Tonight I will savour that little body next to mine, even if she does wake me up every couple of hours.

Kaz, I meant to congratulate you on 3 months of breastfeeding.

EJ - 14 months, wow. My GF's DS is 18 months & still wakes. He's always been bottle fed. Gosh, I don't think I could handle that. Yeah the dancing is great. I'm hoping a couple more sessions & he'll be right into it. I love watching him interact with other kids, it's so cute

PP - Glad you're over your insomnia. I was for a while there but seem to have it again a little now.

JULES - Oh no, I hope he's more settled for you today. I know DS1 was always unsettled after we return from holidays. Unfortunately I can't remember how long for but I hope it passes quickly. It sounds like he's just so over tired at night which is why he's so hard to settle

MADB - So you fed DS bananas at night? Am I reading that right? That's unusual. Why not give him some milk?

KAZ - Your poor garden. How did they manage that? Were they drunk? Good to hear you're getting some well deserved rest

Well ladies all's good! Eden had put on 175grams. I can't go next week as I am in training for two days so I'll take him the following tuesday to be sure he's still tracking well. I've been feeding him lying down, in his bedroom (I have a single bed in there) and he's feeding well. I can now recall having the same issues with DS1 so I fed him in his room every feed. But I didn't want to do that this time cause it makes it hard to feed when out cause it's too noisy & bright. I'll see how it goes. I guess it's just important to get the feeds into him right now and deal with the consequences later. It's a bit tricky with DS1 around cause he wants to be in the room with us so I have to put on a dvd for him to keep him away from us. The great news is that he slept through till 5.45am this morning. I had a much better sleep last night. Though his feed last night was later than usual cause I didn't get home from work till 9. We'll see tonight anyway.

I fed Harper as i headed off to bed last night at about 10pm and she still woke at 1am and then was awake at 5:30am ready to get up. I managed to feed her and rock her back to sleep. It was a bit of an all over the place night last night.

Jules Harper can get really out of sorts from overtiredness and they do say that they can get past the point of even being able to relax and fall asleep as usual if they have just been too over stimulated. I used to hate changing our routine even for a day because i knew i'd pay for it. Sounds like you tried all that you could and feeding him to sleep was probably a really calming thing for him if he was struggling to just relax. With Harper things can be all over the place, sometimes i can put her to bed awake and she will settle, sometimes i have to get her sleepy in my arms and sometimes (especially in the evening) i am in a way feeding her to sleep to finally get her in to bed for the night. I just have to do what works with the unpredictableness of the days.

Very different to what things were like with the boys but we're getting there. I know what it's like with trying to have calm to feed or get bub to sleep and i stressed about it a lot with Aidan and Charlie but with Harper she has Charlie thumping around in her room or Aidan constantly calling Muuuummm while i'm trying to get her to sleep. I just try to not change my composure so Harper doesn't take too much notice of it and she falls asleep anyway.

Well not too sure if you guys have thought about it but this time last year would have been when we were all finding out we were pregnant. For me it was early April but i was a bit slow at realising :)

Sometimes I try to feed lying down during hte day to have a rest and will get DS to bring some books in to read with us. Seems to work ok.
yes, bananas. I wanted to night wean to get my cycles back and DS has never drunk any other kind of milk. He wouldn't even take EBM after about 4 months. Bananas were just easy :dunno: messy unfortunately. ANyway, some kids do need to feed through the night for quite a while (I do hope DD won't be like that). He slept through the night for the first time at 19 months and didn't do it regularly till he was over 2.

Yep, I had my official blood test on April 1, so nearly 1 year since I knew.

I got my BFP on April 1 and nobody believed me! I didn't even believe it, I was just about to get ready to go into the TTC > 12 months group!

I guess nobody really wants to know then that Will sleeps from around 8pm until 6am then? Give or take? Then he wakes up slowly and happily to come into bed with me for a feed, then his bottle and a play, then down for a nap for a couple of hours - he's just waking up now from his nap.

Cathie - thanks for the message, sorry I didn't see it earlier, I was wandering around doing chores. Taking the opportunity to do some of the harder stuff for mum & dad while up here - like cleaning their fans.

Our street is incredibly windy and steep, it's supposed to be a 50km zone but the cops tell me it's too dangerous to put a radar on there. He phoned up yesterday to apologise and offer to clean all the oil from his sump off our concrete. The road isn't cambered correctly for the corners, it's likely he over-corrected and then lost it. Going to go pick up meat after I feed Will (dad won a $70 meat voucher at golf!) and some sweet peas to plant here. Of course, we're visiting Brissie in the middle of a heat wave and Will spent the day in the aircon yesterday. (what a shame he wanted to be next to me!!!) Off to visit a friend this arvie, he has a pool :grin:

Georgi - How cute must that disco be!! I love watching littlies dance!! Glad DS1 had fun! That's great news that Eden is feeding a little better and is still putting on weight, you must be so relieved. Jacob is doing about 10 min feeds also, sometimes a little less...I try to get him to feed longer thinking he'll last longer before needing his next feed but he cries and turns away, so I don't force him. He was doing three hourly feeds for about a week and now he's back to two hourly... It's happened once so I guess it'll happen again in it's own time.

Cathie - ONE MORE?! You are awesome. A big family must be so wonderful, it won't be happening for us though... we've always said two is all. We also said we want them close together but hmmmmmm, not sure how close now. We'll see what happens when Jacob is one I think :) Oh, and I ordered a walker online this morning - Safety 1st Melody Garden activity centre. It's a three in one thing. Swivels all the way around with toys all over the place, walker and rocker. I wanted something other than a walker, cause Jacob just gets so bored. Your comment about the hammock reminded me about a girl we ran into the other day. She's the daughter of one of my mums close friends. She has four daughters and the youngest are twins, they are 16 months old and she is still waking up EVERY HOUR as if it's not one it's the other....dear god, I would be such a zombie. (one of her daughters is really unwell with a heart condition though, so maybe that plays a part).

PP - Glad you had a great time at the wedding!! My brother gets married at the end of April, I can't wait :) Did Millie recover ok after her vaccinations? Jacob gets his next lot on the 6th April :( thankfully DH is on days off so he can come with me this time. I'm such a wimp, I hate seeing him upset.

EJ - That's great Harpers reflux is behaving, I really hope she's just outgrown it!! Jacob is having a hard time at the moment, I'm wondering if it's reflux or not....*sigh* it's so hard to figure things out. We're just muddling through. I'm going to the CHN tomorrow so we'll see what she has to say. If things don't improve in the next few days I'll be taking him to the doctor. Gosh, easter is coming up fast... Are you excited about your trip? I'd love to give you some tips but you're such a wonderful mum, there's probably not much I can give you that you don't already know :) We just keep it simple, he generally goes back to sleep after his 5 or so feed so I feed then and get on the road, and always plan to be in a town that I can stop at each feed. I'm never in a hurry to get back on the road, I take him out...give him a cuddle, feed, burp, change, cuddle and talk to him. And when he's happy I put him back in. He's a lot more relaxed that way - instead of just feed and dash. Oh by the way, our bubs really are duplicates sometimes!!! Jacob goes to sleep for about forty mins, wakes and has another feed and then does about a five hour stretch before waking between one and two :lol: that's on a good night though, some nights he's up twice or three times... Thanks for the comment on Jacobs photo - it was so funny. I sent the photo through to mum and dads phones and dad reckons he nearly fell over. He's so strong, he amazes me every day.

MadB - I'm finding it hard to get Jacob to do more sleeps during the day, he just FIGHTS it so much...we'll get there. It could always be worse, sorry for the meltdown, I was just having a down night and needed to offload. You're doing so well to get up to Miri 4-5 times a night and then deal with DS through the day also...I often wonder what I would do if I was dealing with two children at the moment :o

Kaz - Sorry to hear about your garden!!! At least he was willing to clean up his mess. Gosh, Will is a sleeping champion!! He needs to have a chat to Jacob hehe I am lucky though cause Jacob feeds and goes straight back - except his 5am feed at the moment, it's becoming a challenge as it's like he's full of wind or something...Did you get to go for a swim?? we went swimming twice at mum and dads, it was beautiful.

Well, I think I'm pretty much caught up!

We had a HORRIBLE night here last night, not all caused by Jacob though. DH went out for a few beers with the boys after a training day with work. He left at like 3pm and told me he wasn't sure when he'd be home. I went for my afternoon walk with Jacob and got back and he was getting cranky so I had to do the bath alone and then feed him, he screamed and screamed then I realised he had a big booger so I worked hard to get it out, then he fed a little better but unfortunately didn't settle for bed for like another hour...anyway, I got angrier as time went by cause DH wasn't home yet and I'd had such a difficult time with Jacob. He then arrived home at 10pm and woke me up cause he didn't have a key. I'd only been asleep for like 40 mins.. He climbed into bed and then I heard him getting out, figuring he'd gone to the toilet I went back to sleep then at 11.15pm Jacob woke up so I went in to find that DH had gone into Jacobs room and was laying on the single mattress I've popped in the room to feed Jacob on during the night and he's got the hiccups. I said to him "what are you doing in here? You woke up Jacob! get into bed" so off he goes...(he has no memory of this). I get back to bed at 11.40pm and at 12 I'm woken by DH when he tells me he doesn't feel well. 12.30am I'm woken by him being sick....WARNING - if you have a weak stomach don't read on! I walk into the hallway to find he has been sick ALL over the toilet floor, walls, you name it. So we had to deal with cleaning that up. It was just fabulous. He claims his drink was spiked as he only had a few beers as he was just down there chatting to his boss etc. And he lost an hour on the way home. I finally got back to bed at 1.30 then woke for another feed at 2am :lol: it was a night full of horrors. And guess who the only one awake is......?! That's right......ME!!!!!! :)

Jules you shouldn't have to be cleaning up after anyone but Jacob, especially at that time of the night. You're allowed to be grumpy after that one.

Just a tip about the walker as i know you'd prefer to know than not... My SIL had one for my niece who is now 16 or 17 months i think and i have a feeling she had her in it A LOT because she doesn't put her feet flat on the ground now, she is always on tippy toes. It's something that will go away in time i assume but definately something created from using the walker. I borrowed a similar thing as you're discribing when Aidan was little and i never had any issue at all but he was never left in it for any length of time, just for a bit of variety in his play and that's it. Don't stress about it, let him enjoy the fun it will bring but as he gets bigger and is starting to use his legs to get around just keep an eye on his feet/toes. Take on board what you choose but as i said after seeing my niece i couldn't not say anything.

Gotta go Harper has woken from her 3rd 40min sleep for the day...

Thanks heaps for that!!! I talked to my CHN about it about two weeks ago as I was worried about putting him in one so early and she said the same thing, as long as I don't put him in it for hours on end each day then it should be fine. I plan on only using it when I need to and I'm definately going to keep an eye on his feet being on the ground as that's the second story I've heard now :) thanks for the advice, I like to know these things!!

DH did help me clean up - I MADE him - I was worried about the smell of alcohol as Jacobs room is closest to the loo and it was soooooo strong. I just run the water into the mop bucket (four times!!) and gave him the antibacterial wipes....and then did the final clean as I knew he'd done a half ars*d job. I felt bad as he was so sick but there was no way it was staying like that till morning.

Harper and Jacob are having similar sleeps today then, cause he too has just woken for the third time from a 40 min sleep! :)

God Jules, I would have been LIVID! Glad he made an effort to clean up at least.
Don't worry, I don't get up 5 times. I roll over once and get her from the cot, then after that I just pat her back or if that doesn't work lift my shirt to feed her. :)
We borrowed an exersaucer when DS was a bit older. He liked it for a few days then quickly cottoned on that I was putting him in there so I could rush off and shower, etc, so decided he didn't like it after that :)
Just put DD down on her tummy. She went right off to sleep, which is promising. Just thought I'd try something different. Also Cathie's post reminded me that I'd intended to get a hammock this time, so I'm hiring one this weekend to give it a go. Right now I just need her to sleep any how to stop this overtired-cycle... I'm sure she can sleep well if she's not overtired, but she can hardly sleep at all if she is overtired. :wall:

That's ok Jules i hope you didn't mind me putting that out there but sounds like you had thought about it already :) It's not that my niece can't plant her feet flat on the ground it's that her natural instinct at the moment is to do toes. They actually have to make a point of encouraging her to flattern her feet on a daily basis.

Well Harper is finally in bed but after a lot of going back to pat her on the bum. I actually put my face to hers and give her lots of kisses or just hum and she goes silent straight away. I love that i can have that effect on her. Harper usually has a quick sleep at 9ish but is back in bed an hour later for a longer sleep. But today she just kept having quick sleeps and never got her lengthy one in there at all. We'll see what tonight brings now. Her last feed was about 6:30pm so i could probably try a roll over feed at 9pm tonight.

Tomorrow is our messed up day because we have to be out before 9am.

MadB let us know how Miri goes on her belly.

Well i need to go grocery shop, it's a horrible night but it has to be done.

Kaz, I read your status the other day and just hugged Millie. Bummer about your garden but it's good of the guy to take responsibility for the damage.

Georgi, I'm glad things are settling down with Eden and he's gaining weight :)

MadB, what's an exersaucer? I'm glad Miri was happy to sleep on her tummy :) I suspect that's how Millie will end up sleeping once she's unwrapped, lying over my arm or on my chest leaning back seems to be her happy place.

Jules, oh my gawd. I'm a sympathetic vomiter, I don't know how you managed that! Sorry you're having sleeping trouble with Jacob, poor little man and poor Mummy :( :hug:

As for us... Millie has had a slight reaction to the immunisations, poor little chook. A red lump near the injection site on her right thigh, frequent, massive poos, and general crabbiness. Not all the time, she just gets fed up and tired really easily at the moment. So (apologies to those of you having sleep issues) she has been crashing out for 2 solid hours after each feed. It's a little unnerving as she'd usually wake and grizzle a bit part way through, so I go check on her quite a bit. But she's still blowing raspberries and so forth, so no real concerns. It was such a gorgeous day today - clear and warm, so after the mother's group walk we came home and while she was sleeping I did all the prewashes for her new nappies :leap: and then after her next feed she had some nakey time on a blanket under one of the trees. It was absolutely blissful!

Hey, we're starting to look for a portable bed/cot/swag and carrier for Millie for when we go to Germany in June/July. Those of you who are carrier savvy, what's a good one for a 7 month old? And any suggestions for a lightweight, compact but comfy travel bed? Looking at the KinderKot at the moment but just curious for your advice...

MADB - Wow 19months is so long. I guess you do get use to getting up every night hey. It just becomes a part of your routine

KAZBAH - Eden was sleeping from 5.30am to 5.30am with a feed around 8pm but with this fussy feeding he's just not getting enough during the day to last him, most nights anyway. He's a bit hit & miss atm. It's a lucky dip for me every night. That's awsome that will is sleeping so well. It definately makes life much easier hey

JULES - 2 hourly again, bummer. Yeah they just go back & forth hey. I keep thinking that it's all a phase & next week will probably be different. Oh no... What a horrible night for you. How awful. I hope you got some sleep last night. Your DH really should be making up for that and give you loads of rest this weekend

PP - I hope Millie is feeling better today. We were lucky with DS1, other than his 8 weeks shots, the others didn't bother him at all. I hope E is that way. He was great after his 8 week shots, just slept & slept & slept. He's generally a good sleeper anyway so that's probably why

I just had to log into Fertility Friend to see when my BFP was and it was April 6th at 13dpo. So still a couple of weeks away for me yet.

I'm so thrilled that DH is off work next week & my MIL is coming up for 5 days. Yay! I'll get some sleep ins and some help around the house. I haven't been able to do any cleaning cause of my operation. I obviously have been doing some but my floors haven't been cleaned in 3 weeks, yuk! I usually do them every tues while DS1 is at kindy.

Eden had a rough sleep last night. He was moving around & grunting. I wonder if he was cold cause the temperature dropped heaps during the night. I ended up feeding him at 2am cause I thought he was stirring cause he was hungry, but he continued to stir the rest of the morning. And of course I couldn't get back to sleep after the feed. Then DH got up at 5am and just as I got to sleep DS1 woke. Ah well, only a few more days & DH can get up to DS1 & I can sleep in!

I have two days of training for work (Tues & Wed) and will leave expressed milk for Eden. I'm guessing he'll only need 2 or perhaps 3 feeds while i'm away. I hope he doesn't get use to the bottle and make it difficult to go back on the breast. What do you all think? He was fine after 24hrs of formula from a bottle whilst i was in hospital. This time I have plenty of EBM so he'll only be getting that.

EJ - I don't mind at all!!! I'm glad you told me. :)That's so sweet that she loves your kisses and humming, it's the most amazing feeling when you're the only one who can do those things and have such a positive effect, just another wonderful part of motherhood. Nothing better than being a mum. :) Glad Harper got to sleep eventually, I'm doing a lot of the bottom patting lately, it seems to be a winner to get him to settle in for the night. Last night wasn't too difficult for us (YAY! FINALLY!) he did have a whinge after a while and I went in and picked him up for a cuddle and a kiss and a little rock and I put him back in awake and he smiled and went back to sleep. Such a welcome change from the last few nights!! Hope today isn't too full on for you!

MadB - Oh thank goodness you don't get up five times...having her in a cot beside your bed is such a great idea...I wish I could have done that but our bed is just too big and our room too small!! Hahaha, I'll have to remember not to put Jacob in the walker while I rush off to do something, they are far too smart sometimes :) I hear you on the over tired cycle...I think that's what I'm dealing with here!! But last night was much better, all due to the fact that I MADE SURE he slept more yesterday. Amazing how it works, the more sleep they get the more sleep they want/need.

PP - Haha, I am a sympathetic vomiter normally too...I was just blocking my nose and squinting to look only when I had to. (ears were covered also!! hehe). I'm glad Millie is feeling a little better...Ohhh how nice that you had a lovely day yesterday, that sounds divine!! I wish we could do that here, it's just so hot and uncomfortable outside and we don't get a lot of nice shade. I obviously have no experience with carriers for seven month olds but I agree with MadB about the ergo, my friend has a 16 month old and she still uses it with him, he likes to watch her bake and cook dinner so she pops him in there and he gets to see everything :) She's a really small girl and her back does just fine.

Kaz - What a shame about the swim!! But sounds like a lovely day was had anyway :) It's gorgeous there..

Georgi - I went to the nurse today and she reminded me that he's around the age of a growth spurt....so maybe that's why he's feeding two hourly again, she's sure it's nothing to be concerned about and seems to think he'll be back to normal in the next two weeks. That's good that Eden is still having a few nights of sleeping through, at least you don't have to wake up every night for an extra feed, that's gotta count for something I guess :) Oh how lucky are you going to be next week!! I hope you get some well deserved rest! No wisdom here on the EBM here but I think if he took formula for 24 hours then went back to breast feeding without trouble then you won't have an issue, he sounds like a pretty flexible baby!!

AFU - went to the nurse today, she put my mind at ease about a few things!!! I'm thinking his unsettled days lately have just been from the big trip and busy days as last night was a better night. He only woke once again which was lovely. I needed the rest. Fingers crossed for tonight!! She's really happy with his progress - he now weighs 7155 grams :o apparantly that's a good weight - he's with 50 out of 100 babies on that one.. and his length is 61cm's. Like I told Georgi, she seems to think he's going through a growth spurt so that might explain a few things - such as his feeding and not many dirty nappies (but gosh there are a LOT of wet ones!) Over to do the shopping today - hour drive over and hour drive back....fun..... hope you're all having a great day! xoxo

JULES - I'm lucky if Eden poo's once a week! He also has plenty of wet ones so it's not concerning. 7155 is an awsome weight. Eden was 6310 last tues. He was 3 mths & 1 week.

Hi girls

What i crazy start to the day i've had, Aidan woke up feeling sick this morning and ended up vomiting. I was thinking the worst that it might go through Charlie and possibly even Harper but it seemed to be something in his system he needed to get out and has picked up, got colour back in his face and is his busy little self again. So Aidan didn't go swimming but MIL came over and i was still able to take Charlie to music and left Harper with MIL and an expressed bottle. She took it and slept beautifuly for them.

So Harper woke for a feed just after 10pm last night (last fed at 6:30ish), then again at 1:30am and then again at 6:30am. I'm not complaining about it. I'm wondering if i take up the challenge of her sleeping in her sleeping bag now rather than a sheet?? Do i even 'poke the bear' and attempt it??? The sheet by early morning is a jumbled mess and the sleeping bag could save a little discomfort and disruption. Not too sure about that yet...

I'm trying to get Harper to resettle from her 2nd 40min sleep today. She's fallen back asleep in my arms twice and just fallen asleep feeding. We'll see if she stays asleep this time.

Jules sounds like Jacob is settling back down again. It's so hard to tell what it could have been but when you think about it it could have been unsettledness, trying to get used to being home again and even a growth spurt all at the same time. There really always is some kind of answer to what's happening, whether we work out what it is or not is another thing but they generally do settle eventually.

We too have had a change in dirty nappies, she seems to be really regular again. I was really liking not having so many dirty nappies, the cloth stays so nice and clean.

I don't feel like i've caught up with everyone but i have to go, was supposed to have dinner in the slow cooker and it's almost 2pm and i have the bathroom to clean up after our episode this morning and i really don't know how long Harper is going to last. I wish i could just go to bed.
