Alicia- You poor thing, and poor DH. I had my appendix out when I was 21, not the most pleasant thing ever, I hoep he make s a speedy recovery.

Haroula- Poor thing on the unsettled baby, we go through that most afternoons with Liam at the moment, but luckily it is when DH is home and can help me. I just wanted to say as well dont worry about picking up your crying babies, they dont learn to manipulate us untill they are at least 1.

Lara- Poor Ollie, I hope he makes a speedy recovery- he can be twins with Tori she has a fat lip too at the moment. I would also make a complaint, it is unacceptable for a bus driver to take no consideration for the safety of his passengers. Luckily there are still some good people in the world who came to help you, have you noticed that quite often it is the less capable ie. old lady that lend a hand.

Bindy- Wow what a great weight gain, can you believe how quickly they start to grow?

Getting baby to sleep- Girls i just wanted to say from my personal experience not to worry too much about how you get baby to sleep in these early days, I rocked Tori to sleep until she was about 4 months old and then 1 day she decided she didnt want to be rocked anymore and went down in her cot and off to sleep, and hs never let me rock her to sleep since. If they settle in their bassinette that is awesome, but dont feel bad about picking them up if they wont settle.

Not much on here for the next few days, just trying to get some sorting out done in the house and get ourselves organised to go away next week.

ali alicia nic and everyone - thanks for your sympathy re olly and the bus. i have put in two complaints - one that the old buses are dangerous and the other that my son was injured on a bus trip. i don't know if it'll fall on the driver's head tho. they will contact me in 5 working days so we'll see. i realised in my rant i called the driver some nasty things because i was so mad, but i had no right to use his size as an insult and apologize for being sizist! i should've picked on his behaviour which was unacceptable, i think there'd be a rule about waiting for children to be safely seated before accelerating at warp speed- and in the case of a 2 yo that'd be waiting for the adult to be sitting with him. as for the baby - if i'd falled and hurt mylo... i cant' even think about it. thank god for the women who helped. my friend once had to take the bus with new born and toddler, same situation, and the only person who'd help was a homeless woman drinking beer in the gutter. all the able-bodied young people onthe bus just pretend they cant see us.

mylo kept me and dh awake most of the night, i don't know what the problem was, too much milk, not enough milk, wind, tiredness, awakeness- i don't think he knew either. he eventually slept next to me in the bed (i fell asleep feeding) and i dreamt he was off playing in the traffic (such is my fear of him falling out or getting squished/ smothered in our too small bed). DH is happy to sleep on the floor if mylo needs the bed, but one of us needs to be awake to arrange it.

alicia - hope rob recovers soon and ur doing ok with ur MIL!

xtml - glad u put in a complaint. i would of said the same stuff as u if it happened to me! u cant help heat of the moment comments, and im sure he didnt get up cos he was too overweight. (sorry, that made me angry, i hate bus drivers)

well my little man is starting to turn into a big boofa! hes now wearing 00 clothes! i had to go buy all new outfits today.. and hes only 4weeks LOL

What a rotten day yesterday was for so many people. I think the universe was conspiring against the December mummies.

Alicia - flippin' heck, you are having a rough trot, I hope that hubby recovers quickly and that your 'transport issues' get resolved. I had the opposite problem in that I didn't want my MIL going anywhere near my new car (especially if it was carrying my new son!) as she is not the greatest driver, but I didn't want to hurt her feelings by saying so!

Haroula - we could have had twins yesterday. Talk about Mr Unsettled - he woke up every time we put him down yesterday and finally got to sleep after 1:00am. Then woke at 7:00 so mummy's a little tired today. Bet you are too hon, hope you have a better day today.

Xtml: oh you poor love, and poor little Olly. That bus driver should not only be sacked, but be put into a giant cage thingi (you know the ones that they shake bingo balls in, well a really big one of those) with a whole bunch of hard metal objects and shaken about really really hard until he understands what it is like. I hope your sunburn heals up nice and quickly too. Sorry to hear that Mylo had a rough night - it's hard when they're unsettled but they don't even seem to know why...

Nic - yay on the good shopping trip - I'm glad that Olivia likes being upright in the sling! What's with these babies that want to be continually upright?

Ali - I agree with you on the 'whatever works' sleep method in the early days - there seems to be a lot of midwives/MCHNs who suggest a settling method for newborns that is borderline controlled crying - regardless of whether it is a method that people agree with or not it is not recommended before 6 months anyway. I had a home visit MCHN who wanted me to leave Euan to cry for a while when he woke up after one sleep cycle - he was working up to full throttle and it wasn't bl**dy likely he was going to calm down on his own! Some babies do self settle from newborn, but a lot don't and need a little help to get to sleep - look at all the adult insomniacs in the world, why should babies be any different!?! And if anybody says that I am creating a rod for my own back by carrying him to sleep, I just say 'good, the rod will give me extra back support'!

Buzzie - you do have a boofa!! We are in some 00s and some 000 still fit him, but truth be told I'm not sure anymore because it's too hot for clothes - he's just been in nappies for the last week!

hi ladies,

just quickly while Chrissie is quiet and on her play mat!! Looks like today is another day like yesterday!! she just wont sleep after 12!! I dunno why! She's fed changed and as soon as she falls asleep and i put her in her cradle... she wakes up after 5min screaming!!! arg!! and it starts all over again! at least now she's settled with her toys...! no sleep though.. is this going to be her "awake" time now..??! what do you guys think?! isn't she too young to be awake for so long?..
What does everyone think??

better be quick - I have spent all arvo on the PC booking a cruise for my mum - how nice does this sounds - 14 nights cruising Fiji, Vanuatu and New Caledonia! I can't believe she is actually going!!

I can't imagine what it would be like to put a baby in a bassinett, awake, & have them fall asleep there & not cry the house down.... I wish I could get Scally to sleep without patting/rocking/feeding but alas, I cannot.

XTML, your bus trip was hideous, you poor thing!! (& poor Olly) Scally & I had a quick trip on the bus today in to the post office, a quick whirl around woolies & back on the bus & she was a dream... just started to scream her lungs out as we were coming in the door. The lady at the post office even commented "What a good baby!" as she was asleep in the HAB... first & last time anyone'll say that about her lol.

Haroula, Scally is like that, after waking up anywhere from 12 to 1 she wont' go down until her long sleep at 6, 'cept for yesterday when she slept in the HAB through that normal awake/screaming time then was awake/screaming from 7 to 12 or 12.30.... I know which I'd preffer...

Uh oh, gotta go.....

H & QM- We have had one of those days today as well, from 7am when he woke untill about 1ish Liam would not stay asleep, I got him to sleep aout 4 or 5 times but everytime I went to put him down he would wake within 15 mins. When DH got home from work at lunch time I just took liam to bed and fed him in bed, then lay down with him, everytime he opened his eyes I would put my finger in the middle of his forehead and he would drift back off.
He did a MEGA poo this morning though and I wonder if that unsettled him?

Anyway better go.

Ali/QM - growth spurt maybe..?? i know they go through one at 2 week ish and one at 4 weeks..!?!?!

Suse: Beats me! I guess they like to see the world lol. the friend who leant me the sling came and showed me how to use it again and i have her semi laying down. I think my big bosoms make it hard lol.. damn boobies

Haroula: How long was Chrissy awake for? Olivia started having longer then 1 hour around the 3 week mark.. Now se can be awake for up to 2 hours but if any longer she is foul!!

Rory: What an awesome sounding trip.. I would so love a holiday like that right now

Been a nice day here.. Redid our bedroom and put Olivias cradle in a better spot.. and shock horror actually folded my 3 baskets of washing and hung 2 loads on the line :lol: now dh is mowing and I am sitting in the AC cooling off while my little princess sleeps.. She has been wonderful today. She lay on te floor in my room on my pillow while I cleaned and vacced around her..

ooo I can't believe I forgot.. We got a LAUGH.. Simon was cuddling her and playing and she grinned the biggest grin and made a proper chuckle sound.. no doubting it.. :D

Rory - Count me in for the 4th.

Nic - That is so cute about the laugh. We are getting much more regular smiles now which is fab. I am sure she knows exactly what I am saying sometimes as this afternoon I said to her 'You always wake up just as I am about to nap or eat' and she gave me the cheekiest grin ever!

Pretty good day here (sorry to all the mummies having bad days). Olivia has been a little clingy but it is probably the disruption getting to her. She is now asleep in her bassinette though and has been in there for 2 hours. Hoping she just wakes up for dinner later and goes straight back down *fingers crossed*
DH was discharged from the hospital this morning and is feeling pretty sore and sorry for himself but is ok. We compared scars and I still kick butt LOL. Gotta go MIL calling that dinner is ready...

Had an ok day here too. We will see how the night pans out!!! I think Loren has reflux. My doc told me to wait another 6wks and then she'll consider meds!!! WTF I need more than 3 hours sleep a night now. I am going to get an second opinion.

Well I took time to have a look at myself today...Oh hear I need a panel beater!!! I have a spare tyre and extra hail damage!!!

Went shopping with Loren all day today. She slept the whole day and I actually got my hair cut.

Interesting bit of information. I spoke with a naturapath today and she recommend a probiotic for Loren to help reduce colic. I started using one weeks ago but got lazy and stopped. The naturapath told me to give her 2 heaps scoops of the powder twice a day and see if her wind issue is reduced.

Best go Loren screaming...here we go, I'll be up till midnight or beyond

bekz - let me know how the probiotic goes, i was reckomended one too, intrested to know how good it is. what one are u gonna give her?

just lost my reply.... ! gee sometimes i hate computers.... just shut down for no reason!! darn it! anyway....

had a great night, went down at 10:30 and slept until 4ish!!! WOOHOOO!!!...and even then i HAD to feed her.. i kinda woke her up.... cause i was going to burst! AND i leaked everywhere,. thought Chrissie wee'd everywhere but it was me!! :rolleyes:

nic - she stays awake for at least 2 hrs!! she's already been awake for an hr this morning... at the moment she's on her activity mat kicking legs and arms everywhere!! LOL.....ohh i jut saw a yawn.... i wonder if she will fall asleep on her own..?!?!

and i've discovered i dont like any of my old tops pre PG.. i'm finding them too tight!! i think i got used to wearing looser clothes while PG! and now i can't find anything to wear! :(

ok i better go try gt this one to sleep, she is starting to look over stimulated!!! hehehe

Last night was not a good night for sleeping here. DH's first night home from hospital so we were hoping Olivia would sleep soundly and she did but from 5pm-11pm and then was awake for food. Then because she had already had a big sleep she woke up at 3:30 and was a bit chatting and grizzley from then on :-( Hopefully tonight will be a little better.

Lauren - I can't believe Ash is already in 00! Olivia still fits into 000 comfortably, she just has long legs. How much does Ash weigh now?

Haroula - We posted at the same time :-) I agree I got used to the more comfy clothing. Luckily lots of the stuff I wore while pregnant wasn't maternity stuff, just stuff in a bigger size so I can still wear it now without looking silly. Actually I am wearing one of the tops now.

Why is it when one baby sleeps well the other has a bad night. Liam slept like and Angel from 9:30-3 and then again from 3:20-7 but Tori woke up at 1am and it was after 4am when I finally got her back to bed. I feel so bad for my DH as he tries so hard to get Tori back to bed, but unfortunatley she just cries for me.

Clothes- I soooooooo hear ya on having nothing to wear. I think I have a total of 4 different combination of outfits to wear and that is it. I dont really want to spend too much money on clothes because I am hitting the gym after my 6 week check up and next summer I am hoping to be a few sizes smaller.

I managed to get to the shops with Tori on our own this morning, it was really nice to hang out just the 2 of use like we used to. Now I MUST go and clean my house before it because it is rather feral and we have visitors coming this arvo.

alicia - i've been looking at my clothes wondering what i used to wear before!! I can't see anything i like!! so weird!! i fit into most of my pants.. but it's too hot for jeans now and i can't see what i USED to wear!! I am too! Have a maternity singlet on now! LOL

Ali - hmmm hope your nights get better!!! Could Tori be feeling a bit self conscious/jealous of new bub?

H- I actually think Tori is not well, she has had the runs for a couple of days. I also think so sleeps walks because DH found her standing in the middle of the lounge room last night with a toy in her hand, when normally if she wakes in the night she comes into our bedroom.
I also meant to ask do you swaddle Chrissie for her day naps?

Howdy girls finally get on here this week! Bit to catch up on but I managed....
Jemma is great went to health nurse yesterday for 2 weeks check up and she put on 320grams in 9 days!! little guts:p and has grown another 2.5cm since birth so doing fabo so different to Riley he was always under weight probably due to being born 5.11lb and now Jemma is always above average! So very happy and not too bad on the sleeping at night so cant complain:)

Qmab Oh cool might be moving down this way would be great to catch up if you do!!

Haroula Yes we get the grunting before a feed a night too! and well done chrissy on the weight gain!

Buzzie I jump up way too quick for Jemma too should let her cry but afraid she will wake number 1 child!

Rory Love to meet up but have a bit on the next couple of weeks (riley kinder etc) so Ill go to the next meeting plus highpoint bit far for me at this stage 1hrish drive or more?! So thanks for the invite anyways;)

Bindy Yeah I am giving Jemma formula twice a day too to give the boobies a rest and get her used to bottle if need to go out to Weddings dinners coming up etc Plus the times I do it other people can feed her then for me usually so works for me! Plus Riley never took to bottle for what seemed like ages so wanted this girl to like it....Dummies are a great tool too!:p

Alicia - Ash is 5.44kg and 56cm long, he has just monstered over the sizes of all the babies in mothers group and he's the 'baby' of the group too. its scary to see how big he's gonna keep getting. Neither me or his dad are tall, but some of my family are all about 6ft (+) so maybe he'll take after them.

haroula- Im in a maternity top too! lol i dont know if its depressing cos its all that fits or that its just so damn comfy! lol I used to try to buy nice things, now its all baggy loose stuff and i couldnt give 2 hoots what ppl think. hehe

Hi everyone. I will have to catch up on all the posts later. I have been super busy trying to sell our darn investment property. I HATE IT! Grrr

Summer is now 10 pound 10 ounces!! Yippee! I love the chubbiness. Smiles all round here too. I cant believe its been 7 weeks already. Little scary! Needles next week :( not looking forward to that. Question: how much has everyone's babies grown in length. Summer has grown 7cm in 7 weeks??? Is that too much? She seems really LONG.

I cannot believe how much sleep i am getting at the moment. Sum goes down at 9.00pm and sleeps through to 3.00am then is up for a feed then goes back to sleep until about 7.30am.
I havent had a screaming issue with her yet?? I think she sleeps TOO much, maybe that is why she has grown so much?? I am so clueless! I dont need to try to get her off to sleep. I just swaddle her really tight, give her her dummy and put her in her bassinette.

Buzzie - Summer is also 56cm (she was 49 born) but Ash is 2 1/2 weeks younger! I think he might be a tall one buzzie!! I am a little worried about how tall Summer will be, i am nearly 6 feet tall and her 17 year old Uncle is 6 foot 5! UH OH. Poor thing wont be able to wear high heels like i was never able too hehe

Ali - ohh hope she's ok?!?!?!... wow sleep walking..?! How are you going to deal with that..?? hope she doesn't hurt herself!

no... i don't swaddle her during the day, only at night!! unless she's struggling to sleep, i'll give it a go..but she moves around so much that sometimes if i swaddle her she gets all agro that she can't move!! and wakes up!

kristie - so glad all is going well!!! :D

Lauren - i think it's a pregnancy thing!... you kinda sorta get over what people think about you!... i think i just want to be comfy!

Nikki sweet, relax :) Your girl sounds like Flynn - all he did for the first 3 months was eat and sleep. I was really worried he was autistic. He did none of the "feed play sleep" thing, never cried unless hungry or wet/pooey, not even when having his clothes or bum changed. Just enjoy your sweet girl :)

OMG, honestly ladies, the chatter thats been happening.

i've almost missed a whole thread.

there's just so many of us now that i'm not going to bother with the personals. (sorry).

Mirani had her check with the drs last week about her rash. he thinks its a heat rash. but i dont. we also got her referal for the endocronologist. (we got the appointment letter for it yesterday and her appointment is in SEPTEMBER!!!!)
she had her appt with the CHN on wed and she now weighs 4935g and has a massive head at 40cm and her length is 56cm.
the nurse said that the rash is either a developmental one or eczema (sp?). and she also told us that Mirani has a slightly lazy eye. which i'm not too happy about.

but apart from that she's happy and healthy. and sleeping alot better.

she has cat naps during the day, but come 11pm and if she has a full belly she'll sleep pretty much all the way through, this morning she slept until 6.15am!!

however, i cannot wait until school goes back next week. the 4th cannot come any sooner. (sorry if i sound like a horrible mother, but you can only take so much whinging and fighting).

Michelle - I dont think anyone should apologize for not doing personals anymore.. i just added the 25th !! person to our BellyBuddies list!!! Its a no wonder we are flying thru posts!

I hope Mirani just has something as simple as heat rash, Ash gets that pretty bad too atm, even tho hes only been wearing a singlet and nappies for the last couple weeks. :(

Haroula- The reason I asked was I never used to swaddle Tori during the day and she never stayed asleep, untill 1 day I twigged that I swaddled her at night and she slept beautiflly and didnt during the day and it was a nightmare. I started to swaddle her for day naps too and she started to sleep lots better.
Having said that Liam is always swaddled and the last 2 days have been horrendous, yesterday he woke up everytime we put him down from 7am-1pm and he basically did the same today. It is so tiring and fustrating.

hey......has anyone's bleeding pretty much stop one day.. then comes back the next.??!?! this has been happening to me off and on for the last week! the minute i think it is gone... it's back again!!

at 3 weeks 5 days Chrissie was 54.5cm...so i guess that's about he same rate 1cm per week

I'll just jump in here with our latest stats :)

at 11 weeks, Kayla was 5.5kg and 59.5cm. She was born 3.5kg and 48.5cm. So 2kg in nearly 3 months. Thank goodness that's all.. she's already off the charts for her corrected age LOL. For her birth age she's completely normal tho!

Sorry girls, am having a hard time keeping up with you all :) Hope everyone and their bubs are well.

I thought Livi was going to be big but seems like she fits in in this group. She is 5kg now and 57cm long. The length is mainly in her legs so I think that is why she still fits 000 clothes.
