Hi girls,

Pretty sure Leon has a bit of colic & reflux, not sure how bad it is or what is "normal" but we have a paed appointment tomorrow so see what he says. Poor baby is always struggling with something, trying to fart or burp and regurgitating milk. He just looks so miserable and must be exhausted as he hardly gets any sleep.

Ali, I remember you asked about whether the stuffy nose and sniffles occus only during feeds. I paid extra attention and noticed that they do happen mostly during and straight after a feed so I'm glad that's normal!

Sorry for selfish post, just feeling down and want my baby to be happy and comfortable.

Oh and he's 1 month today!

Holly - :hug: I hear ya on wanting your baby to feel better. It is so hard when they are miserable. When Isabel is screaming on my shoulder, she takes a break and looks at me and looks so miserable... I just want to take all the pain away.

I started writing this post at about 9am... it is now 12.50pm... sigh!

Well after my glowing post about how good Isabel had been, the last few days she has been very unsettled during the day - yesterday she only slept for about two hours all up between 9am and 9pm.

My friend the MCHN tells me to be patient and that in "a few weeks" she will be a new baby. I know that this is probably one of the toughest patches (Det? AJP, shell? Correct me if I am wrong) - the lead up to the 6-8wk mark, but it is so hard when she just cries and cries and cries.

Yesterday was tough - I even put her in the car in the morning and then took her down the street in the pram in the arvo to try and settle her and she would only sleep for half an hour then wake and start crying again.

We had our usual Tuesday night gathering at our house and she cried the whole time, until about 9.30pm when she finally settled. Even over night she woke at about 2.45am and then didn't settle until close to 5am. I am exhausted today - thankfully DH has taken the day off work to do admin so he is relieving some of the pressure.

AJP - we were going to see Watchmen at iMax but we have now given up on that idea...

J has come out in her hormonal rash so she looks most unattractive at the moment - just in time for the meet tomorrow. I am looking forward to catching up with Odette and Melly there!

Holly and OP- big :hug: to you both. You two are great mums and keep telling yourself that. It is such a big learning curve and think of everything that you have accomplished so far your little ones. You both should be very proud of yuourselves. I remember when I first bathed DD (DP did the hospital bath so I was kind of afraid that I wouldnt be able to do it at home- and I also had a nightmare that dd's head went under the water and I couldnt get her out), then I bathed her and did a great job and I felt really proud- just little things like that build my confidence and Help me to be a little mroe relaxed which I think rubs off on her. Lots of :hug: for you both.
Kaz- THat is fantastic sleep!!!! My MCHN said not to wake up DD even if she sleeps for that long because she is gaining weight so it doesnt matter if she misses a feed- she seems to make up for it during her daily feeding frenzies anyway. My dogs are adjusting as well. I am not putting them out of the house for anyone either (only did it for the midwife), it has been a massive adjustment for them and they dont need anymore stress. Hope the visitors are helpful and dont ovestay their welcome.
Ellie- I think its so sensible for you to ban them from coming over at the moment. Its common sense that people who are sick should stay away and they should know better. Don't take offence to their emails, you are just being a good, protective mother for your little one.
Laura- You are doing so well!! First the job!! :hooray: And the gym!!!! :hooray: Good on you for looking after yourself. I hope Logan is behaving, that "no" word sounds evil!! Hopefully once he adjusts to having Bella around and having to share you his behaviour will get back to normal.
Shell- :ROFL: great one about DF's hearing!
SJ & Nai- I wouldnt worry about wearing your HAB when you have to go to the bathroom, these babies wee and poo in front of us all the time and even on us sometimes!!
SJ- How is Gracie sleeping today? Hope she is sleeping more for you.
Jols- How was your 6 week check up? Hope your iron levels are coming back up.

ali was just a midwife ck up still need to see the dr :rolleyes: was great thoguh, we had a chat about the birth and how it went, the bleeding etc... they think my heamorrage/servere bleeding was partly from the uterus but mostly from the tearing :o amazing that a tear can bleed so much, though i have a feeling i had varicos vains down there and perhaps thats where the bleeding came from.
iron levels are crap :lol: they should be between 5 and 26 and im on 6...!
haemaglobin is good gone from 88 to 126

op they have a fussy period at 5 weeks so maybe thats what isabel is having, millie was fussy last week, very uunsettled during the day, this fussy stage can start at 4 weeks through to 6 weeks, ours lasted for the week!

holly i hope things get better for leon and yourself soon :hug: its the hardest thing this motherhood stuff but its the most rewarding thing you'll ever do ~!

Jols- no wonder you are tired!! Iron levels that low and a newborn and a toddler!!! Dont kow how you do it!!! :hug: DP told me that I had more bleeding from when she was stitching me than the birth. In facvt I think he described the stitching phase to me as being a bit of a "blood bath" and I only loss less than 500mL!

Do you girls have to have a pap smear at your 6 week check up? It just so happens I am due for one and I am petrified of anything going near that area!! THey say it wont hurt by then but I dont know about that... :o

ETA- Ash is sleeping! :hooray: she has been quite a doll today! I even made DP and I scrambled eggs this morning!!!!

ali i seriously would have hated to have seem so much blood come from one area :o im sort of glad i was a little oblivious to what what going on down there!! though i do remember them changing the bluey pads and bedding under me very frequently!!
i hated anyone looking or touching me down there whilst in hospital so much so that i would shake uncontrollably, it was awful, i will wait to have mine for a few more months, im due too

Grace has got the hormone rash happening too :( Bummer. Went to see the MCHN today and she has put on 220g this week, is now 4.54kg. Still feeding well, yay!! And today she's sleeping!! I have noticed her sleep cycles are about 45mins then she starts squirming and waking up so I have been going and patting her when she squirms and it's working!! She's gone back to sleep twice!!

I'm due for a papsmear too, uck, I've had enough of ppl looking at my bits!!!!

i am not saying anything good about dd's sleep habits anymore....go to sleep child!!! :o

I'm jealous of those getting good space between feeds overnight, I'm lucky if she goes little longer than 3hrs!

Ali- Em hates sleeping at this time, usually can't settle til 10- 11ish. If you don't feel up to pap smear put it off couple months til you feel ready.

Heaven- Yay on weight gain and keep up with the resettling now will be very handy once sge starts sleeping thru that 45mins. Easier to do now than later.

AJP- God yr iron is in yr boots! Hopefully starts picking uo soon. At least yr Hb is looking good.

OP- yes things will get easier! 6 weeks roughly things will peak but start getting better. Just try to take each day at a time and try whatever works that day to settle her, try get out of the house too, fresh air will do you good and her crying won't seem so bad when your walking.

Holly- Let us know how yr appt goes tomor. I hope you get some help and able to get him more settled and comfortable.

Kaz- Howd you go with the visitors and them with your dog? Hope all smoothly. Great about the big sleep but I'd prolly be like you and panic, I remembe when Ash first slept 8 hours and I didn't cause I was up checking her all the time!

Ellie- Stay away from the gastro definately! Last thing you and bubs need.

laura- Good on you going to the gym, I struggle just taking the kids for a walk.

We've had a prob with some feeds, I don't know what prob is but 3 feeds in last 24 hours she is on the boob for like 10secs then comes off screaming then is desperate;y looking for it again then screaming so I try burp her and get wind out if that is prob but still does it. Feeding then takes forever and very stressful.

OP - I hear you with unsettled bubs - DS is only being settled when he's in my arms during the day, so I spend my days watching TV. He will tolerate a short putdown time (enough for me to go to the loo). I have to have him near me when he's not in my arms which makes food prep interesting and touch him every minute or so, and talk to him all the time! and I'm not saying how he is sleeping at night coz I'll curse the 2hr sleeps (and the hour it takes to settle him between feeds).

Plus I have to feed him before I put him in the car, when I get him out of the capsule (into the pram) and then feed again before into the capsule and when I get home. Looking forward to the 'big' change in 1-3 weeks time, and wishing he was a dummy baby!

Wow, I have gotten on twice today, unheard of! I have tried to explain to DH that getting on here is "me time", its one of the few things I can do that is just for me... I'm not washing clothes/nappies/dishes, making dinner or looking after Isabel. So he's tried to help me have a bit more time on here today!

Isabel had a good sleep this arvo but then screamed from 4pm, through a feed, til when I put her in the Ergo at about 5.30pm. Then she slept in the Ergo til 8pm when we bathed her and she started screaming again. She has only just stopped now. Sigh!

All the talk of pap smears - I had to have a swab with the speculum thing at the Obs office on Friday and it wasn't too bad. It is actually nice to know that things can go near that area without too much trauma for me!

Speaking of things going near that area, how many people are "back into it" with their DP??? DH is v. keen to get things going again but I'm thinking we should wait til the six week check and all clear.

Tarkine - we'll help each other get through this unsettled phase! It will end. I figure we just have to be the best mum we can be... no more. If it means holding DS all day, so be it.

AJP/shell - Isabel is doing the exact same thing with feeding! So bizarre.

SJ, well done on the weight gains and sleeping! Awesome!

Nai we've got the rash going on here too.

Not much else to report... the Obs office rang through my swab results, all clear down there. Just normal bugs - no infection. No idea why I smell then!! Will ask Obs on Tuesday - 6wk check.

Well 6 hours of awake time when she mornally sleeps so well in the evenings!!! I think it was because I had some visitors this arvo and DD woke up wanting a feed and I kept holding off and it must have upset her. She finally went down and has stayed down at 10:00pm.

The worst thing was I was trying to cook dinner, had ironing to do (as I wont have time tomorrow morning as that is when she normally is at her worst) and the poor dogs hadnt even been fed all day, it started raining and I had washing to still bring inside and I just wanted someone to take her off me and try and settle her. I ended up cooking one handed as I had had it up to my eyeballs feeding her for 6 hours almost constantly on and off the boob with her just biting on my nipple and not sucking any milk.
Hoping for a better day tomorrow....

Shell- I agree with you, the longer feeding goes on the more stressful it becomes. I hope tomorrow is a beter day for you as well. :hug:

Jols- years ago when I had iron levels around yours, I had to have an injection of iron into my buttocks every fortnight for 3 months!!!

Tarkine- I hope that you have some support at home. :hug: You must just be exhausted. :hug:

OP- that is great that DP now understands that BB is your time. You have given me hope that pap smear wont be as bad as what I think it will. When did all your stitches fall out? Mine are still there. Great to hear that all your results came back all clear. On the DTD business, DP has asked me twice in the last week!!! :o I said to him that we will be waiting until the 6week checkup!! He has been so affectionate with me lately though which surprises me becase I thought he would be completely tunrned off after seeing childbirth!!

Another question for you girls on the DTD front....you dont have to answer if you dont want but what contraception are you girls going to use? I got a script for the mini pill at hospital but havent filled it yet, I also want to make sure that it is going to work as I really dont want to fall pregnant again for a while. How deos it work when DD's feeds arent regular yet?

all good- MR L a bit unsettled today but zzz now.
had my 6 week check up yesterday- all is good- OB says I can have another 4 or 5 kids if i want- YEAH RIGHT!!! try convincing DH that !!! Pelvic floor is nice and tight again and uterus back to size it should be! Maybe now i will be game to look down there again!!!

OP- as for waiting for check up to DTD- well how can i say this- we tried b4 the appointment and i ended up opening up my wound again- so if you try - take it real easy. Got the OK from OB yesterday to resume things now but! Also asked about migranes and got a script for a tab to take on the oneset- maybe i will get it as an emergency - not sure. He said it could be till the 3 month mark till our hormones settle down again and its very common- great!

Tracey- good to hear from you hon- so glad the rose is blooming- thinking about you!

Nai- we have te hormone rash here- now it comes and goes- it is worse after a feed and is gone in an hour or so- Levi also has stork marks as well, and his eyes still clog up everynow and then - so between his rash, his eyes and his stork marks- looks like he has done 10 rounds with mike tyson

OP DH is keen to DTD too but im not :lol: i know it will be tender when we do try so that puts me off, will try soon though!!!
i too have a slight odour down there but not too worried, i only have a slight discharge too so only in liners as well.
hope isabel is more settled today.

ali contraception :think: probably the dreaded condoms here, i hate the pill were probably not having anymore kids so one of us will get fixed at some stage down the track!!
my stitches fell out by about the 3 week mark!!

Ali- I had a nightmare afternoon yesterday too. DD would not sleep!! She was just wide awake but obviously tired and didn't sleep from 1.30pm to 8.00pm!! That is too long for her to be up! She was so cranky. And DH was at work :( Thought I was going to lose it, lol. She eventually went to sleep and we had a good night though!! Slept from 8-1.30 then only 15mins to settle and slept til 5, then straight back to sleep until 8.30am! So I'm feeling better today. But omg talk about engorgement during the night!!
shell- aww...you must be so tired with DD feeding frequently over night!! :hug: I have been having the same feeding problem at some feeds Shell! I don't know what it is either!! She goes on then starts crying and pulling back then opens her mouth for more. It happens alot on the second side so I'm thinking she's not really very hungry anymore by that time and wants more of a comfort suck and not much milk but it's coming out too fast.
AJP- Thanks! I got some really good photos on the weekend, she finally cooperated and let me take some.
tarkine- Have you got a sling? The hug-a-bub has been my lefe saver lately. During the day DD wakes up every time I put her down!! So frustrating!!
OP- lol, me too, on here is my me time! We haven't DTD yet but I think it's different with a c-section, they said not to until 6wks. Trying to keep DH away until then, lol. Not sure what he's seeing though, all I see if flabby stomach and leaky boobs! Oh, there's a thought, how do you DTD without leaking all over DH, lol, will have to wear a bra and breast pads...sexy...

Contraception, hmm....I don't want to use the pill or anything b/c it stuffed up my cycle so bad last time!! Will probably just be condoms for us. I hate them too though, lol, could end up with an oopsie baby, oh well! Does anyone know how long I have to wait to fall pregnant after a c-section. lol. Not that I'm thinking about it yet but will just have to be EXTRA careful with the contraception once we start DTD again if it's dangerous if we have an accident too soon.

We always seem to have issues after the 4am feed, seems to be the very windy time and wanting to poo heaps so takes ages for her to settle with the pain and trying to push it all out then she vomits. Sick of feeling tired, like the rest of you prolly are!

As for dtd we didn't do it til 6 months with Ash. Considering Df has low sex drive anyway and atm neither of us could think of anything worse, lol, way too tired! We'll prolly just use condoms too, I hate the pill makes me so nauseas, Df always said after #2 he'd get the snip but now its time he flat out refuses and I refuse to do anything to me so might be abstinence for us!

shell were the same i feel DH should have the snip but hes not 'ready' but is happy for me to have my tubes tied. which i dont feel i should, ive done all the hard work!!!!

Hmmm as for DTD, definitely not until the 6w check or until 2w after discharge stops (whichever is later). We will be using condoms until DP gets the snip - he is looking into it now. I have had 2 pregnancies, 2 labours and 2 emergency c/s - I've done my bit so now he can go under the knife. As we found in the research no man has ever died from having a vasectomy. 5 women die each year getting their tubes tied....

Det- You absolutely inspire me! I need to do my pelvic floor more often, although I havent had any accidents even when I had a sneezing fit the other day so I am hoping for the best.

Nai- Ashlyn still has that hormone rash, it kind of comes and goes. I wonder when it will stay away...

Jols- Good to hear that stitches should fall out soon for me. Mine are only external but I think I would feel much better if they werent there as I would know that it is all healing up. We have a little bit of gunky eye here...how do I get rid of that? My mum told me to squeeze some breast milk onto DD's eyes but I was thinking that might not be pleasant for her...anyone have any suggestions or is my mum right?

Heaven- Those photos are stunning!!!! Did you take them?? SO creative! I love how her headband is just pink! Great effect!! I thought I was going to break down last night as well. It is hard when they are awake for so long when you know they should be sleeping. DD went down at 10ish and actually slept through until 4:45 (almost 7hours!!!!!) then I couldnt get her back to sleep until 8am! So far we have been on track today and she is sleeping now. Going to do some jobs now and put my feet up in case she has another episode like last night!!

Shell- might have to pick up a few of those meals when they are on special next or cook earlier in the day when she is sleeping. After that 4am feed (or around then) is usually when I have the most difficulty settling DD. I dont know whether I am less patient then as I am soooooo tired or what but it is hard she seems so awake then and I dont even turn the lights on!! Hope things get better as each day passes.

These men...they need to take some responsibility!! I dont blame you girls for not wanting your tubes tied. It seems so final, esp after all that hard work of pregnancy. I am interested to hear how many of you have had issues with the pill. I was on one called Levlen and never really had any problems on it (well not that I was aware of) however I have never taken the mini pill. They were also talking to me about implanon (sp?) but I dont know if I like that idea. We might just not have sex! :ROFL: DP would hate to hear that. Actually I probably have a higher sex drive than him but its all just a bit to hard. :ROFL:

Had quite a good day..went out this morning to meet a gf at a coffee shop who has a 12wk old! I cant believe the size difference!!! Shows how much they grow in such a small space of time, DD cried in the car on the way home but the poor poppit was so hungry as she was due for a feed. My boobs were already leaking. DP booked our dogs in for a hair but tomorrow so I am glad they are going to get some pampering. My dogs really have been so good with DD. My poodle/shihtzu dog Max loves DD. He follows me wherever I go with her and sniffs her feet, my other dag Winston just wants to play with his ball! LOL!

Anyway, hope you are all well. Off to wash up and then watch bold and the beautiful!

Pap smears - not looking forward to this! I was actually due for one in May last year, so well overdue...I think I'll wait a bit, 6 week check up is too soon!

Sex - same deal, will wait. We only dtd 3 times during pregnancy...I'm sure another month or 3 or 10 won't make much difference! (sorry DP!)

Birth control - ummm probably abstinance! I don't want to fall pregnant again for a while and I don't want hormones messing with my body and I hate condoms! In all honesty, I have no idea, will have to think about it :think:

Laura, I really really hope you're feeling better.

Didn't end up going to the paed. Had a chiro appointment and Leon got adjusted and massaged. He LOVED it! He just zonked out with his arms above his head. My chiro convinced me to cancel the paed appointment and see how I go with him being adjusted and showed me how to massage his belly to help relieve the wind. Hope I'm doing the right thing :dunno:

He actually had a good night last night once he settled! Settled finally at around midnight, and then fed at 2:15am, 5:15am and 7:30am, settled fairly easily between feeds. Hope he continues this as I'm so over feeding every 2 hours and less.

Holly- How often do you need to take him to the chiro? How cute him just loving it like that. Hopefully it does the trick. I have heard it can help with settling bubs.

Ali- I have a friend whos bub is 6 weeks older than Emily and I'm always saying how just that short time the difference between them is amazing. I think with the mini pill you have to really watch about taking it at the same time every day for it to work.

Nai- Thanks for that info, used that on Df not much response from him tho, think he'll actually be happy with the abstinence idea!

Emily is actually asleep right now which is quite unusual considering its her unsettled time normally. Hope it means a good night.

AJP - how do you put bubs into your Ergo? I know there are a couple of different ways of doing it?

re Contraception - not an issue in our house, but my hearts go out to you girls. I hate the pill.

I do have a sling - Ergo but have tried to get bubs into it twice and he didn't like it and kicked up a storm - will watch the video again and see what I'm doing wrong. I don't mind just sitting with him on my boob all day, but just get restless and need to pee, although I do have a few books I want to read, so I read them aloud to him. I'm really sure he's interested in learning about the Dalai Lama and how to meditate :rofl:. I have DH at home with me, so I do have some support (we won't talk about yesterday though - DH has a nasty habit of being awake for 2 days straight then bombing out which happened yesterday so I had monster boy all day with no break).

Bragging about my first MCHN visit today - the nurse nearly fell off her chair when we told her his birthdate - 4 week old having his first visit! Porker boy is 4.72kg and is longer and his head is bigger, but all within the 50 percentile (unlike SIL whos baby was off the growth charts at his first MCHN visit). We are booked in to get Whooping cough vaccine due to the outbreak.

Sorry gotta go.. natives are restless and want more booby time.

AJP - That's amazing that you could bleed that much from a tear. Was it a big tear? My iron levels dropped to 65 after birth but found out today that they are back to 113. Still needing my nana naps of an arvo - not sure how you keep going through that wall. Have you checked out Floradix yet?

Arrrgh DD1 came into our bed this morning at 5am with a sore tummy. She now just spewed everywhere! I hope it's not gastro and I hope J doesn't get it - also hope DP and I don't get it!!

Jols- Thankyou! Lucky you millie sleeping all day!!
Shell- The early morning feed is the worst here too, she takes ages to settle afterwards! Maybe she's just not tired after a big sleep, but I am!! lol.
Nai- Oh, so jealous of all you girls getting to meet! Oh no, that's not good about DD being sick :( Hope no one else catches it!
Ali- Yeah, I took the photos, really pleased with how they turned out, can't believe she cooperated! lol. Hope you had a good night of sleep last night!! Oh, my puppy needs a hair cut too, he's getting a bit out of control, lol.
Holly- awww.....that is so cute him loving his massage. I hope the chiro helps!
tarkine- DD sometimes gets cranky when I first put her in the HAB but I just have to bounce around for a while and she finally goes to sleep, it's heaps quicker to settle without using it though.
Kaz- How are you going? How's the recovery?

AFM- I don't know what DDs problem is with being so fussy and crying while feeding atm. But this morning I noticed her poo was more green than the usual yellow. What's that about?? Is she sick??

Good news...fed at 9pm..2am...7am....and mummy feels almost human YIPPEE! But what effect will this have on the day 'sigh' time will tell. Why is it that when you're having a good day with bub everything else falls apart...murphy's law I guess!

Evening ladies

Well we have had a mixed bag with Isabel recently. Not too bad during the day but pretty shocking at night. Last night she didn't settle until midnight, then started waking at 3am but wasn't really awake until 4am, but I was awake listening to her from 3... :rolleyes:

Anyway I fed her at 4am, she fell asleep so I put her down and she woke straight up SCREAMING. Like I was sticking pins in her. So picked her up, burped, still crying so I fed the other side, fell asleep, put her down, woke up SCREAMING.

Then proceeded to scream for another hour.

By 5.30am I was beside myself - crying my eyes out and at the end of my tether. So I woke up DH.

He tried for another 45mins til we gave up at about 6.15am and I stuck her back on the boob, in bed. She fell asleep and stayed asleep for an hour... then fed some more, then I got her back in her cradle and she slept for 2.5hrs.

Worst night so far. She was just screaming so loud. I felt like the worst mum ever - I was getting angry and frustrated with her for screaming, then getting upset and angry at myself for feeling like that about a little baby.

Hence the crying. Sigh!

She has been good today - had a few sleeps and is asleep now. Have been hanging with my mum and sister just in case she's feral - I can hand her off.

Onto other matters... I bought new jeans today!! So sick of wearing maternity. I bought a size 14 - I used to be a 12 so that's not bad. They are only Target but they were $25 (bargain) and they are nice and I feel good so that's the main thing.

With regards to DTD - reason I was asking is because we tried and it hurt, so we stopped. I want to wait til the 6wk check too... worried about doing damage! Esp with my "issues" down there!

Contraception - was going to get the mini pill but I don't think we will as we want to try for number 2 soon (can't believe I just typed that!!! :lol: ) and we don't want to mess with my hormones that are already messed up! So I think it'll be condoms/rhythm method until we are ready to try. I don't think its an issue until I get my period anyway! My sister still hasn't ovulated and my niece is 9mths old.

DH is going to get the snip once we are done procreating. He's already said he'll do that! No arguments about it in our house.

Laura - hope you are ok hun! Let us know when you are better - worried about you!

SJ - gorgeous pics! I love the full length one, so pretty. Don't know about the green poo - has she ha any formula?? Can't remember you saying anything about that, esp now that your BF is going so well. Hmm. Maybe ring the 24hr MCHN hotline?

Ellie - so jealous of your night! When will I get one like that??

Nai - how's the fam? Is it gastro? Hoping it isn't...

Tarkine I've an Ergo too - do you have the infant insert? You can't use it without, until they are 4mths old. If you do, I clip the Ergo around my hips, then pick up DD in the insert and hold her with my left arm supporting her, use my R arm to put the R shoulder strap on, making sure DD's legs/feet are hanging out underneath the two black straps. Then I use the R arm to support DD (holding the front of the Ergo) and use the L arm to put on the L shoulder strap, making sure DD's head is on top of the L shoulder strap. Then I can use both hands to clip the strap at the back of my neck, then pull the shoulder straps really tight. DD loves it - she likes being all snug and tight.

Hope that makes sense... so she ends up with her head near my L boob and feet right down near my R hip. Diagonal style.

Shell - hope your night was ok!

Holly - that's awesome about the chiro! Hope little Mr L is doing well today.

AJP - Footscray was a bit far for me too.

Nai - glad the meet was good! Isabel is really chucky ATM too. Got our six week check on Monday with MCHN, might bring it up then. It prob "just a phase"!

just an update.
i do have mastitis thats why i have been so sick. i went to the doctor today and got some antibiotics.
ok going back to lie on the couch :)

He also gets unsettled/windy/redfaced when I eat something he doesn't like - coconut, too much chocolate etc. Also his bum gets quite red from garlic and chilies.

Laura - sorry to hear its mastitis - could that be affecting your milk supply (sorry really don't know diddles about mastitis)

OP - thanks for the advice on the Ergo - I did try putting DS into it as you described but he kept looking at me like I was crazy or something and decided to stick his elbow out onto the strap (yep I got messed up with getting him in).. Will try it again tomorrow. Sorry to hear that bubs was so unsettled. Definitely worth waking DH up to get him to give you some 'out' time. Great news about the jeans - I haven't dared put on my pre-preggie clothes yet, but getting sick of wallowing in the mat clothes. Will try the clothes on tomorrow when its a bit cooler here.

AFM - got out of the house today - our pram got a flat tyre, so DH had to fix it yesterday and we walked the 2km to the shops - the most exercise I've done since January and it nearly killed me, but I did it and now feeling really tired but good. Just heard a major bottom burp happen in the bedroom from DS - and more grunting happening, so I'm not going near that nappy, without a biohazard suit.

Tarkine- sounds like all that boobiness has done well for him weight wise! If he gets into liking the carrier will be handy for you. Em loves sleeping in the hugabub won't hear a peep out of her til her next feed.

OP- What an awful sounding night! I remember Ash having nights like that, would just watch tv and feed, rock or whatever to get her to sleep! Hopefully they are few and far between.

Ellie- wow wish Em would go that far between feeds!

Heaven- Not sure about the poos but would get it checked out, green doesn't sound too good. I didn't realise you took the pics yourself thats great.

I am just feeling so tired today think 4 weeks no sleep catching me. Alot of nights I'm finding I'm waking feeling really sweaty and nauseas. Plus headaches, think I need more than 2 hours sleep at a time! Em slept so well today going longer between feeds don't know why she can't at night! Df is on school holidays next week thank god, will be great to have him home for 2 weeks, going to make sure I get naps!

Laura :hug: So sorry you have mastitis, how nasty. You should feel heaps better within 24hours of taking the abs though. Keep up feeding and massaging those bbs! (feeding DD that is, not the bbs!)

Shell, I go to the chiro weekly-fortnightly, depends what shape I'm in but not sure what it will be like with Leon. I just go with what my chiro recommends! We are both going again tomorrow but that's because we both needed a big adjustment yesterday but once we're in shape the visits become less frequent. I really hope it helps with the colic and reflux. How was Em last night?

Heaven, no idea about the green poo. When L is fussy on the boob he usually needs to burp/fart/poop or my flow is too fast.

Ellie, great night last night by the sounds of it! How was today though?

OP, I sooo hear you on the night time frustration :hug: When L is unsettled and won't stop crying I bounce with him on the fitball, usually helps...! It's so hard and no one can ever prepare you for how challenging & difficult motherhood is. Glad the day was better though. It's great when you have family around to help!

Tarkine, LOL at the bottom burp - hope it was a good one! Went for a walk today as well in an attempt to settle DS - he didn't sleep at all, screamed for the first 5 minutes and we were going to turn back as it looked like it wasn't settling him but then he calmed down - phew! It's so embarrassing walking around with a screaming baby, you feel so hopeless!

Anyway, had a really good night last night. He fed at 11pm, 3am and 6:30am! I couldn't believe it, everytime he woke up and I'd check the time I was amazed. Hope tonight is the same, he's due at 9:30, then I'll try and sleep. I was really going with the demand feeding but I've been advised by the MCHN as well as my chiro to try and hold off and feed no less than 3 hourly to help with his colic and reflux - hope it's working! Will be back with an update tomorrow.

poor levi had his 8 week injections today- he was really good getting them done, but started to get grumpy and uncomfy a few hours later so i had to give him panadol. Poor poss hardly slept all day- and he had a belly ache which he has now manage to evacuate with a big poo- phew. He is zzzz now longest he has been asleep all day was 40 mins whilst i walked to picked kids up from school and home again so hopefully he sleeps well tonite- still not going more than 3-4 hours at nite .

Laura- hope the a/b kick in and you have a great party- live it up!

OP- you poor poss with ms Isabel at nite- it gets so frustrating some nites. Hang in there - remember the mantra!!!

Heaven- hmm green poo?? My DS poo used to sometimes be green . Like the colour of an irish moss cough drop lol! He would bake it for anywhere from 7 days to 18 days and when i came out it was green and stagnent! Where as DD would poo everyday and they were getting the same milk at the same time from me! Different bodies - different kids
Has bubs been going often?? DS poo was mustard to start with and then changed to green over time. If you are still worried, how about googling it or ring the MCH line - they might know!

Tarkine- Lol at the bio- hazard suit- good on you for going for a walk- its nice to get out there and feel the sun on you isnt it!

Ali- def go the breastmilk in the eye- or saline- get the saline for cotact lenses rather than the individual vials- heaps cheaper!! Gunky eye is fine as long as the gunk doesnt turn green! Then there is a bug there- levi grew a bug and had to get a/b drops for a couple of days. The gunk is all the pollution in the air and the fact that their tear ducts arnt functioning properly yet and cant clear the gunk. Also dont be surprised if your bubs starts to get sniffly as well- the tear duct when it is working drains down into the nose and clears the nose- if tear duct not working then nose isnt being cleared . Hence bubs may sneeze more and be sniffly- all normal!!!


Shell- the sweaty feeling can sometimes be a part of b/feeding. Damm hormones. It takes up to 3 months for them to settle down so we can have lovely hormone rushes which can cause some lovely side effects till then. Just watch your sugar levels as well.

Is anyone having trouble or noticing their sugar levels changing as well??I am having heaps of probs with them. Never usually do, but as our insulin levels are controlled by hormones and mine are all over the shop at the moment, so is my sugar levels. I go low really quickly if i havent eaten for a couple of hours and man i cant drink enough- drinking over 4 lts of water, plus other fluids!
