Jus - im glad you liked the "mouse" story, we all still have a laugh when it comes up.

All you girls are making me want to get up and clean my house - actually its not too bad i do a big clean once a week so its clean but untidy...5 mins of my boy being up and it looks like a disaster zone *sigh*.
We had a great day today, met up with some of the other Brissy mums & dads and their lovely kids. Alex exhausted himself in the playground and Vicky thought everyone was a crack up. Mind you they were shattered on the way home and the little darlings were asleep by 6.30am.

I have a question - Olivia has started pretending to choke. It is kind of hard to describe but it's like she is screaming high pitched without sound and her face goes red and she starts choking or coughing. I am pretty sure she is doing it on purpose but it is kind of freaky, I'm hoping its just a phase or something new she has discivered that she is trying out. MIL thinks it is her struggling to talk. Any ideas? She is not upset by it and in fact seems happy to do it. It is pretty embarassing when you are out though!

Kayla has started making horrible coughing sounds - like a seal! Sometimes sounds like choking. I'd say they're just discovering noises they can make and will move on to something new eventually hehe.

Omg Alicia, Ash has started doing that too. he does it when he having a tantie!!
Speaking on tantrums, Ash has just started today, arching his back when i put him in the car seat. Anyone else doing that yet?
Hes such a perfect boy but the one thing he just doesnt like doing is being in the car... hmmm i might go put more toys in there maybe.... OMG i know ill buy a dvd player and put the wiggles on.... LOL

For those breastfeeding still,does anyones bubs react to what you eat still? i had mushrooms for lunch when i went out yesterday and Ash gets the WORST tummy issues, i thought he would be over it, i guess that off my menu for good!
Im gonna book him in with a chiro tomorrow,hopefully itll help his wind and his back keeps cracking too when i pick him up :( Thanks for recomending it jus.

i brought Ash a new wiggles dvd today, new songs to learn.. hehe

Kayla has tummy issues, but I think its solids more than what i'm eating *shrug*. Hadnt really thought about it TBH.

Olivia was good.. All the rellies just loved her.. She barely slept during the day although her and I snuck off for a nap yesterday afternoon hehehe... she slept reasonably well at night but sleeping through doesn't seem to happen here anymore

Af finally arrived after a months break :D of course it arrived Saturday :rolleyes: Couldn't have waited one more day but was ok..

Kids in general were fantastic.. They saved up all the screaming till we got home this afternoon.. OMg I was ready to kill them.. Jacob was screaming non stop Olivia was having a major melt down and I ended up putting Olivia in her cot Jacob in his bed and walking outside.. After I had calmed down I went and got Olivia and I felt so meann :( she was sobbing.. and then she filled her nappy so that was obviously the problem.. but she still cuddled in so she doesn't hate me,.

Anyways I am thinking about going to bed soon.. Simon is back to work tomorrow..

I ended up washing the dishes at 3am.. thats how bad it was.. lol

welcome back nic, sorry to hear you were washing dishes at 3 am. Glad to know I'm not the only one who does that sort of thing. The way I figure is you're awake anyway, so you might as well get something done that's a stress! Then at least something will be done by morning, even tho sleeping wasn't going to happen. Hope you have a much better night tonight.

I still have to be careful with what I eat Buzzie, mostly stay away from heavy garlic & stuff, but can't have any caffeine basically. ate 4 squares of chocolate one day & then ella wouldn't sleep. Good luck with the chiro.

Ella's arching her back with tanties for putting in the car, and I know Ty does that too. Can't believe it's all started so early.

Had the most massive poo explosion here this morning, and after I'd bathed her & dressed her, found poo had gotten on to the clean clothes so had to change her (read 'wrestle' her) all over again! Aargh. Been waiting for it for days, and she's getting stinky with the 'solids'. What little she eats. Amazingly enough she likes Chicken broth, so I'm very excited about that, as that should get some protein & iron into her!

Gotta go - she's awake.

I didn't log on yesterday and was worried I'd miss heaps :) Kind of glad it's been so quiet :)

Nic- Course we missed you :) Sux that you had a bad nigth but at least the dishes are done, right? ;) We actually had an amazing good night- Ty slept from 1am till 7am :cheer:

Alicia- We get that too. And sometimes Ty will tense up and his face will go allred and he'll grunt. At first I thought he was trying to poo but now I think he's just doing it for the fun of it. And he's started making really weird noises in the back of his throat- like an aaaahhhh sound but really low and drawn out.

Lauren- As Jus said, we get massive tanties here going into the car seat, or the high chair, or the pram... anything where he sits up and gets strapped in. He'd much rather be stretched out on the floor. Distraction is my only technique for coping with it- either with a toy or his cup or dh, if I distract him enough I can get him in. I haven't really noticed any foods that affect Ty ever, but I am bad :redface: I have caffeine and chocolate and garlic and all that bad stuff (actually, they reckon garlic is good for improving your milk supply cause it makes bubs suck harder).

Jus- You Mother of the Year you, I'm going to buy you a badge that says that ;) Had to laugh at the coke bottle. We have a stack of expensive toys and Ty's favorite is a $3 rubber hammer that dh almost gave to the dog when I bought it home cause it look like a dog toy. I'm not sure what's worse- the small everyday poos we get now or the massive bf explosion we used to get every 4 days or so.

We had a lovely weekend. Shopping on Saturday- we went to the local growers market to get our fruit and veg for the fortnight. Bought Ty some fresh strawberries which he loooved, especially mixed with his yoghurt or in the mesh feeder. I worked yesterday which was great fun and then we actually had a nice dinner with the mil last night (shock!!). I fell asleep on their lounge with Ty, which was nice too.
Ty is over his measles but now has a cold, poor little thing. So we're stuck at home again. The good thing about being stuck at home is I've become a domestic goddess- cooking up a storm. Dinner's been cooked every night and I've been baking! I'm going to make a cake with those strawberries later today, once the housework is done. Hoping Ty gets better soon cause i really need to go and see the CHN and explain I really don't want to go to Tresillian- they rang the other day to book me in for September :rolleyes: good thing I'm not really on edge.... could be a while before I got help!!

Better night here last night.. just one wake up and only for 40 minutes..

We lost all internet and phone here today.. 4 hours i was without.. cable broke somewhere apparently..

Jus: I had a poo spolsion the other day too.. right up to the neck.. was so gross.. then Jacob had his ver first poo accident in the car .. Poor Simon was dry retching when he got Jacob out of the car.. I was PMSL!! it was disgusting though heheh..

Hey girls.

Not much here. Tallon now has a cough and a drippy nose. Kayla got a temp yesterday, but nothing else has eventuated.. no more temp or anything. *shrug*. She's booked in for needles tomorrow, can't decide whether to still do it. She seems fine.

Sleep - not fantastic. But at least just having a quick feed and back to sleep. We haven't had bouts of crying for a while through the night.

We had the 6-8 mth check today. Everything is fine. The nurse asked if she can recognise objects yet? huh?? Bit young isn't it? She reckons if I name an object she should recognise it. *shrug*. She didn't seem concerned when I said I don't think she does. She knows her name and stuff, but if I say book, I don't think she really knows it. I've been doing a few signs with her already, like eat & ball. Perhaps I'm not giving my baby enough credit hehe.

Take care everyone. I should vacuum. So paranoid about this mouse LOL. Haven't seen it since my big clean out. Maybe I scared it off. But I'm determined not to leave anything around except for the food in our trap.

Hope that pesky mouse is gone..

Olivia had 2 by 2 hour sleeps today.. she is very happy now.. I am ready to throw Jacob in thr wheelie bin though .. So sick of being screamed at by a almost 3 yr old GRR.. ?how do we force a sleep on him....

well might cook an early dinner.. Jacob is now falling asleep on the couch **sigh** so eary dinner then they can have toast and a milo before bed..

well hey, I don't think Ella even knows her name yet, altho she responds if we call her (usually) but I assumed she just heard our voices.

Having a lovely time still with Ella sleeping like a trooper (during the day anyhow). Dunno how long it will last so will enjoy it while it does.

Hmmm, recognising objects? I'm pretty sure Ty doesn't do that yet. He does respond to his name, but I think that's just the tone of our voices- he responds to about a hundred different nicknames as well.

Jus- Pork chops in apple cider sauce sounds really yummy...

Liz- Hope Kayla's needles go ok (if you get them). Ty has a shocking cough and a very blocked nose.

Morgan- No, I wasn't aware of that. Strawberries aren't listed as a food to be avoided in any of the literature I've got.

Morgan: I swear i almost ran away between Olivia and Jacob I had had enough!! I just wis I could force him to sleep.. I just don't know how to make him. A movie or a kids show won't make him sit anymore. he won't lay on a bed at all.. and even going for a drive at possible sleep time doesn't work anymore...

Just double checked my books (the 600 different ones from the CHN about starting solids) and it doesn't have strawberries anywhere, but it doesn't mention citrus fruits, mangoes or kiwis either. Maybe they have different recomendations in different states? I know the NZ books say you can start smooth peanut butter at 9 months, so maybe everywhere's different. Oh well, no harm, no foul, as they say. I'm not hugely worried about about allergies as he's fully breastfed and we have no family history of any sort of allergies or exzma (sp?). Also, CHN reckons if you are having bubs immunised you should try eggs at least once, the white and yolk seperately, before they get their MMR cause that needle has an egg base (I can't remember if it's whites or yolks but). There's also some research (i'll have a look and see if I can find it to post it) that reckons that delaying the introduction of certain foods can actually increase the risk of allergies, not decrease them. But Nic, I'm with you- peanuts and fish are a bit iffy for my liking- and I'm scared of fishy smelling poos ;)

Hope you all had a good night and hope your older ones didn't play up too much Morgan and Nic. Ty has a new game- rolling over in his cot till he hits the side with his head then giggling hysterically. I wince every time he does it- it makes such a bang- but he thinks it's hilarious. I don't think we're far from crawling- he was caterpillar shuffling himself backwards across the floor last night and managed to go from one side of the room to the other :)
Well Ty's cough is still really bad so I'm going to take him to the GP today- no appointment so we might be in for quite a wait. Wish me luck...

ETA- Does anyone know the rules with essential oils and bfing? Are you supposed to avoid lavender and ecualyptus?

Re allergen foods - I tend to wait until after 12 months, but only coz there's plenty of other stuff to give them until then hehe. It's only 6 mths or less to wait. But I agree there's different ideas everywhere, and they never had these rules years ago, and less allergies years ago! We don't have any history of allergies or anything either and DS has been fine with everything. Hope Kayla's the same!

Re essential oils - I think it depends on how you're using them. I would think lavender & eucalyptus would be ok. I think you can pretty much use most of the usual oils in a burner, but I'm not sure about applying it to the skin. You'd want it very very diluted if your applying it to the skin. I'd keep it under 1% EO which is what it needs to be to put on bub, so I'd do the same for myself.

I cancelled the needles for today. Kayla has had a couple of temps. Dunno if hers will develop into much being breastfed & all :) I'm sick now tho.. stuffed up nose.. argh. We don't usually get hit hard with these things, so hopefully it'll just stay an annoying blocked nose for a few days.

Lori - we have no history and Alex reacted to egg whites but once he hit the 18 month mark he was fine with them and he does get little outbreaks of Eczema again no family history anyway just wanted to pass info on. Hope you dont have to wait too long at the Drs and that Ty's cough isn't too bad

Well major crap night :( Alex started crying around 9ish, resettled then just as i was going to bed at 10 he started crying again, his tummy was bugging him again *sigh*. Then he puked in the bucket - i hate puke. He just couldn't settle back so i set up donnas & pillows in the lounge and finally around 1 he went to sleep to then wake every half hour asking for the bucket then 30 secs later lying back down and going to sleep. Vicky woke at 2am so i got DP to feed and settle her and the doofus forgot to change her nappy and wondered why she was unsettled for the rest of the wee hours (sorry no pun intended). So im hanging out now for her to have her next feed so i can then make a pot of real coffee.
Nic - i put dvd's on for alex during the day and he lies there with his pillow and doona and normally will have a hour or more nap.

Wow that was amazing- we only waited 30 seconds to see the doctor. Apparently Ty is just continuing with the measles symptons. Doc said to take him back if it's not better in a few days. Double checked the strawberry issue with my GP- he said if there is no family history and bubs is bf,it shouldn't be an issue. The only food he recomends waiting on is peanuts.

Liz- Thanks for the oil info. I have to but a new oil burner but didn't want to bother if I couldn't use it. I've found burning a bit of eucalypt (sp?) is great for head colds.

Morgan- Just for curiousity, did Alex have a reaction to the MMR (if you immunised him)? What allergy symptons did he have?

Ash had his needles today, he was very good, so was mummy hehe
We had mothers group yesterday and one of the girls found out 2 weeks ago she was 20 weeks pregnant and never knew! so her daughter would of been 2 months old when she concieved! OMg! Made me so maternal it wasnt funny! now i get to watch her belly grow and i miss mine LOL aaaaahhh im crazy.

Things have got so crazy between me and my ex, i am still so angry over the last fight we had i was seconds away from telling his parents just to p!ss him off, but then a friend who works in family law said he grandparents have legal rights to see him and if rob (ex) didnt want ash in Qld he could take me to court to bring him back. i think someone here said that happened to there friend. Well its freaked me out and i dunno what to do now. im sick of him getting away with everything! its bad enough he only pays $28 a month in child support cos he wont do his taxes ggggrrrrhhhh!

Oh and i caught up with Trish on monday - omg Abbey is such a sweetie! But her computer has carked it so she wont be online till its fixed....

Lori - no he didnt react to MMr but we did leave it until he was closer to 2 and he was only sensitive to egg whites for a short while which was him coming up in a rash around his mouth if he had anything with a large egg content, this might have also been due to him being a prem *shrug*. It doesn't bother him anymore though which is the good thing.
Lauren - What a little champ. I hope things improve for you with your ex, not pleasant for you and i hope he sorts his finances and does the right thing by you & Ash.

Hi everyone!!

I really need to get my act together and get on here more often!! Very excited because DH, Summer and I are all going to Bali in less than 2 weeks now!! Woo hoo! Fingers crossed she goes alright on the plane!

Little update on Summer ... 2 teeth now!! Has had an ear infection too ... argh. Wasnt very nice. Lots of pulling on the ears and high temp so i took her to the emerg. but they couldnt find anything wrong. I wasnt satsified so took her to a GP the next day and he said both her ears were inflammed and irritated. Just shows, MOTHERS DO KNOW BEST HA. Lol!

No crawling yet ... :( She absolutley HATES tummy time. Will whinge until she rolls over.

Anyone elses bub obsessed with mirrors?? Summer will kiss herself in the mirror. Its so funny to watch. I will leave her on the floor in my room infront of the floor length mirror and i spy on her haha very funny to see what she gets up to by herself!!

Good to see everyone is doing well!! I cant wait till Summer hits the 8kg, then i can turn her carseat around!! Only 200g to go!! :clap:

can't remember all the things I wanted to say to everyone, but just wanted to add that dh heard some stuff about the allergy debate on ABC issues recently - can't remember the exact program name, but there's a part of their site that looks at all recent scientific stuff (yes dh is a nerd, but a lovely nerd) & you should be able to find it if you serach the abc site. will ask dh for the link later.

anyhow, they found that after years of advising no nuts for pg/bf women in uk (based on no research whatsoever) they now think that's actually contributing to the increase in allergies. so now, advising to eat them. Australia never really had a standard 'national' restriction iykwim. obviously if you have a family history, you might do differently. will try to find info & post later.

ps, nikki, ella hated tummy time too, until she realised rolling onto her front gets her into more fun! summer'll do it when she wants to. have fun in bali. kissing mirror is cute. ella kisses me, & also i've started getting her & i to kiss the bear in the car (i've got a bear mirror so I can see her in the car) - she thinks it's funny & it's helping avoid the car-seat tanties & hopefully keep her liking rearfacing. She's not yet 6.5 kg so won't be turning for ages. Don't want to til she's 1 anyway...

Morgan- Thanks for that :) I'm a bit scared about the MMR. i can't remember if it's whites or yolks that is used in it, I was just curious to see if he got a reaction to it. It's good that he's grown out of it.

Well the miss is lay across my lap at the moment screaming *sigh* she is tired and has a tummy ache . She hasnt done a decent poop for a few days but why she is having trouble I don't know!

We offered sme apple custard tday and ou would think she was starving lol.. she ate about a tablespoon and then had some water... We decided to start offering solids again to see how she would go and she was so excited when she saw her bowl and spoon..

Well Missy has stopped crying.. if JAcob would just sit down or go and play in his bloomin bedroom she would prob drop off to sleep...

Nic - i think this is a new bug, goodness knows where from though as we've been home for the last 3 days but he now got a temp too, 38.2, so back to the Drs this arvo. What a bummer Jacob wont have a quiet spell. Im sure Olivia is saving everything up and once shes up & about hes in BIG trouble :lol:

I am still really busy with settling into our new house and I decided to give BB a break for a bit and spend time with DH in the evenings. Thats not to say that I have not missed everyone:)

Quick update on Loren. The little buggar is pulling herself up on furniture now!!! OMG I can't take my eyes off her when she is playing on the floor. I have started to do some sleep training with her because her sleep habits where going from poor to bad and I was going insane due to lack of sleep. So far it seems to be working and I feel like a human again. Loren is still not keen on solids but she will eat a couple of tabelspoons of food 2 per day. Foods introduced so far are pumpkin, sweet tato, banana, pear, apple and cereal. Next on the list is avocado!!!!

HUGS to all...I am going to scedule in some serious BB time in the next few days.

Nikki - Bali again! u lucky thing.. hope you have an awesome time! and summers ears are better by then. and yes.. get your butt back in here girlie!!

Well my poor baby girl has sore gums :( Her 4 top teeth are coming i think.. Her eye teeth are pressing really hard.. not broken through yet but hard and white.. I hope she sleeps tonight though. se only slept for 40 mins this morning and about 20 this afternoon and thats it.. never had such a sleepless day before. how you other mummies do it I don't know. I was more exhausted lol

OMG I am so over the screaming!!!!! Olivia is perfectly happy to sit around all day and scream at the top of her lungs. Today we were home all day and I swear she screamed for 80% of the time! She was happy and had attention, she has just decided that she likes to scream at the moment :-( I swear it is so draining to have it go on all day. Experienced mums please tell me it is just a phase, a really short phase, that she will soon get over.....

I am assuming its a phase too.. Olivia started this today and a few days last week.. Just crying for attention basically.. I wonder if it is a frustration thing.. They kknow they can move thier bodies but can't quite work it out...

Nic, Olivia isn't even crying/grizzling at all. She just screams - as if someone is after her! I am scared the neighbours are going to come bursting through the door to 'rescue the poor screaming baby from the horrible mother'

When my kids have *melt* downs like that I feel the same.. Like the neighbours are going to think I am hurting them or something. I usually go out the front lol.. wander round like I have something to do while they are screaming so they can see its not me.. :lol:

Well Olivia slept all night **dance** She woke briefly at 11 but I just popped her in bed with me and she slept till 6.. I didn't sleep so great as Olivia kept snoring :lol: and Jacob woke me at 4 to go to the toilet but overall I got better rest then normal..

Today I am just going to let Olivia sleep on me for her sleeps. Simon is asleep today so I can't put her in her own bed and it makes for a very long day otherwise with checking on her constantly cus she is another room and not on her monitor ect ect ect..

Well the miss is grumpy now. Prob got to much milk from my lopsided booby..

why does just one breast get very full and sore when she sleeps through? I try to feed evenly and I honestly thought I fed very evenly yesterday but yet again one side very sore and huge!!

Well i didnt end up going out, Ash was out for the night, I put him down at 5pm and that was it till 6.30am this morning, the earlier hes going to bed the earlier he wakes so i try not to get his arvo sleep to late, but his needles obviously knocked him out.

Kayla's got a red raw bum at the moment, cos she keeps doing little plugs of poo that I'm not noticing u ntil a regular nappy change! And I think when she wees at night it stings her little bottom :( So she lets out quite a scream.

My tooth is playing up again.. which can only mean one thing. $2000 needs to be spent on it :( Antibiotics cleared it up last time, but it's flared up again, which basically means the root canal therapy has failed. mind you, I had that done many years ago.. but dentist reckons it happens. Where the hell am I gonna find money like that? I mean, I'm sure I can scrounge it up, but it's gonna hurt :(

Why do dentists need to charge so much? they realy need to bring something to help people pay for it.. not neccesarily medicare but something like it..
