Claire- Have you tried putting Belle down in her cot/ basinett and leave her for a while, wait til she grizzles for a while, she will tire herself out. When she starts really crying pick her up and rock her. I do that with Mia and she falls asleep quickly.
Mia is awake for about 1- 1.5 hour aswell between feeds. I tell you what though, every night she is up for 2-3 hours between 2am and 5am...its seriously doing my head in!!! Is it normal?? She just wont sleep! And then by the time she sleeps, I cant!!
My bleeding went for 4 weeks, and hasnt come back yet.
When do all you ladies DTD??? We went to do it this morning and the minute we ahem, started, Mia woke up. Then I got her back to sleep, tried again and she woke AGAIN!! Grrr. So we still havent done it!! Very frustrating.
skye - yeah what is it with that??!! im finding now that ochre has been sleeping from 11 to 4 am its very hard to get him back to sleep and its usually way past 5 am before he does!!! he gets so much wind at that time too - is anyone elses babies experiencing this??? the dtd wasn't that successful last night not to go into too much detail but i felt like it was my first time again!!! i suppose it has been some months!! ochre woke too so i quickly fed him and we went back to sleep. i had to put a pillow up against his cot though - lol - kinda freaked me out with him laying right next to us haha!! xx
I had a c-section and bleed for about 3 weeks. Still waiting for the period to come back - I imagine any day now!
I have started putting Maya down when she is away -it works sometimes. Mostly she then gets the hiccups and I have to pick her up to stop them as they seem to hurt her. If she isn't crying I will try and leave her alone. She seems to take great joy in wiggling out of her wrap and sheets though
If I put Belle down when she is awake she just starts screaming instantly. There's no grissles or little cries to start with - just full blown screams. Thats why we constantly rock her to sleep, but maybe I have to harden up -it's so hard though!
oh no claire- i wouldnt leave Belle to scream hysterically, shes just a tiny baby! I think at 3 months you can be a bit tougher. Do you leave her to have play time on her own? I.e on her play mat?
littlelalla- sorry dtd wasnt successful. We just havent been able to, Mia keeps waking up. Im hoping tonight!
Mel- Mia gets hiccups if I put her down too soon after her feed...or if she starts fidgeting and moving around she gets them too....
Mia is sooo over tired today. She pretty much didnt sleep AT ALL today and now she is crying and wont go to sleep. Im exhausted, i dont want another night like last night. I think a couple of wines are in order!!
skye is your dh at home? get him to take mia and have a hot shower and 1/2hr break from it all. Turn the radio up so you cant hear her. If you get to relax a bit it might help mia settle. If im stressed aimee gets worse and worse. I hope she is asleep for you now. Have you tried another bath, sometimes that works. I use my sling to settle aimee sometimes that works
it might be a reaction to the vaccinations have you tried baby panadol. DD1 would be unsettled from 24hrs post vaccinations for 2-3 days, panadol helped a bit
hun, it is so stressful and frustrating when they have days like that, just think tomorrow is a new day and know you are being the best mum you can
Thanks Sara, your post made me teary again. She is with DH in the baby Bjorn and not crying, but still wide awake. Im wondering if she will ever sleep, shes been awake for hours and hours!
I rang my mum and she told me to just relax and go with it, and even if I am up all night, it wont last forever....which is true! Thanks again, I appreciate it....
your welcome skye, mums are the best aren't they, I often call mum just for reaussurance that I am doing the right thing it helps me a lot. I hope she falls asleep soon for you
skye hon i hope mia settles for you soon. it's a vicious cycle when babies don't sleep - they get over tired and that makes it harder to get them to sleep! sararose had some great advice - take a break, de-stress and go from there. it's hard to know what their problem is if you've covered all the bases and got her comfortable with a clean nappy on and a full tummy. and the crying can be heartbreaking when you have no idea what is causing it. really hope you get some rest hon and mia finally zonks it xx

My DD has her cranky pants on at the moment too, DH is trying to calm her down, i think she is a bit windy.
Not like I am in bed before midnight anyways lol she should hopefully calm down before then.
Claire- Elise will cry too as soon as I put her down through the day, she is fine when I am cuddling her but will wake within 5-10 mins of me putting her down and scream until I cuddle her then she will go straight back to sleep. They will grow out of it and change pattern so don't stress it won't last forver, enjoy your cuddles cause soon they will be up and walking and it will be Mum who? Not to mention the back chat when they get a little older again.
ELise gets the hiccups alot and boy does she hate them, makes her so grumpy and she won't take a dummy, which is annoying cause I know sucking on something will make them go away, but if I give her any more boob she will just chuck cause she has had way too much by then.

skye oh you poor thing, it is just part of it though, sometimes matisse will scream (and deafen me) and it feels like it will never stop - but usually this is because of wind (made worse by the thrush, which is clearing up now). have you tried having a bath with her? matisse loves this, i just hold her head and her fat little body floats in the water, makes her so content and relaxed
claire - oh no dont harden her up! lol, enjoy every cuddle while you can, cuddle her and have a nap too

how is everyone else going with the "in vogue" ailment of the season? (ie thrush on the tongue!)... my nipples are fine, most likely thanks to all of you for suggesting i put the drops there too! i have ordered some fast track and will be using that too (had in liven previously, awesome stuff i highly recommend, got rid of my lady thrush and its never been back)
matisse has "nearly" slept through the night a couple of times now, just some dreamish feeds in bed and no need for nappy change loving my cloth nappies too!

kitt3n - glad the thrush is clearing up, we are almost on top of it but ill keep treating her for a bit longer just to be sure. Glad she is sleeping so well for you
clair- Aimee screams when she has the hiccups, well she tries to scream between hiccups she just hates it so much
ll80- aimee absolutely refuses a dummy too, spits it every time and I have tried different ones. We didn't give dd1 a dummy but she became a thumb sucker by 6 weeks so we wanted to avoid this, so far aimee hasn't sucked her thumb though
we had another night of sleeping through til 5 I am so happy, aimee is that bit older than most of the babies in this group so hopefully everyones bubs will settle into some kind of sleep pattern in the next few weeks. We thought Aimee might not sleep through til a lot older as she was really unsettled at first but touch wood we have had a really good week.
Photographer coming today, will be interesting to see if we can get Jasmine in any photos as her favourite word is no at the moment and if we can get any of amiee awake and smiling. Will let you know how we go. jasmine has a party thus arvo at a play cafe so Im sure she will enjoy it and I will come home with a headache lol
Had a good night in the end! Went to sleep at 11.30pm and woke at 4 for a feed, then straight back to sleep and woke at 9.15am...hooray! She better not play that game again tonight though. Seems to have an upset tummy this morning.
We actually DTD last night for the first time....it was great, good to get back into it again, lol. But I still havent got my script for the pill so we did the WM....I know it isnt a good method, but DH is pretty good at it...lol.

Kitten the bath sounds lovely, I will have to try that, as long as DH is around to help get her out etc.

I am starting to get used to the lack of sleep I think cause I havent been feeling too bad the last few days even though I haven't really had more then 3 hours sleep in a row in a month.
ELise is sleeping the day away today just waking up to feed and get her nappy changed, I am getting lots of things done around the house which I havent been able to do all week as she is staying alseep after I put her down. Noice!!
YAY for the DTD, I still just cant be bothered lol.

photos done! jasmine was a PITA as i expected and the photographer was here 4hrs instead of 2 but it looks like she got some good ones, in about 2 weeks after she edits them she will put them on her website so we can choose what we want. Ill post a link when they are done. We couldnt get any of the 2 girls together as one or the other kept crying but we got some good family shots and some great individual ones of the girls. I am exhausted after 4hrs of bribing, entertaining and coercing jasmine in was hard work lol. In the end Jasmine was 'putting money in the camera' to make it work, she would put a coin on the top of the camera and kirsty would slip it into her hand, jasmine thought this was great and behaved for the family shots. Kirsty was great with her.
sararose- it's bloody hard work photographing kids!! i was knackered after ours too and the boys weren't too bad. we only paid $45 for ours as she wasn't a full pro - just someone who takes good photos for some extra cash - we had lots of blurry pics but i guess she took heaps so we had a lot to choose from. i'd love to get full prof ones done like u did tho.
ll80 - couple of 4 hour blocks is great hon! o was doing a 4 hour block but has gone back to 3 hourly for the last few nights...grr! i totally think that wonder week stuff is true - he's been so grumpy this past week.

kitt3n - oh good girl matisse!! you must feel so good on all that caught up sleep! o loves his bath as well. we bought this thing that u sit in the bath and they lay on it - best buy ever - does your back wonders to not have to lean over and support bubs. ochre loves it - he just lays on it and kicks away.
well i must scoot - got a million things to do today. we are having people over for tea - our first dinner party since o was born. hubby is at work all day so it's all up to me to get things organised. hope the boys behave today!!!!! xx
