Hey Williow
Sounds like DS is doing beautifully with the sippy cup and straw. I haven't ventured there yet, hopefully it will be a smooth transition. I hope you get some better sleep soon..... It is so hard when you are exhausted isn't it? You are not a filure even if you did (which I don't think you will) need sleep school again. Each bub is different as they say...

Forgot to brag....DS is sitting on his own now and is also saying 'dadda' and very occasionally 'bubba'.
Another horrendous night last night so gotta brag about the good stuff :)

Hello girls
Sorry I'm short of time - DS is trying to crawl & keeps screaming for me to help him!! We started solids Tuesday with Rice Cereal. Geez it's causing me nothing but stress :wall: He looks like I'm trying to poison him & reeeeeally seems to hate the stuff!! So I've bought some of the Rafferty's Garden Porridge but now I'm not sure about that either  because it's porridge not rice cereal. Oh how I wish he could just be breastfed forever lol.
Just quickly to Willow asking about routines. DS is up between 7-8am but only for about an hour. He has 3 sleeps during the day, one of which will be 2+ hours. I never know which nap will be the big one - it really depends on what is going on that day. More often than not it's the middle sleep. The other two sleeps are about 45 minutes. Bedtime varies everyday but is somewhere between 6-8pm.

Cheezel - You could try him on pureed or mashed vegies. I haven't done rice cereal with my kids at all (well briefly with the first I think). I think the porridge would be OK if it's from 6 months plus. DS is having mashed sweet potato with a bit of creamed corn mixed in. He loves it! I'm going to try some brocoli and carrot this coming week.
When they get to the stage that they're having 3 meals a day, I use the porridge and baby cereal stuff for breakfast with fruit mixed in but we aren't any where near that stage yet.

Hi all
Posted earlier but my computer died GRRRRR Anyway...
Cheezel - some babies just aren't ready for solids at 6 months, so maybe stop for now and try again in a few weeks or so. Otherwise as Willow suggested just go straight to pureed veg.
Willow - no point telling you our routine as we don't have one! Congrats to D - thats one smart baby you have there!
AFU - M has come down with a cold. I don't know how she got it as DS is the healthiest he's been for months and we haven't been in contact with anyone else. Off to have her vax tomorrow so it will be interesting to see if the Dr will go ahead with it.
Caught my MIL trying to give M a piece of steak today. I told her not to in time. She tried to do the same thing with DS when he first started solids. :wall: Its not that I object to the meat so much but more that she took it upon herself to feed our child a new food without even checking with us. GRRRRR
Good news - M's room is now painted. I am really happy with the colour we chose. Next weekend we'll put up some shelves and put some final decorating touches. Might also move her in this week.
-
Hello girls
We have started DS on the porridge & he seems to really like it, phew!! If he keeps going well I'll introduce veggies next week. Thanks everyone for your suggestions!!
Willow - will probably start with sweet potato next week, that seems to be a popular one. I hate the stuff though!! When do they start having 3 meal a day anyway?
Saffi - M's room must look fantastic now it's painted, when are you thinking of moving her in? :o at the steak without asking you!! So glad you caught her first, hopefully she won't take it upon herself to give M new foods again.
-
Cheezel - I started E on rice cereal and EBM on the weekend and she hates it too LOL screwed up her face and spat it back out like it was some kind of nasty poison! I was thinking I might try some sweet potato too but hmmm maybe I might give the porridge a go first - glad DS likes his :)
Saffi - Yay for getting the room painted! But bugger about the cold :( hope she feels better soon.
Willow - Clever DS!! My only brag is that E is waving a little now - not all the time but now and again, especially when we take DD1 to school, she just lifts her arm and waves it. How'd you go with sleep last night? We've had another couple of shockers, waking every 2 hours.
Tippytoes and Issy - How lovely that you are BF's and had your bubs at the same time! Hope you have a lovely christening :)
Hi everyone else :)
AFU, well solids have been less than a hit LOL but will keep on persisting I guess - it has only been 2 days and we gave her a little bit of watermelon to suck in her mesh thingie yesterday afternoon and she seemed to like that. I think she just doesn't like the rice cereal, so hopefully we might have some luck with something else today. She's asleep ATM so I'm going to try again when she wakes up. We're off to have our needles tomorrow, how much fun will that be - NOT! She has screamed the surgery down for the last 2 lots, so not expecting tomorrow to be any better!
-
Saffi - Grrrr, I hate when people do that! Glad you pulled her up on it. Hope Immy is feeling better soon
Cheezel - I think probably around 8-9 months they're having food three times a day?? but it totally depends on the baby. My DS1 took forever and wasn't having 3 meals a day till probably 12 months (he was a total boobie monster though and was probably having too much milk at one stage so he just didn't have the appetite for solids iykwim?). DD on the other hand loved her food and she was probably about 9 months.
Megs - Well we moved D into his own room last night :( and had mixed success. He woke at 11pm, had a feed and went back to sleep but then woke at 1am and didn't settle till 2.20am :wall: BUT...he then slept for 5 hours!! He hasn't done that for a loooooong time. We are also trying to get him going on solids so hopefully the new combo will help :dunno: He has been waking 2 hourly too so I soooo feel your pain. He has gone down for his morning nap in his room OK - he woke after 45mins but has put himself back to sleep....I hope! In any event, he's very quiet in there.
Well ladies...I have an appt at the gym today to talk to them about membership :o Something I really want to do for myself but not sure if I'll manage it with the boys, school runs and DH training 3 nights a week but I'm going to give it a go!!
-
Hi Girls,
Just a quick one, ill bbl...we have a baby on the move over here. He is scooting around everwhere, only comando crawling, but he is very quick I tell ya!!!! He is also sitting up on his own now, he did it for half and hour last night...thinks he's very clever too.
Also, tried sweet potato and apple (mashed together) the other night and he loves it! I find sweet potato a bit dry and hard to swallow sometimes, but a bit of apple makes it lovely. Apprently apple and carrot are good combos too.
Right, time to clean, chat soon.
Issy.

Hi everyone!
Issy - I love your photo of Lochlann, he's soooo cute! What a clever little man getting around!!
Willow - Good on you for considering joining the gym! I don't know where I'd find the time LOL! That's great that D slept for 5 hours straight last night!! I hope he keeps it up for you :D
Megsmum - Wow @ E clapping, she is so clever! I'm sure she will start getting into solids soon. What rice cereal did you try?
CheezelMonster - I'm glad your DS likes porridge! Oh, and I'm so glad you got lots of use out of that cradle!!
Saffi - I hope poor M feels better soon. Well done on painting her room! And how annoying is your MIL?! Some people have no idea .
Tippytoes - I'm glad Eli is having fun swimming! I've yet to take Alana. The Safe T Sleep is working well, thanks for asking!
Misty - I hope Baz is feeling better the poor thing.
Mrzbaby - Thanks for popping in and CONGRATULATIONS again!! I hope all is going well :D
Hi to everyone else :hello:
AFU - All is going well. Alana is getting over a cold which was making her a bit unsettled. She's still up on her knees rocking, trying to go forward, but only managing to crawl backwards. She gets so frustrated LOL! We haven't started solids yet, but will soon. She's sleeping really well which is great. She seems to have her body clock set at waking up at 5am though, you could set your watch by her! I usually resettle her, but if I can't I feed her and she sleeps until about 7:30 - 8am.
She's such a happy and cheeky little girl and her big brothers absolutely dote on her. I think she'll be very spoilt for years to come :). She loves to grab her eldest brother's hair and then she squeals loudly like it's the best thing ever . DS1 loves it, strange boy!
I hope everyone is well!

Hi Everyone
Wow busy in here. Eli is also on the move crawling away... He is suffering terribly with teething atm. Today our amber teething bead necklace arrived - looks so gorgeous on him. Hopefully it will bring some relief I'll let you know how it goes.

Megsmum - what a clever little poppet - clapping WOW! So cute!
Saffi - amazing what a coat of paint can do hey? As for MIL wow - that is incredible. Glad you put her in her place.
issy - will try with apple - I found it a bit dry too! You always have yummy combos so keep posting.
Willow - good on you for joining the gym - I so need to but am completely unmotivated :shakehead:

grrrrrr....baby sleeping like crap!!!!!!!! Soooooooo tired. Was up around 5 times last night...all between 12 and 6am. Have been too spoilt with this kid and his sleeping habits, havent felt sleep deprivation for about 7 years, and I can safely say IM OVER IT! Bloody teething....
-
Issy - We had a bad night last night too. I had to get up to DS 3 times, worst night we've had since moving him to his room. Hope tonight is better for us both!
Well I had my first gym session yesterday. It went well but I am sooooo unfit. Going again tomorrow night and again on Saturday morning. Hoping to go 3 times a week if I can manage it with the boys. They went to the creche yesterday morning. DS1 loved it but D was due for his morning nap and they didn't get him to sleep till just before I got back to pick them up (they tried to rock him to sleep which is something I've never had to do with him and apparently he thought it was hilarious and just kept laughing at them ) so he only had a catnap, then came home had a feed and some lunch and then slept for 2.5 hours - big mistake. I should have woken him earlier because then he refused his afternoon nap and I suspect that's why we had such a horrid night :wall:
I think I'll only go during the day once a week for now until the D isn't sleeping so much, it's too much of a disruption to the day.
-
Issy - I know how you feel, 4 or 5 times a night is standard here for us! Hang in there, it has to get better right?!
Rach - Happy 6 months to Eli for yesterday!
Willow - Oh no sorry to hear you had a bad night :( But glad to hear the gym went well! LOL at D and the rocking to sleep, that is funny.
Hi everyone else :hello:
AFU, well have already covered it elsewhere, but its been a cr@p week. E has been sick and vomiting, and has also been gagging and vomiting after her solids. I've given up on rice cereal cause I'm sure she hates it and tried avocado and sweet potato both of which she seems to like but as soon as she tries to swallow she gags and vomits it all back up plus milk. And I'm talking about only a tiny tiny amount on a spoon before she chucks too. So I don't really know whether to call it off for a couple of weeks or keep trying.......and also cause she was sick we have had to delay her needles until next week too, so off to try and have them again next Tuesday.
-
Issy & Willow we are the same sleepwise here! Fun of teething. Eli had his 6 month check up and imm today and is now sleeping hope it lasts for a while! So much cleaning to do!
Megsmum - poor little darling! I wonder why she is having so much trouble keeping her solids down? Sorry, I don't the answer but wanted to give yuo a big
