Megs - that was a fear of mine that labour would be so quick I'd give birth in the car! Fortunately didn't happen! Sorry to hear that your DH missed the birth. How come these labours always happen in the middle of the night?
Its so hot up here today! 35degrees and it is still technically winter. DS was a summer baby so luckily I have some 0000 summer weight bodysuits to dress her in as everything of hers is for winter weather.
Cass - Thank you for your kind words! Hope Eloise's wind pain has subsided. I will go read your birth story after this post... I am still trying to finish mine so kudos to you on completing it so quickly!
Misty - love the nickname Baz! Hope your milk has settled in now.

Willow - yay for no stitches, vaccum or forceps... congrats mum - that is a stellar effort! You sound like me... I was an expressing machine to bring the milk in to try and limit the amount of formula Caitlin had to have.... I think once my milk was in she only had one more feed of formula.
Cheezel - it was so hard to leave her at hospital but I knew that each time I went away we were one step closer to coming home. There were many tears each time I had to go.
The nurses were amazed when I kept coming in for her feeds... even the midnight ones... the only ones I couldn't make was 4am... I just do not function at that time in the morning... well not enough to drive!! Hope the visitors have dwindled for you. I agree it is great to show bubs off but the visitor toll can be taxing
Megsmum - have added you to the list. Sorry that DH did not make the birth... but as you say - what can you do.
Sorry not more personals... we have had a very hectic few weeks... Caitlin is now completely discharged from hospital after 15 days... 13 days in Special Care Nursery and 2 days of gate leave at home! We are not back at birth weight yet but she put on 70grams whilst on gate leave which means we could finally be discharged as she had put on weight. Her lowest weight since birth was 2165 (birth weight 2405) and we are currently at 2360. I have made contact with the Early Childhood Nurses (ECHN) and they will be coming out soon for a home visit - will probably ring today to make time. We have a paed's appointment on the 7th September and our 6 week check up with my Obs on the 18th September and also around that time we have an US on Caitlin's right hip as it was clicky when they examined her for discharge.
Now that we are home I will be able to better keep up with everyone's posts!

things are hectic im having trouble getting on!! u may have seen my other thread im having trouble with the breast vs formula thing.. ive been ff for a bit over a week now due to no weight gains and not enough wet and dirty nappies but i feel upset that we arent breastfeeding... ive tried putting him back to the breast along with his formula but ended up with 2cracked nipples and im feeling quite depressed about the whole thing... anyway hope everyones going well hopefully i can catch up on personals soon...
tk - yay for Caitlin coming home noni - I read your BF/FF post and just wanted to give you a hug. Having a few issues myself so I sort of understand what you are going through. In the end you need to do what you feel is right for you and William.
I keep telling myself that its not the end of the world if Immi has to go on formula completely, but I want to give BF as good a chance as possible before I totally give up.
I can't believe I have forgotten so many tips/tricks/techniques from when DS was a newborn. I used to be a tired signs nazi - ie as soon as DS showed them I'd put him down for a sleep. Both DH and I had totally forgotten about them until I was reading BB last night. Saw her do them this morning and wrapped her and rocked her straight away and she was asleep in 5 minutes. So proud of myself. Been asleep for over an hour now and I have been able to get stuff done.
Saffi - Both of my labours have started in the middle of the night! I must admit I was fully expecting it this time too LOL but you are right, I wonder why they do start then. Maybe because you are asleep and all relaxed?
tk - Thanks for putting me on the list Congratulations on Caitlin being discharged from the SCN! Sounds like she is doing so well, both mine have been SCN babies too because I have diabetes but I've been lucky that I have never had to leave them and go home like you have had to - that must be so hard GL with the clicky hip too, we have an u/s in 4 weeks time to have Emma's checked too - DD1 was in a harness for 12 weeks because she had clicky hips, but E was all good when she was examined so fingers crossed for no harness this time.
Noni - I'm sorry to hear the BF is not going well Are you able to see an LC at all? I had cracks and scabs (sorry TMI) on both my nipples in hospy and saw the LC there who gave me heaps of tips on positioning E and now they are all healed and she is feeding well. I hope you can get it sorted
Hi misty, Rhia, CheezelMonster, Willow and Cass, hope you are all well.
Not much happening here today, its DD1's preschool day so E and I are at home by ourselves. As much as I miss DD1 its nice to have a little break from the whirlwind LOL Emma is having a little nap now though, so I think I might join her for a bit! I'm feeling a bit average after 5 overnight feeds last night.
the problem with seeing an lc is the cost.. am having trouble finding one that will help me without a big upfront fee.. i know in the end id be saving money from not buying formula but its the money up front im not sure if i have... have been reading my book breastfeeding naturally that came from the aba and am in contact with them through email councelling.. i have emailed an lc but am waiting to hear back.. i know it wold be quicker to call but im not that confident over the phone...
