Babies Born December 1st ~ 15th 2008

Hi everyone

The lovely AF decided to visit me today...yay! not. I for the life of me couldnt find any tampons....I remember them lying around everywhere before...but of course now I cant find ANY!

Littlelalla- thats what Im hoping will happen to me! Might become a bit more confident down the line...

Dianna- Sorry to hear that Zahlia's most unsettled time is at 4am- doh! Mia is still doing her naughty tricks...wakes at around 3 then WONT go back to sleep!!
Last night I put her back down at 4 but she just screamed, so i got DH to get up and help. His solution?? Bring her into bed with us!! I was so mad, i dont want her getting into that habit....but guess what? From 4-8am we all had the most blissful sleep and it was sooo nice to wake up all as a family!! I still dont like co sleeping though for some reason....even if I do admit it is reallllllyyyyy nice to snuggle together. I just hear horror stories of kids still in with their parents at 3 and the parents struggling to get them into their own beds!

Sorry for the waffle on. lol.

Dianna thats great about daycare, sounds like your DS will benefit as well as you and Zahlia. I bet he just loves it!

Hope all your weekends are going well! Well I don't know what Ochre is going through atm but the sleeping is getting worse not better. Last several nights he's been wanting boob every 2.5 to 3 hours. Last night for example he slept from 8 to 12 (great but not when i didnt get to bed til after that 12 feed) then woke at 2.45 had a feed - didn't settle til 4 then was up again at 6.30 for a feed - back to sleep at 7ish and up again at 9 for a feed. I know he's getting plenty of milk as he almost empties both boobs and they are pretty full atm. Could it be another growth spurt?? Do they have them at 8 weeks?? I've tried getting him back to sleep for a bit longer with his dummy but he just spits it out and continues to cry. I will just have to roll with it for now and hope he gets back to doing more reasonable sleep blocks. Also, does anyones babies smile and coo and laugh at things that aren't even there?? Ochre does it a lot when he's looking at something to the sides of us...what do they see i wonder!?!?! :think: And one more thing - O has been pooing every second or third day - and when he does it's HUGE. Everytime he does one i have to get to the change table quick smart or before it starts oozing out of his nappy! Its like caramel custard!!

Dianna - o is a major grunter and we used to lay in bed listening to it all night when he used to sleep on his back and since putting him to sleep on his belly he no longer grunts! yeah my Dh has certainly passed on his 'light sleeping' gene to the boys. arrgh!!

skye - oh bummer about the AF! i hear u on the co - sleeping but for me at the moment it's the only way to get slightly more hours of sleep in the night. he just seems to settle quicker in bed than in his cot - cheeky hehe!!

Littlelalla- as you know I had a shocker last week with Mia....and she was 8 weeks! I reckon its something they go through.I think you do just have to go with it, and I bet he improves in a couple of days!
For the last few days though Mia has been a dream baby! I hope it lasts!
Last night she was asleep at about 6, woke for a feed at 9.30pm, back asleep at 10.30- slept til 5am!! Then she came into bed with us, and we slept til 8am, feed, then back to sleep til 11.30am! Nice.

Thats weird that O is looking at something that isnt even there....hmmm do you have ghosts in your house?? Just kidding! Sorry lol. I just think they see things like reflections and shadows maybe.

Speaking of poos, I hearyou on that also. Mia just did a disgusting one, went absolutely everywhere, needed DHs help to clean it! She wore herself out doing it though, shes back asleep now lol.

Went to the wedding on saturday and it was lovely. Aimee was so good at the gardens before the ceremony but just as the bride arrived she started crying so Tony took her for a little walk so I could watch the ceremony without distubing everyone. She decided to have crazy night of feeding every 1/2hr from 6-11pm which was tricky but we still had a great time.

Littlelala- lol on ochre looking at something that is not there dd1 did that all the time tony half jokingly reckoned she was seeing his nana who had passed away
Diana- goodluck with sleep school, I am so happy I kept Jasmine in cc as I get a day to play with Aimee and get things done including the shopping and Jasmine loves the company and change of scenery at cc
Skye - glad mia has been sleeping well for you, I think you can handle anything if you have a decent nights sleep
we are also changing to a poo every 2nd day and it is explosive lol. I have started the couch to 5k challenge and my legs are a bit sore today but I was so happy I did it as I have never really run in mu life, just going to be tricky to fit it in and spend time as a family

sararose - funny you should mention that about dh's nana - a psychic friend came to see us the day ochre was born and she said my poppa who passed away when i was 6 months pregnant was in the hospital room with us!! wow on the running!! u go girl!! hope you had a lovely birthday :)

skye - we had much better night last night so maybe u were right! he slept from 9 to 1 then 2 to 6. i just have to get myself to bed early too!

i'm back on antibiotics again :cry:. i tried so hard to kick this mastitis without resorting to them but the soreness just wont go away and i dont want to take any chances especially since i felt so horrible with aches and chills the other day. it's really bummed me out since i only finished the last lot merely 2 weeks ago. on a happier note lil ochre is self settling at every nap now :dance:. he actually gets grumpy if he's tired and we don't put him in his cot!! i pointed this out to dh today when he was whinging on his lap and so he popped in his cot and he made little satisfied grunts and fell promptly to sleep...what a gem!!! xx

I think Elise is on her way as well with the self settling, it's so nice when she does, other times she is a velcro baby, won't let me put her down.

Well my naked rain dance kept the IL's away for a couple days with road closures due to rain, but they are here now. Not as bad as i though it would be but it's only day 2. The BEST news however is that MIL is NOT coming down *does a happy dance*

Elise has the worst heat rash at the moment, I'm not sure what to do about it, I don't think there is much I can do in this weather, her face neck and upper chest is all red and pimply. I don't think it's bothering her too much, she is pretty much living in singlets and nappies to get as much air flow as possible and not get too hot, and bathing when it's really sticky.
I don't think there is much use putting creams and such on there as it flares up again as soon as it gets hot.

I am still trying to flog off my princess Abby, school starts on Tuesday YAY!!! brought her uniform today and am now broke lol, she also needed to get glasses as it turns out she is long sighted, lucky I decided to check her eyes before she started school, she's been pestering me all week about them, she finally gets them has them on an hour now she is pestering me to let her take them off for the rest of the day, bloody kids. Cost a small fortune so I hope they last, I'll make her wear them even if it kills me ;)

Sara- glad you had a great time at the wedding, sounds lovely. Glad Aimee was a good girl. Thats good Tony took her out, there was a baby crying at our wedding while we were saying our vows, I was annoyed when I watched the dvd.

littlelala- glad you had a good night, how was last night? Sorry to hear you have mastitis again :( how awful, I hope it isnt too sore for you. How is the chicken pox going? All healed? Go Ochre with the self settling! I wish!!



ll80- sounds like heat rash, as you said I dont think you can do much about it. Poor little thing. Yay for Abby starting school!

As for me, Mia is currently in her bassinett whinging, she wont self settle, but Im sick of rocking her to sleep every time. So Im going in and just patting her now, then leaving. Ah, better go, shes screaming now.

laura you poor thing I hope this is the last lot of mastitis for you, i wouldn't wish it on anyone. Sounds like o is doing well

ll80 glad you managed to keep your inlaws at bay, hope the glasses are child proof, they are so expensive

skye - hope mia settled for you, she hust wants her mummy (mummy probably wants a break lol)

Aimee self settles 50% of the time and I like the cuddles the other 50% lol. 2 weeks of sleeping 10pm til 5am or later with only one night wher she woke inbetween :D. and a 3 1/2hr day nap between 11-2:30 I think we are getting a routine, I thought it would take longer. ll80 - yaay school!! hehe DS1 is back next week too. he really needs the stimulation - it's been hard to do anything these holidays so the sooner he goes back the better off he will be!

sararose - OMG those pics are absolutely GORGEOUS!!! makes me want to fly to Adelaide right now and get some done :) We are heading over in March - maybe I'll should book it in. Do you get all those pics hon? Or do you choose your faves?

Skye - the pox is all gone thank god! Ochre has one little red spot on his face - u can see it on his latest pics on facebook - but the redness is already fading. ;)

We are having a terrible time with this second bout of mastitis. the antis are giving O soo much wind so we've gone from great 4 hour block sleeps in the night to 2.5 because it's waking him up. And then he thinks he needs booby so he is only having little snacks and my boobs are very engorged. it's such a vicious cycle....he gets so upset in the middle of the feed because of painful wind and then pulls off and wont get back on again so i'm left with so much milk still. arghh!! the guilt to keep feeding is huge as well as i fed the other boys for so long and put up with it. i guess sleep deprivation and 2 other children to care for are making things harder this time round. :(

oh lil l - you poor thing, its hard enough to take care of the little ones as it is, let alone when you are not well yourself, giving cuddles must really hurt?

sararaose - i cant figure out how to look at your pics, where do you click?

skye - have you considered a sling at all? I ahve matisse in her hug a bub when she wants cuddles and i need to get stuff done, other than that she happily drifts off wherever she is (during the day, evening is a different story!!) she sleeps on the lounge, in her cot, on our bed, in her bassinette... but if cuddles are wanted, there is no escape (and i love it!). today i vacuumed, mopped, dusted and ceaned the glass, all while she was happily in her sling, she fell asleep whil i vacuumed (must have been the ocking back and forward)

ll80 - woot woot on the inlaws! mine are driving me nuts :o try some moo goo on the rash, gets rid of it on matisse

as for us - i didnt have the proper 1-4 week check - my midwife just did it at home. So we are going to make plans to see the nurse soon, oh i miss my midwife!

breastfeeding is going great - sleeping is great - our only troubles are the "witching hour" as i have been told its called. lil m just doenst settle between 7-10 (is) pm, the only time daddy gets with her. during the day - OH! you should see the smiles, its amazing!

finally her little belly button is almost healed **phew** i tought that would never happen

still has the thrush in her mouth - much mch less than the beginning but its still there, i doubt we will get rid of it until summer is over.

better get my butt into gear and load some pics on FB.....

littlelalla- sorry to hear about the mastitis,and Ochres sore tummy. Do what is best for you, putting Mia on Formula was the best for us, and its working really well. ;)

Last night she was up twice which is usual for her,she usually only wakes once. But then she had a good morning sleep so i got stuff done. I feel like things are settling down here now thankfully...until teething starts..lol

just popping in quickly. hope u all have a great long weekend. it's Tunarama time here in Lincoln and i'm taking the kids to the street parade at lunch. my second ds had gastro yesterday so fingers crossed noone else in our family comes down with it. we saw some light at the end of the tunnel last night with a fantastic sleep from Ochre - his best yet! He went from 8 to 7am with a feed at 2am. he's never done a 6 hour block before so i was pretty excited! i gave him 2 doses of brauers colic relief half hour apart and i think that made a world of difference. he went back to sleep at 7.30 and is still asleep now :D

kitt3n - it has been hard to burp or walk around with him against my boobs - but they are feeling much better now though. aren't the moogoo products great! i use the shampoo, udder cream and milk wash on all my boys. i've noticed that ochre hasn't developed any cradle cap yet whereas the other boys had it bad.

skye - i think i'll reassess the situation if i get another bout straight away cos i just cant keep feeding me and him antibiotics. just curious - what formula and bottles do you use?

LL - so glad that mastitis has settled down a bit - this is a major part of the reason why I had to stop BF - I copped it 3 times in 6 weeks and 3 lots of AB's - we're now fulltime FF - we use Novalac but I would highly recommend NAN HA Gold - this is a little to strong for DD tummy for the moment - but I think we'll move her back to it in a couple of weeks - I used it on DS and never looked back - it's the highest recommended formula around - there is also another one called "Bellamy's Organic" - or something along those lines - its an organic formula and you can pick it up in Woolies - well here in Sydney you can - we use Tommee Tippee closer to Nature bottles and they are great - meant to reduce colic and have the same feel as a nipple - apparently - Z loves them - I actually went out and bought another 2 bottles yesterday - either way goodluck - don't have guilt I know what it's like to have other children (including husbands) to look after - maybe you could look at expressing and doing a few bottle feeds - this was DH can help....might be worth the effort and give your boobs a chance to recover

Otherwise all is OK here - I'm having some issues with Anxiety atm and just been up to the health food store to get a stack of vitamins - I'm taking a herbal anti-depressant - I;ve had this before and had great success - when I have a panic attack it effects my eyes so I'm hoping that I can get some relief - I just feel like I'm walking around with a fuzzy head and can't think straight and my eyes are all blurry and distorted and my patience is zero - especially with DS - I'm praying and hoping I can get on top of it all - I'm just buggered - I don't actually feel depressed though just can't seem to focus on anything - anyone else feel like this?? I think its the hormones leaving my system - i got AF back with a venegance this week so feel blah and the heat isn't helping either - OK enough whining.

Off to sleep school on Friday - I kind of feel like not going as we have actually overcome some of the sleep issues but I don't want to tempt fate and have issues next week - iykwim - oh well may as well go - its not costing me anything it's run through the hospital.

Hey Skye - does your hospital do anything like this?? I know you've been having some sleep issues with Mia - I went with BJ when he was 10 weeks old and got a heap of pointers that were really useful - maybe you Clinic nurse can help you - just a thought....

Hi dianna I don't mind, it is reasonably expensive but we put some of the baby bonus aside for the photos. the photo session cost $250 and 100 of that is credit towards photos, we are getting 11 of the photos for $595 :shhh: so in total bout $750. She was at the house for over 4hrs. We got them done with Jasmine too and I am so glad we did but it is pretty hefty costwise.

My mum and dad will probably buy 1 or 2 each and we will scan them and swap them around (not very legal but I figure we are paying a decent price lol)

Dianna hope the vitamins help with the anxiety, I get exhausted too sometimes and poor jasmine cops it, sleep does help I hope you get some soon

Girls with reccurent mastitis I can understand giving up bf, if I got it again I would seriously consider giving it up, it can be so debilatating

We had a great night last night, Mia only woke once, for 20 mins! She slept from about 9pm- 7.30am. Must have been a fluke though, not expecting it to happen again tonight. I did get a decent sleep, so why am I so damn tired now?? Maybe its all catching up with me.
We went on a picnic today and lasted about 10 mins...Mia HATED the wind and the sun, poor little thing so we just left.

Sara- wow expensive! But oh so worth it I reckon!

Dianna- sometimes I feel like that too and my vision does the same thing for some reason! And I start to panic. But for me it doesnt last long...I think it has something to do with hormones and lack of sleep! What are the vitamins that help?

Littlelalla- Im with Dianna- Mia is on Nan gold. Never had any issues with them, Mia had a bit of gas when she first went on it, but now shes fine. Bottles, we use avent, and we also have Tommy Tipee, but I dont like those. The teat is too soft and it keeps folding over and leaking everywhere....I love avent....:)
