Gee lots to catch up on here!! Sorry - have to be quick as off to MHCN for 8w check and vaccinations - but wanted to pop in and say hi I'm here and will be back later with personals :D
Yeah Emilia only does 1 sleep cycle at some point in the day. We are out so much the poor little poppit can't really get into a good day routine.
Pretty average night last night. Just wanted to feed and feed. She fed at 6pm, 8pm, 11pm, 1am, then I was tired so I swapped to the spare room and put her in with me, and she fed again at 5am, and 8am. So a little tired today, but OK. The night before was great. 6pm to bed then fed at 3am and 6am. Why can't I have that every day??!! Anyway off to playgroup
Yeah we get one sleep cycle usually but I often try to resettle for another, in the bouncer or if Df is around to do things I let her sleep on me. If we are out and about its a bit harder it becomes more broken sleep, bit in the car, bit whereever we are.
Meg- Always after a good night you get a bad, think they want to keep us on our toes. When E is off the boob we'll have to have weekends away and teach our partners lessons, lol. I'm glad J is settling better, guess it must be very hard for them, I think it'll be fun for them when they start crawling, also troublesome when they start touching there toys!
Tarkine- Lol at the hairy nipple for A, what a shock for him! I try get Em outside or even in the day she sleeps next to the window so gets some light in.
We have our bedtime routine here too and I think it has helped she settles easier than what she was. I also bought a tummy tub and I think its definately worth the price. Em loves it and the way it is they can just relax in it with water up to their shoulders so they're nice and warm and I let her sit for 5 mins or so, helps with wind too. Think it helps relax her for the night.
oohhhhh shell i second that night away!! drinkie poos!!!! yay!!
mmmm they all seem the same with the sleep cycles thanks for that
i really wanted a tummytub, how much was it shell?
Was $50, Df keeps saying to me 'so you paid $50 for a bucket' but she'll use it for a number of months plus I know I'll get a good price reselling it on ebay when I'm done.
I worry about the sleep cycle thing cause Ash was a nightmare as a baby, would take us over an hour to settle for 30-40min sleep. We ended up at a sleep clinic, so worry this time round, would love to avoid it.
where from???
i worry too about bad habits forming, its hard to resetle though with noisy 2 yr old around  though i did :fingerscrossed: just manage to resettle just now
DD is sleeping for about 1.5 to 2hrs during the day here which is pretty good. Mostly on me though! If I put her down it's more likely she'll just wake up after 1 sleep cycle.
BUT how are you all getting them to sleep so long at night?? I wish I could. She only sleeps for 4hrs 8.30-12.30 then she seems to be up every 2 hrs or less!! She used to have 2 long sleeps over night instead of just one and now I can't get her to :( Note to DD early morning is not the time to cluster feed!!!!
With the sleep cycles during the day - DD will usually only do one if we are at home, but settles relatively easily into the cycle. Resettling, not so much
If we are out, she will do a massive long sleep if we're in the pram or car on the move.
At night, SJ, I hear you - Isabel used to do 5hrs then 3hrs, now I'm lucky if I get 3. Last night she didn't settle until midnight and was awake again at 2.30am, had a dream feed, then she woke again at 5am, tried to do another dream feed but she was wide awake and smiling at the world. Changed nappy and did other side, she went down after that but woke an hour later, DH brings her in for a feed  Tried to tell him she didn't need a feed and he was like "oh well let's try anyway" and sticks her on the boob (feeding in bed). Got her back to sleep and got another hour and a half.
Should I be trying to resettle without feeding? Surely she can't be hungry? I guess she can...
Its just making me so tired!
What's a tummy tub?
Just had Miss J's 8 week check and she is doing very well - still 50th percentile for everything! 4.82kg, 56cm long and 38cm head. She also had her injections. She screamed but stopped as soon as I put her on the bb.
We went away for the weekend to Ballarat and stayed overnight with my mum to see how she would be travelling and sleeping in the portacot. It wasn't too bad and she slept pretty well so I think if we do it semi-regularly she will get used to it.
I keep having people drop over so don't get time to catch up on personals - Grrr!
Tarkine - LOL at the hairy nipple!!
LOL, DH is the same, 'she's hungry' 'no she's not' 'well try and feed her anyway' I don't think so!
He tried to make me feed her when she'd just been fed this morning coz I had to go to the Dr and he was scared she'd be hungry when I was gone, lol, I haven't left him alone when she might need a feed yet. I left some ebm anyway though!!
Had to have my 6 wk check and the dreaded pap smear. I'm so over ppl looking up there!! lol
DD is asleep in her bassinette :crossfingers:
Jols-Sleeping during the day is gettting better now. A longer sleep in the arvo. She is asleep in her bouncer at the moment. Most sleeps will just be 1 sleep cycle but maybe 2 out of the day sleeps we might get a second sleep cycle. Still having issues with the night sleeping.
Shell- LOL at your DF's tummy tub bucket comments! I PMSL as my DP wouldsay the same thing. I have been having heaps of baths with DD and fill it up nice and deep and she likes it really warm ad I sort of put her so she is upright up to her neck and then she lies back for some of the time kicking her legs.
Tarkine- Hairy nipple hey! I think that is the name of a shot drink. Maybe save that one in your memory bank for DS's 21st! :D
OP- I posted in here on Saturday about DTD and my experience with it. Prob be back a couple of pages. PM me if you want to chat more about it. It certainly was different. SOrry you and DH didnt get out on Saturday night. Hopeully Miss I was better last night.
Heaven- still having issues with night time sleep as well and i hope that early morning cluster feeding goes away. DD was like that the first couple of weks and it was awful as I was so tired.
Megie- we had an awful night last night as well. 7:30, 10pm, 12am, 2:30, 4:30 and 6am, 9am!!!! I was so exhausted. THat was the worst night we have had since week 1! Hoping it was a one off or the 6wk thing. Hoping you get better sleep tonight and me too!
Nai- hope the vaccinations went well.
Are you girls going to get the whooping cough injection for yourselves? I am gong to ask for it. Well I left DD with DP this morning and did groceries and he coped quite well. Getting my hair done tomorrow morning (WOO HOO!!!) and DP will have DD for an hour and a half by himself, then his sister is coming over to help for the last hour so I will be out of the house for 2.5hours to relax. The only thing is will I be able to relax for that amount of time away from my precious baby girl?
I had other questions I wanted to ask you girls and now I have forgotten! BBL
I remember my questions now...
What size clothes is everyones baby in now and also what size nappie ifyou are using disposables?
Ash is now mainly in 000 clothes now due to her length. SHe was 52.5cm at birth and I ahvent had her measured in 3wks so I am sure she is much longer. and I am finidng the newborn nappies a little tight for her but am not sure if the infant ones will be too big. I still have a box of newborn nappies unopened but cant find the receipt. Do you think if I took them to coles they would exchange them for some infant?
Ali - I exchanged a box of newborns.. had the receipt though.. I guess you could try? Alex went into the infant nappies awhile ago - he was wetting the newborns through, as well as his bedding and clothing.
AJP - Alex wasn't sleeping during the day - I'd get maybe a 1.5hr sleep out of him at around 9am but then that was it - cat naps and only on me or in the pram. He's had two sleeps today both about 2hrs (is down at the moment and has been down since 1.30pm), BUT I've had to go and lay with him in bed - just snuck out of bed. Last night was night three of co-sleeping - the ONLY way I can get him to sleep through (beyond a series of 3hr then 2hr and sometimes 1hr sleeps (the time shortens as the night goes on). He wakes twice a night for a nappy change.
Really don't know what to do, whether to try and get him back into his bassinette or just keep co-sleeping - not sure what to do when he starts rolling.
Tarkine- I am co-sleeping now for pat of the night. DD sleeps on her bassinette for her first sleep (which is normally the big one) then moves into the bed with me at about 12 (usually when I am heading to bed) she then sleeps next to me and feeds in the bed and we normally get out of bed at about 8-9am. I was changing DD during the night but would find it woke her up to much so now once I am in bed I dont do a nappy change at night unless she really really stinks as it wakes her up too much. I just make sure I put bepanthen on her bum at her last nappy change (about 11:30pm). That made a difference with getting her back to sleep quicker. HTH.
I too coslepp some of the night. Usually I can get her into her cradle for the first feed, which is anywhere between 1am and 4am, then I might get her back for another 2 to 3 hours in the cradle. Anything after 5am I generally jsut put her in with me.
I have her 8 week check tomorrow.
She is now mainly in 000 but still is in some 0000. But she was 3 weeks early, so a bit smaller.
heaven - be it that it is DH's second, he doesn't really care if I leave her with him and go out. She will take a bottle (more than DS did) so he is fairly comfy being left alone.
Nai - Good idea to get them used to the portacot. Gotta go DS needs me
BBL
Tarkine- If you are happy with co-sleeping stick with it then maybe once he is more settled try the cot. I sleep with Em at moment prolly when she is about 4 months I'll move her to the cot.
Ali- we're in 000, nappies we are using up the last of the newborn box then will move onto next size up. I'm glad I didn't buy too many. I don't think I need whooping cough vac, think they checked my immunity prior to getting pregnant.
Nai- Be nice to get away for weekend. Glad yr appt went well. How is she doing post needles?
OP- Tummy tub is like a bucket bath for bubs, google it for better description. Its been quite handy. If your happy to settle her with feed I wouldn't worry, I usually try the dummy if she wakes not too long after feed and if that doesn't work I go for the feed.
Heaven- we usually get 4hrs average between wake ups or 3.5. If she wakes before 3hrs I try the dummy first.
AJP- I got the tummy tub from baby gallery in clayton, I just googled stockists and that was closest to me.
Df has given me his cold. Had a nice day, couple friends over for the afternoon.
Hey girls
good to hear you are all travelling along nicely!
WHOOT!
Going good here- hetic as usual- but that is my life lol
Twin went back to school today- OMG my ears were ringing from the silence today- it was awesome! I even stayed at home all day except for school drop off and pick up- only the second time i have done so since Levi was born- oops!
LOL- Levi is sitting up in his swing watching the teletubbies at the moment whilst i am typing this -he was dancing as well- lasted a whole 15 mins- but hey it was good!
Ali- Levi is in size 00 clothes well and truly- has been out of newborn nappies for 6 weeks now and in 4-8kg nappies. I have 2 full boxes of newborn nappies left that i have to swap over for bigger ones somehow. Actaully thinking of going the next size up again - 6-11kg when i finish this lot! He is a big boy lol- I reckon he would be close to 7kg now.
He has had full head control for a couple of weeks and extremely alert and vocalising heaps and smiling! Its awesome.
As for sleep- well- he goes down at nite around 9.30pm and this is his big sleep- sleeps usually till 3ish and then feeds again at 6ish now. During the day he feeds around every 2 to 3 hours. He usually has a 3 sleeps as well which are anything from 30mins to 2 hours long- just depends . I often wait until he hits that second sleep cycle before putting him into his bed- except overnite- he gets fed and straight back to bed- awake or asleep! He is a champ and has learnt to go to sleep on his own in the cot sometimes as well- which makes a big difference. Mind you my twins were never like this- they were hell!! So i have learnt this time around and scored a cruzy bubs- thank god!!!
His whole routine is still on demand- he sleeps when he is tired- feed when he is hungry etc- but somehow he manages to get himself into his own patterns that work around mine and the twins lives as well- what a champ!
We arnt co-sleeping here- levi sleeps in his cot in his own room- but have been know to bring him in after the 6am feed for cuddles and extra zzzz- not now but as school is back- but weekends and hols- mmmmm.
Shell- love the look of those tummy tubs- how cute. We have been using a baby bath, but levi is too long for it now, and our bath is deep- so we just keep on squishing him in the baby bath- he loves it ! So nice that you guys are sharing a cold-NOT!
Also had my immunity checked when i got pg and was immune to everything including whooping cough so i dont have to worry about it- phew
hmm think i have answered everybody's questions etc
sorry that i havent personalised but cant remember who asked who lol
take care girls and OP i should be at MG on wednesday- Levi going to see pead at 11.30 so going after that. We are not seeing pead for any particular reason, but DH is paranoid that something must be wrong- its too good to be true- so he wants our pead to check him out. I know that everything is fine, but i guess i cant hurt and puts DH mind at ease- i have mother's instinct and he doesnt i guess.
Going to be starting pilates on Friday as well- looking forward to it!! Its a class that you can take your bubs with you! How awesome is that- so that will be ace!- will let you know how it goes.
mwah girls !
