me to blow up that 10th ballon and i will just have to give in to keep her quite so she want wake James...god i pray for me time
-
Hey Von- big hugs to you. You do need some "me" time. Sounds like you have tried loads of stuff. Ok, so heres my 2 cents worth and I know some people dont agree with it but for me it was a case of desperate times needed desperate meassures.... when we were having trouble with olivia getting off to sleep, mum suggested phenergan for a few nights in a row. So I went to the chemist to get some, they dont give it out anymore, so they gave me some polaramine....which is an antihistamine....which we also use for her allergies.....I gave her 3 nights in a row and she seemed to get into a routine. It worked for me, maybe you could give it a try. I felt guilty giving it to her for that reason but like I said, I was desperate......please dont think I'm a bad mother, but I did what I did.
-
HEy All,
Tis quiet in here....I just had the best sleep. It was still light outside when we went to be...930 and didnt get up til 445am. Back to sleep at 6 and woke to Olivia at 830. Its a beautiful day, hope youre enjoying it too.
Beter go get something done...the day goes fast when you get up late
-
Grrr, I wrote a post the other day and have just realised that it's not here! How annoying!!!
Oh well...It was something along the lines of the fact I can sympathise with you Von, and that you're definately NOT a bad mummy Mel. We all do the things we need to to get along in life. Our kids are none the worse for it!
How's this for a bad night Von...last night I was up every hour or more. Once for and hour and a half with Liam and once for and hour with Lily. Then for varoius reasons withone or the other, dummies, feeding, drinks...I'm beyond tired. I'm over trying to sleep. Why bother I never get to?? It was the same the night before. Night before that not so bad, but still pretty miserable! I'm soooo over it all and I'm considering going to Karitane, even though I don't agree with how they 'teach' babies to sleep. But I need to get sleep. I haven't had a decent nights sleep for almost 2 years. Now Liam is here it's even worse. I'm so jack of it!!
Ok that's my little whinge for the day, can't muster up the energy to write much more! Hope you all have a great weekend :D
-
Hey All....
Woah I am melting! I am over this heat already! I think our electricity bill is going to be in the 4 figures! And I am ovulating so DTD is sending me over the edge! Its too hot for that!
Wow Kel, on your scale my night was tame, once at 11:30 to turn the ac on and open Beaus door, waking him up in the process and having to sit up with him then to get him back off then my silly dogs escaped and were in the neighbours yard barking their heads off at 5:30am!! Hugs to you, I think in this heat its hard to sleep anyway and function in the day let alone with two wakful bubbas! I think you should call karitane, you never know, now Lil is older, she might take to it quicker and it wont be as bad as you think. Its worth a try. You can make the times as short as you want that you check in on her remember, you need some rest, otherwise its impossible to think, be a mummy, be happy or string a sentence together! Would you consider Lil maybe going into family day care or something for a day a week to give you a small break?
Mel - Wow you sound rested after your nice sleep! Good on you - hope it continues! I wouldnt feel guilty about any decisions you make as a mum, you have to look after yourself and your sanity too so you can be a mum afterall.
Von - Wow you have been through the wringer, James sounds like he is punishing you for going back to work the only way he knows how! Does he take a bottle to bed to chill him out? Is it his teeth do you think? Have you had his ears checked out? Sorry I have no real advice but I hope things are improving now x
Us - Were ok, my SIL just rang and they are doing a pop in soon so I need to get moving....my other brother is coming tomorrow and I have had my mum and her husband here this week and they are coming again next week to stay. Dh, Beau and I are going to hibernate at home this long weekend I think!! Happy Australia Day everyone!!!
-
Melissa-I was prescribed phernergan from my GP when James had an allergic reaction to something and his eye puffed up the size of an apple...anyway I have heard that is makes them sleepy and thought yay maybe I would get some sleep..BUT would you believe it did nothing to help him sleep...it did however help with the eye:rolleyes:
Kel-I am sorry that you are also having sleep issues...I would call Karitane you have nothing to loose..I tried a centre like that here but it was not for me but i did pick up some good tips that i did not think of.
Jen-yep i am soooo over the heat as well I have a wedding to go to tomorrow and it is outside in a winery so I am hoping a cool change comes through cause i dont think i can stand outside in the heat for an hour while they get married....James still has a bottle at night..the only way i can get him to sleep, I am thinking it may be his molars coming through...
us-well last night i was up every hour and a half with james so feeling stuffed again today..what i find amazing is dh just sleeps through it and at the moment he is sleeping in the room right next door to James' (don't ask)...anyway when i go into James' room i can hear him snoring through the bloody wall:wall: ok well i have a wedding tomorrow and nothing to wear so will have to go pull all my clothes out now to see what is wearable...
-
Hey Von...hope you found something to wear to the wedding in this ridiculous heat! You know what they say, babies can sense tension in the house....otherwise maybe Dh's snoring is keeping james awake too?????LOL
-
Hey girls,
I've been MIA due to a couple of days of feeling really tired and unwell. Two bleeding nipples and a mastitis scare thrown in just for good measure!
Apart from that, we're doing well  Jared had a great night last night... slept for four hours, woke up for a feed and then slept for another three. Boy it makes a difference! For the first three nights he was here, I didn't sleep much at all, which is why I was feeling so ill. Anyway, hopefully it's all behind us now.
Ben is waking too early in the morning though which is a pain. He hears us up at 5am and decides that he'd like to get up and play too. Hopefully he'll settle back into later sleeps soon. I don't think the ridiculous heat has been helping much either.
Sorry, I don't have time to catch up much right now, I want to right up my birth story before it becomes too foggy to remember.
Take care :)
-
Howdy girls,
Wow, time is so flying for me I come in here thinking it's only been a day or two since I posted, but it's been almost a week!
Jen, the heat here has been foul hasn't it? I've been going from my place (aircon) to mums (aircon and pool) and back again, and that's it! Though today was much cooler! Thankgoodness. Since having Liam I so can't stand the heat...
I'm so torn over calling Karitane. I get to the end of my tether and then all of a sudden we;ll have a week of great nights and I'll think thank god she's sleeping, and then BAM! It starts again... and I just keep thinking it will stop soon, she's nearly 2 and she'll get the sleep thing...and now I think her ears are playing up again which is why she's been so bad again. SO I just don't know what to do!
I would love to ba able to send Lily to childcare or something for a break, but money is too tight for it. CC in our area is $60 a day, just too much. As an early childhood teacher, I have very specific requirements too, so it will be hard for me to find a centre! Family day care is cheaper and more appealing, but is fairly hard to find a place. She will be going to occaisional care when I start working for four hours once or twice a week if I need it, but otherwise it's too much money :(
Von, your nights sound like mine lately...they suck. Big time! My DH isn't as bad as your's he does eventually hear the kids, but he can sleep through most of it....where as I'm up at every peep. I think that's half my problem. I think that makes it all the more stressful cause they're not there to help, kwim. Well it does for me sometimes, and I resent that he can have a good nights sleep regardless of if the kids are wakeful or not. WHere even is the kids have a good night and I get to sleep, I can't cause I'm wondering why they're not awake, LOL!
DG, sorry to hear you're having a tough time. I hope things settle for you soon, it might take a few weeks but it does get easier and you get used to the extra work. You're lucky Jared is sleeping so well already, Liam is still up every 2-3hrs most nights :( Sorry to hear Ben's up early though. For me it's the early mornings that are the killers.....anything before 6am these days really hurts!
As for us, well, DH is on holidays now for 2 weeks (yay!) and I get to catch up on sleep! LOL :) Lily has been ok, a bit stroppy some days which has got me thinking her ears are sore again. I will be taking her to the GP tomorrow, and we have another specialist appt in mid Feb. I'm thinking dairy will be off the menu for a while. Which is ok for me, at least she won't have to have an operation sor grommets.
We are going to Adelaide in a few days (so I won't be online much in the next week or so) and then I start work and uni again in Feb, so I will be busy busy busy!!! I only have one unit to do for uni, and I'm only working 3hrs a day, but it will be fun trying to keep up with everything! I'm thinking BB might be the thing that's going to have to suffer for it all! But I will still be around a bit.
Ok that's it for me, I hope everyone had a great long weekend!
Ok gotta go
-
Hey Mel- sorry to hear about your sore boobies...ouch. Like Kel said, things do get better...albeit slowly!!!! Bugger Ben is waking up early though, hopefully he will settle quickly back into his old routine.
Wow kel you are going to be one busy chick...i admire you. Have fun in Adelaide.
Us- well Olivia is pretty much finished with her day sleep:( She gets tired around 5pm which is wy too early, so the rest of the evening is hard yakker coz shes a misery guts. We get her into bed by 7 ish and shes asleep straight away. I miss her having those arvo naps coz I am buggered by then. Am hoping its a phase. We still go through the same routine though- in bed at 1pm and bottle, she has rest time, although she usually does poos so i have to take her out of the room. Oh well....it cant last forever.
Shes back climbing everything again. She tries climbing the fly wire screen door, on tables...which she fell off today and scraped her chin, up on the edge of the couch. Oh and shes also worked out how to climb up the handles of the cupboards in the kitchen.
Rebecca is doing well. I cant believe she is 10 weeks already tomorrow. How time flies. She smiles lots and is desperately trying to make noises...so cute. She has her moments with feeds, last week for 2 days in a row, she fed 2 hourly and didnt want to be put down, then the following day she slept all day between feeds. I can never keep up with what shes doing!!!
We are doing pretty good managing it all. My body has healed reasonably well, although I have about 12kgs to loose:( Doesnt help with the bowel of ice cream dh made tonight:) Dont think I will go back to work this year either, unless we are desperate for money. And if I need to I will probably do night shift on the weekends.
Ok, I should get to bed...the tennis is keeping me up, and bb!!
-
Mel, Olivia sounds like Lily. She's a climbing monster too. Lil climbs up the kitchen drawer handles to get onto the bench....so now I just let her have a dining schair there to see/get what she wants and just make sure I don't leave anything dangerous there  I'm fast running out of surfaces to leave 'stuff' on. Like important papers, just things I don't want her having!
Don't admire me yet....not sure how I'm going to go! I'm thinking I might be a tad ambitious yet! But it's stuff I have to do, I have to go back to work and I have to finish my degree this yr or the rest of it will have been for nothing cause I can't do it next year. So it's all a matter of have to not want to!
-
Hey All...
happy Australia Day for yesterday....we performed our patriotic duty and had a sausage sizzle for lunch, lamb rack for tea and followed it with mini pavlova...its tough loving your country so much! Hope everyone else had a good day too....
Mel - Oh, I think I would be mourning the loss of day sleeps too....I hope for you it is just a phase aswell. I guess just keep putting her in there and hope for the best. Good on you not having to work for the rest of the year (I mean PAID work that is) :)
Kel - Can you put your name down for part-time family day care and maybe by the time you start up uni again something might pop up? I think its good you have high standards! At least you are super aware of what they should be doing etc, I have only ever looked at one daycare when Beau was 1month and left crying! (I am sad tho!) It does sound like LIl's ears, good luck at the specialist - I cant imagine Beau having to give up dairy! It would halve his diet  Have a great time while DH is off all together, try and find time to put your feet up and let him take Lil out for a bit to give you a break. (even better L & L and go see a movie)
Dis - Oh Dis I hope your mastitis has cleared up. I am sure you are doing amazingly well with the boys. Hope Ben starts to sleep in a little bit more, bit tough if he hears Jared though! How is he settling in to being a big bro?
Us - Beau is coming out with lots of new words every day atm, he is discovering lots of his toys a bit more and is obsessed with his wooden skittles and standing them all up and bashing them down, he is obsessed wth drawing!! All day its "drew drew!!" Its always hard when DH has a few days off and goes back to work..we realise how much we miss him x
Oh well, better go and take advantage of the little one being asleep...
-
Good morning!
Oh how things have improved here! My mastitis has cleared up without too much trouble and I'm getting a bit more sleep. Jared is asleep in the hug a bub right now - he seems to like it as much as his big brother does, but if this heat keeps up, he won't be in it half as much. Ben is still asleep and it's 7am! When I got up for Jared's feed this morning I just sat in silence watching him feed instead of turning on the tele and that seems to have done the trick with Ben - yay! I just hope it's not a one off.
Jen, don't you love all the new words? We miss Craig when he's back at work too. He's only had to work two days since Jared was born, but things are back to normal from tonight :( It sucks here because I have breakfast and bedtime on my own which is pretty tricky.
Kel, hope you're having a good time in Adelaide. You're in for a busy time with uni, work and the two littlies!
Mel, I don't know how you and Kel deal with the climbers you have! It would drive me nuts!!! It's bad enough that Ben can now reach a lot of things on our counters and table by standing on his tippy toes!
Von, I hope your nights get better soon. It's horrible when you're up all night and even worse when DH doesn't hear a thing. I can't sleep through the slightest noise from my boys!
Ben has been doing so well with the big change in his life. Yesterday, Craig went through the alphabet and he repeated every letter after him  So funny. I managed to get half of it on video. Most of the time I miss all the cute things because by the time you get the camera out - you're too late!
He's also back to eating better and last night had an awesome 10 hours (he's just gotten up now). Something I hope is going to become common again!!!
Well, best get him some breakfast. Hope you all are coping okay in this horrible heat :(
-
Hello just a quickie from me...its way too hot and I must get Olivia to bed. Shes been off her day sleeps for over a week now and today she fell aslepp on her bedroom floor at 4pm til 530 so she is running around the lounge room like she is on speed...and the squeals!!! Shes learnt to climb up on her booster chair and our bed today:( She also eluded me out the back and ran onto the concrete which was very hot an she screamed so loud. we popped her feet into cold water but shes ok...obviously...shes running after the dog!!! And ...oops "fall down"...giggle!!!
Back to her day sleeps...I want them back! Although bed at 7pm for 12 hours is good too!!!
Mel- you sound great. Glad Bens settled back into things. isnt he cleaver.
Jen- Good to see you had your lamb and pav...ooh pav...yummy!!! Beau sounds like hes picking up loads of things. Olivia just yelled out "mummy computer" They are amazing arent they. I didnt teach her that! Does your Dh have to go away for waork or is it long days? i miss mine too, specially if hes working on the car out the front!!! Just kidding...I do miss him when hes working!
Us...again...we are good. DH got me a wii and a wii fit today to help me along with my weight loss. You see I was tossing up between a gym membership or a cross trainer...or the wii!!!! I have about 12 kgs to loose, so its going to be a long process. We both want to loose it by DHs b'day in July, so I think thats pretty achievable.
Ok, should go and wind Olivia down, shes so high at the moment.....just gave becca a kiss, clapped her hands and squealed away!
-
Mel, Craig and I got ourselves a Wii for Christmas, aren't they fun? I'm getting a Wii Fit when I hit six weeks, if I get it before then I will use it and that's probably not a good thing so soon. I'm also joining a gym with my sister. I got fat after I gave birth to Ben - yep, put weight on AFTER I had him  and I don't want to do that again.
I wonder how Kel is doing in the heat in Adelaide?
We're doing okay here. Last night was much better sleep-wise. Jared seems to have two four or five hour blocks of sleep during the night which is marvelous - when Ben sleeps too. Still having a few issues there with him going to bed and staying there all night, but last night was a vast improvement.
I've got my first MCHN visit today. I wonder if she will weigh my little chubba bubba again!
-
Ok what do I do??? I just watched Olivia climb into her cot...with the side down, THEN she went to the end of the cot where the change tble is and proceeded to climb over the end of the cot onto the change table...Oh no!!!! I think the whole going into a bed is sooner rather than later. First its day sleeps, now this!! What next? Shes so hyper again today, wizzy dizzys in the lounge, jumping on her trampoline!!!
-
Hi Everyone!
Oh you guys are funny with you Wii's! Let us know if they work for weight loss ok? My SIL/BIL got one at Xmas and one day their little girl had a sling on from too much Wii Tennis! (they are hypocondriac kids but!)
Mel - Far out Olivia is going nutso at the moment hey? I think she is needing the big bed if she can climb in and out of the cot anyway, just put something soft on the floor under the cot until then? Change table.....um move it away from the cot? Sorry! Not much help! "computer" is a big word to learn! O is having a hell of a growth spurt! My DH just does really long days in Sydney, he is looking for something up here but the jobs are in hot demand around the coast as you would imagine. It doesnt help that he doesnt enjoy it (the job) and is so in love with Beau, so its a bit of a struggle (leaving us).
Dis - Yes, please take it easy for a few more weeks! Good on Jared for those sleep blocks, thats great! Good luck at your appt! Oooh I know, poor Kel, poor Lily and Liam too - I hope where they are staying has AC, but I think they are having black outs now too.....yikes!
Us - Feel a bit lethargic today, went to the park with B and the dogs before and came back and had a shower I was so sweaty! Now sitting in our sunroom doing zip while B is kipping. B was much better with my mums husband this visit, I have been prepping him before they come "going to see Poppy and Nanna?" a thousand times and it seems to help:D
Ok back to burning the millions of pics off my laptop onto disc. Thrillingly mundane job!
-
It's quiet in here ATM.
I've got a few minutes while Ben is watching Thomas and Jared is asleep :)
Jen, glad to hear Beau is doing better with his Poppy. This past two weeks has been awesome for Ben, he seems to have really come out of his shell and warms up to people really quickly now. We've had a million visitors as you can imagine and he is quite happy to talk and play with anybody who comes over.
Isn't this weather horrible? The forecast keeps promising days below 30, but then as the supposedly cooler days get closer, they change their minds! Would love a few days under 30! Ben is getting cabin fever. We went to the park yesterday morning at 8am just so he could have a run around outside. Any later than that and it's just too hot.
Mel, I don't know what you can do about Olivia! She must be a good climber! I'm so glad that Ben is still showing no signs of wanting to climb all over everything. He's too interested in chasing a soccerball around!
We've had some good days here. I think it's because Craig's been home over the weekend. Last night Jared slept from 11pm until 5am - what a champ! Unfortunately, Ben was up at 4am, but you can't win them all! I swear they're a tag team sometimes! Mum is coming out tomorrow morning and is going to stay for a couple of nights. Craig works a double shift on Tuesdays, so works Mon night, Tues and then Tues night which makes it a bit hard. Don't know what I'm going to do when I have to do it without mum's help as well.
Best be off. I think Ben needs a bum-change and I can hear Jared stirring. At least I got five minutes to myself!
-
Hi!
Sorry I have been away so much...can't seem to keep up with much at the moment at all!!
Disgirl - Congratulations!!!! Sounds like your doing so well!! Fantastic news!!Wow - Jared sounds like he's doing great sleeping for that amount of time already overnight! What a good little bubba... LOL on getting fat after having bubs - I find it easy as well...I usually lose the initial weight and then start gaining again...it's called eating for energy - If I haven't had much sleep (always!) then I usually go for the junk food to try and boost my energy levels...doesn't work to well though but when will I learn? LOL! I've only got about another kg to go before I'm at pre-p/g weight but actually want to lose another 3-5kg to be looking good!! LOL! Then all I'll need is a tummy tuck to get rid of my feral stretch marks...
Jen - Hi! Sounds like all is good in your neck of the woods as well - I hope you dh finds a job he likes soon!! Ooh...I really need to do the whole photo thing as well...I haven't put any in albums for a loooonnggg time...another thing on my to do list - LOL!
Mel - Wow at Olivia climbing so much - have you tried just taking the side of the cot off (if it allows you??) Otherwise the move into a big bed will be a good idea. Dylans in one now with no hassles...although he does get up and knock on his door sometimes! LOL!
We're all going well...The boys are great...Louis starts 3yo kinder this week! Dylan is doing so well talking lots - he loves his dinosaurs (thanks to Louis!) and is saying triceratops and t-rex! Very cute. He's learning new words everyday and I can often have a little conversations with him now...He knows so much more than he lets on thats for sure!! Ethan is my little clingon baby...and I think is now going through a 12w growth spurt...he's feeding all the time and then ends up with wind - wouldn't go to sleep until 10.30pm last night! Then was up at 2.30am and 5am for a feed and is now up again - wtf?? Hopefully it won't last too long as I'll lose my mind! hehehe. He's so gorgeous though - he's settled down a lot in the last couple of weeks I must say...
Ummm...not much else for us...
Hello to everyone - will try and catch up on a few more posts later! Bubs has now woken...again!! Better go...Chat later!! xoxoxoxoxo
-
Hi girls,
I am back! No time for personals or to catch up with posts. We had a godd time in Adelaide, though the weather was extreme, 46 degrees the first day we got there! Due to the weather we couldn't really do what we really wanted to, but had a good time anyway.
Liam is sitting and doing a catterpillar crawly thing, so cute! i start work this arvo, I'm excited, nervous and worried about leaving my little man for 4hours! I have never left him more than about an hour! And I only managed to express half a bottle.... Oh well, it's ONLY 4 hours....eek, my baby!
Lily is cheekier than ever, and is now saying 'MINE!' , OOOhhhhh, terrible 2's here we come! She has been sleeping really well while we were away, but I think it was because we all slept together. DH and I dragged the mattresses off the beds and put them on the loungeroom floor cause the ac was in there and it was just waaayyy too hot to sleep in the bedrooms! So lily slept like an angel! But made up for it last nigt....
Ok gotta go, hope every one is well!
-
Hello All....
Mmm much cooler here today...I even have leggings on, nice change after all the sweating! Everything is good here, Beau has been pretty settled the last few days, he is obsessed with the three yr old boy next door! He has sworn a lot to me imiating his dad though so I am not that keen on him playing with him! He has white blond curls and is always naked, he looks like an angel but isnt! Everytime we are outside he has his head over the fence so it is unavoidable!
Kel - Glad you survuved the heat and still had a good time, sounds like Lil enjoyed the sleeping arrangements! Hope work was ok and separation from Liam was bareable. Beau says "Mine" too - I have consciously not said it to him ever..where do they get it from???
Kris- Hey I hope you are getting some more sleep with Ethan now- you all sound well, dont blame you not keeping up with much! How are you coping with all the washing? I only have B and I wash EVERY day!
Dis - Hope you have survived without DH the last few days and your mum has been a good help. Bless her coming to stay with you! I think Beau has been a little better with his shyness too - love little Ben, he is probbaly so glad to be the centre of attention now if he can, he will play with anyone who will play with him! Good on little Jared having such big sleeps for you!
Us - I think I am ovulating a few days after I think I really am, DH just wants to do it whenever and just get pregnant boy or girl! Needless to say we had a spontaneous DTD on Sunday after O...could be another little Beau on our hands he he
xxx
-
Dang it is quiet round these parts......
Have had a horror of a day with Beau, we went to playgroup this morning for the first time this year and he had his shy face on which was Ok, but after his nap he did his semi-usual crying for about an hour after he woke up pooey....then was just a massive grump/clingon for the rest of the night and being naughty!!!! Agghh!!! Am working all day tomorrow so DH is going to have him all day.......ok my rant is over! There was a little 4wk old premmie boy at playgroup and it made me think of all the little bubbas in here! Ooohh he was so cute!
-
HEllo hello....tis quiet in here, I suppose everyone is busy with bubs and niceish weather!
Jen- happy O day...hope you got lots of DTD in!!! So, DH is happy for either.....is he just clucky now? Have a great day at work.
Kel; glad you had a nice time away, shame it was too hot. Always good to get away though. Hows Lil going with her sleep? And Liam?
Hey Kristie- hows it going with Ethan? He must be keeping you busy as we dont see much of you around. Must catch up again soon.
Has anyone seen Kaz and Von?
Mel- hows it going with Jared>?
Us-we had agreat night sleep, Becca slept from 9pm to 6 and is back to sleep. Olivias day sleeps are still up the putt, yesterday she slept on our walk and woke up grumpy. Shes probably had 3 sleeps in the past 2 weeks. If she sleeps during the day now, she isnt tired til about 9pm, if she doesnt I struggle to keep her awake and she goes to bed 7pm if I can hold her out. Thats if she doesnt fall asleep at the table! Shes doing great with her words, stringing together3 to 4 words at a time. She has a huge vocab and now shes spontaniously telling us she loves us. It melts my heart. Shes constantly singing too...and squealing!!! Ok better go feed her some breakfast
-
Kris, so good to hear from you! How did Louis go with kinder? Did your heart break when he went in, being so grown up and all? I'm sending off Ben's kinder application next week and it's already killing me...and he won't be going for another year yet
Kel, Geez, it's been bloody hot down in Adelaide. You poor thing! Glad you decided to stay indoors as much as possible. I can't imagine taking a bub out in this heat. It's not much better up here today, and tomorrow is going to be even worse :(
Jen, have fun DTD! Craig is keen for a girl next time, so we might have to be a bit more controlled about when we DTD. I don't mind, I'd be happy with three boys, but he was a little princess, who will no doubt have him wrapped around her little finger!
Urgh on the infatuation with the little boy next door. Would be much better if he was a good kid huh? We have a little girl next door to us who is obsessed with Ben and he just couldn't care less about her  The poor little thing!
Mel, I can't believe Liv has given up day sleeps! That would kill me! How long does she sleep for at night? Ben only sleeps 9-10hrs so he definitely needs a long day sleep.
We've been good. Well, apart from my migraine on Thursday night - just after mum left! Grrrr... Craig had to stay home from work to help with the boys as I was good for nothing except being a cow and then going back to bed. Jared's poo has been green since, so I'm not sure if it was the panadol or something about the migraine that stuffed him up. Wasn't even worth taking the panadol since it does nothing!
Ben has been great. We can get nothing past him anymore, he doesn't miss a thing. He even knows Craig's routine. On Tuesdays, Craig works a second job and it's the only weekday where he'll come home and have a beer. Ben decided to help last Tuesday and when Craig got home, he went to the fridge, got out a beer and took it to his daddy! Not good with glass bottles, but still very cute! It's amazing how much they take in right now!
Gotta go, I have a lovely home-made hamburger waiting for me :)
Melb girls, enjoy the change in weather tonight!

Hi girls,
Well, it's been a while since I posted. Time managment has never been one of my strong points! And now I'm working and studying again, it's proving difficult to keep up with it all! Must admit not much studying or house work has been going on....I'm only working 3hrs(away for about 4) but it's still thrown our little routine out the window! Plus I'm trying to make up for the time I'm away with the kids (damn mummy guilt!). Work is ok, been a bit bored to be honest, that'll teach me to take a lesser position!
Kids are good, they've both had a bit of a cold, but nothing major. Lily's sleep is out the window still. She's driving us insane. I don't know what to do. It has gotten a bit worse since I've started working too, so that makes me feel even ****tier about working. It's a double edged sword...She cried so much she spewed in her bed last night. We let her cry for 2mins then go in try to resettle her and go in after 2mins...usually she goes to sleep after 2-3 times going in, but last night she was sooo worked up. DH got her up and she was shaking and so beside herself. He let her go to sleep on the lounge with him then put her into his bed (a mattress on the floor in our room). She wanted me to sleep with her so I got in with her until she went to sleep and then went to bed myself with Liam at about 8.30! I'm just so over it all and it's wearing me down.
Sorry no personals today, I have stuff to do while lil sleeps before work!
Hope everyone is well.
-
Kel, do you think Lily is affected by the heat with her sleep? We reckon that's why Ben is having such a rough time getting himself to sleep. His room is the only one that doesn't really get the cold air from the aircon. Poor little munchkin had a shocker last night - as did Jared. I'm living on no sleep today! Thank goodness for this cooler air and tomorrow is going to be downright chilly - woohoo!
Jen, I hope you guys aren't too close to the fires up there.
Are you Melbourne girls close to any of those devastated areas? It's so horrible I can't even begin to imagine how hard it will be for those close-knit towns to pick up from this tragedy :(

Hi All....
mmm Dis I know what you mean - I keep thinking of the people who perished together and with their kids, imagining what their last words were and how scared they must have been - I grew up in the Blue Mountains of NSW and we came close a few times and its the scariest noise and feeling imaginable. Not close to it really up here but the lake has been submerged in smoke and we havnt been able to see 100m most of the weekend. I came home on the train on Friday night from work in the city and went though it on the train line and it was awful. Ok! Phew! I am glad its lovely and cool here too today, sorry you are on no sleep, I hope the boys have some big naps today to make up for it now the heat has gone. I wouldnt mind having all boys either, I say to DH we would be like posh and becks, just poor! (and you too Kris of course!) I wouldnt mind always being the princess!
Kel - Gosh you are copping it huh? Poor DH too - sleeping on a mattress. How are you guys coping? Must be tough trying to keep it together as a couple too when you are so tired all the time. Completely freaks me out too cause we had a hard time when Beau was young and it took us ages to get back on track as a couple. Hopefully you will get some rest soon and feel better about everything. Who is looking after the kids while you are at work?
Mel - Bless Olivia saying I love you!!! Oh I cant wait for the day!! B says it inhis own way, with a big cuddle and a pat on the back and a "awhhh" from him!! Wow at Becca sleeping from 9-6! You must have felt like a new woman! Mmm I think DH is conscious of getting older frankly! His 43rd birthday is on Friday (I am 33 this year) and he doesnt want to be having babies in his fifties I guess! He is ansty to have more (well at least one!)
Us - Had an extremely long work day on Friday (5am til 10pm) and its too freaky coming home up here on the train that late, and people 'forced' me to share my cab with them - I got home and burst into tears! To think I am a big city girl! Beau is changing a lot at the moment which is awesome, he said "mouse" on Saturday and is in love with going on the bus now which he hated before. He bawled for both sleeps on Friday for DH and has done it for every one since...why does he always come up with something every time I go out?????
-
heys ladies, just popping by to say "g'day". haven't been too well lately but ya get that.
will come back and make proper g'days, read the thread in whole.
i don't get "i love you" yet but I do get smothered in kisses, he likes to kiss both sides of my cheeks for a while in the morning! Also a little parrot - have to be really careful what I say!
Jen - we're close enough to the fires, we're up in the dandenongs and there's a huge risk here - a stone's throw from a wildlife corridor that extends from the south to the north. my heart goes out to everyone affected.
don't forget to leave shopping until friday if you can, and shop @ coles, all profit going to bushfire appeal.
ciao lovely ladies.

Hi girls, just a quick one as Jared's hungry.
Things are going well here. I love the weekends as Craig is home two nights to give me a hand. Usually I have bedtime AND mornings by myself which is a bit of a struggle with Jared still up twice a night most nights.
We had to go back to the hospital for another heel-***** test on Thursday. I managed to get both boys and myself dressed and fed and at the hospital for a 9:30 appointment! I was so proud you'd think I'd worked out a plan for world peace  Jared's results for Maple Syrup Urine Disease came back elevated. We have to wait another 11 days to hear if we need further testing, but I'm not worried as he doesn't have any of the signs or symptoms.
Ben has been a star yet again. He now goes into bed and climbs in himself (his bed is high and he needs a stool which he was too afraid to use before). Then he reads one of his little Thomas books for a while before going to bed. Sometimes we read to him, but it's not always possible with Jared around and Craig often in bed at that time.
Anyway, they both want me so I'd better go and attend to at least one of them
-
HEy Mel, good to see things are going well. Can I ask what is Maple Syrup Urine disease? Got to go...Livs opened the fridge and has the yoghurt
-
Mel, don't you love that they can now open the fridge? Actually, once I put the Tim Tams out of reach, Ben's been pretty good  It's even quite handy now that he can go and get his milk out of the fridge while I'm feeding Jared.
Maple Syrup Urine Disease is apparently pretty rare. It means that you are unable to break down amino acids and can cause some pretty serious damage. I'm not really concerned as Jared isn't showing any of the symptoms, but it's still niggling away in the back of my mind.
We had a great night last night! Ben went down to bed after I read him a book. I left him with his book and he went off to sleep by himself. Then, Jared was fast asleep by 10:30 after a pretty unsettled day. We were up once in the night for a feed and then back to bed until 7am with Ben getting up at 7:30. Much better! I even did the washing up and mopped the kitchen floor (with Jared in the Hug A Bub) this morning. Quite an achievement considering I've done basically no housework since the little one was born (or even before he was born actually!). The sun is even out at the moment after a week of rain. Don't know how long it will last though, I don't think I'll risk the washing on the line outside.
Happy Monday all!

Yep Mel...I constantly have problems with the frige/freezer. Olivia is obsessed with peas and corn from the freezer so we hve had to put them up high, but now she stands there with the door open. Luckily its our new fride which has an alarm on it!!!
Good luck with the testing, must be very worrisome. (thats a word isnt it!!!)
Olivia didnt have a day sleep yesterday, so at the dinner table she was falling asleep. We got a little into her but she refused to eat so we got her a bottle of milk and put her to bed at 6pm. Well wouldnt you know it.....I got her out of bed at 730am. I was so scared she would wake up in the middle of the night. I went to bed at 10 and woke for beccas feed at 3am...back to bed by 415 (shes so fussy with her feeds atm, shes taking ages to finish), then I woke up at 730, got plenty of sleep coz I feel great!
Did I tell you I have lost 1.5kgs? I have my weigh in tomorrow, so am hoping I have lost a little more...my clothes feel looser and I dont feel like a blob! Better go, Olivia is trying to wake becca up......oh Olivia has been really hurting her sister. I think its attention seeking coz it usually happens when I say be nice to your sister, then 5 seconds later the poor little monkey is screaming. Yesterday she was really sobbing, so i got to watch Olivia closely.
Have a great day

G'day everybody!
Everything is going ok with us, I worked in the city on the weekend and am again on Friday, they are really long days, getting up at 4:45am and not getting home til after 7-8 o'clock, there is no way I could do it with a newborn/young baby thats for sure! The money will come in handy of course, there is a mega list for our house that we need...after all this rain the top of it is a dryer! And I have a massive drycleaning bill ($500) for my wedding dress (7yr old stains....)!!!!!!!!!!Wtf?
Beau is going great, lots of new words, he isnt at the 'parrot' stage yet though! We went to playgroup on Monday (we normally go Thursday) just to get him out of the house as we have a bit of cabin fever - He is going really well there now and not rough which makes it easier. Been feeling a bit low, I dont think the weather helps, I want to look into doing a pilates class or something, feeling a bit of a frump!
Mel, good on you on you weight loss! Been doing anything specific? Good on you having a good rest. Beau is still obsessed with the fridge so we still tie the handles off. Little Olivia is definately trying to get your attention with Becca, poor things when they will do anything for some mummy time - even if it is getting in trouble! Are you still breastfeeding Becca? I cant remember when you were going to stop - I hope her feeds speed up for you soon!
Dis - LOL at your house cleaning, isnt it the worst? You should be proud getting all of you out of the house for 9:30! Thats awesome! Good luck with Jared's test, I havnt heard of that disease either, sounds very unusual, is it? Little Ben sounds adorable reading his little book and dozing off all on his own...what a big boy! How is he coping with Jared now?
Kaz - Good to hear from you, sorry you have been unwell. Nothing too serious? I have seen the fires in the Dandenongs the last few days on the news, hope they get it out soon or you get some of our rain from up north. Hugs x
Ok, i am going to keep housecleaning while b is asleep, my brother is staying over tonight and he hasnt seen our house yet so the 'guest' rooms have to be de-junked!

Hey jen- am doing shakes atm but am looking at personal trainer..... not bf,olivia wants my attention...back later
-
Mel, well done on the weight loss! As soon as I get the all clear at six weeks, I'm joining a gym with my sister. Mum is going to look after the three kids (incl my niece) while we go. I'm so excited that it's a bit sad
Jen, Ben has cabin fever, but there isn't much I can do about it. I'm thinking I might have to take him to Lollipops or one of those places soon just so he can run riot. Don't you love all the new words? Ben is at the parrot stage and he seems to know which words he really SHOULDN'T say and makes sure he repeats those ones
Maple Syrup Urine Disease is very rare. I really don't think Jared has it.
Feeling great right now. The boys each had a four hour nap today, with three hours overlapping! It means mummy got a two hour nap too :)
-
Oh I'm back. Olivia went off to bed at 630...asleep in her toddler bed by 645. No day sleep again, so am hoping that she sleeps through in her bed.
Anyway I think i was saying that i was going to do personal training, just waiting to hear from my brothers. I need to work out who will look after the girls.
Jen- holy cow on the dry cleaning bill, must have been some good stains!!! And thats a long day to work. Hope you can get some time to do something for yourself.
mel- yay on the sleep. I go to the indoor play centre at least once a week to meet up with mothers group and if I am over being inside! Olivia loves it and she usually wears herself out. With the Mayple Syrup Disorder, would J be showing symptoms now? when do you get his results back.
Hey Kaz- good to hear from you, sorry you are sick. Have you been coping with the fires near by? Its real smoky down here, but i think there are fires at Langwarrin today too.
Got Beccas ultrasound tomorrow then review next Thursday. Should go shower.....

Wow girls, I'm finding it so hard to keep up. So sorry to be neglecting you all!!
Well, I'll just start from the last few posts, I won't go all the way back to where I last posted!!
Mel, congrats on losing weight! I wish I could focus enough on losing weight! I just can't seem to do it. I am losing some, but r e a l l y s l o w l y! I guess that's a good way to do it, but it's painful! I just want it all gone. I have lost 18kg's since having Liam (wow, has it been THAT much!?!?) but I still have about that to lose still :(.
Oh no @ Olivia hurting Becca. Lily does sometimes too, particularly when she's tired. She lays on top of him and sits on him at any opportunity! When he's on his tummy he doesn't seem to mind, but on his tummy he cries. I don't blame him, LOL! She gave him a bit of dry nutrigrain today, eeeekkk!! He was quite happily gnawing on it when I took it off him!
Jen, so glad to hear everything is going well. Beau sounds like he's doing great! You are doing huge hours! I couldn't do that long even without kids! I don't know how you're managing without a dryer at the mo...how ridiculous is this weather????
We have serious cabin fever here too, this rain absolutely sucks! Although we need it, I really hate the rain...Lily was at SIL's today while I was at work and when I came to pick her up she refused to come with me!! Little monkey.
Mel, I hope Jared is ok with his ***** test. But as you say if he has no other symptoms, he will probably be fine. But still it's scarey. Everything is scarey when they're so little. I'm only just now starting not to absolutely fret over Lily, poor kid!
Hey you wanna come to my house to clean, I just can't get on top of it with working and studying now...the day doesn't have enough hours. I cleaned the kitchen this morning and did a load of washing and folding and its all a mess again....I cooked dinner and did another load of washing and it's all just everywhere again, it's never ending!
Four hour naps, OMG!!!! I would kill for 2 hrs!
Well as for us, we have been ok. I have been struggling a bit with everything though. Just working those three hours a day has really thrown me off. I'm struggling a bit with getting it all done.
Lil's sleeping is no better, no worse (could it get worse??). DH is now just bringing her into our room and sleeping with her, so the four of us are in there! But I like it that way sometimes. I do really miss DH in our bed though. We do struggle a bit as a couple. We have so little time just us. We argue like we never have. But it's for a short time (looking in the long term!) and it is nice to have snuggles with the kids and DH some days. I jsut don't know what to do with her! Liam is getting there with better sleeps every now and then, he's having a day or two of 1-2 wakes a night then other nights it's 3-4 times a night. What can I say...some days are better than others.
Lily has been going to occaisional care some days when I go to work. She absolutely loves it! She won't come home when Mum goes to pick her up and doesn't stop babbling when she sees me, telling me all about it! It's so cute!! Other wise she's with DH when he's in between whifts for work. Liam stays with mum on the days Lil's at CC.
Ok, that's about it, I think I've waffled on long enough :D
