:hugs: sonia, i feel the same. it was either formula or starve 4 em tho. test will b later today but since starting standard formula for the test she has farted heaps n had really runny poo. Dr is convinced it will b positive 4 Lactose intolerance but needs the test done b4 giving script.

Becca - Isn't it great when they find they're feet?! When Jensen did that, he almost rolled from back to front, but
the table he was under stopped him! I also bought a re-usable swim nappy, but from Kmart, it was about $10. Bought a
floatie from there too, it has a hood to keep the sun off him.Jens hangs onto my shirt, but it seems he wants to show these bb's off to the world... lol takes after his dad.
Rhi - The tummy time gets easier. Jensen used to scream, but decided that I really needed to persist.

Sonia - At the Chandler Sporting Complex up the road from me has a banner up, saying that babies can swim from
3mths. I'm thinking of getting Jensen swimming lessons but Dh's parents have a pool so I'm going to give that a go
first. Wow about going back to work. OMG about the car. With the feeding - you gotta do what you gotta do.... This
might sound odd, but is there anyone around you that has an over production of milk? See if they can give you some
of their ebm. I've often thought that it would be good that we could all meet up, but with kids and different states, it would be hard! It spins my mind that I've even met Kim! Just gotta get some time to go out there and visit, and the courage, coz believe it or not, I'm actually quite nervous around ppl... It might not seem that way here, but it's probably because there's such a lag between posts that it's talking but not a conversation iykwim.
Well, I went into work today to let them know that I wanted to come back about 3 days per week in February when Jensen would be 6mths old. The money I saved to stay off work is going to run out around then, if not January. When I got there, the whole office has gone to the dogs. The supervisor (who quit in sept) is back. The girl at the window and my replacement had a huge argument to the point where no work was getting done. I think I know the reason, but I have to find out without asking. My replacement went off at the boss and quit. The boss begged her back, so she's back. The other girl quit. They got a replacement for her, who turned out to be a stoner who'd go home and come back and hardly keeps his eyes open let alone work. The supervisor went off at him today, he'd already been fired it was his last day, so he just walked out. Also, the boss left and went back to melbourne. So now they're understaffed with a system that doesn't work properly. So I suggested I'd come back one day a week. They're giving me a call on Monday, to see what we can work out. I'm a little nervous about going back, but then, I was nervous about putting Jensen in his own room for the first time.
Well, I better go. It's taken forever to write this (trying to watch a movie at the same time!). Dh has gone off on a mission to help a friend (and not a nice one either - too big a back-story to fill you in) He's been gone for hours and I'm starting to worry. Oh wait - that was him, he's on his way home. We're getting up early to go garage-saling.

kim - my AF isnt here yet n i dont know when to expect it. this makes me worried everytime we dtd coz i'm SO not ready for #2. hence, i try to avoid dtd all together. then again, its not fair to dh. *sigh* i really do have to start ready my BM book again. last time i tried to follow it, we got ella! lol hope it works this time though.
rhi - i know what u mean abt those financial woes. altho' our head is above water at the moment, this housing rates biz is not good. so hard to find a place we can actually afford comfortably. fingers crossed we will find a place of our own soon as we are currently renting. we've got a couple of issues to settle n i really hope that we can remain n buy over our current unit. that would save me a lot of mucking around n packing up. i hate that...anyways, i got this musical parrot for ella for xmas. talking abt cutting her nails!! i'm SO scared of snipping of her finger as u mentioned n i wished i didnt have to trim it BUT i have coz they grow so fast. faster still if you've been cutting them....did u notice? wow @ ur work place. i hope u really can work something out.
ali - congrats on the car...been thinking of getting a drastic haircut as my hair is long at the moment but since u mentioned that short hair is easier to pull, i might give it a miss now! :P
becca - haha!! well, ella's been accidently pulling my necklace but i think it's only coz she isn't aware that it's there to pull? once she knows...oh my...nice to know that u're getting things all sorted out. :)

sonia - well, hope we too can meet up some day eh? :) dont think so much abt the feeding. i know what u mean abt feeling guilty. i nvr knew i was formula fed until recently coz i was in n out of hosp -that's what mum told me so i'm trying my best to bf as much as possible but i do notice that ella fights with my boobies sometimes. it nvr occurred to me that maybe it's slowly getting less. have to pay more attention to that. as for finances, i SO getcha....but somehow i believe that no matter what, things will work its way out some how coz God doesnt hand us obstacles we cant overcome. sorry to get all religious here but that's what i really believe. :) so hang in there ya'll!
ever since ella found her fingers, her dummy is no longer her bestfriend. she hardly ever wants it when she goes to bed n most of the time, i find her with her thumb plugged in her mouth. thing is i dont want to encourage thumb sucking but at the same time i know that it's the best self-soothe way. so i'm in kind of a dilemma. dh said the only thing to do is put something foul on her fingers so she wont chew on the but i think it's just a baby thing discovering their fingers, toes n whatever they can lay their hands on. but what is your take on thumb sucking...? other than that, still no rolling over from ella just yet but she is finding her little gym mat more interesting. now if only she would take her hand out of her mouth so she can TRY to grab something up there!!
u know, i feel so envious how come of u can bf in public. up till today, i still havent done so. i normally bring ebm with us when we are out n about. i feel shy and too wary n conscious abt the ppl around that i dont think my boobies would work!! i'm trying to convince myself that it's not wrong if i cant bf in public, u know? how many of u are bf in public?

Kim, not sure if work nows this yet, but most things in my life take a back seat to BB. the housework and probably the jumper making will take a back seat. probably end up being a coulda shoulda woulda moment.
Rhiannon, I am quite shy myself, and you wouldn't know it from ono here, and you probably wouldn't know it from meeting me either, but meeting people is very difficult for me. Good luck with going back to work. Sounds to me that your work will be very happy to see you back. Just remember not to let your self get stressed out trying to help them fix everything up. Don't take on more than your ready to do. But you might enjoy going back one day a week. I'm back at work in january full time and I just keep telling myelf that I will appreciate my time with Xavier more because evey moment will be so precious.
misty I was told that babies sometimes prefer their hands because the taste better than dummies. probably taste a little salty. I get paranoid about things like sunscreen going in the mouth, but really the small amount doesn't hurt them.
I feed in public all the time. But if i'm not comfortable neither is Xavier and it all goes bad. Plus in shopping centres it's not working very well anymore because he wants to look at everyone. I am also finding it's getting more difficult to feed him as he is getting bigger as it's getting very awkward to find a comfy position.
I'm also nervous about dtd because I haven't got AF back, but for a different reason. In the past I've ended up getting af earlier because of sex and I don't want to tempt fate and get it back early. I've also got that feeling atm that i'm going to get it back very soon. it's driving me nuts.
Seriously though not having af keeps me BF longer when times get tough. It's my motivation
Yes we do have HCC. hopefully will find out what is happening on Thursday. If u r concerned about AF the y not wear a panty liner? that would save u sum embarrasment. a bb is a bb and if ppl don't like it they can grow up and join the 21st century!

well, news from Milla is that she did her first real belly-laugh yesterday.... it was beautiful!!! She had done a mega-poo, which went everywhere since we were experimenting with el-cheapo nappies... so DH and I decided to dunk her in the bathroom basin and give her a mini-bath to clean her up. While DH was splashing the water to test the temp, she just cracked up laughing! We both looked at each other thinking OMG is that coming out of her!!?? She hasn't laughed since, despite all my best efforts to look stupid or splash water... I'm glad DH was there to hear it too.
And as for sleeping, well, for three nights in a row she slept from 7pm til 3:30, had a quick feed, then went back to sleep til 7 or so! Bliss. But last night we went out for dinner with my walking-mum's group, and so she was out of her routine, and woke at 11, 1 and 3:30... :( i am hoping that tonight she gets back to the big sleep. On the up-side, she slept in her pram the entire time we were eating, and it was sooooo nice to get out and have a meal. The daddys also enjoyed meeting each other, I think they miss out since they don't get to do mum's groups. My DH loved seeing the other babies we were out with.
Misty - I BF in public all the time. I am pretty discreet, and I have a few BF tops that I got online, but I really don't have a problem with it. I thought that I would, before I had her, but now that I am confident going out with her, I just feed her whenever she needs it. I find the most annoying thing is that there are very few places where you can sit comfortably, and I always end up in a cafe, just so I can sit down somewhere other than in the car or a manky changing room!
As for thumb sucking, well, Milla is sucking her entire fist most of the time! I don't think its such a bad thing in a baby cause I know how much they love sucking! I used to think that dummies looked awful, and swore I would never use one. But having let Milla use my bb's as a dummy for the first 5 or 6 weeks, I was so grateful when I got her a dummy, and she loves it. We only use it during arsenic hour, and when she is going to sleep - it really works for us. Now I dont mind if she wants to suck her thumb instead, cause at least then I don't have to keep finding it for her like I do when she spits her dummy out, or knocks it out with her fist! But I guess its always a worry that you will have a 5 yr old thumb sucker? For now I think just let them do what they need to to stay happy.
Only 3 more days til the PILs arrive from Belgium.... we have some serious cleaning to do!!!!

I don't have any problem with bf in public. I used to. But if I'm comfortable and he's comfortable, there's no problem. Look at all these young ppl (no offence) my age or younger (pff lol sometimes older hehe) that wear the skimpy tops and clothes. They show off their breasts, barely covered by a top. I'm sorta doing the same thing, only instead of a top, its covered by a hungry baby mouth!! I totally agree with Ali.. It's a breast. Every woman (and some men!) have them. Deal with it! lol. I have noticed ppl watch anyway! lol It's interesting.
Anyway just popped in re/ the bf in public. Also (and please no-one take this the wrong way!), I get confused when I read some of these posts, coz when replying to me, some put Rhi or Rhiannon. As there are two of us ( Rhi and sconeonamission) can we make me either scone or Ren? I dont want to confuse Rhi ! Do you all have something you prefer to be called? I know from a previous post that Ali is Ali, not Alison as it reminds her of being in trouble (?).
hey Scone! I was thinking exactly the same thing, about our names being confusing. Just before I read your post I actually put in a request to change my username, so I'll see how I go with that... when I first signed up to BB I didn't think much about a username, and I just put my nickname (i'm usually called Rhi)... Maybe that will help a bit with the confusion too.

also wants her to start solids @ 4 months to aid with weight gain. so we r getting answers. now we just need someone to but the car!
Ali - Oh!! Thats fantastic news! Have you bought the formula yet? Was it any cheaper? How do you feel about starting solids so early? What do you mean that you have to get someone to buy the car?

I didn't mean to leave the rest of you out, but it was a quick pop in. We dressed Jensen today in some warm clothes - who knows what this QLD weather will be like in the next 10 mins.. and the warm shirt he had on was a 0000 and his pants a 000. Ppl say he's small for his age. Maybe I'll have a chat with a health nurse.
Well, I have my car back. It still overheats, but no-where near as badly. I called my boss today and my first day is Thursday. 730 til when I want to finish. They're still trying to work out an hourly rate.... hopefully, it's worthwhile me going back. I'm so nervous, scared and excited about going back to work and leaving my baby.... :( Andrew had the day off today, as for the last week he's had a killer toothache. The dentist sent him for xrays, and he's gotta have the remaining 3 wisdom teeth removed. Ouch. Thats going to cost a fortune. The first place we called (we're going private, despite the fact we don't have any cover - I doubt the public system is moving faster the private), their first appt is not til January. There's no way I can deal with his pain attitude til then. We called the dentist back, they called around and found us somewhere. The consult is the 18th Dec, the surgery, 20th. Wow what a fun christmas. I bought a sewing machine from a garage sale on Saturday - $12 !! So we're making nappies. I also have a book with some baby patterns in it, I can't wait to make them!

Sorry i have'nt been in lately. Life is so hectic at the moment.
Brent went hunting on the weekend and one of the rims to his wheels shattered and came flying off while they were doing 100k's down the highway. They were'nt hurt and neither was the car really other than the rim and the brake disk. But we called Beaurepairs and they wont replace the rim and pay for the damage even though we only brought them in May this year. And they 1 rim cost $300!!! I used to work for Fair Trading so i am going to call a mate there today too see what our right are. I am pretty damn sure we are entitled to have it all repaired and replaced. When you pay that much money for something you'd expect it to last longer than it has. Esp with wheels.
So i was dealing with that yesterday and i had a few interview with job agencies. I have come to the conclusion that i HAVE to go back to work before we starve and our power gets cut off. Money is so tight at the moment is bloody terrible. I nearly had a job starting today with Toll Priority but cause the contract was until the end of Jan and we have a holiday in Jan they were'nt willing to give me that week off. So now i am back to waiting.
We have got the girls sorted out. They will got into care on Mondays and Tuesdays and then they will go between Brent's mum, My mum and Brents' Aunty on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. Obvioulsy this was something i totally did'nt want to do but i have to.
Anyways, i have a meeting with my co-doula's (LOL) at 10am today. This meeting will determine wether they want me apart of the Townsville Birth Buddies team. Unless i am delegated a client straight away i will have to put it all on hold until after New Years. NOT HAPPY JAN!!! Oh well...i can still study during this time though.
The girls are good. Briley's eye is still a bit gunky but the Dr said it would take up to 3 months before we would know wether the op was successful or not. But they said they are pretty sure they fixed the problem.
Better go....time is getting away from me....again!!

Sara- GTH from you. Damn about the wheels and I do hope u get some recourse from beaurepairs because wheels are meant to last longer and be safer than that. I hear u abt having to go back to work. This is my second week back. Keep us posted on the job search and I'm glad you have the girl's care all sorted as that's 90% of every working mum's headache I know.
Becca- GTH you got childcare all sorted too. Don't sweat the feeding issue so much as Xavier will be in a much better position age-wise to make the transition. He'd has the ideal start. I imagine he'll be on solids ard that time too.
Scone - the only other breastfeeding mum in the family is quite some distance away from us and even though she has an abundant supply (her little girl is off the charts, growth-wise and is exclusively bbfed for 5 months now) I don't think I'm comfy with the donated bm idea. I know its been done for centuries ala wet nursing but its just the idea of it squicks me a little lol. I wish I was crafty like u in being able to sew and make your own nappies. That wld be a labour of love for sure.
Misty - I too am shy bfeeing in public. I think maybe for us its the added cultural thing because where we grew up, its certainly not the norm at all. I've done it though and haven't been comfortable at all. I don't like putting any cloths, scarf or muslin over Willa either when I feed in publiv as she's already such a hot baby, so I just don't bother. But ALi is right in that they are just boobies and they were put there to feed our babies before they were used for any other purpose heh.
Campari - Name change noted! Good on you now we won't get mixed up any more. Countdown to the ILs arriving huh? I'm on a cleaning spree as well as I'm expecting a visit from old high school friends and their husbands soon.
Ali - way to go on getting that script. U must be relieved to be getting to the bottom of em's feeding issues. Keep us posted on how the whole solids business goes.
Well my second week of working this week and we seem to be in the middle of some changes, Willa-wise :) It's like I went to sleep saying goodnight to my predictable, calm little baby and woke up in the morning to a big baby who wants to be helped to sit up all the time, who pulls my hair, bounces violently like she's trying to take off on her bouncer, rolls and squirms everywhere, shouts and squeals, bangs her feet, chomps on everything and the most alarming of all - wants to stay up all the time. And oh my, she's drinking past 150 mls of formula at each sitting and that's AFTER taking whatever is in my bbs! God help the poor soul who runs out of formula before she's satisfied. She screams the house down until you make her some more. But man, its so nice playing with her now. She's so interactive.
So is anyone else going through similar changes? Where did my placid, stationary little baby go? lol

Ali, I'm not concerned about getting af in public or anything like that. I am just really enjoying not having my period as I have excruciating pain every single month. I can't imagine having to deal with the pain and having a needy baby but i'm sure I'll cope. That's fantastic news on the script, I hope everything starts on track for you. I bet Em will love eating food and will turn into a little budda in no time.
Rhi, I too have trouble finding somewhere to feed in public that is comfortable. The worst problem is that xavier is so pre-occupied with lights and now xmas decorations he gets so very easily distracted. Yesterday i gave in and went to find the bubs room, only a little manky, not too bad, and to my horror there were bright coloured animals painted all over the walls and he still didn't feed. How long will your PIL be over, just for christmas? They would be excited to see milla.
Scone, there are lots of men with man boobs, and they don't attempt to cover them up at all. pmsl about the GTH = go to hell
Kim, I would probably snap at my mum. You are the mum this time round, tell her she had her go and now it's your turn and you will do what you have to do. After all your baby is not a carbon copy of you so he will be different. Plus nans and grans forget the rules have changed since they were mums.
Sara, good to here your still going. Sorry you have to start working again. But we gotta do what we gotta do. Hang in there I'm sure everything will work out.
Sonia, I'm sure it will all work out too with feeding, but I'm pretty sure once your a mum it's your given right to worry for the rest of your life :lol: I'm going to offer him solids in a couple of weeks, more than anything for me so that when family start trying to tell me he's hungry at Christmas I can tell them we have it sorted, or if he indicates he's not ready yet I can honestly shut them up. But I'm sure if there is any difficulty it will only be for a couple of months because he will well and truly be enjoying solids in feb and march and I shouldn't have to send as much milk along with him.
We haven't had any really crazy happenings like what you described, but while walking around kmart yesterday he was blowing raspberry's kinda loudly. It was a little funny.
Now today I bit the bullet and am cleaning out Xaviers draws again. it is time to ditch the 000's as they are getting too small, and he is wearing more and more 00's. It's crazy every time I find he can wear a new outfit it's very exciting, but then today I got all sad when I was tossing all the little 000's in a basket ready for packing away till the next bub. My little baby is getting bigger. well he's been asleep for an hour and if I don't get some lunch soon he'll wake up and my chance will be gone.
Sara, A rim should not shatter. They have stringent safety tests for that sort of thing so that must have been the bad 1 in the bunch. I too would b making some noise.
Bec, Lets hope that xavier has settled ur cramping down. my period pain was way less after having babies.
Sonia, Em is getting more talkative but hasn't rolled yet. I am glad that she is putting her energy into growing instead of moving. she does like to b on her side now tho n sometimes i can't roll her onto her back.

I am enjoying my last day of solitude before the in-laws invade! They are here for 8 weeks. I am worried that I wont be able to fulfil my BB addiction once they are here... I'll have to start cooking and cleaning and make it look like I am a good housewife!! !HA Not likely!!!! I am really looking forward to them being here... its a bit of a sad story, but Milla has really missed out on the grandparent thing, and we dont have many rellies here, so I want to enjoy having the PILs here. I don't get on with my dad, and my mum died of breast cancer when I was 4 months pg... pretty sad timing, but she had been really sick for a long time (5 yrs+), and I had been caring for her a lot... she got to see my first ultrasound, and she was really excited about that. She would have loved to have seen Milla, but in the end it turned out OK (as much as having your mum die can be OK...) because her quality of life was pretty low, and we were spending so much time looking after her and stressing out, and in the end she died peacefully knowing that we were all OK. So...... that's my story, and that's partly why I am looking forward more to seeing DHs parents. My mum passing away is also the reason why I can now afford to take a year off work, cause we will get some money when we sell her house. I have had to look on the positive side of things, and in some way I think it has all happened for a reason. I am not at all religious, but something was going on... Milla looks alot like my mum. Its been the best way to look forward and be happy in what would otherwise have been a very hard and sad year. Since we also got married recently, I say that this 12 months was once of "births, deaths and marriages"..! They know me well at the registry ;)
Other news... welllll, we just had massive car issues too. Must be going around. Our old Laser, that DH drives to work, just cost $1200 to fix cause the clutch was all stuffed. They just kept ringing and saying "oh, and we will also need to replace this part now..", and it went from being $300 to $1200!!!!! I was mad, cause if we knew that from the start I would have probably just got a new car - its so old and barely worth that anyway! but anyway - its done now, and driving nicely- so it should!...
Milla is drooling everywhere, has her fist in her mouth all day, and is very very chatty and smiley. No more laughs yet... she is grasping things pretty well, and is so interested in everything - she really studies things with this gorgeous look on her face. She is back to waking twice at night, but now I am only feeding her the second time, so hopefully she will learn that the bbs dont come out at midnight! Day sleeps are puuuurfect - I am loving the few hours I have each day.
Kim - It would be great to meet you!... I will try to figure out how to PM you my details. I live on the northside.. Hope your tactile quilt is going well - I have started sewing mine, and its very very bright - you need sunglasses to look at it!
And Scone, that is great about your $12 sewing machine !!! Are you making square nappies, or those fitted fancy ones?? Have you seen the terry toweling in Spotlight? I love the Bright Bot nappies too, I wonder where they get that fabric from?

Campari, I had a little rover that I burned out the clutch on as my 1st car. Thank God my uncle is a diesel mechaninc and could replace the clutch 4 me. saved me over $500!

ali, I will be so very happy if having a bub reduces my cramping. But I'm not sure. I actually had some afterbirth pains with Xavier and could feel it all contracting. I had to take the edge off with panadeine for the first week, which apparently is very rare in a first pregnancy.
Kim, we have some bigger 000's as well, but not many of them are short sleeved and it is getting so very hot. I thought we had heaps of clothes, but with this weather I don't think xavier will be wearing much this summer. We have lots of singlets thankfully. wow at your grabby little man. Xavier likes to grab what i'm wearing or my fat rolls :lol:
Campari, you have had a big year. Sorry to hear about your mum but your outlook is fantastic. I hope you and Milla enjoy your time with your PIL.

Just a quick one from me today (unusual, I know!). So busy lately since being back at work. I thought I'd be able to catch up and post at work but that was wishful thinking as am getting the office re-oganised due to my return.
Sara, I'm very glad nothing major is wrong with Colby. I guess the drive to the Emergency Dept is like a rite of passage for parents at least once in their child's lives what with fevers and flu and whatnot. I'm dreading any illnesses! Hopefully this move towards 24 hr GP centers will improve those 4hour + waits!
Willa just woke up, damn! Basically she's been a hungry baby lately, now taking 180mls on average of formula. Its crazy, I dunno where she puts it all! I am sick of feeling so sleep deprived and run down all the time. It's annoying now when I'm back at work and every spare moment is taken up by something, work, family, etc etc. Feels like I don't even have time to think sometimes. Anyone else experience this at all? Its not like WIllz is getting up 4 times a night (tho she did this last night). Its one time on average but what with cleaning and running the house and working, its all getting a bit REAL. But hey, worth it, right!

Happy 4 months to Colby and Xavier!! Wow, it seems so old huh???
Since I have the PILs here (more on that later), I have been looking at nb photos of Milla, and showing them how small her 0000 clothes were... she is 6.1kg now, so double the weight she was when she left hospital. She looked sooooo small in the early photos, I can't believe how much she has grown already, and I want another nb already!! Where did that time go?
Sonia - I don't know how you do it, with working and getting up a few times a night. Hang in there though, cause I'm sure it will improve. Milla is mostly waking twice a night between 7pm and 7am - usually at 12 or 1, then again at 3 or 4. Last night was a miraculous huge sleep with only a 4:20am wake up. My bbs were so overflowing when I woke at 6am, I expressed 100ml out in about 3 minutes - it was spurting everywhere.
So, the PILs. Its OK. They are lovely people, and are a great help with dishes and cleaning ;) I am being very adamant about doing things my way in terms of feeding Milla and putting her down for sleeps.... MIL has never BF, so I have explained to her that Milla gets all her requirements through BM, and some of the time she is just thirsty etc. MIL asks every time I feed her "oh, she can't be hungry already can she?" ... I have some EBM in the freezer, so I showed her the layers it forms, and explained that sometimes Milla just drinks the "watery stuff", and that that doesn't fill her up, so of course she needs to feed more often than every 4 hours. Seems to have put the message across, and hopefully I wont need to defend my choice to demand-feed ! I think MIL is genuinely interested in how it all works, and its all ok.
Milla keeps chewing her hand (so much so that she gags sometimes cause her fingers go too far down her throat!!!), and MIL kept saying on the first day "Oh, she must be hungry", but now its obvious that Milla ISN'T hungry, cause she is covered in fat rolls, and eats every two hours or so! Now MIL says "Oh, dont chew your fingers"'!!!!! Nothing is gonna stop Milla from chewing her fingers. Today she started chewing the corner of a chocolate box she picked up.... good taste she's got, i say!
We have had lots of laughing and cackling too - last night I was imitating her cry during arsenic hour, and she suddenly stopped crying, and started laughing at me!! She was laughing for about 3 minutes, just at my pathetic attempt to imitate a cry... ROFL. FIL got it on video....
We have mothers group Christmas party and I am going to make some cookies if I can find a good recipe... I have cookie cutters that have never been used, so now that I am a housewife (temporarily!), with 24/7 babysitters on hand, I am going to cook heaps.
Becca, i reckon the pool-side meeting is a great idea, I'm going to suggest it for our next meeting too. I have got a top-to-toe rashy swimsuit for Milla, but still waiting for the arrival of the nappies. I got some from Beyond Belly too - have you got yours in the mail yet?

Campari, sounds great that your enjoying your PIL's It's good that your MIL is open to listening to how the BF works etc. It would make it a lot easier on you to know that she's just interested and not judging iykwim. She will probably go home an expert on Breast feeding.
The swim nappies, yep mine arrived a little while ago, a lot earlier than i expected seeing as they sent me an email saying it might take 2 weeks. However I'm a little worried that although very good they might not hold breast fed bubba poo. I really don't want the embarrassment of watery poo going everywhere.

Just poppin in for a quick hi. We about to go into town to get BOTH the girls needles done today. Briley is 18 months today!! Ureal how time goes. Colby is getting her 4 month needles. Lucky Brent is home with me today.
Had a terrible nights sleep lastnight. Briley and Colby both woke up heaps. Thats the first night since we've been home that Colby has woken up like that. I think her gums might be aching. Teeth already????
Briley has been pulling on her ears the last few days so i am going to have the Dr check her ears today.

Trust u are all doing well?? Misty & Kirst, if you're reading, how abt this wild Sydney weather eh? I don't think I've ever been so worried abt being struck by lightning! I'm at home today and oh lord, the apartment is SO MESSY. I'd just die of embarrassment if my MIL pays me a visit the way it is now. There are giant dust bunnies prowling the floor like lions on the savannah heheh. I hear what you guys are saying abt getting DH to share the housework but he's taken on a labourer job right now in and he's so tired when he comes home that I don't have the heart to make him do stuff. I work in an office and its low stress, low activity, so I feel I can pick up more of the slack.
We have a new car. Well sorta. The old broken down one got sent for repairs and in the meantime, we're using my SIL's. I think its going to be a permanent swap as she doesn't need it as badly as we do and the other one will work ok for what she needs to do.
My old high school friend and her DH visited us last weekend. They're TTC and had a turn with Willa (who was screaming her head off, so hey what a good advertisement for motherhood lol).
This Sunday, my fat ginger cat decided to fall ill. It was looking bad so we ran around trying to find a vet that was open. I was not impressed with one that only admitted us if we had an appointment even though it was an emergency and they didn't take credit! WHo has that kind of cash at the vets? Turns out the receptionist was 'Gianna' from Big Brother (few seasons back I think). Almost got my eye poked out by her cleavage, but that's another story. We ended up finding a very nice clinic and admitted our fatty, who had a UTI. Got him back yesterday with a $800 bill but hey what can u do right?
A very happy 4 months to Colby and Xavier! Willa's 16 weeks on Friday so i gotta book her in for her 4 month shots. Anything i should know or is it all the same as last time? Same vaccines from what I can gather.
Speaking of pools and swimming, what r ur bubs wearing in the pool? My apartment pool has strict rules abt babies having to wear 'the correct attire' (whatever that is) when in the water. What's the norm? R there swimming diapers or do u just wear a normal diaper under a wet suit?
Becca- i get bad cramping too and yeah so far so good even though I have got AF back, I haven't noticed any cramps so hopefully it will be the same for you. Period cramps are the worse.
Campari - good to know the ILs and you guys are getting on well. It can be so dicey with ILs you don't know that well lol. Good on you for keeping up with your bf routine. i know I'd be more self conscious and perhaps a little defensive if I had a MIL who was a non bf-er staying with me for an extended period. I'm very jealous of your 24-7 babysitting squad.
Kim - I can only imagine that coaching up to 6 hrs might be tough in addition to everything else u have to manage. Your 30th will be fun. DH's cousin's just had her 30th which was a surprise party. She really was surprised! She had her little boy 2 weeks after I had Willa so I think she was glad the organising was done by someone else in the end.

hey neuri! i hear ya abt the weather!! it's been pouring so bad that my balcony is flooded coz the water cant get out fast enough for the outlet, it's NUTS!! that said, any rain is appreciated though - summer has come after all. :)
it's so great to read all the updates from all of u. good to hear that colby is good despite that little shocker poo. :) seems like overall, all the bubs are thriving!
ella's gotten her 4 month needles on 3/12 and what a champ!! she didnt cry as bad as when she first got jabbed and even i took it better too. i didnt tear up this time, i was preparing myself the whole week for that moment! but glad that it's over now n we've got 2 months grace to get over this before her 6th month jabs. ;) other than that, ella's strating to grasp stuff though not as active like most bubs here. still hasnt rolled yet but quite the chatterbox. she LOVES to lie on the table n that's when she is most interactive. o, n she loves her little gym too. i think i've just got her interested in frogs....we were at the post office the other day when i saw this frog n grabbed it as i reached the counter n wow, that thing really makes her smile a lot since it's got stuff sewed in it so it rattles n jiggles a lot. n she's also taken a liking to the frog hanging from her gym too. i've created a frog freak perhaps?? lol
feeding wise, ella gave me shocker when she slept 12hrs straight the other day which obviously left me so engorged n i was so waiting to burst!! had to wake her up coz i was getting worried. i bet she would have slept more if i didn't go poke her. am not complaining abt the sleep i get at night but it can be a worry. another i notice is that she doesn't seem to feed long at any one time ie. she takes a few sucks then pulls away, giggles, sucks a few times, pulls away n repeats it a couple of times before she settles for a so-called proper feed. not too sure if it's the way i'm holding her or maybe she isnt comfy or what....anyone having this prob?
another thing that scared me was when she hadnt poo-ed for more than 2 weeks.....was SO worried but doc didnt seemed bothered abt it n was suppose to ask u guys abt wat to do to get it going before she landed a BIG one on me this morning at 5.30am!!! :-X i have never felt so happy abt seeing poo!
[tmi] as for me, i asked the doc abt the pain i feel when i pass motion coz i do go everyday but maybe coz it's hard it hurts n doc says it could be due to dehydration n so i am to up my water n take metamucil for a month n see what happens. if it doesnt improve, i've got to be checked out. he said that it could be that my tear hasnt fully healed. so fingers crossed, all will be ok. :)

Neuri, I hope you haven't turned prospective parents off having a bub lol. Needles etc were the same as last time but the reaction was a little different. Xavier screamed very loudly. He hasn't been too bad since then although I think we had a little diahreoa sp but it's so hard to tell with a BF bub.
If your complex pool has a strict code you might want to buy the huggies swimming nappies, but there are heaps of re-useable swim nappies you can buy as well, but they do let the wee through and just catch the poo, but in our case Xavier always has runny poo so I don't trust them yet. We bought the sposie ones to use until he has more solid poo then will be using re-useable ones. Although if they don't do anything in the swim nappy you can dry them and use them again.

Misty. Glad to hear everything is ok, it's normal for a bf bub not to poo for a couple of weeks, clearly my minimum 4 times a day pooer is abnormal. Xavier isn't as active as al the others either, maybe they will have other hidden talents come to lite as they get older. Crazy feeding, we quite often have the pulling away a few times, yet mine are usually accompanied by screams not giggles, i don't mind when it's the giggles.
I hope your hydration works and there isn't anything worse wrong for you.
We went for our first trip to the pool today, it was great, but I better go he's just woken up after a long nap following his swim.

Very dry n smokey here, fires on KI n the smoke is blowing all over SA.
The huggies little swimmers r great. if they do poo, tear the side open instead of pulling them down coz otherwise u will make a mess. Sarah has used them since she was little. Haven't taken Em in the pool yet but will soon. Her lessons start in Feb.
Had girls photo's taken today. got 1 free 1 n didn't bother with any others. very cute tho.

Well the needles went fine. Colby had her 3 needles and did'nt flinch!!!! Briley did'nt either! We were suprised that neither of them cried. We were all spinning out that Colby did'nt cry though. She did'nt even cry for the stingy one. We've come to the conclusion that she has a very high pain tolerance! The distrupted sleeps must have been a one off for Colby because she slept through lastnight. In fact she is still sleeping!
Before i forget these were her stats at 4 months:
Weight: 7kg's
Length: 62cm
We did'nt check her HC.
Bec - Happy 4 months to Xavier!! Sorry its a bit late hun but when you have 2 children, becoming fashionably late becomes the norm! How is Xav going??? Did you get his measurments done when you had his needles done??? I was glad to hear that Colby had finally hit the 7kg mark. It was a slow process to get there. Not that she is undernourished or anything. Her weight gain just seemed to slow down there for a while.
Sonia - Your birth story was great! You def have a knack for writing stories! Good to hear that your cat is all fixed! Vet's are rediculously expensive are'nt they! Both of my dogs caught Parvo a few years ago and they cost me $2000!! What we do for our animals, oh i don't know!! Like Ali said, i just use the Huggies Little Swimmers for Briley when we are in public pools. When i am at my uncles we dont use anything on Briley.
Kim - Colby is doing the same thing lately. The pulling of the boob, having a look around, back on the boob, off for another look around. I think its so cute. I love that she is starting to do all these independent things. You seem to be a busy bee lately. Me too! I beginning to dislike this time of the year a lot!!! We have to plan Brent's 30th very shortly too. His is on the 22'nd of December!!! 3 days before Christmas!! How dare his mother!!! ;)
Misty - Good to hear that both you and Ella went well with the needles. I'm suprised that they let you get them done so early. When i got Colby's 2 month needles the Dr said not to come 1 day before she went 4 months. Don't know why though! Don't worry too much about Ella not rolling and stuff. In the next 2 weeks you will notice a massive change. Colby has only started to really roll in the last 2 weeks. BF babies can go up to 2 weeks without a poo. This was brought up at the Sue Cox BF Conference i went to too last friday. The ABA had a pamflet their which talked about it and showed pics of normal looking baby poo!!! Was'nt the nicest thing too see! I hope everything is ok with you....keep up posted!
Rhiannon - Good to hear that Milla is doing well. So you have you PIL's staying with you?!?! Welcome to my world! It test your patience does'nt it. Why are they staying with you guy??? How long for???? If you don't mind me asking. My IL's are here cause 1) Brent asked them!!! :wall: 2) To be here to help me out when i was pregnant with Colby and 3) Because the caravan park they were managing got sold! It's more of a hinderence(sp??) than a help somtimes though. Good hear you are coping though!

All going well here, with my hand-munching, dribbling and laughing little Milla ... no rolling yet here either Misty, but I am not in any hurry for that cause it will be harder to leave her alone once she's more mobile! Its much easier when they stay in the one spot you left them in ;)
Sara... to answer your IL questions... they are here for 8 weeks, and the reason they're here for so long is that they live in Belgium, so its a huge flight, and they want to make the most of their trip. They've both retired recently, so didn't need to rush back to work.... Hmmm. Since DH and I decided to live in Australia rather than Belgium, I can't begrudge them a long visit since they wont see Milla again for another year after this. I don't think we'll be flying to Europe any time soon, that's for sure.
So far its OK with them being here, but its only been one week. We are encouraging them to take a 10 day trip to New Zealand or Tassie, so that will give me a break. Its good in a way cause I no longer have to do any dishes or laundry, but on the down side I can barely get on BB or my email anymore, cause FIL is a computer nerd who spends all day online too .... Its just strange having people around me all the time. I am still getting the bbs out to feed Milla and not really worrying about that side of things, and MIL is really pretty understanding of BF / sleep signs etc. SInce its so hot in Brisbane, I am feeding Milla a lot lately, and MIL understands it to keep her fluids up.... Although she did suggest I give her water, which I wont be doing. In Belgium they give babies cold fennel tea to drink!!

We too have no rolling (:dance:) I am enjoying every minute of her being little and not really encouraging anything except tummy time. We have moved her into the cot 2nite :( and have got it elevated 4 her reflux. I took 2 wheels off and stuck the other ones inside some slightly heeled shoes so it is on an angle of about 10 degrees. prob needs to b higher but we shall c. we got a sids approved bumper so she cant slide her legs between the bars at the end.
Sarah has had a throat bug 4 a couple of days. she has not been happy. :cry:
any way thats about all @ our house cept 4 the car, which is in my blog. TTFN!

Kim, sounds like you have a real little boy there. I'm sure his fascination in boobs will never go away, just alter a little as he gets older. Xavier tries to give us hickies too but he's just looking for a nipple. I think the only reason I lucked out on my lower half not getting bigger was because I still walked everywhere while pg.
Ali, we had a free santa photo taken at Harvey Norman today and when we go in to pick it up tomorrow we can place an order for more and pay for them if we want. I think it's a great idea. The cost to them is negligible 'cause it brings in heaps of shoppers that might buy something.
Oh when we had to tilt xaviers cot when he had a cold Nathan got 2 leaver arch folders that were filled with paper and put them under the 2 legs at one end, worked a treat. Great Idea about the bumper at the other end we still have xavier on a slight til 'cause he gets all congested like me but that's just a blanket under his mattress but I did get worried that he might wriggle down and get his feet stuck between the bars.
I hope Sarah is feeling better soon, I've had a sore throat for 3 days and I have been sooking a lot about it so I can only imagine how bad it has been for her. I also had a lot of head pressure to the point of feeling dizzy yesterday, I hope she hasn't had that.
Sara, Xavier isn't 7ks yet, but he's doing fine so I don't mind. He might end up tall and skinny. I'll post his stats at the end. Glad Colby's sleeping again.

Emma is getting dedicated tomorrow (like a chistening but without the water) so my fam will b down 4 lunch. think DH's fam mite come 4 lunch 2. Just got DH to put the roast in the fridge to defrost 4 2morrow.
Well, it has been far too long since I have posted, I never seem to get a chance to get in here. Jensen just never seems to sleep! 20 min powernaps. 3 if I'm lucky.
FRIDAY I called the health nurse about the fact that Jens has changed his feeding and sleeping patterns (thru the day at least) and has a lump on his gum. Well, they called me back MONDAY and I told them what was happening and they scheduled me for Wednesday. Ended up, he's not sleeping well during the day properly because he's not feeding properly. He pulls on and off ( which seems to be the current trend, I'm reading!) and fights and gets cranky. He's not sealing around the nipple so he's sucking in air, in turn he's not sleeping coz he's full of air and not milk. I then mentioned that I've gone back to work 2 days a week (so not when I wanted to go back! I wanted to go back 3 days in Feb, but ended up going back last week :( ) and that he's fed ebm from a bottle on the days I go to work. Well. Apparently the reason he gets cranky with the feed is because it's easier to feed from the bottle than from the breast. So he's getting a bit lazy. Well. Not impressed. Also, when I'm at work, I find I don't get much milk when I express anymore. So the nurse gave me a list of where I can hire an electric pump and some ideas on what I can take to increase my supply. So as of Wednesday (15wks), his stats are 6.10kg and 62cm with a head circ of 39 - the 25th percentile for all of the above. The lump on his gum is a tooth, but just a bud. But it's a canine tooth, which apparently wont be the first to come thru.
Other than that, not much has been happening here. Andrew, my dh, had all of his wisdom teeth out on Friday. Wow. Day surgery. We had to be there at 7am, and wasn't called to go to theatre til 12. I got a call at 3.30 that he was ready to be discharged. Jensen and I spent the day at South Bank, it was a 10 min walk). We saw the ASIMO robot thing made by Honda. Jensen had a swim and didn't want to get out. I was jealous that he got to swim and not me, coz I didn't think to take my swimmers and I had a skirt on (shock!) and couldn't tuck it into anything.
I am exhausted, and can't remember what I was going to say. :) So hope you're all having a great weekend. Catch up with you all soon!

Scone, even though the canine is not supposed to come up first, some bubs do cross cut. I heard a story about a little girl that was getting christened and she had just cut her first 2 teeth, that just so happened to be her canines, she looked a little evil for her christening lol
Pumping can help increase your supply. There are also some other methods you can use if you check out the feeding threads. Good luck I hope he realises that although a little harder work feeding direct from mum is heaps better.
Kim, don't worry about a chubby baby. a friend of mine had the fattest little baby I had ever seen, rolls upon rolls upon rolls, she is now 3 and perfectly proportioned and one very active little girl and yet her little brother never got that chubby. He's just storing supplies away for all the moving around he's probably planning to do.
Well seems that the more horrific part of my cold is gone, thankfully. It really shocked me 'cause I wasn't expecting to feel dizzy. Thankfully Nathan had the afternoon off on Friday so I didn't have to worry about trying to get to our MCH appt in the heat and feeling dizzy, and he was able to keep xavier occupied.
I went and picked up our photo and ordered the $5 pack 'cause it's our first xmas and i'm a sucker lol, but $5 I can handle, can't remember what I get I think it's one big photo and a couple of little ones still cheaper than most of the places and a reasonable quality. Plus they only take a day to process it. When it comes to xmas presents for great nana's and grandpas it's cheap as chips and appreciated more than a gift.
