I was worried about milk as well as J is doing a lot of cluster feeding (AJP - she is a fast drinker too!) so I expressed this morning and in less than 5min I got 50ml She was just fussing so DP gave her the 50ml EBM in a bottle and she gulped down about 40ml and passed out!

I'm actually glad I tried that as it means that I can express and know that she will take it from a bottle if I need her to. We have the Aldiri ones which are BPA free and supposed to be the most "breast like". She didn't seem to have any aversion to it.

All I can say it...I'm stuffed! Anika definately has her day and night confused...was awake from 12 to 3am...bright eyed wanting to hang with mum and dad and chat...happy little thing but only if in our arms and looking at our faces! I wonder if it's coz I've goine from feeding one side every three hours to offering both...I don't know...but everything seems to be a blur!!!

I hear you girls on the cluster feeding- i am almost 2 weeks ahead of you girls and it does settle down- Levi only cluster feeding once a day now- if that- so days he hasnt at all for the past few days- it does get easier
Cluster feeding is our bubs building our supply- so the fact that they are still doing means that they have grown heaps and need more to cope with their new size! Dont be surprise if you get really big weight gains after stages of cluster feeding- it signals that there has been a growth spurt! If unsure - look at photos of when they were born, and see how much they have changed allready and how much bigger they are-its surprising!!

REMEBER THE MANTRA- IT IS A PHASE AND WE WILL GET THROUGH IT!!!!!!!

Boof has gotten so much bigger- his hands and head look big as now- lol starting to put some 00 on him now- had to go out and buy the next size up nappy as they just fit around him and the past couple of days he is well and truly filling them and some overfill when he poos!
I still have two boxes of newborns so gonna have to take them back and hope that they swap them over!

Ferals finally settled down around 9.30ish. Levi slept from 7.30 till 1.45am- too bad i didnt take advantage of it and go to sleep myself! and then fed again at 3.45 and then 6.45 so that was pretty good!

Ali -bubs gets heaps more when she feeds off you, than when you express- so the fact that you got 50mls is great- you have plenty of milk!
Its surprising how efficient our bodies are in making milk as bubs needs it! Just let nature take its course and whilst there are wet nappies- bubs is getting enough!!!!
Glad the boobs are starting to settle down! phew!

Grr Ellie on the day/nite confusion- its hard when they do that! At nite we keep distractions to a minium, I keep Levi wrapped, change his nappy before his feed and the lights stay low. During the day he isnt wrapped when he sleeps, blind and lights are on, and I change his nappy when ever it needs it - so these cues help Levi tell the difference between day and nite! We also have a swing so if he decided to party at nite, my plan is to chuck him in the swing and sleep next to it on the couch- lol!

Megiemoppit- Levi sometimes is on for 10 mins and sometimes on for 30 mins- depends! He starts to get ****ed when it doesnt come out quick enough for him and starts hitting and pulling at my boob- lol the noises he makes are soo funny!

    Levi is awake again
    time to go

Well we have day/ night pretty sorted here but noticed Em really doesn't sleep that much. She sort of naps and has alot awake time and gets cranky if she is not being held, think my hug a bub will be very handy when it arrives.

Det- wow at going into 00! I remember Ash didn't til she was like 3-4 months old! Thats great. Good you being so far ahead we can see there is light at end of the tunnel.

Ellie- Like Det said we did similar to teach Em, during night everything is quiet, no talking, dim light then in day she sleeps downstairs in lounge with us going about our usual business, blinds open, chat to her. Also change her nappies after a feed in day and at night I do it between sides.

Nai- I've not heard of the Aldiri bottles, do you just buy at chemist? We were never able to give Ash a bottle til she was about 9 months old, I really hope Em will take one cause was very hard not being able to leave her to have a break.

Meg- That'll be handy to have your sister around and keep you company too. Hows it going with 2 again?

Ali- Hope she sorts out her unsettled time, thats the worse time to have it I think! Early nights for you for awhile I think, and try nap in the day once she is asleep, forget housework and all that, rest!

AJP- Good luck tomor, its not so bad, only prob I find is when they both wake at same time and you gotta feed bubs while toddler is waiting to get dressed and fed themselves.

Took Ash to playschool concert today, think it was nice to do something just mummy and Ash, told her its just for big girls and Emily can't come cause she is just a baby. Ash seemed to enjoy herself.

    Evening ladies and bubs

Sounds like all our bubs are being similar at the moment with the cluster feeding and unsettled periods! Except for the time of day when they occur... with Isabel it occurs early afternoon into the evening.

We're over at mum and dad's at the moment and my sister has her, she's been napping for small intervals and then wakes screaming, think she has a pain in the tum. I'm worried now that she's not getting enough of the hind milk... the MCHN said that if she feeds for only 5 mins on one side, she's only getting the foremilk.

At least she doesn't have these unsettled periods at night time... although having said that she went down last night at midnight (after feeding for an hour, Isabel isn't the fastest feeder and does lots of comfort sucking) and woke again at 3am, then didn't go back to sleep til 5.30am. It wasn't like she wanted to be awake and party with us, she was screaming in pain. Poor chicken.

Ali - well done on your outing last night! Good effort with a week old bub. Hope your friends appreciated it

AJP - you'll have to show us the photos when they are done.

Det - lol @ your little porker Isabel is in 000 now, we've got some 0000 that still fits but not many

Nai - good work on the expressing! I might try it soon...

Hi to everyone else, Isabel is screaming again and I think its mum's turn... might need another feed...
