The things we do to get a spoonful of food into bubs mouth hey!!!!

Miss Loren decided that 5am was a great time to wake up. Then Sara was yelling out and crying from her bed. So I put Sara in bed with DH and tried to resettle Loren but she wanted to party. So we got up. At least I have steamed some apple for morning tea for her and got a load of washing on and did some internet banking all before 6.30am.

Loren is on the floor atm and she is crawling in her sleeping bag...woops she just spewed everywhere....

I can't wait to move out from my IL's place. Generally they are great but my FIL is constantly on my back about the kids. Every time I get the lower fat milk from the fridge to give to Sara he has to comment about it not being good enough for her. Then he has to make mention about Loren's cold hands or Sara may taken off her shoes and socks and her feet must be cold .Bl**dy Nora!! sorry for the whinge.

I hated living with my Il's thankfully we didn't have any children when we did. heck we rushed into buying this house just to get out :lol: (stll love my smal house though its home) Kids hands are always cold.. and as for shoes mine only wear them when we go out lol.. your FIL would have a field day with me heheheh

I did not like Olivia last night.. I left her to cry for 10 minutes as I wanted to throttle her.. She woke at 9:50 which is fine but it was 12:30 before she finally went back to sleep. I was exhausted, my head was swaying.. Thankfully she slept till 7:30 this morning so I still got some great sleep.. but last night GGRRR and of course this mrning she is being just beautiful lol..

ps Isaac seems ok this morning.. no dizzies yet

Bek - Tallon's hands and feet are always freezing. He just does not keep socks or his uggboots on for long. He actually followed me out to the clothesline the other day without shoes on (he's normally pretty good when going outside to put his gumboots or something on) and he complained of sore feet LOL. They must have been so cold they were aching. i know the feeling coz i threw on my summer sandals one night to go down to mums to collect her mail and bring her bin in (she's on holidays atm) and my feet ached for about an hour afterwards.

Kayla is sooo on the verge of crawling, but she's just not getting there. I seem to remember saying this about Tallon too LOL. Perhaps I just need to find the right incentive for her. Tallon's was a laptop on the floor - he crawled towards that. I wonder what little missy would go for.

Well, sleep was a little better last night. I think I got a 4hr stretch in there somewhere. I gave her one solids meal yesterday afternoon. I'm still not sure it's the solids.. i think it's probably more the age than anything.

OK.. must go.. Tallon wants me to read a book.. and I'm starving. Talk later!

Oops sorry to keep you all in suspense ladies....
I am, according to the test, NOT pregnant *dances and whoops woohoo!!!* But Ty didn't come up on the test for a few weeks and still no AF so I'm not getting too excited.... pray for me ;)
I have had a seriously bad day (hence no post until now). Ty has done nothing but scream. Was awke crying every half hour last night. Would not go to sleep during the day. It's become a bad problem- only sleeps during the day after half an hour of screaming, then whimpers himself to sleep like I'm hurting him. It's breaking my heart :( I ended up at thr clinic today bawling my eyes out. The CHN- one i haven't seen before- has referred me to Trisiliian and 'demonstrated' today the settling method we will have to use. She popped him in his pram and tried to pat him to sleep. He screamed uncontrollably for a agood five minutes. I cried. She told me not to pick him up. I didn't. Then she ushered me out of her office into a busy shopping centre, telling me to just walk him until he went to sleep and don't pick him up. I couldn't get out of there fast enough. I picked up my sobbing, shaking baby boy and stood there and cried my eyes out. I'm so angry at her. Ty was hysterical. I'm angry at myelf too. I should have put a stop to it when he started to get into a state. I shouldn't have gone there in the first place. i know all the settling methods they use and I've tried them all. They don't work for Ty. And leaving him to cry like that was just cruel. So now I have a stressed, overtired baby, I'm still losing my mind and I'm expecting a call from Trisillian in a few days and I'm going to have to explain that I don't really want to go there.
I feel better now. Sorry for the anti climax pregnant news- I'll keep you updated on AF. If I found out I was pregnant today I might just throw myself off a cliff. Too exhausted to do personals. Going to have a good cry and come back later :(

oh Lori what a horrible day for you! I would say that good new on the BFN but i guess youll keep us posted if it changes.

:hug: What a horrible experience.. I hope Ty settles down for you.. May I make a suggestion. just lay down with him during the day. Get on top of the sleep issue by getting him to catch up on some sleep and you too and then work on the settling issues.. I have found with my kids they get harder and harder to settle the more tired they are.. (steps down on the ideas now ;))

Congrats on the BFN lol.. fingers crossed it stays that way (if thats what you want)

I have had a pretty tiring day.. Olivia whiny on and off.. Isaac sick with headaches. They hit him hard today :( Jacob annoying the heck out of me, he isn't feeling well but won't sit still. Ethan was great.. He went out riding with his mates.. and they all came here aagghh. 4 extra kids today lol..

Well I got 2 down 2 to go :)

OMG, I feel like I have a newborn again! Monique has been waking up every night for about 4 weeks now and I am a tired mummy. Usually she wakes 3 times and has a feed at least one of those times and a nappy change. Very rarely I am up only once for a feed. This is a shock to the system after having her sleep through from 6 weeks old. Oh well, I knew it couldn't last but when will she sleep through again?

We started solids a couple of weeks ago and she is getting into it now. She is still not sure about carrot, not even with apple in it. I have a poo question. Monique has really thick, sticky poos and has made her bottom quite red (she has never had a rash before). Are they supposed to be quite thick? We were getting worried because she took days and days to poo after she started solids.

Olivias poos are the same.. I think solids have something to do with it.. and same with the rash.. she gets a red bum but I am not sure if it is from the constant wiping or the poop...

Ok. Had a cry and a mars bar and a cup of tea and Ty is finally asleep so feeling better now. I was, despite my whinging, a little bit dissapointed when I got the BFN- but today has reminded me why I really don't want another baby just yet!
Nic- Hope the other 2 go down easily. And I hope Issac and Jacob both feel better soon.I do lay down with Ty during the day and we co sleep at night. Up till now tha's worked really well. He fed heaps at night but I could handle that. But now he just screams when we try and put him to sleep during the day no matter what I do- pat him, hold him, rock him, feed him. So we get him back up (before he gets hysterical, beacuse he won't even cry himself off- just get to the point where he's sobbing so hard he coughs and hiccups). And he wakes up crying at night- doesn't want a feed or his dummy or a cuddle... just wants to cry :( don't know what's wrong with him. We're off to see the GP tomorrow and get him checked out.
I'm going to bed early and curling up with a good book (and probably Ty within the next hour or so).

Does he sleep on his tummy or back? I know sometimes Olivia is inconsolable and I just leave the room and she stops crying almost right away and goes to sleep within 5 minutes.. No Idea why she does that though

Lori - :hug::hug: you poor thing and Ty too....give him a big hug from us too. I know that those methods do work for some people but you sound like us and its too heart wrenching to listen to them...plus they are only babies for such a short time. I hope Ty is better tomorrow...maybe his teeth are hurting him...i give Vicky a couple of the Hylands Teething Relief tablets which are a homeopathic remedy and it seems to help her. And fingers crossed for you that the BFN stays that way.

Tinsel - we've got those sticky ones too...might just be cause their systems are developing a bit more as Vicky doesn't have solids atm

Well its been an interesting couple of days as i just about lost my voice (horrid bad cold) and could only whisper at the kids...that was sooo much fun NOT! Anyway almost better now. Have put a couple of new pics up too.

Lori - You know we will all listen and send hugs anytime you want to whinge or vent - it is what we are for :-)

Morgan - Colds here too. Both Olivia and I have been sick and miserable. Last night was terrible for sleep as she was so stuffy nosed and kept waking. Tonight we have got phone books under the two top legs of her cot, hoping that the raised head will help her breathe better in her sleep *fingers crossed*

Tonight the little Miss had chicken and corn for dinner (we were having homemade chicken and sweet corn soup - yummy) and she absolutely loved it! It is the first time she has tried meat and I wasn't going to push it at all, but I didn't have to, she wanted more and more! Hopefully the full tummy also helps with sleep tonight.

Off to bed for me.

Oh Lori - What a day *hugs*. Dunno what that nurse was thinking - if Ty is out of sorts, not sure why she would launch into controlled crying. Poor little man. Was Ty a refluxy bub? The nurse told me that teething can bring back reflux, so I just thought I'd put it out there as a possibility for the constant crying. Could be teething, reflux, development. I'm wondering if Kayla's unsettledness lately is due to being on the verge of crawling.

Well, Kayla is sooooo nocturnal these days. She's been up now for a couple of hours soooo happy and playing and rolling around the floor. I wanna go to bed! LOL. I've tried putting her down a couple fo times, but it's a no go.. she just wants to be up and playing. Hopefully she'll give me a few hours sleep when she does go down. But it seems to be this time of night that she gets her best play in.. No doubt she'll do her first crawl late one night. LOL.

OK, must go.. she's now on her own in the loungeroom coz DH has gone to shower.. and she's really getting around with this rolling!

Well we had a reasonably good night last night, so I can't complain this morning. Ty woke up when we went to bed at 10, then came into bed with us and fed once at about 2, then slept till seven. He's having a nap now but it was a 20 min screaming marathon to put him to sleep.
Nic- he sleeps on his side. If i leave him to try and go to sleep by himslef he just screams himself to the point where he literally vomits :(
Morgan- how cute is Vicky sitting up? not sure if it's his teeth, the chn doesn't think so but I'm not sure i trust her after what she did to Ty. Teething gel doesn't seem to help so :dunno:
Alicia- that soup sounds yummy :) Ty loves his chicken too. Hope your colds get better.
Liz- hasn't had reflux. But I'm thinking that maybe the almost being about to crawl might have something to do with it, and the fact that he gets so frustrated with not being able to get the things he wants to get. Maybe wonder weeking? Do they have a wonder week at about six/seven months? I'm just telling myself this can't go on forever- it will only be a couple of weeks at most.
Hope you all got a goods night's sleep in. We're off to the GP's later today. I really don't think there is much physically wrong with him, but can't hurt to check.

Well Olivia slept till 7 again so you would think I would have got 7 hours sleep. *sigh* I kept waking up.. Olivia yelled out in her sleep at 4 Jacob woke at 5 coughing and then Simon woke me at 6 when he got home from work...

Simon is on days off now so I can catch up on sleep if need be.. Or go to bed and leave him to play till midnight with his princess hehehehe

nic - if it's any encouragement, Olivia is eating better than ella. If she sees there's food on the spoon she won't suck it, only if there isn't! We've had success with rockmelon pieces & banana pieces & a fruity custard the chn recommended (didn't want to give her that). sometimes she'll suck on rusks, so I'm making them at home & soaking them in sweet potato 'soup' before I bake them in the hope she gets more nutrients in. the only way i can get food in is to trick her. she's so not impressed when I do it! the food she does like seems to give her a sore bottom, so i'm not wanting to give it all the time. oh well, she won't starve. i've got heaps of milk. just gotta get her to put on more weight.

hope the babies do some sleeping tonight. ella actually went from 11 til 5 last night, but I was awake. oh well...

Olivia is downstairs with Daddy enjoying her first Camp fire lol. We were meant to go camping but with Isaacs headaches and other snotty nosed boys we have decided to give it a miss :( We are going next weekend without fail so thats ok..

Olivia is yelling at the fire and making lots of noise in general. very funny... We have thebrazier going so the boys could Roast marshmallows.. I came up cus I was feeling irratated. i think I am to tired to enjoy it.. Even just the boys talking was bugging me.. I am not PMsy just tired I think..

hey curious qn cus i only thought of it tonight.. Maybe should post to general forum.. But after a tubal I know you ovulate cus all the bits are stil ther but should I get al the symptoms?? TMi but you know how down there gets um.... :blush: Oh i don't know just how it gets at O time.. anyways I thought that was sposed to stop.. and i get crampy like sharp pains right down low.. I never had any symptoms before the tubal but I get them now ...

Anyways Olivia has just been brought upstairs and she is in her bouncy bounce thing and yeling at me :lol:

On the rusks i slice up wholemeal bread and dry it out in the oven on a really low temp 120 i think - you can remove the crusts but i never bothered with Alex.

Sorry Nic cant help with that one except i used to get that lovely cramping before but AF hasn't returned yet so who knows now. I'd ask in the general forum area.

Lori - i hope you have a good night tonight and i found that the teething gel was a waste of time seriously give those tablets a go lots of ladies here on BB swear by them as well.

Well we had a good day nothing interesting but then my little pain the rear daughter decided not to go to bed but bf for a hour and give herself the worst bellyache...i got super cranky and left DP to get her off to sleep while i put Alex to bed and i couldn't stand him touching me as i was so wound up and cause Vicky had been stroking my face & fiddling with me for an hour :( Well she is asleep now so hopefully will stay that way for a few more hours.

hope you all got some sleep last night. ella had me up at 4 for half an hour with a pooey nappy. why can't she just poo in the day time? in fact, she did. bonus poo. She seems to do a few in succession. are any other babies like that? but then she slept til 7. woohoo.

the rusks, I make by slicing wholemeal bread in 4. might take crusts off next time. baby love recipe. 1 or 2 min in microwave on high, let them dry. / in slow oven for an hour. I did both microwave & oven. i might be dumb, but I couldn't work out whether you did one of the methods or both. anyhow, they turned out ok & cheaper than the store bought ones, specially when she chucks em on the floor so fast. yeah, i do recycle. she's gotta get some germs sometime or other ... mother of the year. lol.

Jus - lol - yep, Kayla does her poos in succession too. We still go a few days between, but then it's a day of pooing! And mother of the year - sorry, that goes to me ;) Kayla's always chomping on grubby toys and I pick her spoon & rusks off the floor and give em back. Her dummies have NEVER been sterilised, only ever swished under TAP water, even after being dropped out of the car on the road or something LOL. Gross. But hey.. my kids are soooo rarely sick I think it's safe to say it's done them good! hehehe.

Homemade rusks - are they hard? I just don't want Kayla biting a big chunk of it off, which is why I quite like the bought ones. But yeah.. they do get wasted.

Solids are going very slowly here. Now that I've slowed it down, she doesn't show much interest! She's still waking at night, but we're back to just feeding and going straight back to sleep, which I can handle :)

hey liz, you make me feel so much better. ella hasn't been sick yet, so we can't be doing too much wrong. & yeah, if she's eating the toys on the floor, why can't she eat the spoon too! our gp only ever rinses the dummy under the tap when we've dropped it at the surgery. Plus I read an article about how you don't really need to sterilise, just clean thoroughly. lack of exposure to enough germies is even linked to diabetes, would you believe!!!

the rusks aren't too hard, tho they are kind of rough. i though dd wouldn't like that but she didn't seem to mind. they do break if dropped. they go quite mushy when they suck on them, so in our case that's good, because I reckon ella might get more food down the throat that way (won't eat anything. had a tanty this morning cos i tried to feed her... i didn't expect tanties this early!!! can't wait til she's 2).

Hmmm I may have to try this homemade rusk bizzo. Mother of the year, I'm applying too- rusks, spoons, toys, evryhting goes back in the mouth. Went to the pub for lunch the other day and had Ty sitting on my lap and he gummed the grotty outside pub table. Eewww.
Ty had three- count 'em- sleeps yesterday, one for a whole hour and a half. And even went down for the last one without screaming. And he's asleep at the moment with no screaming. Yay!! But we had a shocker of a night last night, up every hour or so again. Doing the big step tonight of putting him in his own room. I cvan guarentee he'll end up in our bed again but it's one step in the right direction (I hope). I figure we can only try and if it doesn't work, then he can come back to our room.
Off to mum's group today, yay! Hope you all had a good night's sleep :) I am planning on enjoying the sunshine today too, it's lovely here- bit cold but hey, I'll take what I can get :)
ETA- Jus, our babies will be angels by the time they're two, remember? ;) We get massive tanties here too. And there is actually a disease called Kawasaki Syndrome that bubs can get from not enough exposure to germs and too much exposure to anti- bac products (I only know this because Kelly Preston and John Travolta's baby has it- I saw it on Oprah :) )

LOL at the pub table. Ick. I thought I was bad letting Tallon chomp on the shopping trolley handle when he was smaller LOL. Actually I didn't "let" him, was just impossible to stop, but I never bothered with those cover things you can get for the shopping trolley.

Lori - hope putting Ty in his own room works. I've wondered the same thing, if I moved Kayla away from my bed if she'd sleep better.. but I just can't do it LOL. It's so easy to just reach over and pick her up for a feed without having to get out of bed. Perhaps I'll move her in a few months when it's warmer :) But even then it'll only be to a normal cot still in our room, eventually she'll move in with Tallon :)

pub table - ewww. Maria often puts her finger in Sofia's mounth to see if there are teeth (she actually can apply the teething gel quite well)

Ash is doing so well with the crawling, hes up on his knees and pushes forward with his legs but the hands arent moving with him lol
Its so funny tho cos he pushes on his hands and and on his feet.. so his doing push ups only his hands and feet touching the ground!! very strong boy.. hehe

Well nothing else intresting here, got his 6months check in 1/2 hour. cant wait to see the nurses face when she sees him over 10kg. - i saw a little boy walking in the shops, he looks like he just started cos he was a little wobbly, and Ash was bigger than him! :lol:

Back from my apt. apparently i need to get my butt into gear with the solids. and stop giving him custard for breakfast..lol so ill start porridge and fig tomorrow :)
His head was - if ppl know what im talking about with there books, 4 boxes off the last reading which was already over 2 boxes off the scale and she was a little consurned with that, as the head should slow down and the body grows, but as all his stats are really big she wasnt hugely consurned, but wanted me to mention it to my GP.

Well the little man has carked it after his apt so im off to start dinner ... hope everyones having a good day...

Hello all

Thought I better pop in and say hello to everyone, been hetic here with my partner starting a new job and working away from home 2 weeks away and 1 week home, he just went back on wednesday morning :( While he was home he did more of our tiling so things are getting there hallway is nearly done and the lounge is over half done lots of fiddly stuff to do yet and then the grouting joy joy... I can't help much unless Olivia is asleep which isnt always the case.... Have to get as much as we can done before she starts moving around...Not that it will happen anytime soon (the moving part) she really makes no effort to roll onto her tummy and if I put her onto her tummy she will roll straight back onto her back...

She is having solids every so often not a regualr thing by any means some days she will have none and others she will have a biscuit to chew on or some purreed veges or custard and some sorta fruit... She is now refusing to take a bottle even with EBM in so now when I will leave her with my mum if I want to go horse riding mum will have to find alternative ways to make her drink little fussy moooo she is lol...

I have to most gorgeous photo here of olivia is I knew how to shrink it I would use it in my signature...

Buzzie wow Ash is steaming along he is going to a solid boy.... Olivia wouldnt be 7kg yet...

Rusks I havent given her one as yet and I really dont think she needs one... No signs of teeth..

Olivia loves her jolly jumper the great thing is that it has been well used by my other children and also was lent to my SIL for her 2 so it has now done 5 children... and still looks like new... (Even had the hook in the ceiling still :D

What else have I misseed probably heaps but I just cant keep up...

Lauren- wow!! Ty is 65 cm at last check. And 7.5 kilos.
Liz- :( it's pretty sad, having Ty is his own room and I'm dreading the night feeds- guarenteed he will end up back in bed with us. Wouldn't do it except I'm hoping he'll sleep a bit better and i'm figuring is it doesn't work he can always move back.

Solids have been stopped here again :rolleyes: She was getting belly aches so we are going to stop again for a while. *sigh* But she slept well last night.. 8:30 till 4am.. instead of waking at 10pm and fluffing and pooing her way till midnight.. and she seemed really settled today and tonight...

Well, I worked out how to get Kayla to have her food - don't breastfeed her first! She's soooo not interested if she isn't hungry. I seem to recall I did this with Tallon too, now that I think about it. I know we're supposed to give breastmilk first, but so long as it doesn't replace the milk feeds I'm sure it won't hurt :) It certainly didn't make Tallon drop any of his feeds.. so I'm thinking it'll be the same for Kayla.

I spose I should book in for a 6 mth check huh. She's corrected 6 1/2 months I think. Should try and remember to ring up tomorrow. It's a pain they can't do it at the drop-in, coz I'm too disorganised to ring in advance and make an appointment! Which reminds me - I've lost the cards with our next dr appts on them.. I've got an appt for needles sometime this month, and I'm pretty sure we've got a paed appt too. Altho that one probably isn't until 9 months. I need to rind and find out. I hate using the phone LOL.

Well, I should go, I'm sure there's something around the house that needs doing (whether I can be bothered is another thing!).

Nic- Haroula is in Greece until the end of July visiting family - lucky thing!

Nothing much happening here at the moment. Olivia and I are just cuddled up in bed together while DH is out at a meeting for his car club. I have been watching episodes of 21 Jump St and peerving on a young Johnny Depp so might go back to that for a bit more....

wow i have missed 2 whole threads. Ethan has been sick, still is at the moment. He is teething really bad and has mouth ulcers from what the doctor has no idea. I am wondering if it could be from the amount he has been throwing up recently.
Aside from all that he has gained weight and as of last fortnight just under 8kg at 6 months. He hasnt been able to have his immunisations yet but hopefully he can have them tomorrow
Better run, trying to plan the chocolate party while he is actually having some sleep
