Megan - it was a big post... I should have stayed on top of my replies and not let it get out of control LOL. Thank you for sharing re your contraception. I didn't know that snips weren't effective straight away. GL back at the gym. Wow, that sounds like a great goal - I could never do a run like that!
Salboo - technically you can't fall pg but with the pill etc you need to take it for a period so it takes effect and prevents pg... but I am reluctant to take it as I get lots of side effects... well I did when I used to take it before switching to the Implanon. Glad that the mastitis is under control and the ABs are working.
Oh, I forgot to mention before that DDs weight was 3450 last Thursday... that is more than a kilo gained since birth! We go to clinic again tomorrow and she is having her needles tomorrow afternoon (is everyone being recommended to have the 8 week needles at 6 weeks??)
Heather - no more babies here since I now have one of each. If there was a third "flavour" I might have gone again. Besides I will be in my fifties before my current kids leave high school and most likely be in my 60s before they leave home LOL.
Hi all - thanks tk for opening up the contraception discussion. I have pcos too and have been thinking about the mini pill - biggest nuisance is that it has to be taken at pretty much exactly the same time each day which is a big ask with an unpredictable newborn and my tendency to loose track of time during the day! Despite a few attempts we've not managed to DTD yet - always interrupted DP is about to go round the bend I reckon!
I hadn't heard anyone pushing 8 week vaccinations at 6 weeks - that's soooo irresponsible! I used to work for one of the vaccine companies - unless they've done new studies to show equivalent safety and efficacy at a younger age (which they may have done since I stopped working there 5 years ago so I may be getting hot under the collar for nothing!), vaccinations should not be given any younger than recommen.ded by the manufacturer (giving later as 'catch up' is a different story). I sincerely hope it's not just a convenience thing so they can get is all over and done with at your 6 week appt.
Good on you Megan for hitting the gym again I'm keen to get back into yoga - maybe after my 6 week check up.....it's just across the road and there's a sunday morning class so DP can mind Orla
Yesterday it looked like Orla's pimples were on thier way out but now he's sprouted a new crop on top of the old ones I think I'm so distressed about them cos I had a pizza-face as a teenager and suffered much angst as a result - have to remind myself that she is oblivious to them!
Busy, Busy.
I have a sore throat and don't feel 100% - but not not too bad, just hope I don't get worse.
I have my six week check up on sat morning. I plan on asking the dr about the different contraception choices - It has been so long since I have seriously had to consider contraception - Iam not sure what is available. The mini pill isn't 100% reliable, and Implannon makes me gain weight - Unless they have other better options I might just go with condoms.
Wow - you girls DTD already. after my first two DH had to weight 6mths (not kidding - bad 3rd degree tearing the first time, and I was just plain petrified the second). Iam waiting to see what the dr says at my six week check up before I contemplate DTD, but It will definitely not be after the six month mark this time.
koru - I also have an oversupply problem, which make for a very perky baby (which of course means he gets hungry again quickly, and thus my supply stays increased. He takes three minutes to feed and will only feed from one side. I expressed some to see how much milk he was getting - I got 200mls in five minutes from one breast. Oh well, definitely worse problems I could have. Truth is Baz is a very placid baby, who hardly cries at all.
hope everyone it well. I have weigh in at WW tonight, I will let you all know how I go tomorrow. Hopefully I lost some weight.
Hi all - just popping in to correct my earlier post - the infant vaccines are now ok'ed for use from 6 weeks not 8 - I was wrong! Please accept my apologies (especially to tk) for my 'passionate' response - I'll go back in my box now.........
Hi All, I've been MIA the last week - it has definately been a big one, more on that later.
Saffi - sorry to hear that BF didn't work as you hoped but as the other ladies have said, happy baby and happy mummy are the most important. It was fantastic that you didn't give up easily and at least bubs got the liquid gold at the start!
Koru - hope you are having a better week. I totally understand the motion and it can be soo frustrating when you can't even go to the toilet without them crying. As for Zahli's name, I have no idea where it is from and I had never heard it before but since we announced her arrival a couple of people have said they'd heard of it.
Larne - How did you go with the 2nd opinion? Just remember that there is a lot to be said for mothers intuition. I hope that you get some answers or it is a passing phase that heads on its merry way soon.
Misty - Thanks for letting us know about the 6 wk unsettled period! 200ml WOW that's great supply. Hope you are feeling better.
TK - Hope you got to DTD I'm hoping to attempt it over the weekend.
Megan - good work on the gym, I can't wait to get back into some proper exercise and look forward to the pool opening on the weekend (I think).
Salboo - glad to hear the mastitus is getting better. Technically I don't think you can get pregnant if not menstrating but remember that by the time you menstrate it was 2wks earlier when you were fertile, so perhaps condoms is the best method if don't want to use the mini pill.
Well DD is becoming unsettled so sorry to those I've missed personals on. DD's poos have settled from what they were but still getting quite a few mucousy ones and also some green ones. The pead said she could have an alergy to something I'm eating so will do some research and perhaps try an elimination diet. They also diagnosed her with reflux and had her first dose of medicine last night, I'm hoping it's not coincidence but she slept for 9hrs! I didn't though kept waking worring if she was ok. She cracked the 4kg weighing 4.06kg (it was just after a feed and fully clothed but I'm still claiming it lol).
Hope everyone is doing well and babies have been happy. xx
Koru - no need to apologise, but thank you for doing so and come out from that box please! I had checked with the nurses and done my own research before deciding to get the vaccinations at the now recommended 6 weeks rather than wait until the normal 8 weeks. I haven't filled the prescription for the mini pill yet. After speaking with a new ECHN today I am still looking into some other options and until then will continue to be abstinent . Hope Orla's pimples clear soon
Misty - hope you feel better soon doesn't sound fun at all. I am the same with Implanon but another reason I don't want it is I already have 3 scars from the other Implanons I have (one to insert the first rod... one to remove the first and insert the second and the final scar to remove the second rod) so I don't really want more scars on my arm. We haven't actually DTD... tried but didn't get very far and then DD woke up and yeah an hour later DD was settled and DP was sound asleep . I also have a bit of an oversupply issue... not sure if it is oversupply or just a really good supply but if DD comes off then I either end up with a wet lap or it is squirted across the room! DD is able to drain me so she gets both the fore and after milk but only feeds from one side so by the next feed the side that she will suckle from is VERY full. Hope you went well at WW.
Ellee - no we didn't get to the DTD... maybe over the weekend :fingerscrossed: hope the meds work for her reflux and for weight gain!
AFM - DD was weighed today - she is now 3350grams in the last fortnight she put on 690grams which the nurse was very happy with. DD went well with the needles... bit of a cry and bit of bleeding and mummy didn't even cry (but I did feel like it ) she is currently a bit unsettled but I am putting her on the boob to comfort her and singing to her (my singing is probably doing more harm than good!)
Hey girls, how is everyone?
Things here have settled down a bit here so hopefully have time to do a full post!
Cass- how are you and miss E going...you poor thing, sounds like its been a bit rough lately! Chloe has also been put on Zantac, which seems to be helping. How have you found it?
Misty- bravo on going back to WW...hope the weight loss is going well! I really need to get myself into action, just trying to find the energy!
Meg- congrats on emmas weight gain! As for her vomiting, i can sympathise, chloe has started to do the same, we went through 4 suits the other day!
Tk- congrats also to you on weight gain and not crying during immunisation, we are due soon!
Ellee- we did get a secong opinion and put chloe on zantac which seems to have helped! i have heard that green poo can be related to wind...not sure of the truth in that or if its an old wivestale!
Koru- have the pimples gone?
Saffi- sorry to hear about bf issues! i bottle feed chloe ebm as she had attachment issues since birth, it is dissapointing but you are doing the right thing, you need to do whatever will make you and your baby happy!
Salboo- im so glad your mastitis is better!
Megan- well done for hitting the gym....hope the weightloss is going well!
AFU, Chloe is now on meds for reflux and seems to be doing well. got a checkup on tuesday, so hopefully will get a good weightgain. As for me, i went to the dr and got a script for the mini pill, as for DTD...not yet! had plans for the other night and DH fell asleep! LOL! oh well!
Hope i covered everyone...got to run as Chloe is ready for her dinner!
Take care, will post again soon!
Nothing much happening here. Spent the whole day out shopping which strangely is easier to do with a newborn than it is with a toddler. I was desparate to get some normal clothes. Bought a few things which has made me feel better. Immi was pretty well behaved. When she was upset she settled when I put her in the carrier. Did make it difficult to try clothes on tho!
Haven't started weaning yet. I BF as much and often as I can during the day and give her formula usually about lunchtime, dinner and maybe before I go to bed (if she hasn't settled for the night beforehand). I'll see if I can maintain this routine.
Larne - hopefully now that she is on the medication she will be a lot more settled for you. Cass - its a blessing and a curse that Eloise only wants her mum, isn't it. It must be hard looking after the bigger kids with a newborn at home. I really admire you. You are doing a great job! Misty - sorry to hear you have a prolapse. I reckon young women aren't encouraged enough to do their PF exercises. Its only when you become pregnant and have a baby do you realise how important they are. Anyway, I hope it gets better for you. Meg - great weight gain. Immi is also 4.5kg. We are booked in next week for her vaccinations. I'm also having the whopping cough booster. tk - fantastic weight gain! Ellee - have you been doing the elimination diet?
Saw the OB today for probably the last time. Got the mini pill script too. My tummy muscles still have a slight separation but he seemed happy with how it is healing.
