Babies Born December 1st ~ 15th 2008

Sararose - the pics aren't cheap but I have to kind of think that it is money well spent - they're only this little for such a short period of time - for me I'm very tempted especially given that Z will be my last baby - my family is Complete - I don't think I could manage another pregnancy and we only ever wanted 2 kids regardless of sex - so I think having a keep sake like this would be amazing - having said that I've taken some pretty good pics lately - the random 1 or 2 that have been a fluke -and it's amazing what a B&W pic can do - but no where near as gorgeous as your pics though.

Skye - I take this stuff called SAME for the anxiety along with a B Executive and Rescue Remedy for when I have a moment of despair - my panic attacks don't last long either but just enough to make me take a step back - iykwim - kind of have to take a deep breath in - i hate that stomach dropping feeling - I've also heard that Omega 3 is meant to do wonders - but I'm going to start on these and see how I go - I'm not too good with Fish Oil but will take it if I have too - my mum has no problems with it though - I think its just a matter of finding the right one - plus I hear you on the constant tiredness - its just like I can't catch up even with a full nights sleep I feel all out of whack

I have now tried to write a hello about 3 times - each time I have lost my entry (PC crashed, forums crashed or firefox crashed) so here I try again!

How about this bloody heat! I was almost in tears yesterday with it after putting up with it all week. I would murder for air con about now!

Maya is doing ok with sleeps. She normally gets to sleep around 10.30 and sleeps till at least 5.30. Lately in the mornings she has been only sleeping in 2 hours stretch which kills me as I am trying to sleep but the last 2 days she has slept till 6.30 and then 10am which is great (although it may be because DH is home and she wants to behave for him!)

Maya has started smiling and coo-ing alot now which warms my heart. She loves getting her nappy change and often talks to me while it happens. She gave me a big smile yesterday as she woke from her nap :) Its also very cool hearing her goo and coo in her cot in the morning. Makes a nice change from the crying.

She also rolled over in her cot the other day! I placed her on her tummy whilst I got her bottle ready and when I came back she was on her back resting on the bars of the cot. Might of been a one off since she hasn't done it since. She had such a look of shock on her face hehe

Maya is on Nan gold. It was what the hospital gave her. She seems to like it. We are also using Tommie Tippee bottles as I like the anti-colic and boob like teat. Although I do agree its a very soft teat and can be a bugger to get it in her mouth sometimes. My parents have such an issue using them as they don't check she has latched on correctly and Maya ends up getting a massive milk beard lol

Still waiting on AF - I actually wish I would get it soon so I can get back on the pill. Makes me nervous using condoms.

Sararose - I love those photos! Money well spent imo. They certainly get you with the additional cost of each print tho. I would love to get something done similar but might wait until Maya is more smiley.

DiannaQ and Skye I hope the panic attacks ease up for you both. Dianna I really don't know how you do it with a toddler and a baby - one baby is hard enough for me! Hope the vitamins help.

Mel - I can't believe Maya rolled! What a shame you missed it but I'm sure she'll do it again.

Littlelalla I hope ochre is sleeping better for you hun. Also hope your mastitis clears up for you once and for all. You poor thing, I keep praying it doesn't happen to me.

ll80 - hooray on Elise self settling - I really have to start making an effort to get Belle to self settle soon or it may be too late!

Kitt3n - Belle and I now have thrush too! It sounds like everyone has had a bout now. I'm hoping it clears soon - we're using Daktarin gel.

Well Belle seems to be a bit more settled (touch wood!). The Losec never did anything so I gave that the flick a couple of days ago. I actually think she was pulling off screaming due to my fast flow rather than reflux. I now express a little before each feed, but my milk flows so fast even when my boob is almost empty! I've tried leaning back but she hates that position. Any advice you BF mum's can give?

Also Belle's developed a bit of a flat head. We alway put her down with her head to the side but she's always moved it back from day one. We give her plenty of tummy time when she's awake but I don't know what else we can do. Has anyone's else bubs got a bit of a flat head? Will they round out again? I'm thinking maybe I should move her out of her amby hammock and into her cot which might make her keep her head to the side more. It's a shame though as she really loves the hammock.

Anthea - when u do decide to pop her in the cot maybe consider a great little pillow that babies sleep on called 'Love Nest Pillow' (i saw it on sale online at Infant Boutique) which stops the flat head from occuring. Ochre is a belly sleeper so we don't have to worry about that. with your fast flow does it just happen at the beginning or all the way through? maybe get belle to latch on and suck enough to start the let down then take her off and hold a breast pad or tissue to the breast to catch a little of the milk that comes out really quickly at first then re-attach her once the fast flow has settled down. have u tried getting her to feed while she is sitting up or laying down a bit and laying her down on your breast?

Hello - anyone out there? I think this is the quiet we have been in a long time!

Maya is doing good. I think she had a growth spurt because she was a real bugger for a few days there. She seems to get very tired at night and just screams and screams which is hard to take. We went to my nan's funeral yesterday and she was pretty good though I think she got over stimulated as was hysterically crying in the car on the way home and when we stopped to feed her. It took her about 15mins of me calming her down before she would drink. Poor little thing.

re belly sleepers - I thought you shouldn't put your baby on their tummy/sides in case of SIDS etc?

Claire_A - Is it flat on one side or at the back? If its the side we were told to change her position in the cot to the other end every now and then as the baby tends to keep their heard towards the door so swapping cot ends makes them move their head around. If its a flat spot at the back of the head...no idea. We bought that love nest pillow but haven't used it yet.

PS Oh I forgot to ask if anyone was going to start swimming lessons when their little ones hit 3 months?

mel - yeah it has gone quiet hasn't it! - everyone is too hot to type!! OMG to the rolling!!! has she done it again? re belly sleeping - i have a belly sleeper and believe me if i could change that i would but he HATES sleeping on his back. i was reading a post on here that 1/10 babies prefer to sleep on their bellies and it's usually the ones with really strong necks. makes sense as Ochre has had a very strong neck since day one. he just sleeps so much better on his belly and so for my own sanity I let him sleep that way. ochre is going thru yet another growth spurt too...i think he's on permanent growth spurts!! i've just enrolled DS 2 into swimming lessons so it's all a bit too much for me to do them with Ochre but my DH is a qualified swimming instructor so he can take him for a dip in the pool soon :D

Claire - so sorry hon i just realised i put Anthea's name down on my last post and it was meant for you!!! silly mumnesia brain!! how's the flow going?

skye - did Mia repeat that awesome sleep for u? we had a shocker last night with my youngest two up all thru the night. must be this hideous heat wave we are having. :redface:

Looks like I havent missed too much!!
Had a bit of a disaster in the office, the previous owners decided it was okay to attach a wall cupboard with only 4 small screws, there are 4 overhead cupboards on the wall next to where I sit, often times with Elise on my chest while on the computer.
Needless to say sometime over a night or two ago the whole thing fell down, just missing my computer on to where I sit and smashing the poor printer.
Thank god it didn't happen during the day and that BIL is here and a cabinet maker so he was able to fix it properly with the proper screws.

Study looks like a bomb has hit it though, more so than normal hehehe.

Elise is going well, sleeping well :)porking up nicely.
She has started getting into somesort of a routine. She will sleep somewhere around 11pm til 5 or 6 am then have a feed and sleep most of the morning anywhere from when she wakes in the morning til around 10am- midday. She will then be awake most of the rest of the day, cat napping here and there feeding every 2 hours to make up for her big naps.
I am pretty happy with that routine, allows me to get to bed at a semi decent hour and I can get what I need to done in the morning then sit with her feeding through the afternoon.
I can get Abby off to school in the morning with no hassles as well.

Claire have you tried pressing on your breast a bit to stop the flow, that;s what I have been doing as I have a fast flow as well, but don't press the same spot the next feed to allow those ducts to clear.
Not sure about the flat head, Elise has such strong neck control she lifts her head up all different directions herself, I hope you find some answrs to that one!

Mel - I think ELise is going through a growth spurt as well, she is pushing 5kg and is sooooooooo long now.
Not sure when I will start swimming lessons, probably when I am not so fat and can fit into my bathers again lol.

I hope all you mummies and bubs in Melbourne and Adelaide are keeping cool, must be so horrible, I am soooooooo glad for a change not to be back in Melb.

Aimee has now started to sleep overnight from 9:30-6am, its great but I am a milk fountain come morning and still having her 4hr arvo nap great routine that she has developed all on her own. Its way to hot here to do anything, our airconditioer wasn't keeping up yesterday but isn't too bad today.

mel - belly sleeping is not part of the sids guidelines so I only let Aimee belly sleep during the day when I am poping in and out of her room.
ll80- a routin ehelps so much doesn't it?
we3 wont do swimming lessons yet, Jasmine kept getting ear infections when we started at 6 months so we stopped and so did the ear infections but she did enjoy swimming

Hi Ladies, how are you all? Well we're all sleeping in the lounge room as it's the only room in the house with air con lol. One good thing about the heat is that Belle sleeps 8 hours through the night - although I keep waking up with full sore boobs!

Thanks for the advice re the flat head. I've just bought the love nest pillow online which should arrive tomorrow. Fingers crossed it works as her head is really quite flat now at the back. It's amazing how quickly it formed - two weeks ago it wasn't there!

ll80 I have tried pressing on my breast to slow the flow, it worked once but since then not so much. I'm persisting with lying back and feeding which sometimes Belle lets me do others she won't have a bar of - very picky about her positions! Most feeds she can handle it but come the witching hour she is too hysterical and I end up walking around the dining room feeding her - it's the only way to keep her calm enough to feed lol.

ll80 - Scary about the cupboards falling - thank god noone was hurt!

Sararose - wow Aimee's a great sleeper, hope she keeps it up for you.

wow, all these bubbies sleeping through- Mia's not! :doh:
She usually goes to bed at about 8.30/9pm, then is up at 1/2am, then up at 4 or 5. I tried the dreamfeed but she woke at 3.3am anyway! I hope she starts sleeping longer soon, that would be great. Now I usually rock her until her eyes get droopy, then put her in the bassinett to self settle. If she cries Ill go in and put the dummy in, and stroke her nose downwards so her eyes close!Works most times but sometimes I have to pick her up and rock her again.
Damn hot here, we have evap cooling which makes it bareable.

Claire- glad Belle is sleeping through for you, lucky thing!

Sara- glad Aimee has gotten into a good routine!

ll80- gosh how scary, that must have made a loud bang! So glad Elise is being a good little girl!

littlelalla- hope you had a better nights sleep last night, yep it makes it harderwith the heat!

Mel- sorry to hear about your nan. Mia has done similar things with the hysterical crying in the car, but as soon as that teat hits her lips she sucks it like no tommorow and stops crying lol.

Hi girls, its been a bit quiet lately everyone busy with bubs now.
Aimee slept in her cot overnight for the first time last night as she is getting a bit big for her bassinett. She woke once because she had kicked off her blankets and her room was fairly cool so I covered her up and she went off to sleep again within 5minutes. tonight I'll put her in a warmer outfit so if she kicks off her wrap she wont be to cold (I hope).

Aimee has had green poo this week, really gross i am hoping its just because she is feeding more often in the heat. She is happy otherwise and still gaining weight, over 6kg now little chubba. Jasmine is feeling a bit put out now by Aimee, I was burping her yesterday and Jasmine shoved Aimee and told me to 'put Aimee down and play blocks with Jamin' (she cant say her name properly lol). i had to tell her off and explain that we dont push grr.

Hope everyone is well and coping with the heat. Yesterday we went to a friends pool for a swim and I had Aimee in the pram with a wet muslin wrap over it, everytime it dried she winged until it was wet again. With the breeze she had her own litlle evap cooler, she loved it and loved kicking the wet sheet with her feet.

Hi everyone how are you and your bubs doing? Well Belle had her vaccinations yesterday - it nearly broke my heart! She'd had a shocking night the night before and had barely slept so was cranky and crying before she even got her shots - but man did she scream while she got them! Luckily my DH took her to actually have them while I sat in the waiting area with tears in my eyes as I heard my little girl crying inconsolably. Atleast it's over now (for 2 months atleast).

Skyeblue how is Mia sleeping - has it improved yet?

Sararose has Aimee adjusted to her cot well? We're thinking of transferring Belle to her cot soon too. Do you girls still wrap your babies? Belle is so long and strong that we have to double wrap her as otherwise she gets out. She can't sleep without being wrapped but I'm thinking of getting some grobags instead. Does anyone use these? Would a bub that has to be wrapped to sleep adjust to the bag well?

Awww Claire I had tears when Mia got hers done too...but after one scream after each needle she was fine thankfully. How is Belle now?
Yes I still wrap Mia, but yesterday the health nurse said to stop once she hits three months because if she rolls over she wont be able to get back and might not be able to breath?? Im not listening to that advice though, she can barely hold her head up letalone roll over!

Sara- Thats great Aimee is doing well in her cot now. I tried M in hers yesterday for a sleep and she was fine, but back to the basinett today, because it has the anglecare monitor in it.

We had a great night last night....first night EVER that Mia has slept though! yay. She went to bed at 6pm, had a feed at 10.30pm, then slept til 5am. Back in bed at 6am. It was great.
I started my diet yesterday, went out and bought scales today and nearly died, I had no idea I weigh that much! Arrghh. Oh well, no more treats for a while, and Im getting stuck into the walking.
Sara I noticed you are doing really well with your weight loss....any hints? :)

hi ladies,
just popping in between mopping floors and tidying up the house. we have my parents and my brother and his partner and their two boys arriving tomorrow. my eldest DS is 8 tomorrow (gosh where's that time gone?!?!) and DS no.2 is 3 on Saturday so it will be great to have them over for their party. everyones bubbies seem to be doing well....we are having some nice solid blocks of sleep - well one 5 ish hour first up then a few 3 hours but i'm taking what i can get atm! ochre has started dribbling a lot lately....could it be teeth!!! :rolleyes:

skye - i'm too scared to weigh myself - i was doing soo good just after he was born and now i've put a bit more on again....gotta control my sugar addiction!

sararose - how cute! the boys are having their party at the local indoor pool so Dh is taking Ochre for his first swim. he loves the bath so i think he will love the pool too :)

claire- how's the love nest pillow going?

ll80 - how are u coping with school drop offs in the morning? so far so good my end. because of his age i dont have to go into the classroom with DS1 so it helps to be able to just jump in the car (in pjs if i want to!) and drop him off at the front gate. it's still hectic getting breakfasts, packing lunchboxes, feeding and clothing all 3 boys in time for 8.40am!! ;)

Just had to pop in and share my excitement Tony proposed last night! We will be getting married on the 5th fed 2011 as the 5th feb is the first day we kissed. (and we have some time to save up for the big day lol). So we will all have the same surname one day
sb - im doing ww, going to the gym and breastfeeding, last time I left it too long and found it hard to shift the weight, have a big incentive to loose the weight now ;). Just remember it took 9months to make a baby so allow yourself at least that long to lose the weight
littlelalla- sounds like you are going to be a busy lady this week, enjoy your visitors
clair - glad belle is doing well, Aimee has settled into the cot very well, she seems to be happy in it. I hate vaccinations, I think they upset us more than the bubs

Oh Sararose congratulations - how exciting! It will be so nice to able to have your beautiful girls as part of the wedding - you'll be a gorgeous bride!

Well I've decided to buy some grobags as Belle is really wriggly in her wraps now as she can't extend her legs properly. I think we'll do the transition form wrap to grobag to cot all in one go. Fingers crossed it all goes well!

Everything going well here, ELise is a bit sniffly at the moment though, I think she has caught something from SIL's youngest, she isn't sick just sniffly, we all are though. Might have to get some fess to clear her nose up but it isnt bothering her too much at the moment.

LittleL - definitely is a juggling act trying to get it together in the mornings. I need to leave the house by 8am-810 at the latest as I also drop DH at work, only the one car.
I don't even think about eating breakfast until I get back from dropping Abby off. I have to walk her in cause she is only a newbie, so pj's are out lol. SO fat this week DH has made it to work twice on time lol but its all good we are slowly getting a morning routine organised, would help if DH didn't lie in bed for a half hour thinking about getting up, I need to be up at 6am he doesnt generally get up til 7am.

Claire - I used sleeping bags for DD1 they were great as she used to kick off all her blankets, they kept her nice and warm and toasty in cold Melb winter. I don't need them atm being in QLD now but will be using them again this winter as it gets quite chilly here in Towoomba.

Sararose - Congrats!!!! how exciting, lovely incentive to loose those kg's now!! You've given yourself heaps of time too, good luck with it all :)

Skye - YAY on the sleeping through, Elise is sleeping from 11 or so til 6am now, it's lovely to get 6 hours of straight sleep.

I have been walking a bit, picking u p Abby from school in the afternoon, she whinges the whole way back home though which is a pain. I've lost a little weight has I can get some of my pants up past my thighs now but they are still way too tight to wear.
*sigh* I hate having to wear the same thing all the time but I really refuse to buy clothes which are two sizes bigger than what I was pre preg.

Elise is 8 weeks today and needle time is coming up, I keep changing my mind about what I want to do about it.

I haven't been on here for a very long time and I missed out on everyone's pregnancies!! :doh: We had to disconnect our internet for awhile & I was only checking out the forum now and then. I finally logged back on today and I found this thread where you all are now talking about your beautiful babies...I can't believe I've missed out on soooo much!! CONGRATULATIONS to you all!!! I look forward to keeping in touch with everyone again now......

I had a baby girl named Aaliyah, she weighed 5.14 pounds and she is now 2 months! She was one week early and not to mention it was a 30 hour labour!!!!! it was an experience of a life time!!! However it was all worth it no doubt! she's just beautiful!

I will read what everyone is up to and share my experiences with you all. Maybe get some answers at the same time. Actually I do have one....Does anyone know why she is foaming? she has lots of bubbles and I find I have to keep the bib on her because she dribbles but not too much though....... take care everyone....
