Hi to Michelle from the last thread
be back later with an update
Hi there guys,
just wondering if it's OK to join your thread - I've been enjoying reading along so far and hearing similar stuff is going on for your babies - it's all new to me. First time mum, and loving my DD in between not knowing what I'm doing!
Hi to meet you - The more the merrier i reckon.![]()
hi everyone
I have been reading the thread but hardly posting, has been hectic since getting back from Canberra. Maria has been very trying and Sofia has been unhappy, I think teeth but not sure. Maria went back to CC today so I had some good Sofia time.
Thanks to to Tinsel for meeting up with me in Canberra, it was a good afternoon.
Hi Everyone,
Welcome Jus!
Well I think Olivia is having a growth spurt or something as my little girl who was not a daytime sleeper has had a good sleep (1.5-2 hours) everyday for the past week at about 12noon. I am not complaining as she is still usually going to bed before 8:30.
Question - Do people have a set bedtime for their bubs (well, that you try to stick to) or jsut go with how they are feeling? I was following Olivia's lead but have tried a set routine (bugger the 'r' word) the last few days and am hoping it will work...
Alicia - I am starting to try and set a routine with Loren now. I don't feel that she is sleeping long enough during the day so I am trying hard to get her to increase day time sleeps by encouraging a set routine. Basically I am starting with getting her to go down at the lunch time, (like DD1 does) and I try and put her back to sleep if she wakes after one sleep cycle. I am also putting her down around 8.30 at night. Additionally I have a set way of putting her down so that she knows that it is time to sleep. In saying this I am not forcing her or using control crying etc. I have just noticed that she is setting a pattern lately and I am trying to re-enforce it iykwim.
Hi Jus.. welcome.. whats your daughters name?
Hi Louise,, Sorry to hear things are hectic.
Hi Alicia.. No actual routine here. Olivia just sets herself one. She is usually in bed by 8 most nights and during the dy she goes down for nap #1 an hour and a half after she wakes for the day and if she sleeps for an hour then she goes down 2 hours later for a big sleep.. She sometimes has a big sleep in the morning and 2 one hour naps in the afternoon ..
Last night wasn't bad but wasn't great. Olivia slept from 8 till 3 which is a huge improvement but still was awake till after 4 but seeing as Simon was home IO slept till 8 with Olivia. She was so darn funny last night thoug.. singing out in her cot and squealing.. In the end I put her in bed with me as she has a runny noseand every now and then I needed to roll her on her side due to mucous issues..
Hoping for another reasonable night. Poor Olivia didn't get much sleep today as we were out nearly all day fishingthen we went to town and got dinner so she fell asleep in the car but fed and went back to sleep when we got home..
Well thats about it for today.. feel heaps better just for 2 good blocks of sleep last night..
Night Girls and babies
Hi girls, long time no see, huh? You are all right - I am back at work and have been busy - I am working 3 days a week now and will be ramping it up to 4 days a week in May. I am also flying to Milldura on Friday for a conference and will be staying overnight so will be a whole 24 hours away from my bubs! Not sure whether to say woohoo or boohoo - I will miss them but at the same time it will be lovely to leave home at 11am, fly out, check into our nice hotel, go to the gym, have a bath, eat a lovely dinner on a paddleboat, sleep in, have brekky made for me then fly back in time for the mid-morning feed. (Can't you tell I am looking forward to it LOL!!!) Only bummer is I am not sure I have expressed enough "mook" for Ollie so he might have to have a formula feed, but I guess I will have to get over the guilt soon enough.
I am glad all your bubs are settling in as well as can be expected - teething is coming to our house too though! Nic my boy is like Olivia in that he won't just sleep anywhere - Flynn was a champion sleeper and would have loved going fishing at this age. welcome Jus and hello everyone else
Better go - have lots of work to catch up on - ciao bellas!
Good to see you Rory.. ah 24 hours alone.. I think I would like it tilll it happened
We had a preety decent night here last night woo hoo. Olivia slept 8 till 4 then 4:30 till 8 woo again.. Ethan came and woke us at 8 and said guys get up i have school today (woops) Jacob and Olivia were both asleep and Ethan and Isaac had got thier own Breakfast and everything lol..
Feeling fantastic today.. What a difference sleep makes
Hi there, thanks for the welcome.
My DD is Ella, & I'm just loving her - she's a happy little soul. She had her needles yesterday and is definitely grumpy, which I haven't really seen in her before, she it's showing me just how happy she usually is!
We just go with the flow with her feed & bed times. She's a pretty good sleeper. I'm trying to start the day by 7 am so that she's in bed by 8 pm (roughly) because we've had a few nights of the last feed at 8.30 & then bed at 9.30 & then dream feed at 11 which seemed a bit mad. It's good to hear what you guys are doing, as I get the guilts for not having her on a set routine every time I read another book / magazine article. Still it's not like it's chaotic here or anything, just not exact times.
She has been going really long stretches as night, but the last 2 weeks has been waking heaps from about 4 am & I've had to put the dummy in. I'm not sure why, whether she's cold or whether I've created a 'dummy habit'. Trying to figure out what to do. Has anyone else encountered this?
Good luck on the day away from bubs - I'm going to work today, and I'm finding a few hours nerve-wracking.
Jus - Hi and welcome to you and Ella. Don't worry about having Ella go to bed a exact time. I figure as long as the feed or sleep is roughly around bubs routine then I am happy(I give 30mins grace either side of the intened time). Eventually they all slip into a routine that seems to suite the whole family iykwim. Re the 4 am waking: Is Ella hungry or just waking? It could be that Ella is going through a developement period (as in learning to roll) or she maybe getting ready for solids. I know you are not supposed to give food until 6 months but some bubs want solids before hand and constant early morning waking is a good sign that bub is ready. In saying this I would not rush, I would give it a week or more.
Rory - Hi and glad to see you pop in. I hope Ollie doesn't have a bad time of it with his teething.
Nic - Glad you had a better night.
Yay I successfully helped Loren extend her sleep!!!! Hopefully she'll sleep for a good 1.5 hours instead of just 45 mins.
I really have to start loosing weight. I got up and did a 25 min walk on the treadmill this morning...but then I ate some cake at playgroup

Michelle - dont worry with mirani's stats.... i think ash still takes the cake LOL his are Weight:7.5kg Length: 65cm Head: 44.5cm - that was at 3 months!! so over a month behind her and his head circumfrence was off the scale in the percentile range.
Ash has his 4 month check next week and hes easily gonna be over 8kg!
Alicia - i have a set bed time for ash, it was 8.30 but since day light savings its moved to 7.30 which im very happy to do as i go to bed with him. and within half hour hes usually always asleep, as for waking up in the morning, that was always about 7:30ish but that also changed to 6am.
Buzzie - your big little man sounds just like Alex at that age and Alex is just over two and nearly 1m tall. Warning in advance they grow out of clothes & shoes really quick we have to buy new shoes every 2 months and he wears size 3-4 in clothes mostly.
Bek - Cake sounds yummymight have to go and raid my cupboard now
Nic - Great to hear you are getting some good sleep happening & what lovely boys looking after themselves and letting mummy sleep. Was wondering how old were your boys when you started letting them fish - DP is itching to take Alex but i'm a little iffy about the hooks & that.
RoryRory - oh the thought of even just a few hours of no kids - just bliss - tho would miss them like crazy - have a nice trip away
Alicia - Both of mine are in bed by 7.30pm Vicky's feed to sleep & Alex has stories & songs so is asleep by 8pm. Both wake up between 5.30am & 6.30am atm.
Louise - Sorry to here things have been a little crazy hope it all settles back down for you soon.
Haven't got the new pics up yet as batteries in camera needed recharging and ended up on the phone for an 1hr with my sis last night. Everything pretty sweet here just the usual insanity oh and Vicky rolled yesterday
Have a great day everyone
LOL at these big boys!
My DS is just over 2, and he'd only be about 12kg! (he probably should have been rear facing in the car for the whole 2 years LOL). Last height check he was about 84cm I think, that was about 4 months ago. Morgan - sounds like Alex is going to be very tall - they are half their adult height at just over 2. I think you do it at around 2yr 4mth. DS will probably be like me & DH, around 175cm. He's been following his own curves just sitting under the 50th percentile in weight & length.
Hi Girls,
I have been MIA that long that it took me ages to find the post!
Hope everyone is doing well - have not had time to catch up on everyones news but will attempt to do this soon.
Bronte has some good days & some not so good days - settling/ wind issues mainly (I suspect). I don't really have her on a set routine which is freaking me out a little but reassuring to know that some of you girls are the same.
I have my IL's out visiting from Scotland so they are loving spending time with Bronte & DS Damon. Once they leave again you should hear a bit more from me.
Hope I haven't missed anything major & that everyone & their bubs are doing really well!
Hi Mummy2Two
Miss DD Sara was 93 cms at 2yo and 12kg. I think that is pretty tall for a girl. Atm is going out of size 2 tops but we are still in size 1 and 2 pants.
OMG - I just read my last post and I can't believe how many typos I made...I think I was distracted

Wow Bek Sara is going to be a really tall girl.
Hi Mum2Two i hope you have a really good time with the scottish in laws thats lovely that they have been able to come over & see you and the kids.
Liz - Alex is just over 15kg and he is 2yr & 3 months. I am glad he was 6 weeks early (2.4kg & 50cm long) as i shudder to think what he would of been full term. Funniest thing is my entire side of the family struggle to get past 5ft 3.
Just put a couple of new pics up too.
