Yay! Bottom or top? Do you think the amber necklace is helping?
Bottom right front. Hard to say - poor poppet has a cold as well, and hasn't been sleeping well at all. I *thought* I felt a tooth last week when he was feeding but felt it this evening with my thumb!
KAZ - Eden's two bottom are coming through too. They are just there, starting to buldge. The right one is the one that will cut first. Thankfully he's been pretty good. He's just a little clingy but not bad. I've got the necklace on him too.
PP - It sounds like Eden and Millie are much the same with their feeding & sleeping :) Hope your sinus clears soon
Eden didn't sleep much during the day yesterday, which is odd that he is always unsettled on Tuesday's, the day DS1 is at kindy.....
How often are you bubs pooing? It's lucky if he does one once a week. It's been 8 days today. Will this change once he starts solids properly?
Oh my gosh, Georgi, the poo! Millie has gone from one a day to 3 or 4. And the smell! I thought the difference between bf and ff poos was bad... pheeeeeeew! I imagine Eden will poo more frequently once he's eating more. Thanks for the well wishes, I'm still dosing myself up and hoping like crazy it clears soon.
Today's new food: avocado. She seemed to like the taste but a bit gaggy on the texture. Uh-oh, I'm a textural eater too...
Hey has everyone still got their linea nigra? Mine is still quite dark below the navel. I don't mind, I just don't know what's "normal".
I stepped on the scales at the gym this morning - down 900g in a week. I'm a little bit chuffed!
Hope you're all well :)
xox
great weight loss! I still have my line and had it for ages last time too. Have no idea what's normal :D
The poo is awful isn't it? When DS started solids he went from 1 per week to 1 every 2-3 days, then eventually 1/day when he was eating more (probably 12 months, can't remember)
DD's still going every 3-4 days.
Miri's teeth are just sitting there still. The sniffles seem to have cleared up more or less, but she's started sneezing and coughing a bit... so I'm getting anxious about whooping cough. I've got an appointment with the GP tomorrow so I might just ask for a swab to be sure. I hope I'm just being paranoid.
Hey girls
I'm finally home, so I'll do my best to catch up...
EJ - I'm sorry to hear you're still having issues with your bb's have you made another appointment?? How's miss Harper doing? she's grown so much, such a little sweetheart. Those eyes!! Oh, don't be jealous of the 'warm weather', it was warm up north when I was visiting mum but I'm back home now and we're getting cold days/nights - nowhere near what you are but I definately can't dress Jacob in short sleeves any more :) That's great your SIL wants to try harder but it doesn't hurt to be careful. I hope things continue to improve.
PP - Getting all sorted for your trip? I bet you're excited!! Yay for the weight loss :)
Crumpet - I hope you're having a nice time away!! (and that it's not too cold)
Kaz - yay for a tooth!!! and for rolling onto his side, won't be long now. Gosh, they are all growing up so fast aren't they... Hope his cold passes soon. Did you have a nice time at the wedding? You looked lovely!
MadB - Hope Miri is feeling better soon!
Charlotte - Thanks for sharing the pics of Hannah, she's such a cutie! She's come such a long way, she's a remarkable little girl.
Cathie - how's little Charlie boy doing?
Georgi - Hope Eden is doing well, looks like he's enjoying his solids!!
I hope that's everyone, sorry it's a little short, I have the worlds WORST headache at the moment but been trying to get on to say hello to everyone so thought I'd do it while I had the chance.
Will get back hopefully tomorrow and give you all an update on us :) take care xoxo
Hi ladies going to try catch up with you all quickly...
Not sure who mentioned wrapping but we still do it here also... Well in the wrap me up anyway. She's happy, it's working so i'm not changing anything.
MadB how's the cold with little Miri? Sometimes when my boys were congestied i'd use the vaporisor (water only is the way I prefer) just to take the chill off the air and keep it a bit moist. The amount of times Harper is bringing up milk has lessened with the introduction of solids which is good. But i was attempting to wean her off her zantac and only giving her 2 doses these last few days but today she was sooooo irritable that i get the feeling she's not ready to do that. I gave it a try... :dunno:
Wow Cathie, Charlie is growing beautifuly!! Hope the sickness has run it's course and has now left your home.
Charlotte i had a look at your little Hannah's photos, she is precious. Such a little miracle, you guys are so very lucky. I had a little chuckle with you saying how she's kicking and bouncing of the wall in her basinette. Cheeky girl :) Sounds like she's loving her food.
Kaz hope your sickies are feeling better now. I think it's the time for it, Aidan has had 'that sick voice' this week and i've been asking him if he has a sort throat at all. So far so good but he has a bit of a runny nose. Hope the illness is gone pretty quickly for you guys also. Wow a tooth!!!!! How exciting. Is he reasonably comfortable though? I hope so, i hope he's not in too much pain.
PP so where are you off to all dressed up?? It's always good to have a night out, reminds you that YOU still exist and that you're not just there to feed, change and settle a baby :) Which we love of course ;) I am a little prone to dermatitis mainly just on my hands though, i have to be careful of the soaps and creams that i use. But this is much more irritated that my hands have ever been. What's frustrating is that the dr's don't even know what they are treating, in the mean time while they trial this and that to see if it works i'm so @#$*&^$ uncomfortable. How much (approx) and how often are you feeding Millie now? I only started Harper on solids late last week but i think she's wanting more than i'm actually giving her. Yay on the weight loss also, that's fantastic!! No line here but i'm not sure i ever had very prominent lines anyway.
Georgi so maybe you'll be the next to have some teeth pop through??!! Again i hope they don't cause too much discomfort. Harper was doing multiple dirty nappies a day a couple of weeks ago and then just before i started on the solids it slowed down to about 1 a day and it's still at that stage now. One first thing in the morning and that's it.
So anyway what's happening with us....?? Harper Barper is rolling around and even one after the other a bit today. I just have to be so aware of where she is though and keep an eye on the boys and make sure they are aware of where she is. I need eyes in the back of my head :o She is loving her food and making noises the whole time she's eating, she even sees when it's about to come and gets all excited. I've only tried cereal and pumpkin so far. Her sleeps are going well, the night before last was 11, 2, 4 & then 7 but then last night she skipped the 4 so i can't complain. As i was saying to MadB i thought with the intro of solids and the lessening in the vomiting maybe the reflux was going away also but with only 2 days of having 2 doses a day instead of 3 she had a terrible day today. Soooo irritable... So we're back to 3 again i think. I got a book in the mail today about colic/reflux so we'll see if i can learn anything from that.
And me... Well i just want to hide and not come out. Monday i was ready to break down about it all, my bb's look deformed and i was so uncomfortable. I ended up having to buy some melolite and cover the area up. I was starting to get pain feeding Harper and even panicing a little that this would put an end to feeding her. The dr has now put me on another lot of antibiotics, a different cream and Harper is having the gel in her mouth. We seem to have some improvement but i still look ugly :( As well as that i have a rash on my body that is sooooo itchy, it's been for weeks and again the dr has no idea what it is. He said to take an antihistamene (sp??) but i've been taking it for 3 days now and have no change at all. I don't know what else to do and i've had it with this c$#p. I'm not sure if the rash would be considered viral or if it's stress i really don't now. Does anyone else have any ideas on who else could help me apart from a GP? I mentioned a dermatoligist to my GP but he kind of shrugged it off saying it'll take me ages to get in :dunno: I just don't know what else i can do.
Anyway i feel like a bit of a lepper and just want to be normal again. I have a wedding to go to this weekend and luckily it'll be cold and my dress covers most of my body so that hopefully no one will be able to tell.
Better have a shower and get into bed ladies. Thanks for listening.
I really think you need to see a specialist EJ! Go see antoher GP for a referral if this one won't do it.
Yes i think i will, even try one of the female doctors i think. It's just so hard to fit myself in when i revolve my life around the kids. No excuse i know.... I have to do something because we're getting no where really.
EJ - tried to cut back the Zantac dosage here too...no go. Worst night ever... Will wait till solids are underway properly, apparently that's supposed to help? Definately go get a second opinion, I'd say a woman might be a little more understanding/helpful. Gosh Jacob and Harper are so alike, that's similar night feeds to ours...one day we will get a full nights sleep hey?
We are doing ok here, home and settling in AGAIN. I'm home now till beginning of July so looking forward to some time to get things running smoothly again. Jacob is happy and healthy, can't ask for more really. He's super active, changing a nappy is now a marathon cause he won't lay still. He pulls his knees up ready to crawl but he can't quite pull them up yet so he goes backwards  if I'm sitting behind him he kicks off me and shoots forward. Talking about chunky babies, I haven't had him weighed in a while but I had to buy the next sized disposables for night cause he wee's up and out and I got sick of changing everything in the middle of the night! I've tried pointing it down a little when I pop his nappy on but he rolls onto his side when he sleeps so it's pointless!!
Starting solids tomorrow..bit nervous. Got a few dumb questions..just wondering how everyone else has done it.
Do you give milk first and an hr later solids? Or vice versa?
Did you start off with one lot of solids a day or just test the waters if they wanted more?
Have you been giving your bub water also and is there a limit to water? (I remember being told when he was newborn it was 25ml a day -not that he's ever had any)
Sorry for the silly questions I'm feeling a bit stupid but i am reading too many different ideas in books and thought id see what works for others :)
Hope you're all well. Xo
Jules, we just started DS once a day - some steamed veg pieces to begin with. Brocolli or carrot is good as there's a stem forthem to hold on to. From there you just see how they go. Milk first to begin with - if you follow their lead you'll get the mix right. I know it seems a bit airy fairy, but it really does work. Maybe start with breakfast? Sometimes they need a bit of adjusting to digesting food, so earlier in the day can be better. In theory, if you're waiting till they want to feed themselves, then this shouldn't be a problem.
Water is up to you - breastmilk is quite sufficient for now, but you might want to give him a sippy cup to play with.
Yay on the solids tomorrow Jules!!
I do a morning feed as normal and an hour or so later a bit of cereal. I don't measure the amount as such but put a heaped soon (her little spoon) and maybe a little more into the bowl and mix it with boiled water. I boil the kettle for my cuppa and by the time she's ready for cereal it's cooled down a bit. The consistancy is smooth to begin with. I started with a few mornings of ceral and that was it then a couple of days later added a bit of pumpkin of the afternoon/evening. I'm wondering if she might like a little taste of something during the day too now also!? They say to do a couple of days of one thing at a time so if there is any alergic reactions you can pin point what it was. Harper hasn't had any water yet but she could if i was organised enough. I need to get her a cup. I think they do say that it's good to introduce water with the solids (boiled of course). Amount wise i never had a limit it was just what they took (it was never that much). Keep feeding as you would and introduce "brecky, lunch & dinner" afterwards. And most importantnly take Jacobs lead, you'll know if he wants it and is ready for it. Hope that makes sense and have fun tomorrow. Have the camera and vidoe camera out it's a lot of fun.
do you have plastic sheeting you can put down under the highchair? it'sv ery handy
Thanks so much girls, that's such a great help, that's what I was thinking along the lines of so I'm feeling much more confident now!! Jacob is soooo ready for food, he won't stop watching us and trying to grab at our food haha. Thanks again for sharing your knowledge :)
 MadB it's funny you should mention that!! We live in a company house and it's so weird, the dining room is carpeted!! Needless to say I'm planning on feeding him near the kitchen where I can mop  ...by the sounds of that comment I definately will get the camera ready!! :)
PP - Hope you're feeling a bit better. I still have my LN but it's very very feint. I'm pretty sure I had it till nearly 12 months with DS1
MADB - Did you go to the GP the other day & get a swab? How'd it go?
JULES - Actually Eden hasn't taken to solids too well, he's just not ready. I happened to catch a good shot of him with his zucchini but he's not really interested. I've even tried spoon feeding him farex and again, he's not interested in that either (can't blame him really, yuk). With starting solids all babies, and mums are different and you will find what works for you. If you have time stalk the BB threads, you'll get some ideas there. Are you wanting to start with Baby Led Solids (where they feed themselves) or purees? I have always given solids only 20mins or so after breastfeeds. I find mornings better as baby is more alert & happy after a full nights sleep. Looking forward to hearing how it all goes
EJ - Yep, those teeth are reallly close. Especially the right one. It's buldging a little. Sorry to hear you're having trouble with your BB & that rash sounds nasty. Hope it all clears soon
As I mentioned to Jules we've backed off on the solids with Eden, he's just not interested. Which is funny cause DS1 was 4.5months & took to it like a fish to water. Eden just doesn't care for it. I have put off giving him real food to feed himself at this stage & am giving him a teaspoon of Farex at 5.30pm. He doesn't care for that at all, but as he's so settled at night I wonder if that is helping. I don't want to stop it cause I don't want to upset his night sleep. He sleeps till around 6.30 or 7am now. I thought i'd leave it a week before trying him with veges again
Georgi i found that with Charlie boy, he wasn't really eating and enjoying it until close to 7 months. The food would more so end up all over him when we'd do it. That's why i was so surprised at how eager Harper was to take to her first tastes. Each one is very different :)
Off to a wedding today... in the drizzle :( I'm sure it'll be beautiful though :)
Just a quick one...Jacob crawled this morning!!! Combination of feet and knees, but he got the hang of it and was using his knees more and more!! He did this in a nappy mind you, I was trying to change his clothes and he rolled over and took off!
bloody hell jules, now you're in trouble!
Didn't get the swab - her nose had cleared up already, but GP checked her over and couldnt' find anythig wrong.
