Hey gals!
My stupid internet is still playing up.... I tried to post yesterday but ended up just giving up
JULES - Could the rash like thing be food related? DS1 started getting it on his cheeks, upper arms & legs (still does get it now) when he was around 12 months. The GP reckons it was a mild food allergy. We still think it's wheat related. Just a thought.
Eden is doing well. His top teeth are buldging through now. He has been a little more unsettled with these teeth then with his bottom teeth, but thankfully the teething necklace seems to be doing the trick.
He has his good days & bad with his food. But he does so well with BLS. He never gags, and surprises me what he eats sometimes. He ate a quarter of a cheese sandwich the other day. Last night he ate some fish, pumpkin, carrot, broccoli & potato. I just give him what we have for dinner but I do have some rissoles in the freezer in case we have something that he just can't. Most days he only has breakfast & dinner, but he'll have lunch if he's awake
Not much else happening.
Good luck with the house CHARLOTTE

I haven't been turning the computer on too much lately ladies. Just having a bit of a break.
I might have a break for a little bit but i won't be too far away and i will be back, just something i feel i need to do for a little bit.
Harper barper had a TERRIBLE night last night, we set the port-a-cot up in our room because she wouldn't sleep in our bed, wouldn't sleep in her bed and really didn't sleep much in the port-a-cot either. I think it could have been to do with a blocked up nose and/or sore tummy. She filled her nappy early this morning... Who knows but it wasn't easy. DH and i have barely slept all night. But having said that she slept 8 hours the other night!!!! First time ever...
So i'm off to the natropath today and i'm hoping for a mirical cure from her. Wish me luck ladies.
Keep well, enjoy your little ones and i'll keep in touch as much as i can xo

(no time for updates, just one thing)
ITS A TOOTH!!! I REPEAT!! ITS A TOOTH!!
We are over the moon! Hopefully Hannie turns back into an angel because the last 2 days have been nearly unbearable.

Hullo!
Charlotte, hooray for the tooth and the dress! and I love your ticker, that is fantastic :)
EJ, fingers crossed that you get some answers! Hope Miss Barper is feeling better.
Georgi, awesome that BLS is going so well for you. I got so confused when I saw our MHCN, she was very pro BLS, but then told me Millie HAD to be getting x amount per day, and encouraged pureed foods, which kind of defeats the purpose I think? Anyway, being away we're using a lot of prepared foods but when we get home she'll be a hands on baby.
Jules, does he seem uncomfortable with the spots? Hope it clears up!
Audax, LOL at the facewasher. Millie opens her mouth in the bath and catches her splashes... she thinks she's so hilarious (which she is, tee hee!). I don't have Millie weighed very often either, I can see and feel that she is growing and healthy.
Millie is right into paper. Yesterday when we were packing she was very upset at being left to play... which she normally loves, but of course because we were busy... so DH gave her the city map we got from hotel reception - hours of fun. Today on the train? The travel itinerary :)
I hope everyone is well... sorry if I've missed anyone!

Kaz - has been happening since she was 10 weeks. Limiting night feeds helps, to just 20 mins at a time. She's fine with that, but the challenge for me is staying awake! In the day I feed immediately before and after every sleep (she's on 4 sleeps a day) so she's too dozy to protest. Dark quiet room helps (dunno what you'd do with Pip though!) and also just having a few days at home to relax. The ABA booklet is quite good, and I rang the helpline once, got MadB's mum (I totally made that up, but she lives in WA and has a daughter called Miriam) and she suggested rubbing her bum, particularly the anal area, with the heel of your hand, as it stimulates sucking. Oh, and feeding with her nappy off. Hope it gets better for you!
We are both sick. Rotten cold. Just using a bit of saline spray for now. My mum's coming on Tuesday to help us out.
-
Looks like Hannah might be coming down with another cold.
Letting her sleep for as much as possible today, as she just cries constantly if she's up.
She's not into solids at the moment so we're not pushing her. If she doesn't want to eat, its fine with us.
Mr Toothy is look fabulous!! But, amazingly, we missed the tooth right next to it!!! It nearly cut, should be cut by tonight or tomorrow.
2 teeth in 2 days!!! No wonder she's being a little monster!
So, things have been really hard here with Hannah being in pain with her teeth. Have had to give her some panadol as bonjela just isn't doing the job.
Her new favourite thing -- Me kissing the palms of her hands. She thinks it hilarious and will even hold her hand up for me.
Oops. She's awake.
-
ah yes, they usually come in pairs. that's great they're finally cutting! hope she's feeling better very soon.
lol audax  nice to hear of another miriam though
Pixie, specifying a certain amount per day really would defeat teh purpose of BLS! dear me, never mind.
Hi Georgi, nice to see you!
Hope the natropath went well EJ
Miri was erm, difficult last night. I mean more so than usual. awake for hours crying and sooking, then finally slept... for about 5 hours straight. which was good for her, but stil not really enough sleep.
I need to have a very early one again I think!
-
thanks Audax. Looks like I'll be restarting the meds to boost supply. Although tonight we had a lovely bath tonight, very deep, and he turned around and licked then nuzzled my boob! It was after he'd fed, so wasn't expecting or pressuring him to. Very happy, feel more at peace now.
MadB - hope you get a better night today and some good sleep.
Set up Pip's old hook-on seat next to me at the table, offered him a plate of veg and meat - carrot, broccoli, peas & some rib eye (yum). Well, some broccoli went in his mouth - the dogs enjoyed his meal heaps! In retrospect, peas weren't a good idea - too small. hoping his teeth come through, these second out are taking their time!!!
-
Oh! That's very promising Kaz!
We had a ****arse night from hell. Some neighbours.. no, wait, not neighbours, they live int eh enxt street over... but anyway, they had a really loud party... all night... still going at 6am... and that's after we called the cops (it was so loud that even a street away I could hear it clearly through earplugs). I know the police have way better thigns to be doing with themselves... some people are just really inconsiderate.
-
Hey ladies
MadB - Nice to hear it's more common than I originally thought. Sorry to hear you've had some horrible nights, between Miri and the neighbours you don't seem to be getting much rest, my heart goes out to you!!!
Kaz - Thanks, I went with my instincts and I will update below. I did get a cuddle of the beautiful little Chloe, she is such a doll. I'm so in love all over again, being an aunty is great :) She does make me clucky but I'm just not getting enough sleep to consider it yet. I'm thinking we're going to have a bit of an age gap, maybe try when Jacob is one and a half. Give me another year I think :) The bath sounded LOVELY! Sounds so promising Kaz!
Georgi - I thought food also, but the doctors are pretty stumped. The latest update will be below... I hadn't introduced anything new when he got the spots so I don't think so, but I'm keeping it in mind. Thanks for the suggestion. Sounds like Eden is going really well with BLS, I'm so tempted...I think we'll give it a go when we get home, sounds soooo much easier.
EJ - Nice to hear from you, hope you're taking the time to enjoy your little ones. Sorry to hear Harpers had a few bad nights but 8 hours is fabulous!!! How did the appointment go with the natropath??
Charlotte - Finally a tooth!! That's fantastic. I hope she's getting a break now and doesn't end up with a cold.... :( The poor little thing! Teeth are horrible little things aren't they. Jacobs top two are giving him (and me) hell!! How did you go with the house? buying a house is so exciting!! That's soooo cute about kissing Hannah's palms. How lovely!!
PP - Hows the little jetsetter? No, Jacob isn't uncomfortable with his spots. He is definately 'off' but he has a cold on top of it all so I think it's more linked to that. Who knows, we'll get a rest one day! sounds like Millie really loves her paper, Jacob is just starting to learn the joys of it now...it's amazing how long it can keep them amused isn't it?! Sounds like Millie is doing so well with all the travelling, it must be such a relief for you and your DH.
Audax - Bad news about the cold, I hope you're both feeling better very soon. I feel your frustrations. I'm not sick but Jacob is... It's such a pain.
As for us - I took Jacob to another Dr. He was a really good doctor, he even called in a second doctor for his opinion. They seem to think it's like a mild eczema? possibly a combination of dry skin/sensitive skin/soap products/use of a heater. I've started using QV products and they seem to be clearing up!! :crossfingers: I am so hoping we've finally figured it out. I had been moisturising but using Johnson and Johnsons products and it seems he's too sensitive. He still has this rotten cold, he won't let me use the snot sucker, he screams. So I'm having trouble getting it out :( His sleeping is up the creek......:dunno: could be his cold or even his teeth - he seems to be struggling with the top ones....I'm just going with the flow for now. Still away up north at the moment, DH went back for work and arrives again on Wednesday. I've bought him tickets to the V8's on this weekend for his birthday (which is in August) so he's pretty excited to come back for that.
Sweet dreams all. xox

Just quickly Jules, throw the J&J stuf in the bin. It's dreadful for the little ones' skin. If QV seems better, then good. Otherwise, go for something all natural. J&J is actually rated very poorly for all the nasty chemicals in it. (you wouldn't know it from their lovely advertising of course)
Those top one do seem to be harder coming through than the bottom ones. Each new set seemed worse than the last with DS :wall:
-
MadB - Already done!!! I had tried another brand but I can't remember the name of it. It's meant to be all natural, but I probably didn't use it long enough... I'll see how QV goes. Thanks for that. yes, stupid teeth!!
-
Yeah, J&J is no-more-tears cause it has anaesthetic in it!!!
Sounds great Jules to find something. We use MooGoo bath wash here - it's so mild that if you swallow it, no problem. Although I also use Gaia talc.
-
Hey Jules,
I've gone all sulfate free products with Millie because of my sensitivity (heck, if I have to have my hands in it...) and went with Gaia after much label reading. Heaven on earth. Mum gave us a travel pack of the body shop buriti baby products which are also lovely (have to admit I didn't check the label for sulfates because it was a gift... hands are fine though so hope it's okay?). Also we use pawpaw ointment on everything and it seems to work on everything.
It's so cold here, DH's uncle has even put the heaters on. It feels like a cruddy damp Sydney winter's day. Poo. We're back in the village though which is nice, it's good to have some down time. Millie certainly needs it! Still no teeth, she's such a gummy bear. It's hilarious, I love her big gummy grins :)
MadB, that's what I thought about the MCHN... seriously, she was all "oh, fantastic, you know about BLS... so she's on three meals a day is she?" "erm, no." "Getting 5 serves of veg and 2 of fruit per day?" "erm, really no." I left very confused. Cruddy neighbours. There's a fest in the village at the moment so the disco last night kept us all awake. Millie doesn't like "doof doof", but is a total fan of "oom pah" :)
Kaz, yay for the bath, and LOL at the dogs :)
Audax hope the colds shift quickly!
Charlotte, congrats on the teeth, and LOl at the palm kisses :) Millie was in stitches at my wicked witch cackle this evening... note to self... only do it when she has a nappy on... wee everywhere!!!!
Must go, there's only a certain amount of hot water available and my hair needs a wash!
Thinking of you all

EJ - Hope you had a better night last night. Any cures from the Natropath?
CHARLOTTE - Wooooohhhhhooooo a tooth! Hope she's settled down now
PP - Paper.... At least it's cheap to keep her occupied lol. 3 meals a day... errr no, 5 veges.... errrr definately no, 2 fruits..... errrrr, yeah most days lol
AUDAX - Boo for being sick but yay for mum coming
MADB - Sounds like you really need a good night sleep. Grrrr to those neighbours. My neighbour decides to play the drums at lunch time every day, just when the boys are sleeping. His garage is right nex to their rooms
KAZBAH - Yay on the broccoli!
JULES - Gosh, it's so much easier (BLS). Although I did BLS with DS1, I still made him seperate meals as he was eating earlier than we were. So I would make things like rissoles & zucchini slice etc. But this time Eden eats with us at 5.30pm. It kinda goes against the theory of offering BB before solids as he has his last feed at 7pm and sometimes we don't have dinner till closer to 6. But it's much better now that he just gets what we get. Although the GP's said DS1's rash was food related, I use a mild soap and sorbelene cream and that seems to work, so huh, who know's hey. I hope it doesn't bother him. It never bothered DS1 at all
Eden seems to prefer his meat over his veges, which is strange. DS1 will dust a plate of veges, and ask for more, before he even touches his meat/fish/chicken
Ok so operation unswaddle begun yesterday. It's been a disaster so far. He's only just discovered that he call roll around the lounge room floor and has decided to take up rolling around the cot too.... Wrapped! I wrap him in a stretchy cotton wrap which is hard for him to get out of, most of the time.... At night I double wrap him but this morning he woke at 5am.... Grrrrrrr, when I went in to tell him to go back to sleep he had both arms out of the wraps. I re wrapped, put him back to bed and he kept waking crying, sleeping, crying etc etc..When I went back in he was flat on his face, fully wrapped. But he won't sleep unwrapped. Oh the joys hey..... I'll keep battling on for a few days & hope to get this sorted quickly. I also think those top teeth may be causing some of this too
Oh, I don't think i've mentioned that DH's paternity leave has been authorised.... 3 months off.... FULLY PAID! From Sept 5th. Oh, I can't wait..... Mr Mum here we come
-
great news about the paternity leave!
I guess one good thing about Miri is that with her crap sleep it really made no difference when I decided to stop swaddling her. It's a shame he's rolling around like that. Hopefully he'll get used to it in a bit. I guess it usually takes a good week or two for themto settle into new things usually. DS was 8 months before we managed to unwrap him (but he wasn't a big roller, obviously).
Ari always loved meat too! Veg & fruit, also, but meat especially. We had rissoles the other night and Miri was very enthusiastic.
:o at your MCHN pixie. seriously, wtf? 7 month old eating that much? Hope you got enough hot water! It's cold here all of a sudden, too.
A friend sent me some Little Innoscents stuff for Miri and I love it! Really nice. Gaia is great too. And Moo Goo. I've tried a few :) I do wish they'd sell them in bigger containers though. We use a budgo natural range that comes in 15l tubs
Miri's asleep and we're missing ABA meeting this morning as Ari has the snots. He's ok though, busy building some thing with a hose, sluice gate for the sea water and a motor and tatnk.. he's saying something about separating the salt from teh water...
Oh, and :o Kaz! I did not know that about the anesthetic! Wow.
-
