PP - :( on your corrupted card. We lost our HDD once and it sent me into a panic attack, DH sent it off to a data retrieval group who got the images and videos back - needless to say, I'm now a bit paranoid!

AFU - Took Will to the docs today, he's been snuffly and pulling his ear, wasn't sure if it was just teething or ear infection - all's clear. She thinks he may have hayfever? And that in a couple of months when his nasal passages are a bit bigger, the snuffling should stop. Thank goodness. Otherwise, he discovered his foot today, and he's also discovered the teev :( Took Will with me to work, he of course needed feeding! How to get the "pod" to all get to work ASAP is to pull out a boob! Pointed out where I plan on expressing, got the key, was told I wasn't to drink beer in there (it's our beer-o'clock room). Just need to get a comfy chair now :D

Gosh EJ you poor thing!! :hug: you're really having a rough time lately. fingers are crossed that it passes for you soon! Happy Wedding anniversary by the way!! You and DH will have to make up for it when he's better!! Xo

Kaz we find that Harper pulls her ear or rests her hand on her right ear quite a bit. My first thought is always ear infection but she never had any signs of illness. Having a think about it and talking to other people i'm wondering if it is one of her tired signs :dunno:

EJ - happy anniversary! Why don't you do what my Nan did - put all the sick people in the same bed. It would mean that your DH would *have* to help with some of the parenting! No good on your DH being away next week :( I hope you don't get sick.

Will usually has a bit of a cry just before he drops off, but the ear-pulling has only started in the past 2 days. He's now asleep in his rocker.

Crumpet - the picnic sounded lovely, poor Summah Jacob loves watching bigger babies/kids...whenever i'm up north with my family he watches my nephews every move, so cute.Now that I've just admitted to everyone how unsuccesful our day sleeps are he's been amazing....sleeping in his cot for a few hours at a time!! I'm so happy

then went to babies r us and they had some of the lamaze toys for $10, half price cant say no to that so we have added sophie the princess to our collection, mortimer the moose will complete the family when i pick up my layby from baby bunting!

god im having a bad mummy morning today :(

im having big issues getting S to take her morning bottles, she fidgets, fights, throws herself around, coughs, pretends to gag, you name it she does it, its taking me a hour to get 120ml into her, as opposed to 200ml in half a hour like she was doing....
this morning i said "NO" quite sternly to her and she stopped and looked and drank a bit more and then kept going, i had to pin her to me and hold her hands so she couldnt hit the bottle, and even then after a hour a gave up, and heres the worst bit....

i put her on the floor on her tummy coz i know she doesnt like it :redface::redface:

why would i do something like that to her??? :shakehead::shakehead:

i feel so sick to think i deliberatly did something she doesnt like, its not like she is going to learn anything from it....

best i go and put myself in the naughty corner for being a bad mummy today :(

Crumpet - (this is going to come out wrong, I can just feel it) - bad mummy wouldn't acknowledge it to herself, let alone on here. It's so frustrating when they do that. I find distraction works - give a bop on the nose with the bottle and a smile then put it back in. Also, have you heard of breastfeeding necklaces? Basically it's a really bright necklace that you wear while feeding the bub. It keeps them amused and they play with it, not the boob or bottle. Might be worth a try?

200mls of fomulae - WOW! We're still offering Will 150 and he doesn't always finish it.

I guess i could have done worse hey, I just feel so bad i did something she doesn't like to annoy her back....

Hello there!

This time last year I was being checked out for an ectopic pregnancy after a weekend of excruciating pain... Thank God all was okay (turns out IBS was exacerbated by pregnancy)! Can't believe how quickly that year has gone.

EJ, happy wedding anniversary. Sorry to hear that you're still playing nurse. Doesn't it madden you when DHs are just DYYYYYYYING when they're sick... yet we have to soldier on? All those stupid stereotyped cough syrup ads that I thought were baloney... so true...

Kaz, Millie pulls her right ear, usually when she's tired. LOL at your workmates suddenly being terribly busy :) My DH lets Millie watch TV, it drives me mental.

Crumpet, gotta love a sale. And it can be really frustrating when they won't feed, or take forever over it. I don't fight Millie on it anymore, if she's not hungry at one feed she'll make up for it later. She's growing like a weed, so if she leaves a bit in her bottle then I'm okay with it. She usually has between 180-240 ml, usually 5 times per day, but has started sleeping through her early morning feed!!! Two nights running anyway. So over the weekend she only had 4 feeds in 24 hours, but seemed fine...

All's well here, Millie had a great time at swimming this morning, started to fall asleep as she drank her lunch, and is out like a light in her cot again. She loves to stand up at the moment, I only have to gently support her arms or chest. She's got these super chubby little legs that are just so strong! So she stands there, clasps her hands and gives you an "I'm SOOOOOO clever" grin. Must try to get DH to get a photo of that. We bought a new memory card, he is still working on the old one.

Thought I'd just give a quick update. First day @ work today, one of my closest mates started the waterworks when he asked if it was hectic in the morning dealing with Will ... and I left when he was sleeping, so didn't even get a cuddle. Grrr. On the plus side, expressed 60mls today!!!!! I have a nice quiet room, just need a "do not disturb" sign. The bloke who owns the fridge in the room though wants it back, so I've put in for a funding request for a small fridge! :crossfingers: for it. Came home to be greated at the door with a Will who gave me a huge smile :) Makes it worth it. Oh well.

PP - that's great on her standing! Well done!!!!! OK, time for a feed methinks :)

I don't know that it's different with bottles, but why not let her decide how much she wants? She won't starve herself and if she has a few more, smaller feeds or whatever, that's ok, right? Also at this age theydo get very distracted, so a necklace or a quiet dim room can really help too.

EJ, I hope everyone at your house is well soon. DS & DD are both sick. DD not so much, but DS has a cold/cough. Just waiting for the "Man Cold". They're the worst.

Jules, that's a great gain at that age. The weight gains slow a lot after 3 months - imagine if he kept gaining 200-300g per week... he'd be a sumo by 12 months! Glad to hear the sleep is better again.

How cute Pixie :) DS was always big on standing (or trying to), but DD couldn't care less. She's obsessed with sitting... maybe she's more practical/realistic than her brother.

oohhh i love chubby legs!!! we have a cute set of chubby legs here, but she is only just stating to get a bit of strength in them now, she lasts about 5 seconds if we stand her on our legs! :lol:

i think i get frustrated because im so used to having such a easy baby that when things dont go to plan i get flustered :doh:
i am learning not to be such a control freak, and am letting her decided when she is finished and not pushing her to drink more becasue i think she *has* to have the same amount each feed.

AFU: just on the topic of summah and our issues from the weekend, i changed her teat over to the 3 month plus one, which i tried 3 weeks ago and all she did was chock and get a build up of wind on it, and she has improved no end! :clap: there is no fighting, i let her decide how much she is going to drink and dont fight her to drink more, and she doesnt carry on!
its safe to say im feeling a lot better about feeding time now!

other than that not much else is happening, i was going to enrol her for swimming lessons this term but now im wondering if ill wait till she is 6 months instead?
anyone got any thoughts on that??

I bought five peapods as I'm told they are a great starter nappy, but i'm looking for a few other brands to try too, will see what I can find! Still waiting on them to arrive, eight days later. Joys of living in the middle of nowhere. I'm not a member of the aba yet, I keep meaning to join but every time they have a meeting here I seem to be away. Glad your first day at work is over, sorry to hear about you getting uspet :( :hug: I hope you get your fridge!!!

EJ - Hows everyone at your place? I hope the sickness has passed and you managed to miss it. :( that's sad that DH is never around for your b'day. Bloody men, always seems to be about what they need to do! :lol: I gotta laugh about it or I'll burst into tears again today!

Crumpet - Yay on the layby, I love a good target sale. :) Don't be too hard on yourself for the other day, we all have days, mine is like MadB's...I get more frustrated by lack of sleep but I have given up getting upset about it, I'll sleep.......ONE DAY. I'm glad you seem to have worked out the issue though, that's great. I haven't got Jacob in swimming lessons as we go away a lot and I hate the idea of paying for lessons we won't be at. But mum and dad have a pool and we've had him in there a few times. I think it's personal preference, just do what you're comfortable with :) (and Summah of course)

PP - Like I told Kaz, went with the peapods for my first five, to try at least. They seem easiest to use :lol: My DH lets Jacob watch tv too, it's so annoying, cause I'm the one that has to settle him later when he's buzzing from being so stimulated. I have to turn the tv off when I'm in the lounge room or he nearly breaks his neck trying to watch it, cheeky monkey. Go Millie!!! It's so cute when they want to stand all the time, but it's frustrating when you try burping them and they just want to keep standing.

MadB - :lol: on not remembering that you got DD out of her cot. I hope you start getting some more sleep sometime soon you poor thing! How's the weather been? Hope it's been cooler like they predicted. You are right about the weight gains but they told me they expect 150-200 a week and he only put on 145 in two... just made me stress about my milk. But he seems to be having plenty of wet nappies still so I'm sure he's fine.

150-200G per week after 3 months? I don't think so Jules. I'd say anything over 50-75g per week is probably fine, so long as everything else is looking good (and he looks good:))
There's a difference between weight gains on average for bf and ff babies (with enormous individual variations of course). 0-3 months, bf babies gain faster. 3-6 months, ff babies gain a bit faster. 6-12 months, ff babies gain faster. the official grwoth charts they use are based on teh 'average' aussie baby, a significant proportion of whom are formula fed at least to some extent.

That's the ticket crumpet :) I think a big lesson in parenting is submission and letting go. Hard though!

Jules big hugs to you sounds like you're not having the best day, i'm with you on that one.

I'm so sorry girls i really haven't been joining in properly and i promise it's not because i don't want to be. I'm still doing a lot of cleaning up here. I thought we were over it and Aidan and Charlie had really grose toilet stops today so there goes another lot of disinfecting and washing and showers and yeahh i'm exhausted i don't know how i'm still going.

We have increased Harper's zantac again. She was weighed at the dr's and she was just over 6kg i think. I was shocked as i'm certain that was what she was at the last weigh with the MCHN and at the dr's she was fully clothed with a big nappy on. She obviously lost a bit of weight being sick :o I'm wondering if it is entirely correct though because the dr put the scales on the consultation bed, aren't they supposed to be on a hard flat surface? Do you think this would effect the result? Either way we have the MCHN next week so we'll find out for sure.

Girls you may have seen me request you as freinds again on fb, i was sick of my other one playing up, it kept making me log in over and over, everytime i wanted to post a comment on anything. So i'm hoping the new one will be much better. I was so ready to just get rid of it altogether but there are friends i want to keep in touch with and wouldn't be able to otherwise, my bb friends especially :D

So girls i have been doing my best to read your posts and keep up with what is going on.

Crumpet i feel your frustration and sometimes we let it get the better of us but it doesn't mean we're bad mummas. Sounds like you're a wonderful mumma with a beautiful happy little girl.

MadB how did you go with the iceage? How's your little cat napper?? Harper resettled herself for her morning and afternoon sleep today and then had a 40 one. I was very shocked :o

Hey guys, sorry I've been missing.
DD had some appointments in Melbourne so we went to Rosebud for the weekend beforehand.

Physio, although a little bit behind, they're very happy with her. She's not lifting her head that much, but its not of a concern yet.
Her head is getting better. From being in NICU so long her head was sooo flat on the sides. From using special cushions its gotten heaps better.

Cardiology was good, too. There's still a very small hole in her heart. Nothing to worry about at all. It was 6mm when she was born and its 2mm now and it appears to still be closing over. 10% of the population have a hole exactly the same, and they don't want to see her again.

Audiology was a bit of a shock. Left ear, fine. Right ear, 50% hearing loss :'-(
Thankfully its going to fix itself as its just fluid. They may want to put a grommet in at the end of the year.
So, yet ANOTHER hearing test in a few months time.

Apart from that she's going good. Made it to 4.5kg!! So so excited!

Oooh, Charlotte, great news on the weight gain and physio! Hannah is in good company, Millie has two tiny holes in her heart that will hopefully close over as she grows. I hope the fluid drains out. A friend's little girl had grommets put in and she's absolutely perfect now. Not that you and Hannah will be keen on having more surgeries... but it's good to know that these things can be fixed. You're doing an awesome job :)

EJ sorry to hear that your boys are still unwell. Poor little guys :( I think the soft surface probably would impact on the accuracy of the scales. I haven't had Millie weighed since her 4 month shots... erm, whoops. Might take her to the pharmacy next week and bung her on the scales there.

MadB, agreed on submission and letting go being hard... but it's worth it. Having previously been a total control freak, I'm astounded by how much I have been able to yield to Millie.

Crumpet, Millie started 'swimming' at about 14 weeks. I am taking her to lessons, you can see some of the activities we do here. AT this age it just builds water confidence and the aim is to get them used to rolling from front to back and floating on their back if they fall in. My in-laws have a pool, and I am not the most confident swimmer, so for both our sakes I wanted to start her early. It's a lot of fun, and has the added bonus that she conks out for hours afterwards!

Kaz, I'm so glad your first day went alright and that Will greeted you with a smile. I don't blame you for crying though, I have already warned my head teacher that I'll be totally useless my first day back.

Tuesday was the Day of the Catnaps here. 20 minutes tops. Phew. Yesterday was much better, went outlet shopping with three other mums from my mothers' group, which was fun! Got a few discounted summer clothes in larger sizes for when we go to Germany. Today we had our walk in the park, and she had her first go facing out in the baby bjorn. LOVED it, but clearly didn't want to stop, as she threw a world-class tanty when we stopped for coffee. I tried everything I could think of, but in the end had to skoll my chai and leave. As soon as I started walking, she quieted down, of course, and was babbling away in the car. She slept for a few hours, and then had a hissy fit again part way through her 2pm feed. She was arching her back and throwing herself around, so I put her over my knees and rubbed her back until she let out some massive burps. Great! Much better. Gave her the bottle back thinking she'd take a tiny bit more. She drained it, then, with a massive belch, projectile chucked most of it all over me, all over herself, all over the lounge, all over the floor. Then smiled. I roared with laughter - if you'd told me a year ago I could laugh whilst sitting in a puddle of vomit, I certainly wouldn't have believed it!

On that appetising note, I'm off to serve dinner!
