Back from dr, the mastitis has turned into an abcess. Am now on 2 tablets 4 times a day Monday it was only 1 tablet twice a day, yesterday they increased it to 2 tablets twice a day... now I'm double double. Luckily the lactation consultant was at the pharmacy (she does wednesday morning clinics) so I could talk to her, got some inner health plus for kids so jazz isn't too effected by the ABs. Got another appointment tomorrow, hopefully it clears up. Dr and LC mentioned surgical draining and IV antibiotics... Does anyone know, if I have to go in to hospital can I take Jazz? Surely I'd be able to right?

Just a quick one to leash - honey if you end up in the hospital you are welcome to leave Jazz here if you want, I live 700m away from nambour general so its not a problem to pop down for feeds....

well i have a velcro baby today. dunno wat the heck is wrong but he wont let me put him down. as soon as i do he goes into hysteria crying and put his fist in his mouth and just about eats his hand off LOL and this is after he has had a drink omg its driving me mental - I am seriously thinking that it IS his gums giving him pain, is their an age on using Bonjela? There wouldnt be aye, can use that any age? I definitely aint taking him to get weighed today, not in this state LOL

Re: this government thing I saw today on Sunrise that pensioners with only one living will get $1400 and the couples where both are still alive will get $2100...
how is that fair??? (unless I saw it wrong - should be the other way around I reckon)

Squidipa - good luck today honey! I am so hard that all the effort you've put in the past few days will pay off

Vic - great to hear your dad is doing well, always a relief after such a big operation

Leasha - bugger about the abcess. Get started on ya antibiotics asap so it doesnt get any worse!

Anyways must get something to eat - this will be interesting with a baby in my arms but I am bloody starving!

Back later..... maybe, if I'm not you all know why

I think the way it works is SINGLE pensioners get $1400 and COUPLE pensioners get $2100 (ie $1050 each)

Leash - I replied to your other thread hun hope you start to feel better. Don't mean to alarm you, but the drs reckoned my abscess would reduce in size with AB's but it only got bigger And you've had some pretty high fevers, so I'd maybe look at trying to get it drained ASAP before it causes you too much more pain

Leasha ~ I am so sorry that you have to go through what you are going through. Even though I have not experienced what is happening to you, I can only imagine!
I don't live where you are, but I think that if you are Breastfeeding, hospitals have to try to accomodate both you and your baby.

If they don't, tell them they suck and drop Jazzy off at Mels!

All the best for your appointment Love.

    Hi Mums Bubs

Just a few notes this evening!!

Leasha - as you are bf'ing I am sure they would let Jazz in hospital, that is what the WCH said to me when I had Mastitis, that if we riskec it obernight we would bothe end up in hospital.

HUGE HUGS Squidipa!!! What is your next step, a surprise is on it's way to you

Yay for the swing MM, just picked ours up today, glad we didn't wait until tomorrow as we got the 2nd to last one!

Hugs Sasha, hope Kye calms down for you, at least enough to eat!!

I ended up missing my Motilium app yesterday, but rescheduled for tomorrow, but I couldn't wait and on Saturday, upped it to two a day. still not enoough, but havn't needed to top up anywhere near as much

Dad was transferred from ICU to HDC this afternoon and they are now looking that he may be in the Cardiac Ward tomorrow - WOOT!!!!
Just cannot believe how well he is doing!

Nakita just did the biggest powerchuck, DH though it all hit the floor, then saw a massive splash all down his front!!

Thankyou all for your messages, we are hopeful that things keep going the way they are!!

    Evening all
Vic - so sorry to hear about your Dad but good to hear he seems to be on the mend. for a speedy recovery!
Squiddy - you poor thing.... I hope you find a solution soon - we can all see how hard you're trying and how difficult it is for you atm.
sash - I think bonjela is from four months? but hope he sorts himself out.... DD has been dribbling a lot too and I'm it's not teeth!
cm4e - hope things have got a bit better for you and Seven has settled down.
    Mel :P
Leash - hope you don't have to go to hospital! But sometimes it's so good to just get these things sorted out once and for all. You always feel crap when you have some kind of infection like that.
Rach - such a sad story about your friend's DD what a brave little girl and family!
MM not sure if we will qualify for the $1k .... will depend on how they calculate the income I guess.
Anyhoo not much to report round here

Thanks every one and thanks vic and pixie.. I am honestly starting to wonder weathor its something more serious as to why no weight gain there is nothing in our family history of anything but thats doesn't mean your safe does it.

    Question for everyone!!!!
How many minutes a day (24 hours) and how may feeds a day not including burping and settling and sleeping time do you give all your bubs everyone. Yes i know your boobs work different than myn or the lady next door but still trying to see if there is anything and i know babies all drink at diff speeds and develop differently.

Spoke to Mother inlaw today and she said all her kids fed for at least 6 months and they all stacked on the weight no medical history to be given really.

MW said to feed him for 15 mins one side then rest of feed on other boob. Tell ye the truth i think she has no idea whats up and was just trying to make me comfortable coming away with a style of feeding. Truth is i think that would effect my supply is know i can feed josh on one boob for 1 hour and be alright ever gone past an hour tho most feeds are 30mins to 40 mins. Do you think if i go to 15 mins then change boob my supply would drop as i know its good now. She also suggested to rub the boob during feeds to express while feeding and having him attached.
I always check after feeds :rofl the other day i squirted my self in eye ball haha that was after the 1 hour feed wow it was thick.

Vic is there some special way to attach baby with shield??? I know he is feeding k as he is calm not coming off and happy and my boobs fill up every time Just asking as i cant do the whole get the bottom of the breast tissue in and flick the tipple in now as the shield makes it harder.

    Hi Everyone,

My wireless connection was playing up last night, so wouldn't let me reply, and then today there was a whole heap of posts that my computer had not loaded up (new page) so now I feel really far behind.

I was going to tell Leash what I did when I had mastitis to help recovery but it seems it has gone a lot further now with an abscess. Nast nasty, mastitis alone is horrible enough. Just reading in my "breastfeeding naturally" book that an abscess needs to be surgically drained, so don't muck around Leash. Just get yourself and Jazz to hospital. Hey has anyone noticed that if you misspell matitis it can look like mas titties which is exactly what it is! Mass forming in your boobs... Oh dear, this coughing really has finally gotten to me....rattled my brain....made me think even more stupid thoughts than usual....

Squidipa - no trick to the nipple shield. Make sure the gap in the silicone is where Josh's nose will be when feeding. Don't worry about getting flesh into his mouth, he just needs to latch on to the whole of the nipple part (down to the bottom). The way you can tell if he is on correctly is by latching him on and it doesn't hurt you. If you take him off (or partially off) you should see your nipple being drawn into the nipple part of the shield, or failing that, seeing milk on the inside of the shield means he is able to draw milk. HTH!

Kiwigirl, I read part of that blog of your friend and had tears streaming down my face. I can only imagine what they are going through. You really appreciate how precious they are when you have one of your own. My thoughts are with them, and I am glad they got the chance to really celebrate her life with her, before she goes.

Vic - glad to hear your Dad is doing so well. I was wondering what happened to your doc appt... glad you got to reschedule.

Sash - I am sure Kye just wants his Mummy today. Jett often sucks his fists, but I think that it is a self soothing technique rather than teething.

Big hi to everyone else - MM, Arimeh, CM4E, Pixie and anyone else who has excaped my attention right now :P

Had mothers group today, we had gymbaroo come and give us a demonstration. Jett loved it, think I will have to take him to the baby sessions. Exhausted him though, crashed out on the floor straight afterwards and put on his most angelic sleeping face!!

This weekend the pregnancy, babies and childrens expo is on, so looking forward to seeing what's out there that you wouldn't necessarily know about. Going to get some more cloth nappies too. The worlds greatest pram stroll is on too, so might take a picnic for after the walk and then go to the expo afterwards.

    Afternoon everyone!

It is eerily quiet in here today .....

Squidipa - lately, Veygas has only been feeding 4 or 5 times a day (yes in the whole 24 hour period) he had his FOURTH night in a row of looooooong sleep. He usually feeds about 20 mins to half an hour both sides (each time), and about 45 mins at night before bed. When he was waking during the night, he'd feed for about 5 or 10 mins then crash again.

I was gonna take him to be weighed at the clinic today, but DS2 stuffed around so much when I dropped DD off at preschool that there wasn't time to really come home feed Veygas, let him sleep and then go to the clinic at 11am! The other option was to stay down there, but the wait would have been too long before the clinic opened

Leash honey, hope everything is ok with you Did you end up going to the hossie??

    MT - YAY for gymbaroo!!!

Pixie - yeah, I think it's all still a bit vague about how they are working out who gets the $1K ... or it just hasn't been explained very clearly That thread on here about it has turned a bit political .... I mean, if we get it, it will certainly come in handy, what with Christmas, then 3 birthdays and school fees next year ....

Vic - glad your dad is on the road to recovery Don't ya just love the powerchucks??? lol!

DP told me yesterday he is looking at the transport companys up around Stanthorpe ... seems he is seriously considering the move too now!! WOOT!!

MM - nooo.. not stanthorpe *slap slap*.... SUNSHINE COAST..... hehehehehe

Leash - how you doin babe?

Squidipa - I don't BF so can't offer you any advice honey - but I wish you all the best !!! I still think you are doing a great job. Maybe Josh is just a bit slow to start off with, but will gain a huge chunk of weight in the next week or something!!!!!

MT - yay for more cloth nappies!! I have to get some more so DS and DD are prepared for day care in two weeks.... more money

Vic - thats great for your dad.. lets hope he continues to recover so well *mwah*

Can't remember all the other posts - been so slack - I read, then get distracted and forget everything that I just read, but don't have time to read them over again!!! I know.. slack Mel

Ahh well... someone is grizzling - better go see if she wants another nap.. she actually self settled this morning in the cot.. I was amazed..!!!!

    Hey folks
Squiddy - I have checked I seem to feed her 7 times in 24 hours, and 20 mins on one side then 5-10 mins on the other. She would go all day if I let her, but I try to keep it to that cause I have overfed her in the past . If you squirted yourself in the eye after an hour of feeding, it doesn't sound like it's a supply issue. Hopefully it sorts itself out but if you're really worried about his weight gain maybe see a paed. you certainly seem to be doing all the right things and it seems your supply is good so maybe what mel said....
mm great that your DH is on board about moving! funny how sometimes you get these things in your head isn't it!
MT have fun at the baby expo.... haven't heard if it is coming to Sydney. Although this week it is good food week, so we are going to the night noodle markets tonight
I'm so slack... my stepmum is going to clean up my house while I get a spa treatment.... but I don't think its going to happen till next week. In the meantime I don't want to clean up properly cause I know she'll do a much better job than I will! But the house is getting dirty so trying to figure out how to clean just a little bit so I still get full value from the stepmum-clean but don't have to live in a whole world of dust bunnies. I'm a bad girl!
Vic - hugs about your dad .... hope he's getting better real fast honey
Leash - hope you're getting that abscess seen to babe, you'll feel so much better when it's gone.
big hello to everyone else.... have a great day!
Mel - Woohoo! for the self-settling!

***Tried to post before, but I think BB was having issues!! Anyway, lucky I copied it, so I can just paste it now!! LOL!***

MM - nooo.. not stanthorpe *slap slap*.... SUNSHINE COAST..... hehehehehe
it's a stretch getting DP to consider QLD at all, considering he spends half his bl00dy life there!!! Why should he have all the fun??? lol!!

Veygas is quite good at self settling - better than the others were ... maybe it's just in their nature, being winter babies (my other 3 are all summer babes!!)

EDIT - also just got DD a school uniform cause one of her friends is wearing uniform for the orientation days Bl00dy girls!!

Here is a bit of a summary of my families week....

Here is an update on what has been happening.....

Dad had his surgery Tuesday, they ended up repairing the valve in his heart, through key whole surgery - best case scenario!!! Woot!! He was in ICU for 24 hours, double Woot, and is now in HDU, things were going really well, then last night his heart rate kept dropping so that have given him a pacemaker, good news about that is that apparently about 80% of cases get one temporarily, and we a luckier that is was on day two, as it is worse if he needed it on day one. He is having a pretty tough day today, they got him up to walk hima roudn the bed and crashed, so he is feeling pretty worse for ware at the moment, and it looks as though he will be in HDU for a while longer.

With my sister, she is still waiting for an MRI, but they have confirmed that they caught the Stroke jsut before it happened, they have now put her on a new medication but it isn't on the PBS, and it costs wait for it..... $1000 a day - OMG it is ridiculous. The neurologist is filling in all the paperwork so that hopefully she can get it subsidised/funded as it is impossible for her or the family to be able to afford $1000 a day

It really sucks why do the meds have to be so much.. there are some alternatives which aren't as effective. The expensive one would give her approximately another 20 years, the rest we are unsure about.

So we are hoping to get some good news about it all.

Today I saw the specialist GP and she has upped my Motilium to 6 a day!!! From 1 a day!!! Woot, so I will get the results in a couple of days, and on Sunday I need to feed Nakita as much as possible, I have two markets and a Tupperware party to go too... could be interesting!!! But worth everything. She said that I shouldn't have been told to comp and they my Motilium should have be upped at the time... grr but she also needed to put some weight on as well. Her expectation would be approximately 300 grams a month for Nakita - woot!! so I am not going to get stressed at she, she is really happy with her (first time meeting her) thinks she looks wonderful, round and happy, until she started screaming for boob halfway through, lucky I could feed her!!

The brick on the house are going really well, they have done the office, home theatre, laundry, kitchen and part of the billard room - Woot!!!

I have just an hour and a half reprieve from doing things for dad and mum, started the dishwasher as I forgot when I went out, hung out the washing and filled the line, Nakita is in her swing sound asleep and I am going to have to put her in the car in 15 min

Off to the city to pick up mum and then bring little miss home for a feed then we will walk to the shops to get prescriptions, chicken and a few other bits and pieces, the home for the night.

No prem playgroup today as my throat is now not sore, but my nose is stuffy and I have a cough, and strict rules, but at least we have normal playgroup tomorrow.

    Aurghhh what a list!!!

Thankyou again everyone for your wishes it means a lot to us MWAH!!!!

Squidipa - how are you feelign today hun? The GP said that some bubs only put on 100-120grams as an average, I know Josh is a bit less than that but hopefully you find your answers very soon.

Leasha - I hope you are in hossy hun getting that abscess drained.

I squirted Nakita all over her face today with milk, first time and it was hilarious - right infront of the GP!!! Must have jsut squeezed it right

yay for the self settling Mel

Woot for Stanthorpe MM, keep on him

Yay for Gymabaroo MT - sounds like fun what do they do?

Must run, little miss is awakening and I need to get organised!!

I told you Day 4 was poo day in our house!
Firstly, Seven threw up all over my black top while in the shopping centre - then, when we got home, she let it rip. I swear there was a 2 minute interval from when I heard the explosion until I got her on the change table and oh holy lord - what a mess. Once again - thank the lord she doesn't go 28 days!
