Tinsel - We bought Olivia a highchair last weekend so that she can see what we are doing when we are in the kitchen and she sits in it when we eat at the table. It really has been a good idea, she was getting so whingy on the floor sometimes simply because she couldn't see what was going on, but now she is happy. We got one that does all the things Trish said. We're not using the tray, just strapping her in and giving her a toy to play with.

Yeah I know it can be reversed. But if DP does it there is no way he'd go back to have it undone. His father had it done as a younger man and went back for a reversal but it never worked for him. Karma though for that man.

I have all but decided that I won't be continuing with Abbey's immunisations. Had a chat with DP about it on the weekend and he is very supportive of it though. He is the kind of person who just "goes with the flow", if the Dr's say do it he does, iykwim. I am trying to make him realise that I am not doing this just to be different, but for the greater good of our child. I can't see how I can go through injecting my baby with this stuff knowing the harmful outcomes and possibilites. I know if she was to had a serious adverse reaction from immunisation I would never forgive myself.

Abbey had an ok night here. She woke a couple of times but went on to sleep in til after 9.30 again. She still has her cough and is quiet chesty. I think it's been around 2 weeks now. Poor thing just had a little upchuck and it was full of phlegm. Atleast its coming up though.

I have my dinner on cooking already, has been on for a while now. Bloody DP used all bar 1 potato lastnight, nbot impressed, he knew I had a stew planned for the day. Thank God I have a heap of other vegies, but at the moment all I can smell is parsnips and swede. LOL.

Do any of your babies hate tummy time. Abbey cracks it bad. I don't lay her down on her tummy, she turns herself over pretty much as soon as I lay her down, then she gets the craps with it. So floor time is quite short around here. I end up putting her in her swing. Which is good, until she sits forward and then it won't swing....

Hope everyone else is doing ok and bubbies are being kind to their mummies.

soke to nic briefly this morning, she had a good night well woke every hr but was happy to be patted to sleep, not 100% sure if they are outof hosp yet I do know she is goign to her dr to find out why

got the proper story too, they were at cashregister paying for grocerie, when she had a little puke then a big one and another little, so Nic picked her up and said to simon she is very warm, he said duck roudn to drs while I pay here, so nic and boys headed roudn to dr's no big deal when they got there she had gone all pale etc dr staright away rang ambos, when simon got to drs after putting groceries in car, Isaac was waiting and said mummy needs you or something like that, anyway by this stage olivia is on a bed, on oxygen andhooked up to heart monitor very scary..

I am sure if nic gets a chance she will check in today, but they are going to rocky as they have some loan paper work to do tomorrow..but any enws I will pass on

Olivia had a good night, slept well, Nicolle didn't sleep well as you can imagine.
They are on their way home to Boyne, they will go and see their doctor, (he saw Olivia last night) and hopefully find an answer for the episode.
The doctor at the hospital was not very helpful, they (hospital) didn't do any tests whatsoever, so Nicolle and Simon are not happy campers.
Hence the reason for going to their own doctor, Olivia had a similar episode about a month ago, but Nicolle didn't worry too much as bub was ok within minutes.

Re the highchair, we bought a plastic one that does all the same stuff as the others - in the end I chose it for the colour:lol:. Swallow from Babyco. We also just got a Bumbo & the tray that goes on it. That's great as well. DD loves being able to sit up (in either option) and loves being up high with us and watching what's going on. We're not starting solids til 6 months, but it's nice having her with us if we're eating or in the kitchen. (I'm trying to learn I don't have to spend every waking moment sitting playing with her!)

Ella hates tummy time too, but hasn't learnt to roll over yet so she's stuck there. I just bought a lamaze ladybird toy that lets her swivel around on her tummy to different things. She really likes the bright colours & the things to play with, so that has helped keep her on her tum to get those muscles strengthened!

We had a crappy day yesterday. Still can't figure out what Ella's routine should be. Feeling more relaxed and trying to go with the flow a bit more today. Still confused tho! She can't seem to last up for more than an hour, but doesn't want to sleep for more than 45 min. Trying to figure out when she needs naps and when she needs sleeps. If only she could talk! :) Hope you're all having a good day.

Jus, the ladybird think yoy got for Ella, does she face plant on it. I looked at those and thought that bub would when tired loose upper body strength and not be ablt to hold thier head up and face plant the ground. Hoping not though. It does sound good though as long as she is getting some normal tummy time too.

Abbey is shocking in the day, she rarely sleeps and if she does its not for any longer than a cycle, and then its only 20 minutes in bed after I finally get her there. I try not to stress too much over it eitehr, but it sure would be nice to have a little more time to do things.

I am trying to feed her atm, and she keeps taking her mouth off the boob and sticking her thumb in to suck it. Cute bubba she is :D

Glad to hear Olivia seems better. :wall: Qld health Depts - hope the GP is able to shed some light.

Vicky will go about 2mins on tummy and then thats it. Alex hated it too, but he started standing & hanging onto furniture at 6 months. Trish Vicky has had one 45 min sleep so far today and she woke around 6. Trying to feed her off atm but its not working:rolleyes:
And i have just started the moult - i filled the hairbrush 4 times yesterday :(

Hey Ella does the thumb thing when she's on bb too! Cracks me up..

Good question re the face-plant. One of the reasons I bought the ladybird is because she doesn't face plant b/c is raised off the ground. So is working her muscles even without having to fold her arms under her chest. So she can play with the toys on the floor. It's the longest she's stayed on her tum. I also do the rolled up towel thing under the chest on the floor & that helps too. She likes tummy time on our bed rather than the floor. sometimes I also put a rolled up nappy under her chest when she's on ladybird. Just depends.

Man, the moulting... has been going on here for a month, and my hair is really oily too. I knew about the moulting but not the oily.... anyone else?

Ella's just had a pretty good nap all on her own. Trying to regain my confidence in going with the flow, and ignoring all the voices in my head telling me the 'rules' about sleeping. She's been really windy lately (fluffing all the time, no poos) so dunno if that's part of the story???

Guess I'm stressing about time b/c the house is a dump (will remain so sadly), and I'm trying to get planning done for going back to work next week - only a day a wk, but am a teacher & lots to program. Good time to learn not to be a perfectionist. Keep it all in perspective.

Rach, please let Nic know we are all thinking about her. It is pretty slack of a hospital to do nothing when it is a little baby that is in trouble.

Olivia slept ok last night (10-6) but it is the first night this week that she has slept through. I think maybe she is having a growth spurt as she seems hungrier than usual.

Had an awfully stressful day yesterday. We are trying to organise a new kitchen and it was just frustration after frustration yesterday. I am never visiting a certain swedish mega-store again! Hopefully it will all be delivered today :pray: , then we just have to organise the installation guys. I was so excited about planning the new kitchen but now it just seems like a pain and I can't wait for it to be over!

Loren had her needles yesterday and I must say I am concerned about her reaction. She has had an ellevated temp for 24 hours and she is making a scary whinning noise all the time.

BTW her stats at 4 months and 10 days are w:6.8kg, l 63cms and h 40cm.

hello everyone. Long time no see! Glad to see everyone is doing well and babies are growing nice and big.

Summer is going great guns and is still growing length ways but not weight ways! She is now about 67cm long but only weighs about 6.3kg so she is long and skinny!!!

Sorry i haven't been chatting much. DH andi are in the process of selling our place and building so havent had much access to the net! Hope everyone has a great long weekend with partners and babies!!

Hi Girls.. thanks for the well wishes..

We are home now well at my mums.. We had an appointment booked for Wednesday so we had to come up but either way we are closer to a bigger hospital so its all good..

just a recap on what happened.. She woke from her afternoon nap at 3:30 had a decent feed and we went grocery shopping. while shopping she brought up a little bit of milk so I wiped it away. It was a little unusual for her but not unusual for babies. she then brought up some more milk and then again 2 more times. I picked her up and noticed she was quite warm and pale so we decided to take her round to the Drs surgery expecting to be sent away with a paranoid parent look.. As soon as the Dr saw her he said this is a very unwell baby. He took one look and asked me to lay her on the bed and she was white and unresponsive. he started her on some oxygen and liften her legs into the air to regain colour. He then listened to her heart and said thats too low we need to give her some adrenline.. He left the room and came back relistened and gave her the shot.. He rang an ambulance as well in case she didnt recover.

she regained some colour and her heart rate went back up to 80bpm. It was 40 and dropping. A normal infants heart rate is around 120bpm.. The ambulance arrived and we were taken to town. they gave her oxygen and had her on a heart monitor. by now her heart rate was back to 120bpm..

not much was done to my satisfaction between then and when we left hospital. We got admitted by 8 and Simon went home at 9:30. Olivia went to sleep at 10 and sort of slept till 5. She woke every hour when they came in to monitor her but didn't need feeding till 5.. I was so shocked they didn't have her on a heart monitor overnight. and we requested an apneo monitor which they were happy to give..

I took her back to my GP today at 12. and he basically the hospital Drs were idiots. The hosp Drs said she had a vasal vagal ( i think) or just one of those things but was normal.. um I;m no Dr but yesterday was not frickin normall.. Anyways my GP has reassured me. he is going to investigate further. He said she may have had a seizure as she was twitching but if it was a seizure it could have been to do with the low heart rate and lack of oxygen.

Anyways I never want to go through that again. I wasn't scared till we were in the ambulance then I started shaking. It hit me then.. today the Dr told me that Olivia's heart wasn't just sitting at 40 it was dropping.. usually by that stage it can just stop :( so please say prayers or whatever good thoughs that she never does that again. I never want to see her looking the way she did :(

Oh Nic I am tearing up reading your post, not sure how you coped. I am sending you every bit of luck and love I can. Hope your little Miss is keeping well at the moment and that they can get to the bottom of what happened :comfort:

At the moment she is sleeping soundly. I have her monitor on and it is on tic which means it tics each time she breathes, which is very reassuring as we can't muck up her routine too much by just lettingher sleep on us or right next to us like she was last night and today. In the long run it would be no good for anyone..

Alicia: I don't know how I coped either. Normally I just break down when things like that happen but I think I just went numb and it all happened so fast.. One minute she was in the trolley laughing at Isaac and within 10 minutes she was laying motionless in the Drs room..

Nic I am so sorry you got such as scare - please let us know how your little one travels overnight.

Nic, good to hear that you are back at home with Olivia. I can't believe that the stupid hosp Dr said that it was a normal occurance. Sorry but none of my kids have ever done anything as "normal" as that. Good on you for following it up with your GP. I hope he comes back with some answers for you. The unknown is often the worse I think. Huge hugs to you and Olivia.What a very scarey time for you huni :hug:

Trish - Do you know where I can get some information on the immunisations? I really don't like the way they have affected Loren this time so I think I need to be more informed. Over the years I have asked doctors to provide me with information but they just give my the standard pamphlets that are produced by the companies that make the products.

We had a good night.. considering she woke almost every hour lol.. I don't know why I am not more tired. I haven't really slept well the last 2 nights..

Bek: What is Loren doing? re immunisations! When Olivia had her reaction to the rota virus one at 2 months she projectile vomited 2 hours afterwards and then the next 4 days she cried and screamed due to tummy cramps.. We chose to do the 4 month ones as well but we had no reaction this time thankfully..

Trish - would you mind PM me the info you sent Bek. I agree with what you said the other day that u wouldn't forgive yourself if the vaccine caused something as i feel the same but on the other hand im struggling with the thought that by not immunising she could get really sick unneccessarily.

Ella just rolled from tummy to back this morning. maybe it's a fluke, but I'm still excited. Of course she wouldn't do a repeat performance so I could video :dance:

I'm going ahead with the immunisations, altho will be cautious with MMR as we have autism in our family. Nurse said the reactions are getting less these days as the carriers are safer. Also we looked at a display in the british museum about the research linking autism & MMR & when it was analysed properly there was no link found. However, I'm going to opt to give her the shots separately rather than all at once.

having a happy day here - just managed to get ella back to sleep after a sleep cycle. yesterday tried getting her up each time she woke. bad idea - grumpypants. back to plan a! (Long naps)

Jus, given that you already have an Autism link in your family I would be really hesitant on the MMR. You can delay it until she is 2 or 3. Might be a better option. I posted a thread a couple of weeks back where these is a case going ahead in America of an Autistic person sueing for the vaccination. They are finally admitting that yes there is a link. Not trying to change your mind hun. Just letting you know.

Abbey is still in bed. She woke early for a feed and went back to sleep. I have been up with Tehya since 6am though. Abbey did wake briefly earlier. I thought I will go to the loo then come out and get her but by the time I got there she was back fast asleep.

I am soooooo over these school holidays. Although with Abbey's new found love of sleeping in it's going to be hard for her getting up early next week.

Why is it any safer at 2-3 years?
Can you get testing done for the Mitochondrial risk?

Jus, I will PM you the same things that I sent the other girls.
There is testing for Mitochondrial disease as such, but I don't think there is one they will do before the illness makes itself present, if you get what I mean.

The thought of having it done later is that the brain is more mature at this age. Also at such a young age, unless you are in contact with infected people, how is your baby going to catch Hep B ? It's spread by bodily fluids.
If you really knew of some of the ingredients, you would shudder. I will have to send you the link I read today. It was shocking.

Thanks Trish for that info - eyes are popping out from reading so much but has helped in making up my mind. I wont be doing now and will revisit it all when she is 2ish. We are low risk and i said to DP that we can always change our minds and vaccinated but once its done you cant take it back.

We had a good day as i made an effort to get out for our walk straight after breakkie. Vicky slept heaps better thru the day and wasn't screaming for bed at 5.30pm instead went at the usual 7pm and Alex had a 2hr sleep which normally im lucky to get an hour. Will go out earlier again tomorrow and see if it works again.

Olivia not long woke up with a mild temp (38,2) We gave some panadol and seh seems heaps cooler now. A little bit grizzly though.. We are going back to the GP tomorrow to get another check up and ask for some tests done so will let you know how we go..

Little miss is wanting the mummy boobs so better go...

Olivias temp went down but she didn't go back to bed till 11 but slept till 5 and went to bed at 6 and we slept till 9. woke again with another temp but gave panadol and going to drs in half hour. I think she has an ear infection and looks like she has a tooth under the gum.. poor baby has it all going on..

anyways better go. missy almost finished feeding so better go get dressed

Vicky was super cute last night - while she was asleep i caught her giggling - it was beautiful.

Oh how cute Morgan.. i love baby giggles but in the sleep how adorable!!

Back from Drs.. She is fine. no ear infection or anything. he thinks she might have a mild virus which is causing the temps but said that is not the reason for the other days episode. We asked about testing but he said there are so many reasons for what happened that it would be hard to know where to start in regards to testing for something. her heart sounds perfect and all we can do is be vigilant in watching her and hope it doesn't happen again.. I do feel reassured after seeing him again but I just feel like I can't relax. She in her bed on her monitor but I hate having her out of my sight. Simon goes back to work tomorrow and I am so nervous about being home alone with her :(

Anyways enough about me. Hope all the other bubba's are doing well..

im glad to hear Olivia is ok. When Alex was about 6 months he got bronchilitus (sp?) and nearly stopped breathing. Anyway i spent the next 3-4 weeks sleeping on the floor in his room as i was so scared that something would go wrong. I know how anxious you feel and in time it'll pass but thats our jobs as mums to stress over things. :hugs:

We went out early again this morning and atm both my ratbags are sleeping it is so peaceful.
