Aimee is now rolling from her back to her tummy, so cute. She shocked her self the first time, bit of a pain becuase she doen't like being on her tummy so I am constantly flipping her back, she can roll from tummy to back accidentaly but hasn't worked out how to do it at will lol
Jasmine is finally toilet trained, our third attempt and she has mastered it, 10 days and no accidents day or night in the last 3! We are running out of toilet paper and soap as its a novelty and she is in and out the loo so much lol. Saving so much in nappies now woo hoo!

Toilet training seems so far away but I bet we will be discussing it before we know it, scary! I think Lachlan is preparing to roll. He is prob still a way off but he is getting those legs right u and trying ever so hard to get over. I think his poor head is a bit big!! At one stage he was rolling from tummy to back pretty well. Lachlan hates tummy time so I think he sussed that if he can roll he doesn't have to be on his tummy anymore. It was so funny I was trying to get a photo of him craning his neck but everytime I grabbed the camera he would start rolling. In the end I got a whole bunch of pictures with him in different stages of rolling over He seems to have gone backwards now and he doesn't roll as often anymore. I was getting a bit concerned that the he hated tummy time so much as the mchn at mothers group said that she had seen a child who was 15 months old that had just started crawling coz him mum didn't do tummy time with him. Like its that simple!!! I had a thread here and the lovely bb ladies assured me that tummy time is not the be all end all of there motor developement so im not too worried and we do as much tummy time as we can without over doing it.
Skyeblue: Lachlan hasn't had injections since he was 8 weeks old. That remnds me I have to book his 4 month injections, eek. I think he was just having an off day. He has had a bit of a cold and been a bit grumpy. I think his day sleeps may be part of the problem too but Im not keen on going to any sleep schools about it. I think he is a bit young for control crying and I dont know what they would tell me that I dont already know. The last few days he has been having one sleep during the day of more than an hour so maybe he is getting there on his own. See how he goes over the next few weeks.
Well Im up at 6am. Lachlan is in bed but I decided to stay up as I usually feel terrible if I go back to bed now and have to get up in a couple hours. Its really nice actually. So peaceful and I actually managed to drink a HOT cup of coffee!!! Funny the things you take for granted before kids!!! We have mothers group this arvo which shoule be good. Lachlan has been pretty good the last few days so it has been nice. Yay a positive post for once. Hope you are all well!!
Sararose: I was just reading your beautiful birth story about Aimee and I noticed that you were from Adelaide and that you were involved with the group practice. Which hospital did you go through if you dont mind me asking?? ( you dont need to answer that if you dont want to). I only ask as I went through the group practice at Flinders hospital and really enjoyed the whole experience.
Isabel I went through flinders too (I also work there as a nurse on a cardiothroacic surgery and cardiology ward). They were great both times if we have a thrid I will try my hardest to get into the group practice. Who was your midwife if you dont mind my asking. I live in Huntfield Heights so if you ever want to catch up or anything pm me.
Small world!! My midwife was sue. we had her partner mandy after Lachlan's birth as she was on holidays. Its a really good system isn't it?? Ill try my hardest to get in again.
sara, i have been taking fenugeek for ages. i am scared that my milk will just stop one day, like it did with dd1 - so taking it as a precaution (just two a day) - but i get that slow feeling too, and when i do i just take a couple extra.
so far laa is still happy to sleep when out - but not in her pram - in her sling. we went out to lunch the other day and she was in it, awake and looking around, then just put her little head down and went to sleep. our friends couldnt believe it . she goes to sleep very nicely in her cot during day sleeps (i just put her down and she gives me a smile, i walk off and come back in 5 mins and she is out). often she will wake, i will see her wriggling, but then i go back a few mins later and she is back to sleep.
she is starting to do 360's when i lay her down - leave her on her mat and come back 5 mins later and she is upside down! come back and she is back to where she began, very cute.

We are going well here. Had a good night last night. Mia went to bed at 7pm, woke for a feed at 4am, then woke up at 7.15am. She has only had a catnap this morning though, I think she is ready for another sleep now.
Sara- that is awesome that Aimee is rolling and Jasmine is toilet trained! What an achievment. Did it take long for Jasmine to be toilet trained?
Isabel- I was up early this morning too, before Mia. It was nice to get a few things done before she woke.
I didnt do much tummy time with Mia until a couple of weeks ago. Now she really enjoys it. I didnt bother doing it when she hated it, not for more than a few minutes anyway. I doubt it has a great impact on their development.
Kitt3n- how cute about the sleeping in the sling. M doesnt sleep well at all when we go out, so I try only to go out when she just wakes up. Im hoping she will get better as she gets older. She does the same as your little laa though, and as soon as I put her in her cot in her sleeping bag, dummy in, she turns her head and falls asleep straight away. It did take her a few weeks to do this though. Im glad I persisted, even when she cried, I would not pick her up, I would just keep walking in and putting the dummy in. Now it is paying off. I thought it would always be that way lol, thank god it isnt.
What is baby lead weaning? Just waiting til they are ready?
kitten - I am thinking of trying BLS this time round, seems so much easier, no special preparation or buying bland baby food. Mum has already asked me when Im going to start solids (as in she thinks Aimee is ready now). Aimee likes to sit on my lap and watch me eat but hasn't tried to grab food yet. I think in the next month or so she might be ready (she will be 6 months in about 6 weeks eek)
Skye- BLS or baby led weaning is when you offer baby foods you eat as a family, often starting with fruits and vegies cut into chip shapes. The idea is if the baby is developed enough to pick up the food and put it in their mouth they have the devlopmental skills required to chew it and swallow. Babies get to experience the texture, feel and taste of food and decide what they eat at their pace. Ahould be fun but I think its going to be a lot messier than spoon feeding puree
Im steaming some pumpkin at the moment to freeze for Mia, Ill give it to her in a few weeks. Im going to give her purees first
She has had 4 sleeps today...TINY cat naps! Oh well, not much you can do when they wake up after 30 mins I havent been sticking to the routine, so that may be why.

I've just spent the last 2 hours listening to Elise scream her little lungs out.
It's so heart breaking, I can't stand it.
I don't know what was wrong, tried all the usual tricks nothing worked, ended up giving her panadol just in case but it didn't seem to do anything.
I can see two bottom teeth just below the surface, I don;t know if it was that, or she was just over tired and over stimulated, just one of those afternoons.
In the end she just cried until she was exhausted and fell asleep.
I put her to bed just like I normally do in the afternoon, she normally goes right to sleep on the boob. I feed her in bed and she stays there and has her usual 45 min cat nap.
We were just both in tears, I had to leave her so i could vomit in the end, just before she finally gave in to the sleep, just makes me physically ill when she cries like that.
*deeps breaths* going to take me a while to wind down from this one, I hope she stays asleep for a while.
oh laura hugs hun. sounds like the teeth - all you can do is cuddles (and make sure you take a breath for yourself). Is hubby home? Can you go have a hot shower?
sara - i am going to get the breastfeeding assosciation's booklet on BLW - they had an info session here yesterday ut i was too sick to get my butt down there. have you done any reading? i'd be interested to hear what you have come across, it just seems to make much more sense.
skye - are you following a strict regime? laa settled into her routine all by herself, i have never left her to cry - did you watch bringing up baby on the abc? was very interesting, there were some couples there who followed strict routines. i love that video you have on FB she is just adorable!!!
we have a pooooo pooo girl in the house again - a new nappy at least once an hour - she is hardly wetting them but plenty of poo! thinking it might be the teeth.

Hubby wasn't home at the time but she ended up sleeping til 8pm and has just gone down agan now for the night. She was a happy bub when she woke up so perhaps she was just over tired and over stimulated.
I did give her some braurers teething relief when she woke up, maybe that helped settled her.

I'm thinking about doing BLW as well. I am just a bit apprehensive because Abby would just gulp down anything that was near her mouth all in one go, llittle vacuum, nothing much has changed. I can not tell you the amount of times she almost choked on food because she couldn't get the concept of slowly sucking or mashing in her mouth, was hey, let's shove this whole banana in my mouth and swallow it all at once. Had a few close calls, she even went blue once.
Having said that though Elise is such a different bubba to Abby she might be completely fine with it.
I'll give it a go.

Haven't been on in awhile ~ we used up all our gig allowance and the computer was running ridiculously slow....no time to sit around and wait for pages to load. Today has been one of those days with Ochre. Really have no idea what his problem is but he hasn't had much to drink today so I'm pretty sure we are in for a rough night. I don't know if it's teeth but he latches on and then within seconds pulls off and just goes hysterical. I wait patiently for him to settle down and try him again and after a few more fits we eventually get there but he only half drains one side. During his crying he goes stiff in the body and arches his back - does anyone know if that could be wind? He has been waking for feeds 3 hourly in the night lately too. I think I will start him on solids at about 5.5 months. I am drowning in a sea of sleep deprivation at the moment and it's not making life easy. I hate feeling like a grouchy old bear in the mornings....it's not fair on my other boys. All these broken nights are making me feel like I'm losing my sparkle so to speak. I hope things improve soon.
Ochre has found his feet and is enjoying holding onto them and rolling onto his sides. Now that he can grab them it's making change time a whole new ball game too! Hard to dress a baby when they keep wanting to chew their own toes! Sorry for no personals ladies. Was good to read and catch up. Have a great weekend
I have been speaking to a few of you on facebook and it seems a few of us might have teething babies at the moment. Big hugs for everyone who is going through it - Maya is my first baby and its a shock to me. Maya just screams most of the time and was up every few hours last night screaming. I am about to lose it! I have been giving Maya Panadol or Nurofen, Hylands Teething relief, infants friend, teething gel and just bought a amber necklace lol (though I haven't used all the above at the same time!).
Can anyone recommend anything else that works? I will try the Hylands 2 tablets, every hour for 3 hrs tonight to see if she will sleep... I try giving her a cold teething rusk but unless I hold it she doesn't seem that keen on it.
Maya is now 5 months old! Can't believe in a months time she will be eating solids and in the front facing car seat - crazy times. What are the signs that your baby is ready for solids?

In the last week and a half Aimee has been grabbing food off my plate at lunch and trying to eat it! She is only 5 months and 1 week now but I gave her some watermelon today. She chomped away on it for ages. Im not sure how much she swallowed but she sure had fun. (this baby led solids idea is great but oh so messy lol )Jasmine has broken a lot of the keys on the lap top so she is in the bad books at the moment.
Aimee is in the 95bpercentile for height but her weight percentile has dropped a bit, the gp just told me to try and get a couple of extra feeds in and have her weiged in a fortnight but she is not overly concerned. I think part o the problem was I got gastro and became dehydrated and my milk supply dropped a bit.

We are going really well here. I have been worried about the dummy, Mia needs it to settle herself to sleep for each and every sleep, which is fine, but has been waking when it falls out. So today we went to sleep school- and no more dummy! Was a very hard day, hard work, a bit upsetting, but tonight she fell asleep with no dummy, and self settled. Good little girl!
She is loving her solids, eating fruits and vegies.
ll80- oh I was so upset to read your other post- you poor thing! Oh It is so hard listening to them cry, but much worse when there is nothing you can do about it! Mia has done that a few times, screamed and screamed and nothing will make her stop, both of us ending up in tears I hope she has been better lately, poor little munchkin.
Kitten- Yeah I watched the program. We arent doing a strict routine, but a rough (flexible one) which is waking at 7, sleeps whenever she is tired, dinner at 5.30, bath at 6, bottle at 6.30, bed at 7. She does that every night, and it is working really well for us.
Lol hope the poo has lessened lol...any signs of teeth?
Littlelalla- OMG Mia does that sometimes too! While she is drinking she arches her back and screams like she is in pain, not sure what it is! Hope your little man is ok, the pic of you two is GORGEOUS.
Sara how has the extra feeding been going? LOL @ her grabbing your food! hahaha so cute. I havent tried Mia with chunks yet...oh I lie, she has sucked on a bannana before she LOVED it.
Does anyone have those things where u put the fruit in a net thing and bub can suck it?

Hey girls!
Hope everyone's Easters were great! We went to Adelaide for a week and stayed with my family. I consumed soo much chocolate and brought back a whole bag full - managed to palm a lot of it off to my inlaws when we got back yesterday. On Monday I will be starting a new diet (which means NO chocolate) so i'm hoping that bag no longer resides in my house - i don't need the temptation! I'm finding ochre spews more when i eat chocolate so that's another good reason to cut it out. I'm starting him on solids next week - he will be 5 months tomorrow. I was going to wait til 6 months but to be honest with you all i really think he needs it. He's not the most settled baby and because he still feeds at 10 ishpm and 3ish am and then again at 6ish am most nights i think the food will help him to sleep longer. It's been weird to keep him off solids for this long as my other two boys started at 4 months. I was in a breastfeeding parents room in Myers the other day and another Mum was feeding her 5 month old and he was going crazy over his food - couldn't get enough. I'm very excited to start him I think i will do a combination of baby led and purees.
Skye - wow sleep school!! you are so lucky to have that where you live i can just imagine how hard it must have been but very worth it if you can get her back on track. ochre still has a dummy but he's not that reliant on it anymore. He usually spits it out before he's even fallen asleep so im not worried about him having it. I have one of the those net things! I didn't use it heaps with Zephyr but I will get it out for Ochre as he loves putting everything in his mouth.
Sara - oh when Zephyr was 2 he attacked his Dad's laptop too and managed to pull off over half the keys!! so naughty!! it's a good thing they can be put back on! i can just imagine how messy the watermelon was ~ are u giving her some kind of food everyday now?
mel - oh u poor thing ! and poor Maya! I agree with Skye ~ the Brauers teething relief is good. Some babies just suffer more than others. My first son never had one moment of teething - we actually never really knew when a new tooth appeared...he was so happy and contented all the time! DS 2 and DS 3 aren't so lucky

Hey ladies!!!! How are you all? I'm so mad because I found this thread about 3 months ago and since then I never got an email notification to say that this thread had been updated. I was just scanning through this site now and here you all are!!!
I've been reading all your posts and it sounds like I'm not alone.....with many things. More importantly with the teething! Aaliyah has been chewing on everything she sees for the last week and dribbling all over the place. Bonjela has been working like a charm but still gets frustrating when I wake at 5 in the morning to see her chewing on the blanket and it's over her head!
Glad to hear everyone is doing well and all your babies are growing to be healthy and happy. Hopefully I won't lose touch again and I've saved this site to my favourites
I'll give you a quick run down of Aaliyah's routine and how she's been..... I'm still breastfeeding and am thankful for it because I didn't think I would get this far. She normally wakes at 8:30am has her feed and goes down around 9:30. Sleep for 2 hours but wakes in-between and somedays goes right through. Feeds at 12:00pm then has a play for 1 1/2 hours. Goes back to sleep around 1:30, 2:00 the latest and is up at 3:30. Has another feed and I put her down for about another hour and that's it. By 6:30 I give her a breastfeed but not a long one because at 7:30 she has ber bath and then I give her the bottle. She takes 210mL then I even top her up with a breast feed. She's up at 5:00am for a feed then the day starts again at 8:30am. She's a happy baby and I cant' complain. Night time is frustrating coz she doesn't go down to sleep straight away. She'll sleep for about half an hour then wakes up crying and we have to re-settle her. Unfortunately she depends on the dummy however I'm happy but I will get rid of it sooner or later.
