Littlelalla- Mia is drinking 120ml or so of formula most feeds. But usually about 100ml....shes a little piggy.

Mel how did Maya sleep last night?

We had the best night, Mia only woke once, and was up from 3-4am then went back to sleep til 8am....I feel good today! Today she is a bit grizzly, I think it must be from the needles, poor little thing.

Mmm we are thinking of DTD this weekend too...we dont have any condoms though! and I havent got back on the pill yet...I must do this. Im a bit nervous about DTD again, my body aint what it used to be

littlelalla - Maya is drinking upto 150ml of forumla but normally around 120ml give or take.
Skyeblue - it was bad. She crashed after the needles and then woke up screaming cranky. She was crying so hard so couldn't breathe. We gave her her bottle and if you stopped to burp she would start screaming again! The next week was like that as well but then she settled down except she work up at 2am, 5am, 8am and at the 8am feed didn't go back to sleep until midday. She then slept to around 3pm. Hopefully she will sleep better tonight but its the weekend so sharing feed shifts with DH and he is first tonight! yay

I forgot to ask for the pill when I went to the GP yesterday annoying! Has anyone got there period back yet? I was told since I finished BF it would be along shortly - blah

no period yet, didn't get it til 10 mths last time but i'm b/f so hoping to go that long again.
DH will be goiong out to buy some condoms tho as the last batch ended up in miss elise lol so they went in the bin, i dont like taking the pill while b/f

Mia has been asleep ALL DAY! I put her under he play gym and she falls asleep. She hasnt been awake for more than an hour. Poor thing, the needles must have really mucked her around.

Mel- oh no, poor thing. Did you give her panadol? When did you stop BF? How long did it take for your milk to dry up? I still have a little bit of milk, but it has mostly gone.

My period still hasnt come back though!

Hi All,

Sounds like everyone is enjoying motherhood.

Lily is going really well, unfortunately as we were on holidays with the inlaws and everyone wanted to hold her all of the time she has become dependant on people rocking her to sleep, it got really annoying as i would say that once she is fed she is going in her cot for a sleep, but no one would listen to me. SO now that we are home i am trying to get her back in to her routine of 8 hours of sleep straight, only getting between 5 and 7 hours straight out of her (i know that this is really good still) Last night wasnt too bad though, she went 5 hours then fed for 20mins then slept for another 4.5hours.

Lily is 5 weeks and 2 days old now, how many mls should she be drinking roughly? I am B/F, but just for when i express. She was drinking 90mls, but it doesnt seem to be enough for her, she loves her food.

DTD we are back in to it and have been for about a week or so now, as i didnt have any stitches or anything i have been feeling really good and thought we will give it a shot. Bought the condoms and away we went, haha. We werent really sure if we were meant to as my OB didnt say anything about how long we had to wait and i dont go back and see him until first week of Feb.

Also, with Lily's needles that you are all talking about, what is it for? When are they meant to have the needles (how many weeks old?) Our pedit. appointment is first week of Feb too, will she be getting it then?

Skyeblue - she didn't seem to be hot. The GP said only to give it to her if she had a 38c temp...Maybe I should of given it to her anyway. I think I stopped BF at...around 4 weeks or so. My BM never came in enough to feed her for the full 24hrs and had to top with forumla anyway. I was feeding for over 2hrs and she always wanted more so went meh and changed over to the forumla. Much easier imo cause DH can feed as well. It took ages for the milk to go away...at least 3 weeks. I didnt want to DTD until my milk had stopped leaking as well.

Anthea22 - its the 2month needles we are talking about. There should be something in your blue book about it. You go to the GP to get them done. There are 2 needles and some drops which go in the mouth. I hear you on the rocking to sleep. My parents do it all the time when they mind her. I did read that it doesn't really effect them until they are 1 and they just enjoy the warmth and cuddles now. Maybe the cot is to cold when she goes down and she wakes up again?

Thanks Mel, i will have to have a look at my blue book. I am not looking forward to getting her needles, i hated seeing her go through the heel test, she was so upset. Guessing its goi ng to be the same with theses needles too??

She was actually sleeping in a bassinette, but you may be right. I just wish they would actually listen, got to the point where it felt like they were trying to take over. So glad to be home now though

Anthea wow Lily is sleeping great!! You are really lucky!! Sounds like you are doing really well, Lily is gorgeous.

Mel- everyone I talk to is always banging on about BF...I was feeling really down about it!! Nice to talk to someone else who is FF.

What time does everyone put bubs to bed for the night? I aim for 7.30/ 8 but it rarely happens! haha.

Skyeblue, if the BF doesnt work for you i wouldnt stress about it. Its not life or death situation. You just do what is best for you and what suits you.

The problem i am having is getting Lily to bed early. She must still be confused between day and night, she isnt going to sleep until between 11pm and 12 midnight!!!!

Skyeblue - yeah I feel really guilty because I don't. I felt like a bad mum because my milk didnt come in enough. I never had that hurt boob full of milk thing. But I have made my peace with it. She got 4weeks of boobie goodness and that was the best I could do. FF makes life easier, although I am over cleaning all the bottles and boiling up the water! lol

re bed time - she is normally asleep by 8pm but then I wake her at 10pm for a feed in the hope she sleeps through the night. It was working until recently but I think with the needles and the heat she has been screwed up a bit. Fingers crosses it works tonight!

Also was wondering how you are pronouncing 'Mia' - is it 'my-a' or like 'me-a'. Maya is pronounced 'My-a'

Anthea - watching Maya getting the needles was so hard. I cried more then her in the end She cried so hard but its a good cry as the GP said. It will make her big and strong. Still I will make DH do the next lot

Mel- Oh I wouldnt have guessed you pronounced Maya "Mya"! I love it. Mia is just "Me a"

Im happy because today when I put Mia in her basinnett for a sleep she has settled herself. Tonight I put her in there at 8, and she made noises until 9pm, then fell asleep. Is anyone else leaving bubs to settle on their own? And in their own room or out in a main room?
I moved Mia into the main room for a change today because my Mum babysat for an hour, and she seemed to love it out here, she settled really well.

Anthea - A few nights ago Mia wasnt going to bed til 11 or 12, then she started going earlier, I think they all go through stages. One night she went to sleep at 1am, and the next night 7pm! So different.

skye - o is not too bad at self-settling. i am putting him to bed awake more and more (no more wrapping) because i want him to learn to fall asleep by himself. i never let him cry though. he sleeps on his tummy so i give his back a pat for a bit and leave him (in our room) with his eyes still opening and closely slowly and generally he goes off to sleep by himself. i have to put him in his cot for sleeps now as i dont trust my DS 2. i know our DS 2 wouldn't intentionally hurt him but he puts his fingers in his mouth and sometimes forgets he can't touch his head etc so for peace of mind he sleeps away from all the action now. i've noticed o is starting to form a semi routine - 2 hour sleep after his first morning feed around 8ish and a couple more during the day. bedtime is also quite random. he is much harder to settle at night before his first night sleep.

mel - wow i also didn't know that was how u pronouned maya's name. my god daughter is maia which is pronounced the same i got my period back when my ds's were about 10 months old. but my sil got hers at 3 months and was still BF so it's different for everyone.

l80 - oh u have just reminded me to check the condom packet wont be much fun tonight if we dont have any!!!!

anthea - lily is sleeping like a dream!! lucky you!! after ochre was born i was given a heap of info along with my blue book and a immunisations book which outlines the immunisation program - what they are given and at what ages etc. did you get that? i do delayed immunisations so ochre wont be getting any needles for awhile yet.

skye - my dh and made an informed decision to delay immunisation til they are a bit older. we did a lot of reading and research on it all and decided that's what we wanted to do.

mel - I am fully bf aimee and I had my 1st period 2 weeks ago, same happened with dd1 I wish I was one of those lucky peopel who deosn't get AF while bf

Littlelala - I try to put aimee down awake but she needs to be upright after a feed for a while and normally nods off before I put her down. I have stopped wrapping her during the day too. The fingers in the mouth thing must be a favourite at the moment because as I was getting JAsmine her drink at my sisters she went over to the pram and was saying 'ohh Aimee' then shoved a finger down aimee's throat. I felt awful for not protecting Aimee and then Jasmine was in tears for hurting her and because she was told off, laught a minute

has anyone one heard from mum in training? I hope lucus is doing ok after his surgery.

skye - my dh and made an informed decision to delay immunisation til they are a bit older. we did a lot of reading and research on it all and decided that's what we wanted to do.

yep, us too hun. Matisse wont have anything till at least 2 years of age, if anything (we''d review again when we get there) - there is heaps of info out there in relation to vaccines, try avn dot org dot au for a great starting point.....

Hi Ladies!

Sounds like everyone is doing well. I'm so impressed with all your bubs that self settle! Unfortunately Belle needs to be rocked to sleep which is doing my back in and can sometimes take half an hour and she often will wake up again shortly after we put her down. I think I'll have to start trying to make her self settle. It'll be a tough road I think!

Just out of curiosity - how long are your bubs awake between feeds? Belle is usually only awake an hour - hour and a half before she's getting cranky and needs a sleep.

On the period thing - I hope mine stays away for a while as I'm still bleeding - it's been 4 weeks now! I'm keen to dtd but want to wait until the bleeding stops. When did everyone elses finish?

Sara - yeah the older siblings don't quite understand just yet what they can and can't do around babies...i guess patience and rewarding the good behaviour is all we can do. i checked the babies born nov 15th etc thread where mit usually posts and her last one was on the 30th of Dec. Lucus was back in hospital having a hernia fixed. She said he seems to be doing really well and is now enjoying big feeds every 4 hours.

kitt3n - that's a good one and you've probably seen it already but another good article on the immunisations and why parents don't do it is on here. if anyone is interested you just click on "baby articles" right at the top of this page and the second article is titled "10 reasons why parents choose not to vaccinate".

claire - yeah ochre would be the same - roughly an hour or under. i'm finding he just doesn't like to be on his own much. he gets upset if i leave him in his rocker or under his gym for too long...a few minutes at most depending on if he's just fed or not. he must be a bit spoilt hehe as all he wants to do when he's awake is be on someone's chest! but i love all the cuddling and am making the most of it as i'm pretty sure ochre will be our last baby it's just really hard when i can't put him down and i need to do other things - especially with 2 other children to care for. so i usually get my butterfly beco carrier out and pop him in and try and get my jobs done like that. oh, i had a c-section and my bleeding stopped at 3 weeks.
