Kristi, its good to hear from you , and yes i find that my flow settles down , if im busy or out and about too much it comes back heavy and kinda get some cramping as well , and im glad to hear your back to breast feeding too .. its good for you both , and there are heaps of ways to increase milk supply as well .. i found this thread for you .. (and all you other ladies too ... )

its seems as though Aktivite (sp?) is the most common thing for increasing milk supply , its gotta taste better than herbal stuff ... i took this supplement from the health shop once , it was calles milk thistle or something like that , i dont believe it worked , but the ideas in the thread might work ...

Well nixon has been in his big bed/ new room for 2 nights now , and so far its going ok , he falls asleep really well , and the 1st night he slept through and woke around 6:30 am .... DH went and rested on the couch with him in front of the cartoons ..

and last night about 3 am i heard little footsteps around the house , and saw him come through out room ( its got 2 entries) and head for the lounge room .. i got him to come into our bed , had a bit of a cuddle and then thought ... "nope cant have this every night" so after a bit more of a cuddle i sent dh to put him back in his own bed ... DH slept with him as he was wide awake by this time and i could hear nixon babbling away to himself .. i am trying to be strong and teach him from the beggining to go back to his own bed ... ( as much as i love it when all of us are sunnuggled into each other)

Kellie: im not sure what i would do in the situation you are facing atm , but all i can give you is my thoughts on what i would do , Lily is still quite young and i know she has problems with her sleep and has had for a long time , eventually the patting and rocking to sleep will phase out and she will fall asleep on her own , a few months back nixon was a shocker and wouldnt go to bed , so we had to rock him in the rocking chair to make him fall asleep , it was so stressful as i was pg and he was kicking and screaming all over the place , but in the end DH & i looked at it from a differnt angle and looked forward to rocking him to sleep and having the satisfaction of hiving a busy toddler succumbing to sleep on our chest , we used to bicker about whos' turn it was

but now , having 2 in the mix is alot different , for now i wouldnt worry about routines .. liam just needs you atm and if he sleeps next to you , then let him be ... by about 3 mths of age they settle into their own pattern and are much more able to handle a "routine" so if you could please , for me , take a big deep breath in and drop your tense shoulders , now breath out , and hug your babies .... this too shall pass ..

dont listen to anyone elses negative bull**** ... try and do whats right for you .. Liam doesnt need a cradle yet , he needs you to cradle him in your arms

Danielle , stuff your your MIL says about wind my mum and anyother person in the older generation thinks every baby they see has wind , my mum does the same thing , tries to burp Gab every bloomin' time she sees her ... i just let it go ... and whats even more frustrating is that my mum took nixon for the day yesterday and wanted to know if she could have Gab aswell .... NO WAY , she is 2 weeks old ... she wont take a dummy or a bottle , so im glad she couldnt have her .. but then in the arvo , she was saying to gab how she saw a baby about her age taking a bottle and why couldnt she have a bottle too ... my mum has been know to sneak formula in to her grankids , because " they seem so hungry"

and i agree the switch from gold formula to plain stuff will be better for him ... a teaspoon of brown sugar and water does the trick too .... ( though he might be a bit young to cope with that just yet )

I hope you boobie gets better soon , may i suggest MediHoney ? or mauka honey ... its magic stuff .. scented or couloerd moistuiser could make it worse.. ouchies

Well as for me , there were no cars i liked yesterday , but dh did reveal that he's willing to travel to ACT to get the one that he likes, hes going to the bank today then it looks as though i will have a envy green ts awd territory.... hmm do i get a say in this, do i really want a fluro green car??? and do i feel like a "holiday " to somwhere where its stll -2 at night ??? not sure

we had pics for gabs twinle toes yesterday too... the lady asked if she was a good baby.. i told her she was high matainence !! as she feeds up to 3 times an hour the only time she is settled is if she is sleeping in bed with me (after ive spent an hour or 2 trying to get her to sleep) or if she is feeding or in the papasan swing , shes not too bad in the car either ... so she is forever in my arms or on the boob or in the papasan .. she will sleep for ages in there ( as long as its on ) so if i need a break i pop her in there and we are all happy ...

she still vomits up to 3 times after a feed .. my left side flows really fast so she chokes and splutters and never finishes a feed and then spwes it all up ... and poops and farts then gets the major case of the hiccups ...

like right now i just fed her and she spewed 4 times did a huge fart that scared her ..hehe and then pooed and now is hiccupping ..

im taking her to clinc today to weigh her and ask about her fussiness .. i really dont know if this is normal , refulx,colic or just a personality quirk

Hi Girls... Thanks for all your tips on the mastitis. I feel much better today. Although my milk supply in that right breast is still very low. I have begun the hand expressing after I pump & while showering each day. I'm trying to pump that breast every 2.5 hours. I think the supply is on the increase again. It certainly has lost it's lumps & redness. I just hope I can keep it away now. That nipple is really swollen & sore. I'm pretty sure it's from all the pumping. I'm trying to ice it a little after I pump.

Byron is doing great now with his breast feeding. He's starting to take full feeds from the breast, twice a day. I guess we'll start to do 3 feeds a day in the next couple of days. I just want to get him home. He was 35 wks last Tuesday & I believe they've gotta be term (37wks) before they'll let them go. So I guess we're not too far away. He needs to be putting on weight & feeding every feed off the breast aswell.

I will get to doing personals eventually, I promise.

me , well i think this is the baby blues ... i feel like crying over nothing and i miss nixon as i hardly spend time with him because gabriella is a velcro baby ... i just feel sad ... i have nothing to be sad about .. i dont really know ... and then i feel happy coz my babies are sooo lovely .. and then i get the ****s if nix cucks a tanty .. hmph .. i dont want to go anywhere today but we have to do the groceries (and no, i dont believe DH is capable of doing it on his own ) ....

Lea I'm alot like you, crying over nothing. It probably has something to do with the lack of sleep in the early days plus the hormones from the pregnancy/giving birth? I cant remember having it with DD though but she slept through the night from day one so I suppose my life went almost back to normal straight away, maybe thats why I avoided it last time?

belinda , i didnt realise chole was soo tiny 3200 @ 3 weeks ... how much did she weigh at birth ..

i am always amazed at babies weights .. dont know why though .. i guess i missed out on a tiny baby .. seeing as ds was 8lbs .. not entirely huge but was a chubba... gabs is only 3800 .. so she has put on about 250 grams in 2 weeks , not that you'd notice , 0000 still hang off her , but i like haivng her so petite ..

charmalea - She was 6lb 14oz when she was born - 3.1kg..

Snowychickie: Please dont put too much on when her weight is in two weeks, just look at your baby "Does she look healthy? When she is awake is she alert?" BF and weight just dont go together well, its never "right" as all our babes are different and all our milks are different. Trust yourself and your baby!

Milly - I'm not worried about her weight gain at all. She is happy and content and happy to sleep so the fact she put on weight was just reassurance that what i'm doing is fine. Clinic nurse said that 190g was a good weight gain so all happy on both sides.

I had another go at breastfeeding and it isnt as painful anymore YAY!! But my supply is low now so i have to give her a bottle after a feed. I have a breast pump on its way so hopefully when i get that i can increase it somehow. My CHN suggested i not take fenugreek until we know whats going on with my stomach.

kirsti14 - I had a supply issue and started taking motilium and my milk increased within 8 hours of starting. Supply went down a little a few days ago and took the tablets again and voila, i look like dolly parton again!

Belinda - hey hun hows things? Man you did well to shop up a storm. I went on Monday with my SIL and nephew and my nephew kept attempting to push Ali in her pram - at 5 it was a very funny sight indeed and we nearly hit so many ppl but all worked out in the end! Chloe sounds like she is doing fine on weight gain etc so I wouldnt worry hun as Milly said.

How was everyone's Fathers Day? My DH loved it ... first one and all so I spoiled him rotten and we took so many pics !!

Mel Things are good. Chloe slept from 10.30pm till 6am this morning. My sister had come to stay the night to "experience" the night with her and she slept the whole time. Oh how cute your nephew pushing Ali. Kids at that age are just so cute (my godson is 5 and he is just smitten with Chloe). Yeah weight gain was good so not concerned now, was a little before her weight check but not now as I know she is getting enough and she is certainly happy in herself with feeding and sleeping. Only issue is the recurrant wind but I've been giving her infants' friend after each feed and seems to help.

Snowchickie [/COLOR]Glad your DD is putting on weight, I let DS sleep as long as he likes too, the longest sleep he has each afternoon/night is about 7 hours straight, usually from about 8pm so I'm hoping it will change to a little later over time so I can get the most out of the block of time (sleeping! LOL)

I had his hands & feet done on Monday (twinkle toes but different company called Impressionable kids, the same people who did DD's) & I'm getting the photo tomorrow which was taken last Thurs. looking forward to it being finished.

Danielle_M - You just described my experiences also.. Only last night i was at my Mum's and Chloe was crying, mind you had been passed around for cuddles like a "pass the parcel" present and Mum kept saying she has pains and talking to her saying "oh you poor little thing you have pains".. She screamed the house down at one stage so all i did was take her and give her cuddles and off to sleep she went. Both sets of grandparents seem to compete for a hold which of course I completely understand but makes getting them off to sleep tricky. Chloe slept for 8 hours straight last night once we got home so just shows how tired she was.
I got Twinkle Toes done on Wednesday!!! Can't wait to see it.

You do all sound down...Tho Danielle was so right...THIS TOO SHALL PASS. I have great births and ok bubs but i always think of the first 6 weeks as a sentence....I have just found that one day you wake up and feel "normal" and in control again and it always happens to be at the 6week mark.

Love your bubbas and dont try routeen or change now....just get some fresh air and eat well..... You can do this and you are doing an amazing job! All of you

Im off to do a food shop...mmmmmm i love food shopping when i am breastfeeding a new born.... dont care about, cost, nutrition or value LOL

Wow I am so sorry to hear that some of you are not doing to well and feeling down ... I wish there was something we could do but all I can do is offer big hugs to everyone and I hope that you all feel on top of things again soon .... I never realised how hard this all is either and I only have Ali ... I think those of you with more than 1 have certainly done so well ....

Milly - wow hun such great advice and I dont think you could have said it any better ... I keep hearing about this magic 6 weeks which is next week for us so be intersting to see how things change if they do !!! Hope your food shop was a success !!!

Hi ladies,

Well we had another night from hell here. Lily screaming the house down, trying to get her into the routine of going to bed on her own, without rocking. Liam not sleeping again, we were awake between about 3.30am and 5.30am. I have no idea why he just won't sleep. I feed feed feed (feeding every 2hrs here), then burp, rock and jiggle him....still he just will not sleep. And he's waking agin now after only 30 mins of sleep. I'm going to go insane, he's sooooo over tired and just won't settle properly. Why oh why can't I have just one baby who will sleep???? Gotta go he's starting up agian.....

Kellie Huge hun, I hope you (& your kids) get some good sleep soon. It's so hard once their over tired too. I really feel for you.

Had a couple of bad nights here too due to Tobias being constipated. Wed night he was awake every 30 mins & just wouldn't settle. Everytime I got back into bed & my head hit the pillow & I just started to nod off he'd wake & scream!
Thurs night was better with him waking about every 2 hours.
Yesterday I changed his formula from S26 gold to standard S26 & today he did a good soft poo so hopefully thats the end of his sleeping problems (fingers crossed). Tonight is DH's night to get up to Tobias, even though I have to wake him for the feeds etc (wake DH not Tobias) I still wake but at least I can stay in bed for the feeds. If Tobias wont settle then I'll have to get up & settle him as DH doesnt have the patience. I can sit on the lounge for over an hour through the night settling him back to sleep but when its up to DH then anything longer than about 15 mins is too long then he gets cranky & impatient & I take over. So I dont really get a night off as such.

I really hope we've seen the last of the constipation though!

We just got back from having dinner with DD's best friend Coco & her parents (her mum is my best friend too LOL we met in our mothers group when the girls were a few weeks old) it was a nice night out, we had chinese.

I'm about to head off to bed & try to make the most of my time in bed while I can!

gosh ithought the other night was bad.....well last was worse. lily was soooo sick. she was vomiting every half hour or so from 1030. luckily i went to bed @ 8. at least i got a few hrs sleep. dh got practically none. im lucky he was home and not working. i wouldnt have been able to feed liam and look after lil last night. she seems better now so hopefully it will be a better night. of course liam had an ok night last night! though still awake for a few hrs at one stage (cant remember the time!!). ok gotta go the little man is calling again, hes really unsettled tonight

(((((((BIG HUGS)))))))) Every one sounds like we all need it seems im not the only one lacking in sleep im really feeling it to night so tired I really hope Eireann settles she was very unsettled this afternoon felt like I was feeding her constantly and she wouldnt settle and then screamed the place down so I gave her a bath to take her mind off what ever was bothering her seems to have worked she has a feed and is down asleep now I really should do the same LOL

no personals as I think we are all in the same boat so heres hoping we all have good night sleep ready to face what ever tomorrow brings

oh just wondering Eireann belly button came off but its been nearly two weeks and it seems to be a bit bloody some times when i change her its like it pops out when she get really cross and then is goes back in but it worring me a little Im hoping to get her weighed monday so will ask the health nurse or go to the GP just wondering if any one else baby belly button bleed a bit after the bit fell off

Nimah: gabriellas bellybutton does the same ,i was told it does that when it falls off too early ..as long as its not infected it sould be ok .. we just keep gab's clean and dry ..

yep another unsetteld baby here too .. i am pretty busy with work and try to organise my house and plan a huge party but i cant even get started as i have gab attatched to my boob every 15 mins ...

she used to be a "happy spitter" where she would just vomit up the milk she didnt want , but now she gets really uncomfortable when she is about to spit up .. then the pains come , i dont really want to go see the local CHN as i think i would look a bit dumb if her behavior was just normal , and my doctors are closed today and my gp is booked out for ages ..

my nipples are becomming sore again from her feeding or needing to suck all the time ...

lea - good luck with planning the party hun ... hope you find some time to get things done and that gab settles down ... does she spew back much? does she spew on every feed? just asking cause Ali is a spewer as well but only every few feeds and never on the formula feed we give her at bedtime she only spews back on my milk ???

niamh - hope everything is ok with the belly button ... and that your little one settles soon ..

kell - oh hun big to you as well i can only imagine what it must be like and having the build up of sleep deprivation wont be helping either .... i can drive after next week - I could come visit you and try and give you a hand or a break .... anything to try and help you out hun ... you are only 30mins away from me thereabouts !

danielle - poor little tobias - hopefully the change in formula is what he needed and he can poop easily now ! so hard when they are this little you wish they could talk and tell you whats wrong hey !! glad you had a nice dinner though feels good to get out and about hey !


we are doing well. went to the hossy yesterday to visit new babies, a friend had a daughter kyla and then i saw two girls from my birthing classes as well and their little bubs and caught up with all the nurses and lactation nurses who were there and they all agreed how big Ali is now she has stacked on a bit of weight - not fat just chubby cheeked ! Yesterday was sooo hot here Ali was unsettled and sweating all afternoon and feeding every 2 hours not like her but thirsty weather .... this was her first hot day so a bit unsettling and now today is overcast with thunder this morning .... can never pick it hey.!

I managed to get out and do gardening yesterday for about 30mins to help DH ... felt good but wasnt long enough as Ali cat naps chronically of an afternoon ... in the heat from yesterday no wonder though hey !

omg how expensive are parties !! we are having a naming ceremony and a birthday party for both kids next month , its going to cost about $500 ...eeeeeekkk

Well, things are just going from bad to worse....Lily has had temps of up to 39.4 and is just so clingy and sooky. And she's got conjunctivitis....I can't move without her crying. Liam was awake from 1.30-5.30 last night, before that Lily only wanted me so I had her on me half the night, then going to feed and settle Liam, I am so sick of having people attached to me. DH is sick today too, with bad gastro and a fever. Liam still isn't sleeping properly, day or night. I can't put him to sleep any other way thn to put him in the sling. My back is killing me from holding him and feeding him. I got about 3hrs sleep if that. I am over trying to sleep. Who needs to sleep, not me!! Sorry, Im in a really foul mood. And I'm so teary. I'm really getting to the end of my tether, it's so lucky that DH is home still, I would have lost it by now if he wasn't. Liam's waking again now after only an hours sleep. I tried feeding, bathing, feeding him to see if it would make him sleepy after he's been awake for hours, but no, it still took about half and hour to put him down. After he screamed and whinged and wriggled for ages...the nurse is going to call tomorrow to see how we went with the strategies she gave us for his sleep, well I think I can safely say I have failed miserably. Ok enough whinging.....sorry for the downer again, and the me post.

Wouldn't you know it, Liam has been sleeping since about 2pm, then Lil had a sleep for 2hrs. He woke for a feed then went straight back to sleep and has been there ever since. Little *****. Of course I chose not to rest until too late, though I got 40mins, better than nothing.

Mel, thanks for your offer of help. I wouldn't mind meeting one day??

hope every one is getting some rest its so hard the first few weeks and I keep thinking it will get easier as baby gets bigger but then I dont want her to grow to quick either

Im still tired Eireann didnt sleepto bad last night she seems to wake between half 3 and fuss till about half 4 or 5 am so im up and fixing her winding and that on till she settles then I know she passes out and has a great sleep but then our DS who is 2 wakes up and comes in to our room DH is getting up with him but is starting work tuesday and I know ill have to get up and im not looking forward to that at all

niamh- Chardonnay's belly button did that too. I was told to just wash it gently in the bath, then dry it (I use cotton tips to dry it) and put a folded tissue over her belly button and the nappy holds it on. When i did this it wouldnt bleed, if i didnt put the tissue in, it would bleed again. Took about a week to settle for her.

Im wondering if Chardonnay might have colic or reflux, somethings going on with her belly and feeding. She keeps screaming out in pain and gets fussy and has started vomitting after some feeds. Have to ask the chn on tuesday.
