Hi all, I have only skimmed over the posts.

AJP - i am glad you got the kids down alright tonight.

Holly - if you can get into a good Mothers Group, they are invaluable. I still see my MG from when I had J, although I moved 40 mins away, so I don't see them weekly any more. As I now live in a country town, the MCHN asked me if I wanted to join a MG for second time mums that are new to the area. So I start next week. I am really looking forward to it.

Nai - i wouldn't worry about it. She will be awake soon enough.

Det- J was not circ'd so I don't know anything about it, but you could start a thread to find out. I am sure that there wil lbe many people on BB that could help you out.

    Ellie - Good weight gain!

Kim - great to "see" you in here.

Well as we wish weight gain on our bubs, we are wishing weight loss on ourselves! I dropped J at MIL's. He was very happy to see her. She just sent me an sms to say that he is tucked up nice and asleep.

Shell -0 I had to laugh at your comment about pullingup your jeans. I am the same at the moment. I can't imagine that you would be really large though, as when I saw you last year you looked great! For any of you girls on Facebiik, I have put some of E and J on there. My cousin is a childrens photographer, and took some really candid pics. she is in Vic if any of you Vic girls are interested. Oh - and if anyone wants my facebook details, PM me and I will give you my details.

    Sleepy vibes all....

Oh dear...i am sitting hear half naked with ice cold face washers on both my boobs. They just feel so hot!! I am so confused about breast feeding. I need to go and do some reading on it. I think I ahve so much milk that she doesnt completely drain my boob, I really dont want to express as I dont need any more supply than I have. I am feeding her 7 or 8 times in 24hours which I think is right and she does plenty of wet and dirty nappies so I know she is getting plenty at each feed. When will my supply settle down??? (By the way the ice cold washers I put on my boobs just before I started this post are already starting to feel warm!) She's been demand feeding tonight and has had a few milk chucks the poor poppit.

I am too tired to do anything tonight. Been a crap arvo. Our landlord rang and said that he is going to have to put the rent up an extra $30 a week (not like we have a choice if we want to stay here) and DP is sure he got a speeding ticket going through a camera.

Have you all filled out and sent off your babies birth registration and mdeicare stuff? Do you know how long it takes for the baby bonus money to start coming through once you lodge forms?

Hope that we all have good nights.

ali your boobs will settle down, it may not feel like it now but they will before you know it! if you need to express some off for comfort only, i remember how warm the washer got and how quickly!
mine where uncomfortable and sore all the time.

    blah to the landlord too.

as for medicare etc.. we did ours and where sent within the first week, got medicare care card last week and first payment went in this week, so not long!

    Hugs ali
you are doing everything right with BF. My boobs are still HOT and i am a few weeks ahead of you!!! It will take several more weeks to settle down so hang in there. I get my release from the shower! Let the water massage them and also hand massage to try and drain them or at least massage the ducts that are hard.
as bubs becomes more efficient at sucking, she will drain you some feeds. I reckon that Levi drains me twice a day fully.
I also have one boob that goes hard when its full and hurts like buggery and the other stays soft- go figure lol
The heat is uncomfy- they say that cabbage leaves work well- havent tried them but apparently you chuck a couple of cabbage leaves in the freezer an then pop your bbs in them!
    hang in there hon!!!
just keep doing what you are doing- our bodies are amazing and will adjust as needed to bubs needs- just keep on going

Thanks Jols and Det. I wish they werent so big. I have been going topless all night and they just feel so heavy. If it gets bad tonight I will jump in the shower and express for relief.

I am off to bed now. The guy that is supposed to take over from DP at work still hasnt turned up and he was supposed to be there 45minutes ago. Poor DP. I just feel like crying. I want him home so bad.

I hope Ashlyn sleeps until 3am now. girls.

I jinxed myself - J screamed for an hour or so at 8pm so she must have just been sleepy! She did sleep ok though and spent most of the night in her cradle so it wasn't too bad.

nai sounds like your night was ok too!!

AFM millie fed at 6.45pm, 11.45pm then around 3,5 and 8, sophie also woke at 4 and 5 so busy night!
i find millie is most unsettled after the pre-dawn feed

Jols, J was very similar - fed at 10, 1, 4 and 7 but she did go back into her cradle after all feeds post 1am. DP accidentally kneed her in the head (not hard but it did make her cry) while I was wrapping her on the bed so I was happy that she wasn't in with us last night. I don't think he has the same awareness of her being there as I do.

I'm making a sticker chart with G this weekend so that we can get her to go to bed properly too - the last 3 nights she has gone to sleep in our bed and then DP has to move her when we want to go to bed. She has a tanty at bed time, bath time, brushing teeth and brushing hair so I think I will put a column for each of these for each day of the week - it's a pain but hopefully this will make things easier!!

    Not a good night here.
DD fed at 11:00, 2:15, 4, 6,7,8,9.......arrrrhhhhh she seriously drained all my milk. She would take herself off and I'd put her back on to make sure she'd finish and then I'd burp her and she would start looking around again for my nipple.
Should I just have ignored her wanting to feed so much? I finally got her to sleep just 20 minutes ago. She is prob going to sleep all day now!!!!

Nai-that is great that DD2 slept in her cradle most of the night. The reward chart sounds like a great idea. DD1 is at a good age where an incentive chart would work for her.

JOls- That pre-dawn part if the killer. DD also seems to sleep better when there is noise and maybe night time is just to quiet???

Oh our toddlers all sound the same atm!

E thought it was party time last night. Fed at 11:30, then 2:30, 4, 5, 6. She just wouldn't settle after the 2:30 feed. I could hear her grunting away in her room, then howling!! Turned out she had wet through, so changed her then fed her again. She just wouldn't settle though so she slept with us from 5 onwards. Now she has been asleep since 7. I am about to go and wake her up. I wish she would do the long block over night. J is at MIL, and although E was up a lot of the night, I am just not that tired. Managing a newborn seems so much easier than a defiant 2.5 year old!

Ali - you are only 5 days post bub. I swear give your boobs another 24 to 48 hours and they will start feeling much more comfy.

AJP - Sounds like a busy niht at your house. Can DD go and have an overnight holiday with someone to give you a break?

We actually had decent night, got her to sleep by 10pm, so I got to sleep decent hour and fed 12:30, 3:30 and 6:50, plus settling time alot less. I found rolling her on her side and patting her back helped and also had her on slight angle to sleep instead flat and that helped.

Meg- yeah toddlers can be exhausting! We've been slack and using alot tv with ours just helps get thru day.

Ali - sounds normal for her age. Your milk is coming in properly and she is feeding lots to help it come in fully and to get back to her birth weight and start gaining. The first 2 weeks are pretty much feed feed feed in my experience. So I would say feed her as she demands - she will soon settle down a bit.

arrrhhhh its raining here in melbourne!!! love it!!
nai im thinking of doing the same thing with the sticker chart for sophie might get some cardboard today, it must be a newborn/toddler thing were all having!
millie has cluster fed this morning shes so much more alert now.
millie actually settles better during the night, likes to suck her hands through the wrap to get to sleep and calls out, but when i go to her she;s asleep!! must just be her way of self settling

ali they love to suck so maybe its comfort rather than feeding that she's doing

meg sophie doenst sleep well at other places, something we found out the night millie was born~!~

shell sounds like your night was the good one out of the group!!

Ali- My boobs took few days to settle, was horrible I could feel lumps all way up near my neck thats how engorged they got, had me worried and in tears but did settle. I think someone mentioned about having both sides bra open when you feed, that helped me that way the other side drained abit and made things more comfortable. Like AJP said they love to suck, sometimes they get in these cluster feeds cause its so comforting to them. I ended up giving Em a dummy when I needed a break from it.

Tarkine- How are things going for you today? You have an ok night?

I still have to sort out the medicare, the start of the form had something about calling or doing something on the net before completing the form and that got me all confused. Better get onto it on Mon.
