Hi guys,
I haven't posted in ages cos my mum is here from NZ. So much to catch up on - sorry about the lack of personals. Thanks to everyone who enquired after Orla's settling: she's sleeping heaps better thru the night (waking regularly for feeds but generally going back to sleep well) but has got into an 'arsenic hour' (or 2-3 hours!) pattern in the evening - still very exhausting but more manageable than at 4am!

I read your post on Silent Reflux Cass - got me a bit concerned cos one of Orla's problems is constant hiccups - she doesn't seem to concerned by them (had them almost every day in utero too!) but sometimes they keep her from going to sleep leading to her getting 'overtired'. For now I'm pretty sure she doesn't have Silent Reflux - just hiccups and does have some gulping issues but they are related to my fast flow and we are managing that (usually!)
Misty sorry to hear about your possible need for surgery - I hope it can be sorted out quickly. As for smiling - although sometimes it may well be wind, a lot of the modern developmental textbooks say that new babies can feel happiness just as much as pain and discomfort so it stands to reason that they are indeed smiling (not just wind!) as much as they are frowning I like to believe they are giving us real smiles .....
