Hi all,

Simone - I have a very close friend that went through the same sort of thing and she was misdiagnosed for years - thankfully, though she's on the right track - but has fallen off the wagon (so to speak a couple of times only cause she thought she was better and came off her meds) try to remember that and I'm sure you;ll be fine.

Leah, that's so sad Lucy is sick already - hope she picks up quickly.

Kat - hope things are ok with you and Lucas - r u still BF?

Dannik - The whole wake them up for feeds in the night is totally up to you - personnally if they are sleeping let 'em sleep that means you sleep too and that equals a happier home to be able to cope during the day. I got 6 hours straight last night with Kyana now she's on this new formula - I've got a new baby so it's worked.

Absolutely not - so fortunate to have been blessed with two precious sweethearts! Plus it's way way too dangerous for me and I really wanna be here for my babies.

Did u expect to get the sex of the baby u got??
NO WAY - SO TOTALLY THOUGHT I WAS HAVING A BOY BUT DEFINATELY NOT DISSAPPOINTED TO HAVE ANOTHER GIRL!

HELLO GIRLS!

My first post as a new mummy!

Well things with us are going well now, Finn is now a week old today and we have been home 3 nights and i have found that he is awake alot during the day and then sleeps pretty well at night with just two feeds before morning. Last night he had 6 hours between feeds, unfortunately it wasnt quite late enough for me to have 6 hours sleep but it is all good.

Breastfeeding was a huge mision to start with but we are doing ok now with the help of nipple shields for a bit of extra for him to grab hold of and a bit of formula to top him up if he needs it. My midwife came over today to weigh him and he was 3725 gms when he was born, 3590 when we left hospital on day 4 and today he was 3750!!! more than his birth weight, i was stoked! she said i am definitely doing well with supplying him enough food and she was very pleased with the way things were going.

I have had a couple of good cries though since he has been home. Tuesday (the day after i got out of hospital) i just wanted to bawl my eyes out constantly and last night when tim got home i had to have a good cry as i was just exhausted as Finn had been awake most of the day and i just felt a bit suffocated by it all. Tim sent me to bed for an hour before dinner, he has been fantastic, i feel very lucky to have such a great DH. Finn is such a honey of a wee boy but it is sooo hard with how much they need from you. Hope i am not the only one to feel this way. Today is going really well though and thankfully he is having a wee snooze now so i finally got to post and chat with you ladies.

As for leah's questions:

Jeans - havent even gone there yet as i know they wont fit!

contraception - havent thought too much about it yet since it is just a week after but will probably get an IUD put in again after 6 weeks

More kiddies - i am sure we will but i just want to survive this one first :)

Sex of bubs - no we were both sooo sure we were having a girl so a wee boy was a definite surprise but i wouldnt have it any other way now, he is lovely

Well girls might go have a wee lie down while i have the chance.

Yes, I can fit into them!!! was rather shocked at how quick my tummy went away!!

After having Lucas I said no way, but now I think I could probably have another one - but in a few years for sure!

I kind of thought perhaps we were having a girl - so many people had said they thought we were and I started believing them!! so was a little shocked when I looked at Lucas!!

Danni - Emilia is definitely a little doll! she is gorgeous!! as for feeding, the midwives at our hospital said to just wake Lucas during the day for feeds, but to let him go as long as he wanted overnight.....as it is he wakes himself!!

Simone - sorry to hear about your condition, but here's hoping you can get sorted now they know what it is :-)

dd - lovely to see you on here and posting! i've missed you! sorry to hear about your mastitis, i've heard how painful it can be.

Sarah - I had a look at your site and William is so gorgeous!!!

Amy - glad to hear Finn is doing well, and what a great weight gain!! don't worry about the crying - I was the same when we got home from hospital, and still cry alot now! I just feel rather overwhelmed with everything - as you said, they need so much from you.....

Yummymummy - sorry to hear about your PND, big hugs to you :-)

As for me and Lucas, we are doing well! he slept okay last night - although it seems his last feed before I go to bed - around 10pm/11pm - he seems to be awake and will not sleep! if it was during the day i'd give him some "awake" time, but it's too late at night for that!!! the only thing that seems to get him to sleep is if I feed him again - is that bad?? don't want to get him used to only going to sleep while bf......

Hi girls!

sorry i've been mia, have had loads of trouble with my body, had to have a curette done last Fri due to there being a 2-3cm clot in my uterus, and still bleeding so might have to go back on antibiotics. Plus i think i'm suffering from some kind of post traumatic stress from the emergency c/s i had to have so seeing gp tomorrow. Mason is also very windy all of a sudden and wouldn't be put down today so am feeling a bit stressed today and can't stop crying, just wanted to touch base with you and let you know what's going on, i haven't forgotten about you all, will hopefully be able to catch up on everyone's gossip in the next few days if i can get my head a bit more clear.

Amy. dont worry about the crying i too was the same when i was in hospital and home, all the visitors and trying to learn to breast feed as well as having this baby who completely needs you 24/7 was all very overwheming, scary and i felt out of control... lack of sleep can do crazy things to your mind... and its a huge life change, however i have felt very good over the last week, feel like i am getting into some kind of routine with Emilia, she is a great bub too, will take some of your advice and let her sleep tonight (she will probably change her mind and decide to play up! murphy's law)! Have appt with Clinic nurse tomorrow so i am keen to see how i have been going with her...

Dawn sorry to hear you are having such a rough time with recovery i hope you make better progress asap. no probs about not contributing you can only do so much so take care...

Hello girls :hello: Glad to see we are all here now in Baby land!

We had our visit from the health nurse yesterday and he has lost 70 grams from when we left the hospital :confused: Not sure why because he feeds really well and has plenty of wet and dirty nappies. My nipples are fine now since using the nipple sheilds and I've got stacks of milk. Hopefully he will put on some more weight this week.

Not yet but I'm still wearing my maternity jeans and am pleased to announce they are getting looser!

Well we are kind of feeling finished and DH is considering getting the snip...we'll see how we feel in a year or so.

Was hoping for a girl and due to totally different PG symptoms thought it may have been a pink one, but now Caleb is here I couldn't care two hoots about that. Besides I've got two little neices now that I can get a girl fix from whenever I need to get one ;)

Great to see you online Amy and Sammi (and everyone else too including the new girls) Really I'm a July mummy but it just doesn't feel right to change my chat room cause I don't know anyone really in there so I'm with Leah and Simone and I'm gonna stick around in here if that's cool with everyone - Cause I still consider myself an August mummy after all I got outta hospital on the 1st of August so I guess that includes me lol!

Personnal question for everyone - I haven't felt the need to DTD at all and am still bleeding quite abit (probably also due to my medication) and DH has been really understanding but every now and then he tries to prode me (so to speak) and I just don't wanna know about it (this also includes giving him a helping hand - just want nothing!) and that's really not like me I just can't be bothered and feel annoyed at him for asking but he's not even pressuring me every day nor week for that matter - has anyone else felt like this or should I speak to my Dr about it??????

Sorry for the personnal Q but feel abit embarrassed to talk about it out loud if you know what I mean...

Lucas is sleeping soundly so thought i'd see how everyone and their babies are doing!

Dawn - so sorry to hear you've not recovered fully yet, you poor thing....hope you get on well at your gp.

Sammi - i'm sure Caleb will be putting weight back on in no time - Lucas lost weight twice before putting any on.

dd - don't apologise for asking personal questions! we haven't DTD either, think I want to wait until my 6 week checkup - now this may be TMI, but I decided to have a look down there with a mirror yesterday, and OMG!!! it just looks awful!!! all stretched and everything (now i'm blushing for writing that!!) I told DH about it, and said to him that he probably wouldn't want to DTD with me ever!!!!!!!! (he told me not to be silly which made me feel better)
Anyway, i'd just take your time and do it when you feel ready....your DH must understand, after what we've all been through, it's not easy!

dd, do you know what I think it is? I think when a woman has a new baby, she just has so many overwhelming feelings and its a natural instinct to throw yourself completely into your baby. Sometimes the romance pays for that for a little while. And especially for you, who had such a turbulent time when you were pregnant. I wouldnt worry too much about it, but I think it would be a mistake not to nurture your relationship as well. Its easy to fall into a rut and the romance is gone.

Kat, Ive had 7 babies now - DH has never complained about things being different 'down there'. I love your ticker!!

Ladies, give yourselves time to recover... You just pushed human beings out of your nether regions!! Do it when its comfortable... It might be a week, or 10!!

Thanks guys, I know all of what you said including you Simone - it's just hard to remind ourselves and DH is very understanding - I know it's just me - like just automatically expecting your body to go back to normal like over night when it's taken really nearly 10months to get into the condition it's in and the trauma of having a baby let alone having complications - I just needed to be reminded that I'm not alone.

Kat - as for checking out the state of affairs down there - I've been way too scared I don't think I look after Shynelle cause I could feel how different it was so there was no way I wanted to see it - but it did go back to well almost normal but it took ages - so I hope that helps you besides where your scares proudly I reckon' that's one hell of a job pushing out a little person. BTW, I just love the pic of Lucas on your ticker - just beautiful.

Thanks for the comments about the pic of Lucas in my ticker - I love it too, and got in printed in black and white yesterday and it's now in a frame :-)

I've decided to start weaning Lucas off the breast, and start formula feeding....to be perfectly honest i'm just exhausted bf, and would love for DH to be able to feed him now and again! is that totally selfish of me??? I was never really keen on bf before having Lucas, so feel good that i've done it for 4 weeks. We gave him his first bottle before and he took it really well. For those that have weaned, how long did it take you to be fully formula feeding?

Had a visit to MIL for lunch today and while we were out I got a slow cooker. Hanging out to try it for dinner tomorrow!

Hi Kat, My milk has dried up at 3 months with every one of my kids. They took to the bottle almost straight away and went from fully breastfed to fully formula fed overnight due to poor weight gain, etc with absolutely no problems. You will notice poo's will change and watch out for constipation. I'm going to try and break my 3 month barrier this time. We'll see. I love breastfeeding, but at the moment ny nipples are so bad. This morning I actually had a piece hanging off (sorry tmi).

rah I came online to get some peace and quiet while my auntylooks after bubs for a moment (im at mums after lucys dedication today!) and everyone keeps bothering me and danny wants to go home but I hat eour computer as we still have bial up (hurry up telstra man!) Leah, don't feel bad for feeling like you need a minute to yourself it's a very normal feeling especially with your first but trust me something happens and you kinda just get over it - I can't even pee without company anymore - for some stupid reason Shynelle likes to check out my undies or try to watch me pee and no matter how hard I try to stop her she still manages to get a peek - she thinks mummy wears a nappy now too like Kyana and she's the big girl and tells me she doesn't like my nappy and I should take it off - I tell her I don't like it either and if she lets me pee in peace she doesn't have to look at it! (sorry tmi - but it's true sometimes even DH thinks it's ok to just come in and have a chat with me - what's with that! AAAAARRRRGGGGGHHHHHH - NO PRIVACY!!)

Hey dd, Xander and declan both like to follow me to the toilet... And dh will come open the door to have a chat. LET ME HAVE 5MINS ALONE!! hehe, the joys of being a mummy :)
We all went for a drive to Lorne yesterday... (on the Great Ocean Road). Our car went really well, we left at 11am, and got back after 7, and we used 3/4 of a tank!! (We did about 4-500kms). It was a gorgeous drive, stopped off at Bells beach (they're all crazy, it was pouring with rain, and ABSOLUTELY FREEZING!!! And there was still loads of surfers down there!! Diehards...)

That sounds like you had a really nice day Simone - I haven't been down to Lorne for years I think you've inspired me I'm gonna mention that to DH I think a drive down the coast with the kids sounds nice.

How's Anneliese going? BTW - love your ticker her cheeks are soooo cute just wanna sqeeze 'em!Oh and Simone - Piece of personnal trivia for you too - I went to Gladstone Park High and grew up in Gladstone Park - very small world!

How's everyone's day going?

Mines abit quite with Shynelle at creche today and Kyana is doing everything right atm and feeding well and then snoozing - so now I'm looking for something to do - never happy!

Has anyone else's baby started having awake time after feeds? Kyana has perhaps once or twice a day but only for about 1/2 an hour at a time and then she screams out cause she's exhausted herself. I am also finding that sometimes she won't sleep unless I put her on her tummy (which I know they don't like you to do but the nurses told me that I could as long as I watched her and I don't do it at night or if I'm going to nap) anyone else having similar dilema?

dd - Lucas really only has one period of being awake per day, but when he does its normally for over an hour!! although, because he's been so unsettled the last few days he's been awake for hours on end - I know he is completely shattered, but just won't sleep....

Leah - I know what you mean about getting time to yourself, it can get frustrating!!

Did all the daddies have a nice Father's day? I got DH a little pressie and card from Lucas, it was very sweet!!!

dd ~ no awake time for Zain. Its only been 6 days though, lol. I cant stop playing with him though. I dont think he likes me because I disturb him too much ;) I always let my babies have tummy time right from when they're born. Like you said I just make sure I'm watching.

Leah~ I just had a shower with 6 kids in the bathroom so I could be sure no one would touch the baby. Privacy - whats that?????

I just have to tell you all that MY NIPPLES ARE KILLING ME!!! Nippleshields dont work, Ive used Lansinoh, aired them out and I'm still doing the foot stomp when I put him on. Its horrible! Apart from that though I am loving being mummy to a tiny one again. Its my favourite age and I really cant get enough of him. I think in 4 or 5 years I might have to go again. My mum had a heartattack when I told her that, ROFL!!!!

Oooh I just wanted to ask, Kat how long did it take for your swelling to go down after Lucas was born. My feet are just as swollen as before the birth and its driving me mad. Its been 6 days now and they are really bad. DH thinks they look like a blown up glove - he's such a dear, lol...

HEy nat... Generally i have a shower WITH the boys, and Anneliese in her bouncer in the bathroom... She wont rest unless im within a few metres of her!! And the boys wont let me shower or bath without them... Ive just started showering/bathing late at night when they're asleep...

Anneliese will be 3 months old on the 9th... i try giving her tummy time, and laying with her and playing, but she hates it. She's in line with the august babies, she can barely support her own head... And she's still in 0000's!!

DD-i just moved here, DH is the melburnian... he went to school in essendon, and went to yr 11+12 at Essendon Keilor VCE College on Buckley St. We live just off melrose drive. Im trying to get a new pic of Anneliese up, as that was taken while she was in hospital and she looks much cuter without the nasal prongs :)

Oh Simone, I thought I had no privacy, lol. You poor thing. I'd love to see another pic of her. You should get a web page.

Nat - it probably took about 2 weeks for my swelling to completely go - and when it did, wow, what a relief!! i'd forgotten what my feet, ankles and calves looked like!!!!!!! so hopefully it won't be too long for you now......

AAAAHHHHHHHHH all that stress on the weekend has caused me to get a coldsore!!!!! i cant kiss my baby and its driving me nuts!!!!!!

DD~ SNAP! lucy is so the same as ur kyana! sometimes she will stay awake for like an hour inbetween her morning feeds i just let her google and ga ga by herself im NOT a morning person and will NEVA be!!!!lucy also loves sleepin on her tummy and i let her do it alot cause sometimes she will only settle like this...she has a pretty strong neck but i never do it if im asleep only under supervision! funny bout shynell and ur nappy!!!
o just a question....how many feeds r u doin a day? lucy has stopped her early early god forsaken hour feed (thank God!) but is only doin 5 feeds a day is that too little? im gonna get her weighed tomoro just incase but she is so spot on with her feeds EVERY 4 hours not a minute to spare its weird!!! 7am, 11am, 3pm, 7pm and then 11pm its so cool but weird i was demand feeding her she got into the routine herself!

Natalie~ i cant beleive u said u would go again!!!!!!!!ur crazy in the coconut!!!and 6 kids in the shower??? OMI im never goin to get privacy again am i?

hello to everyone else...

well i went for a long hour walk yesturday round lake burley griffin... its so nice this time of year cause all the cherry blossoms come out..so pretty!!! floriade is on in 2weeks and our wedding anniversary too!!!! YAY

Lucy has started smiling heaps!!! she was awake in my arms this morning waiting for daddy to bring her bottle and as soon as he came over to say hello she had a smile from ear to ear cause she recognised her dada!!! its so cool!!!!

oh has any one invested in a hug a bubs??? if u havent u should theyr awesome!!!!

well gota go clean my pig sty of a house and go for a walk then goto the shops to get some more scrap booking stuff!!!!

Leah - it sounds like you and Lucy are doing really well!! I wouldn't say giving her 5 feeds a day is too little, if she is happy on that and isn't looking for more i'd keep with it! what does she weigh now? you are just so lucky that she sleeps through the night like she does - Lucas slept for 4 hours this morning and I thought that was amazing!!!!

So what does everyone do with their baby when it's awake? I try to give Lucas some "tummy" time, and read to him, but he just seems to get bored!! he's not really interested in toys, and I feel bad for leaving him in his rocker to amuse himself!!

Sorry a TMI girls, but how often does your baby do no. 2's?

Hi Girls!!!

Finally have time to write! Kat I have found it difficult doing anything with Emilia just yet, i think she is too young to get too interested, i sing little songs and have a small play cuddles etc during the feed time, then i change her and she goes to sleep... havent really been doing too much stuff with her yet. she sometimes just hangs out in her bassinett awake for a little while then starts screaming cause she wants to be held!

Nat, Emilia seems to have poo in every nappy... sometimes its a big one and some times it just a little bit... also one day it was really mustard yellow then went back to being greeny yellow? god knows what i ate that made that happen!!!

Shinee I think 5 feeds should be fine, she will tell you if she is hungry... Emilia has 6 a day at the moment, if she cuts out the early morning (4am) feed i too will be down to 5! i hope the milk doesnt stop???

Has anyone tried expressing yet? I did and got bugger all out.. was very unimpressed. I am going to get my hair straightened this weekend so DH is going to have to do a feed, i am thinking of giving her formula for that one what do you think? i was told by someone that you shouldnt start expressing till about 6 weeks? is this right?

Danni-i had to express every feed as anneliese couldn't breatfeed, but i've never heard that... its good to have an emergency stash in the freezer!! Anneliese has one formula bottle every night, and there's a couple of reasons for that 1-DH gets to feed, its a bonding time for them 2-she gets used to having someone else feed her, JIC... and 3-she sleeps for just a lil longer with the formula in her tummy, gives me about an hour more sleep...

Well thats a relief, because I think Zains going to be the same. He's only done 3 since he was born 8 days ago. I was getting a bit worried because my others weren't like that.

Im leaving tomoro morning at 6am, on my holiday... should be coming back to perth start of oct. JUST finalised it, now im trying to get all my washing done (hard, considering we're having another beautiful Melbourne day...) So my dryers going nonstop, while im trying to clean and pack...

Dannik~ glad to c u babe... its so good to hear ur going for a pamper on saturday! i got my hair cut and colored on monday and i never felt better keep up the pampering!!!

Kat~ lucy stays awake a fair bit now, like she had a fed at 11am this morning and its now 12:30 and she has only just got to sleep, i sing her HEAPS of songs (me and danny are musos so we HAVE to!!!!) we sing row row row ur boat and the frog song and rainbow songs HEAPS of ones with clapping and boppin..she goes wild kicks her feet and smiles she has started snorting so i think she is trying to get a laugh out! she LOVES the frog song! when i sing the part with "weeeellll we all know frogs go, la dee da dee da" she moves her head from side to side cause i do it!!! its so cute i dont know if its cause she cant control it or not but i recon she is doing it she is so alert its weird!!! after we sing I put her on her tummy on a mat a friend made cause its realy brite then I get out the other play mat with toys hanging off it and she will sit under that for 5mins then start screaming cause she has had enough and wants mummy hugs... she doesnt like to b put down ive noticed... I think last time I got her checked she weighed 3.275kgs...so shes not that big, she has only grown 2cms since birth so everyone keeps asking me if she is only a week old! she is very pettite like me I spose!

does anyone co-sleep? we r co-sleeping and I really love having her in our bed cause I can cuddle her, she sleeps in her bassinette in the day but not at night... I hope its ok. Im not goign to squash her, Im not a very heavy sleeper anymore...

DD~ i think a page back or 2 u asked a sex question...I dont know what u should do but me and DH havent had sex since i was 8wks pregnant! so im kinda edgy and really scared to do it but I really want it... im seeing my doctor tomor for my 6wk check so I will ask her if its ok to start... bit nervos about it hurting or mayb not being able to feel it....has ur bleeding stopped? mine was SO light it scared me I thought I would of bleed heaps cause of the clexane! how long r u on the injection for or have u changed to warferen? im seeing the haematologist in october and have been told im probly gonna be on them for more than 6months from after birth! u should see my legs they r covered on bruises and they really hurt! I HATE them SOOOoOOOoOoOoOoOooo much!!!!! I wish I didnt have to have them cause i wanna get a pericing but i cant until im off the drugs cause of the bleeding!!!

I co sleep with William alot and love it too. I have a product made by Safe And Sound, it is two rolls of padding that they sleep between so they cant move anywhere. I feel alot safer co sleeping with it.

oh cool il check it out thanks sarah! my bubba is drnking 125mls i make it up with a little extra water to help with poos. at 3wks tho she was only taking about 80mls my theory is if lucy eats the whole bottle she will go to the next feed but some feeds durin the day she leaves about 40mls out of the 125.. dont stress if he doesnt eat it all i think they have to build up to finish the whole bottle IYKWIM?
