Hey Ladies

Georgi - I am so happy to hear that Eden is doing so well! You sound so incredibly happy. You really deserve it after your experience with DS1. How did your first outing go? I hope you were pleasantly surprised! What a great stint Eden had for you!! I am soooo jealous. Jacob is all over the place at the moment... I don't know if it's his oral thrush or what, but he's feeding every 1.5-2 hrs without fail. And he will NOT sleep unless he's with me or someone else is holding him. It's really hard cause I can't get anything done, going to the toilet has become a real treat in my life. I don't know if I'm doing something wrong or if it'll pass when he gets better..

Cathy - Welcome!! Glad you've chosen to stick with us! :) I'm so glad to hear Charlie boy is easy going, that must have a lot to do with your attitude. They always say calm parents calm baby... you'd have it fairly down pat by now!! Hope he continues being a good boy for his mummy!

PP - I'm so sorry to hear about your families attitudes but I am so proud of you for rising above it and doing what suits you. I actually went over to my in laws the other day (which I sooo wasn't ready for, Jacob is just too young and out of sorts with the oral thrush). My FIL insisted that I switch Jacob to bottles as I know how much he's had and I know when he's crying that it's not cause of hunger cause I have proof of what he's taken and he claims to know that mastitis is painful and not worth experiencing when you can avoid it by bottle feeding. I just said to him "well, I totally agree that bottles are easier in that respect (that you can tell what they've had) but I want to breastfeed and while it's working for us I'm going to continue it.." I think you're doing a wonderful job by perservering and working through everything and you're doing what's best for your baby so good for you. I remember you saying Millie had oral thrush too, how long did it take you to get rid of it? and did you get it in your nipples too?? I'm getting really disheartened and wonder if Jacob is ever going to get some relief :(

Marcellus - Wonderful to hear from you. I hope Miriam is settling in well, look forward to you both getting into a routine and hearing from you when you have some time. Sorry that your birth was such an experience but it sounds like you handled it wonderfully and took everything in your stride! You should feel so proud of yourself.

Myboys - you sound sooooo busy!! You poor thing!! Sounds like things are going well though, I hope Harper has had some decent sleep for you today!! You deserve a bit of a break!!

Hey Keli! Congrats on your beautiful baby girl!! Welcome to the group. We have a lovely bunch of ladies in here, I look forward to getting to know more about you and baby Olive. Is she your first?

AFM - Well, I haven't been on much cause Jacob has been keeping me VERY VERY VERY busy. I don't know what's going on to be honest... his feeding is all over the place. He still has oral thrush so maybe that's why. He is actually a really good baby and only cries when something is wrong. He brings up wind really well and is pooping and peeing like a little machine. But he just won't sleep well unless he is being held. I don't know if he's clingy cause he's sick or if he just enjoys the comfort. I will be honest, I was COMPLETELY against co-sleeping. I swore I would NEVER do it, but I am so exhausted and the only way he'll sleep is when he's right there with me so I've had to give it a go. It doesn't always work though, and I've only been successful with it probably four times in total. As soon as I put him down on his own he wakes up crying. He is such a light sleeper too, no matter how deep of a sleep he's in you can't place him down without him realising... I'll tell you, I feel so disheartened sometimes... I just hope we can get something sorted soon. Thankfully my mum has come out for a few nights, I called her yesterday as DH went back to work today and I just can't handle it all myself.

Hope everyone is doing well, sorry if I've missed anyone, I'm trying to get through this as quick as possible so I can do some jobs while mum has Jacob asleep in her arms!

Hi and welcome Keli! What's with these babies wanting to come out the 'wrong' way, hey?

Jules, big hugs. DS was just the same as you describe your little one, only without thrush. Are you using something to get rid of it? There are creams I think that you can use on him and your nipples (have to treat both). Thrush can make them unsettled too, so sorting that out may help.
DS would only sleep in arms for the first 9-10 weeks. He was very unsettled, hardly every slept at all, cried heaps. We found the hug a bub was really good - he'd have a decent sleep if we carried him around in there. I strongly urge you to get one, or something like it. Maybe try a Close Carrier - it's a similar sort of thing but easier to use. The wrap will hold him in nice and snug and you'll have your hands free to do other things - even go to the toilet :D

Your little man is still so young and is still adjusting to the outside world and he obviously needs lots of help with that from his mum and dad. It's hard on you if you're trying to do other things or have people telling you there's something wrong.
Cosleeping can be an absolute lifesaver also - sometimes it takes a little fiddling to get the details right but it's worth persisting with to see if it helps you both. Can you feed lying down?

This will pass. :hug: I promise you as a parent of a little velcro baby that never slept. For now, just do what is easiest - don't worry about bad habits or those "you're making a rod for your back" comments that are likely to come. That's rubbish.

Marcellus sounds like things are going fairly well for you. I know what you mean when you have to remind yourself it's only be 4 days etc, it feels like so long ago i was pregnant. You are so right and i have had to remind myself that feeding a newborn is quite different to feeding a 2 year old, lots of guiding from us and lots of learning from the little ones. We'll get there in the next few months i'm sure.

Ladies, help me with the username, i can't seem to think of anything that hasn't already been used or that isn't too cheesy.

Georgi, Eden sounds great and you sound like you're enjoying your boys so much. Harper seems to feed quite quickly also, it really varies as to 1 or 2 sides. She can often get tired and not really finish the second side. At night we are lying down to feed also because i am so tired, i find that she falls asleep feeding this way though and sometimes may not get enough to keep her going for a good chunk of sleep. Just going with the flow right now though.

Welcome Keli and congrats on your little girl Olive. Look forward to hearing how you're going and sharing this special time with you.

Jules you are not doing anything wrong, i think as mothers (or for me) i always look at myself to think of what it is I am doing wrong but it often isn't us. Don't expect too much at this early stage, things will settle but it's really common for things to be all over the place right now. It may or may not help but maybe put one of your t-shirts down in the bassinette and have Jacob lie on that, maybe smelling you will help him feel safe. Or maybe it is the security of feeling you that he needs!?!? It was just a thought. Harper is still feeding all over the place too, i couldn't tell you when, one side or two or how often she fed today. When she's a little older i hope it will settle a little so i can start planning things around feeds but right now i just know it's not worth trying. That is one thing i'm much more relaxed about this time around, i used to look at the time when the boys started crying and think, 'no, it's not ever 3hrs yet' and try and get them through but not this time around. I'm glad you've got your mum to help, you still need to be able to get some 'me time' even if it's to have a shower in peace or even go to the loo :)

Cathie i hope your little Charlie boy is still going with the flow for you. How are the others settling in to having a new brother. I found the boys were much more argumentative towards eachother but it's even starting to calm down a little already. They love Harper though. When Charlie was born Aidan couldn't pronounce Charlie and he'd call him Chargee, so our Charlie is Charlie boy or Chargee :D

AFU Harper is great, like i said to Georgi it varies as to 1 or 2 sides each feed and they are pretty quick but gosh she is putting on the weight also. I can just see it in her cheeks and in her tummy when she's a rudie. She definately has her moments of when she will or won't sleep in the bassinette and last night i think she was in bed with us until about 4am. The only thing that does scare me a bit is that either i'm more relaxed or i'm just so tired that i actually do wake from quite a deep sleep with her next to me. I do sleep using my arm as a barrier around her and i don't find that i move around at all but still the deep bit of sleep just scares me a little. But we're getting sleep and she's happy so we'll work with that.

DH has gone fishing and i put Harper down and started to write this post so i could listen out to make sure she didn't wake straight away before i hoped in the shower, i'm now ready to finish the post and she seems to be waking so no shower for me yet. Cheeky girl.

One big thing i have noticed with number 3 is the washing!!!!! There are Harper's loads, the boys, mine, DH, bedding, nappies and towels. It's never ending :o

Wow, good numbers in here! Although we were the 20th, I think I'll set up camp with the ladies I know ... if that's OK with y'all!!!!

I'll do personals when I'm expressing, at the moment a status update ... He was 3880g at birth, I had the birth I wanted and Trev hated it cause I appeared to be in a lot more pain and he was helpless. Discharged after 1 day, and on day 3 had the middie visit at home, he had lost 460g which is > 10% and bad. So put onto comp feeding etc. Day 4 he was back up 130g and we've been discharged from the midwife program. He's feeding well (I think) although last night/this morning I fell asleep with him on my nipple and woke up 5 hours later with him still attached - ouch!

MARCELLUS - Eden was born on the Tuesday & was weighed on the Friday (1am), he had lost 130g since birth. I then had he weighed the following Tuesday and he'd put on 280g, in just 4 days! I know the scales may be slightly different but that's still a good gain. So i'm pretty sure he's getting enough milk. I'm going to get him weighed again in two weeks from now JIC

KELI - Howdy! Welcome... Olive is just adorable. Birth very rarely goes to plan as I'm sure many here can vouch for. Glad you still got a VB though

JULES - I'm just gonna throw a couple of suggestions out there... Firstly do you wrap Jacob? Is he wrapped tight so he's arms don't get out? That may help. secondly, I know you're probably dead against dummies, but perhaps you can try to hold out his feeds by using a dummy. That may give you a bit of a break but may also make him take a bigger feed after 3 hours rather than small feeds. That way he might get fuller for longer and may be more settled. Just putting it out there. There are many things I do that I was always dead against. Just do what you need to to get by. If they cause bad habbits then you can correct them later. I think for now you really need to get some rest. I hope your mum can help with that.

MYBOYS - Yeah I think Eden gets sleepy when feeding laying down too. I'm not sure if it's cause it's dark or what but same as you, I just go with it. If I can't get him to wake up & take more than I figure I get back to bed quicker. Oh, I notice the extra washing too

KAZBAH - I wouldn't expect you to be anywhere else lol. I have fallen asleep many times when I was feeding DS1, but never for 5 hours. You must've been tired

Eden had a bit of an unsettled day yesterday. More that he wouldn't sleep much. He slept between his 11.30 & 3.15 feed but the rest of the day he'd only sleep while on me. I'd put him down & he'd wake up again. He was never crying though so I wasn't too bothered about it. He did his usual 8.30pm bed, 1am & 4.30 am feeds. I'm wondering if this is becoming a bit of a routine. Gotta go, both kids are calling for me....

Marcellus - thank you so much for your kind words and ideas! I'm researching where to buy a close carrier, I watched a YouTube video and it looks great!! The sling we got is hopeless.. Oh and we are treating the thrush with cream for his bum and one for my nipples.. And oral drops for him..We see the community health nurse on 5th Jan.

Georgi - thanks for the tips, we have tried swaddling and also an ergo pouch that a friend bought, no luck.. Will keep persevering.. And in regards to dummies, I'm all for them if they work but he won't take them.. Sometimes he will but mostly he just screams until you take it away.. If only there was one easy thing to sort him! But thanks for the ideas, I'll continue trying.. I'm a total zombie and can't wait for some decent sleep. Mum is watching him between feeds today so I can go sleep in my own bed.

Hooray for granmas Jules! Sometimes the best thing to do is just work around it, you know? Get sleep when and how you can. For what it's worth, this sort of thing very often settles down all by itself by around 12 weeks or so (which seems ages now, I know, but isn't really that far off).
Is it hot where you are? It's stinking here and DD feeds very frequently - they will feed more for thirst when it's hot, just something to bear in mind.

Georgi - what a porker :rofl: Well done - clearly he's getting plenty of milk.

Wow at 5 hours sleep Kaz, but hope the nipples are ok. Top ups notwithstanding, :hooray: for breastfeeding! Well done on all your hard work. I hope he continues gaining well and things get easier for you from here.

Yep. The washing. Fantastic isn't it? I'd just gotten used to going 3 days between nappy loads too! Oh well.
DD spends most of the night next to me in bed. If she won't settle quickly in the cot I just can't be arsed bothering. I wonder if maybe the smell of milk wakes her up though, she feeds so often through the night. It is hot though :dunno: Never mind, it'll all be different next week.

We're having our first outing today - for lunch with the family while my sister is still here.

Myboys, thanks for the advice on diet. I was so deprived during pregnancy due to the reflux I had that I have kind of been eating as I please. Not anything spectacularly spicy, and I still can’t stomach fatty foods anyway, but I hadn’t much considered how it might affect Millie. I’ll keep an eye on those tell tale signs.
I get tingly as well during letdown… it was at its worst when Millie had oral thrush. That definitely increased the sensitivity, but it still twinges a bit. Happily they still serve their recreational function - it’s nice to feel like something other than a dairy cow :)

Marcellus the funny thing is Millie hasn’t increased demand… she seems to be going longer and longer between feeds. I fell asleep on the couch after an early lunch and woke up at 2. Realised she last fed at 9 – 5 hours!!!!! So went and woke her up – actually had to WAKE her. She had a very big feed at 9, but did a bit of a chuck after it so I thought she’d be up for a feed earlier (hence the early lunch). She’s got great colour, is alert when she’s awake, wees and poos like mad and is growing like a weed, so I don’t think she’s unwell or underfed… she just isn’t wanting to be fed as often. My breasts have settled down now though, I think the nipple shields were stopping her from draining them efficiently. I’m so glad your episiotomy site is more comfortable now. Out of interest what homeo remedies are you using?

Georgi sounds like I have similar issues to yours… it’s so reassuring to know that it’s “normal”! Also reassuring that you fed DS1 for 10 months in spite of it all. You know even the lactation consultant said she had family issues with bf – apparently her brother-in-law said really aggressively “You’re not doing that feeding thing, are you?” ????
Amelia feeds both sides. It’s really hard to know when she’s had enough (hence the chuck this morning) so I leave her on as long as she’s interested, and always offer both sides. Sometimes she’s only on one side for 10 mins, other times 20, this morning 30 (she was awake and sucking the whole time so I let her go)! I’ve had different people suggest different things – MIL said no more than 15 a side, community nurse suggested 30 mins each side… I just try and give her what she wants.

Hi Keli, congratulations on Olive’s arrival – what a cutie! Looks like she has a beautiful head of hair. Did the old wives’ tale about reflux during pregnancy ring true for you?

Jules, Millie finally has her little pink tongue back (which she just loves showing me, cheeky thing :)) I was using the Daktarin oral gel – she was actually pretty good about it, although she tended to gag a little when I tried to put it on the back of her tongue – it seemed most effective to smear it on the front part of her tongue and then let her suck my pinkie for a bit to get it to the back of her mouth. Sudocreme dealt with her red bot. Yup, I had it on my nipples – ouch. The Daktarin gel was a bit irritating and while mothersafe suggested using the Daktarin cream, when I went to the chemist to get it I found the Moogoo anti-fungal cream which was quite soothing and seemed to work very well. The lady at mothersafe said the drops are a bit harder to administer than the gel for an infant, so perhaps that’s why it’s taking its time clearing up? I’m glad you have your Mum with you for the time being. As far as sleep and settling goes, my sister gave Amelia a little LeapPad toy called Scout for Christmas – it’s a little dog that has lullabies and environmental sounds that run for either 10 or 20 minutes. I put on the environmental sounds for Millie when she’s a bit unsettled – it’s things like ocean noise, crickets chirping etc… white noise that helps her nod off without me staying with her. You could perhaps try something like that?

Yay Kaz, come join us! Our babies didn’t stick to the date range so why should we?!

I’m waiting for summer to come back. It’s not raining, so I could probably go for a walk, but it is actually pretty cold and I’d rather not take Millie out in it. Just watching cricket (oh my God how life has changed – DH is thrilled :)) and STILL writing thank you notes!

I've read through everyones posts and all I have to say from experience is that the first 6 weekas are the hardest, it's all trial and error at this stage, just keep doing what you are all doing ladies as you are all wonderful mummies.

Myboys - Yes the washing is alot of fun. Lily has been a wonderful help since Charlie came home, the twins have had there noses put out. But hey they just need to get over it as charlie is here to stay. Hana loves to help changing and dressing and bathing charlie, Sam not to interested.

AFM - Charlie is the best baby, we have to wake him at night to feed him. I won't let him go past 5 hours for a feed even though he would. I'm feeling much better, getting around more and feeling better below. Went out today with the 6 kids got a few funny looks off people. If anyone would like a set of twins they are free to good home. :ROFL:

expressing .... quoll has, I think, lost weight again. he just downed 90ml of formulae :( and wouldn't take the boob before-hand. mchn visit hopefully tomorrow, and mum & dad go home to brissie. i cant even express 10ml, sono wonder he's losing weight. bit teary today. welcome all the new faces, an good to see the old ones. cya.

Eden was the perfect baby last night. I put him down around 8.30pm & he didn't wake till 1.45am then again at 5.45am. If only DS1 would sleep a bit longer. He woke at 5.10am boo! But I feel like i've had some decent sleep. I was such a zombie yesterday, had bags under my eyes. I couldn't nap during the day cause Eden decided to have awake time while DS1 slept. I managed to get through it though. I am going to try to get out of the house more today as I think I get more tired when I'm lounging around

Myboys - Sounds like things are going well for you and Harper by just being relaxed. I'm finding I'm doing much the same when it comes to not totally watching the clock (I do sometimes I must admit). How you sleep with Harper in bed, with your arm around her and not moving at all, is very much the same as what I did with Jacob. How did the walk in the pram go? I considered doing the same here yesterday, Jacob was out of control yesterday.. even my mum admitted that babies shouldn't be awake that much and they should settle a little easier.. He does the same thing with the basinette, I can often get him in there but it only lasts ten or fifteen minutes and that's it!!! One unhappy baby!! Oh, I hear you on the washing part!! and it's only Jacob, DH and I!!! Thankfully DH was doing the washing on his days off and then mum arrived his first day back at work so she's taken over that duty :lol:

Marcellus - Yes, thank god for grandparents!! I didn't get any more than half an hour rest all up yesterday, it is incredible the amount of awake time he has.. we're working with it and just trying different things each time we feed/settle and working with what shows the most positive results. Yeah it's been pretty humid and warm here but we've had the a/c on pretty much since we got home! He is such a warm baby that I don't think he could survive without a/c!! (how did they do it in the old days!!!!) How was your first outing? by the way, I totally admire your relaxed attitude...I try SO hard to do the same, but when I'm getting about two hours sleep in TOTAL a night it's hard to be positive. I'll just keep trekking on.. Oh and I found a Close Carrier, can't remember the site though haha..hopefully it'll be here soon!! It'll be great for when mum goes back home.

PP - How confusing is it when people tell you how long on each side or even "one side only per feed"... I figure if that many women can have different opinions then it means there is no correct answer...so I just go with the flow now - if I want to switch sides I switch sides, but if he seems to be getting enough then I let him go. You are getting to be quite the pro at this feeding business!! So great Amelia is growing and filling nappies. That's what I'm noticing with Jacob and I'm trying to take comfort in that...I just can't wait to get him weighed early January and see what progress we've made..(fingers crossed!!!!) Thanks for sharing the info on thrush, sounds very similar to what we're doing here, except Jacob is having oral drops instead of the cream on his tongue. Is it the same one you were recommended for your nipples?? It's so funny you mention MooGoo, I had never heard of it until my sister in law (who's a pharmacist) suggested it to DH when we visited there the other week. It is unreal! I have a wash and a moisturiser and my skin is so much nicer!! It's such a shame we live in the middle of nowhere, I can't just pop down to shop and get supplies of any kind. Plus it's christmas so it makes it soooo much harder!! (not to mention the floods!!!) :lol: whinge over.

Cathie - Charlie boy sounds fantastic!! Pass on the twins also! I'm sure they are adorable and great kids, but one is already damaging enough to my sleep :lol:

Kaz - :hug: hang in there love, your hard work will all pay off. The best thing about expressing is you do know how much you are producing, and the only way to produce more is to get rid of what you have, so keep it up and I'm sure your body will respond to Williams requirements..Most definately ok for you to join us! There is no better place for you then right here!! :)

Georgi - Didn't get much sleep yesterday, maybe half an hour total? I was getting quite cranky by the end of the day, I just can't function on two hours max in total per night... three weeks like this is just about enough! I can't see the community health nurse till next wednesday which is such a bummer but I'll just keep perservering till then. Glad to hear you had a good night with Eden last night, sounds like he more than makes up for having that awake time.

As for us - well, we're going with the flow...yesterday and last night till midnight was absolutely out of control, I was in tears by the end of it. We ended up getting two small stretches of about an hour and a half sleep which was better than nothing! He actually went in to the basinette for them too!! This morning has been a little on and off but we're managing..I have just put him down now and so far so good, in the basinette. I'm just a LITTLE excited that he's actually having some of his sleeps in his basinette, hopefully I won't have to bring him to bed with me any more...we'll see. We actually think it's a build up of wind so we're focusing more on winding and he seems to be responding to that so far.. Thanks for all the tips, we're trying a bit of everything!!! :)

Oh Kaz how upsetting for you :hug: If you're stressing about the feeding that may affect how much you get from the pump too. I'm sorry it's so hard for you. I hope the nurse visit yields better news than you expect.

Jules, my boy-that-didn't-sleep taught me some very valuable lessons. One of which was that struggling against the inevitable is totally futile. It took me a long time to get there but I eventually 'gave up' and just went with it. Makes everything much easier - there are some things in life that we just can't control. Good news about the close carrier - hope he likes it.

I hear you on the lack of sleep. DD does not do nighttime sleeping, but has good long naps during the day so I can catch up then, thankfully.

Pixie, sounds like you've got things well in hand. Most of the time following baby's cues will see you right, so whatever she wants is probably fine.

Didn't end up going out as everytyhing was closed or fully booked. So we had nandos at home instead. Wasn't feeling great yesterday so probably fo the best. Just left the house for the fist time today to post a letter - how exciting. I'd like to take DD out but it's really horribly hot and I'm still not really up for much anyway.

Oh, the homeo things I"m using are arnica - great for bruising - and hypericium (sp?) - which is supposed to be very good for healing episiotomies.

Hello you chatty bunch! Had family here for five days and it just took 20 mins for me to catch up! Typing one handed, as feeding a sleepyhead.

Dream baby is back! I discovered that chocolate, even in teeny amounts, was setting her off. She's back to lovely, feeding well through the night and having two hour sleep stretches by day.

We hven't seen poo for 8 days now, and I'm starting to get scared of the explosion we will face when it does come!

We had our wedding anniversary yesterday - couldn't face going out and heaps of stuff was shut anyway, so we got takeaway noodles with my mum and brother. Bro just flew home, he is so incredibly in love and so very good with his new niece! Sad to say goodbye.

My right boob is the dodgy one - sometimes DD pulls off with a pain cry, sometimes she tugs the nipple from here to billy-o. I figured maybe it's because she lies on her left side, which is her descending colon side, and that's where the poo is banking up (?) Tried the football hold for a couple of feeds, seems good.

marcey - I used arnica too, no idea if it helped because I have nothing to compare to. I started taking it in labour, though, and was healed enough to walk home 40 hours after birth, which amazes other people, so it probbly worked :D

Jules - hope the close works for you. We love ours. Was especially good when we had four days of rain and I was dying to get out of the house - popped her in there and went to the shops with a brolly. I hope Jacob's sleeping improves and that having your mum around is a help.

kaz - hope your mchn visit is a goodie and fingers crossed for no weight loss. You're doing awesome, no matter what, OK?

I know this sounds silly and you have probably tried all you can - it's so hard not to stress when you are trying so hard and you are sleep deprived. But I was stressing with my expressing and thinking I wasn't getting enough so I would just relax, take a really deep breath and have a drink of water with my spare hand and focus on something else...I found once I relaxed it flowed a lot easier..may be worth a shot? Either way, you're doing a great job and good on you for hanging in there.

Marcellus - You make such a valid point about just going with it...I've done that all day today, I've just been going through the motions, taking all the cues off him...he is having such small sleeps, but he's actually HAVING sleeps so I'm pleased. He is up for a fair while each time as we feed, wind, change, feed, wind put him down - when he cracks I pick him up, wind...if he looks for more milk I put him back on. I thought it may be a supply problem but expressed 120ml this morning no problem and every time he stops and needs winding he has milk around his mouth and I'm dripping all over my breastfeeding pillow so I highly doubt that's the issue here!! On a positive note, I'm sure his thrush is on the mend...fingers crossed!!

Audux - Happy Wedding Anniversary!! Hope you had a great day. Yay at discovering chocolate was the issue!! I've been steering clear of sugar as much as possible...here I was thinking that once the pregnancy was over I'd actually get to eat what I liked...didn't take breast feeding into consideration! :lol: oh well.. :) I'm glad your little one is back to herself again. How did you enjoy christmas with your family? That's so cute your brother was a proud uncle, I have three brothers and they haven't gotten to spend much time with Jacob yet... I live six hours away and they came up to the hospital when I had him but he was asleep so they didn't disturb him...then when I went back to stay with mum and dad they'd all travelled out to their jobs (they all work out of town) one of them was so disappointed to hear I'd left town already, he missed me by a day. I'm going back up on the 19th January to see my Ob and Jacobs Pediatrician so I will hopefully see him then and he can have some cuddles!! Wow, eight days no poo!!! I get so confused...they say to me "as long as he is peeing and pooing frequently, he is getting enough food" and then they say "when they go through a growth spurt it's likely they won't poo for a week or so..." I think I'll be stressed when he stops pooing that he isn't getting much, but I think it'd be unlikely my milk supply has dropped... He seems to be growing so fast!! He's already out of 00000!! He still fit them width wise (just) but the length was so stretched! Today we started putting him in 0000 and they are the perfect length but just a little wide - but he still looks so cute :)

Anyways, clearly I'm having a better day, given that this is the second time I'm on today!! I've had a few naps while Jacob slept today and man, does it make the world of difference!!!! I was going to have another one but my poor mother is so tired, she's been sleeping out in the lounge with me, but on the couch while I'm on the guests bed mattress! I cant convince her to sleep on the other spare mattress, she is determined to help me day and night. She's such a gem. She just drove an hour to go get some more oral drops for Jacob and get some groceries we were desperate for so I've insisted that she go and rest in our bed.

Certainly sounds like you've plenty of milk Jules, as you'd expect feedgin as often as you do :D It is typical in the first month or two for them to have at least several poos a day. They don't genearlly start going long stretches without poos till they're a bit older.

Quick question - would ginger and shallots cause a reaction for Millie? Had Hainan Chicken for lunch, which I figured was nice and bland, but forgot the ginger and shallots... and now Millie is having a screaming hissy fit.

Other thought is that she hits 6 weeks tomorrow and could be wanting extra feeds? I just don't know if I'll be doing more harm than good if it is the ginger and shallots? *sigh*
