    Hey Laura and baby blip!
Whoo we have our own little group.

I am going pretty good at the moment. Levi will be 2 weeks old tommorow- feels like he has always been here!

Last couple of days he has been cluster feeding heaps all afternoon- trying to build my milk up for me. thank goodness its the weekend and DH was home to help out- also we have had heaps of visitors this weekend so everything all over the place. The rest of the day and nite he was feeding 3-4 hourly, but every 10-15 mins for the past 3 hours- you feel like a cow!

How are you doing laura?? I guess you are still in hossy. Hossy was hard and Levi was so unsettled and didnt sleep overnite whilst i was there- but as soon as i got home he slept at nite- no more than 4 hours at a time, but better than none!

It is like an adventure trying to learn all the things that make my bub happy, calm, content, upset and everything in between. Its the challenging part and you no sooner work them out and then they go and change on you!

How are you going Baby Blip- Its hard when your bub is in special care and you have to leave him. My twin were in special care/NICU for 33 days. It was so tough. Feel free to vent here !!
take care girls and look forward to chatting more!
    let the adventures begin!

    hello ladies!
    how are we doing?

Darren has it in his head that it's a really swell idea to have his 'witching' hour from 12:30am-1:30/2am! but we're getting there. he ended back in hospital monday night becuase he wasnt settleing at all, so we race down to A&E and got him checked out and he was admited again - he has oral thrush that flared up with the medication the home dom. nurse gave him (stupid cherry flavored stuff...FOR A NEW BORN?!?!?!) plus really bad wind aaand jusr cranky about the whole thing. so i spent ANOTHER night in the hosptial with him (one of the nurses in the pediactric ward asked me "why are you back, i know i can get his wind up...but this is extream" so now when we go out we have to make sure we have 1) infants friend - for the wind 2) nose spary (sayleen stuff) for his snuffles and 3) oral thrush stuff dactarin. plus all the other stuff we need for babies! plus with the oral thrush im expressing so we go any where for a long time i need to take my pump other wise i end up with hawt wet patches!

any one else useing cloth here? we are *trying* and its working (thus far...)

Finally getting around to posting here...

Congratulations to all the new mamas!!!

My name is Selina and I had my beautiful baby boy Oliver on 13th February - he's a week old today! He's the first bub for DH and I. He's a wonderful bub with lots and lots of dark hair!

I already know a few of you - hope to get to know everyone better.

Blip: I hope Darren is doing okay. Must be such a pain to be in and out of hossy like that.

Blip: Yeah - maybe we'll have to let Moose know about the Baby Buddies group in case she doesn't know. And Antheia. Glad you and Darren are doing well.

I'm well. The worst is sleep deprivation - by the end of the day I start feeling a bit overwhelmed by everything - but after some sleep I usually feel better able to cope again. Oliver is a dream baby - he's hardly ever unsettled... but I don't want to speak too soon. He slept 6 hours last night - I couldn't believe it when I realised.
DH, Oliver and I have been on a few outings now - to the supermarket, and into town today. I can't get over how long it takes to get ready to go places when there's a baby involved!

    How is everyone doing?

Have some more time to post while Oliver is having a good sleep. I've been home from hossy for five days now... Oliver is one week and two days old! DH and I slowly settling into life with Oliver. Like I mentioned, I get very overwhelmed sometimes - usually of an evening/night when the lack of sleep catches up to me. I've had one or two little cries, and DH has been wonderful - giving me lots of hugs when I need them.
Oliver is a wonderful bub - doesn't get unsettled very often, and has even been sleeping 5-6 hours a night from 1-2am onwards. Feeding is going okay. I've been using a nipple shield mainly, cause my silly big boobies and flat nipples make it hard for Oliver to latch on. But once he's on he's a wonderful feeder - he's a great little sucker! I can't really follow the 3-4 hourly feeds. Sometimes he just desperately needs another feed after 2-2.5 hours.
We have our first check up on Tuesday - I can't wait to see how much weight Oliver has put on, and how much he's grown!

I hope everyone is doing well, and I hope we have some more new mummies come to join us soon!

selina- your lucky with oliver! darren sleeps 4hrs at night - and only when in bed with me!
and its crazy how long it takes to go out with a baby in toe...and think...its only going to get harder LOL!

AFM: darren has gone mental. he's feeding every 2hrs today (mind you its 35deg!) DH has him right now, so i get some "me" time. which will promtly end after this post! haha. but he's been good. his wind has become good...since i put him back on the boob! which im stoked about. he's co-sleeping with me at the moment too becuase he wont settle on his own - and right now im not willing to leave him cry in his bassent eather. (i'm too much of a softy) we had one bad night where i was up till 4am tying to calm him with wind...i tired feeding and changeing but nothing worked, then just after 4am an almighty clap of bum thunder and he was fine - compleat with wind smile and all! i think darren is custer feeding or just thurisy because of the heat; so i shell have to wind up my post and go flop 'em out for him. its a little annoying how he falls alseep then off the boob, then wakes himself and crys, then i put the dummy in he sleep for an hour- hour and a half then starts all over agian! Ohh well...joys of being a mother ay?

Hello to all the fellow new mums!
I was in another belly buddies group but our beautiful new daughter Lauren decided to come a little early, so I'm new to this group. Lauren was born 10/2/09, can't believe she's nearly 2 weeks already, it has all gone by in a bit of a blur.
Sterla - I am so jealous Oliver has been sleeping for 5-6hs that is great, Lauren would never settle for that long, plus bcos she was so small 2650kg nurses have recommended not letting her for more than 4 hs between feeds anyway.
Sadly I had attachment & sleeping problems so wasn't able to continue b/f after we came home. It has been hard but I know for my own sanity & to lessen my anxiety I am better not to beat myself up about it. Is anyone else formula feeding their baby?
Thank goodness my DH has been able to get 6weeks off work, don't know how I would do it without him.
Sending you all positive thoughts to get through these first trying weeks.

    Welcome Yvettemj .

I'm well aware I've been very, very lucky with Oliver sleeping so well and so long. I'm really hoping it lasts, cause even with those good sleeps I still get so tired. I think it's just cause I'm so busy all the time while I'm awake.

Blip: Sometimes Oliver wants to feed every 2 hours as well. How does Darren feed? Oliver is great for the first five minutes, then he slows down and often falls asleep. I usually have to change his nappy or burp him a few times just to get him to finish his feed. Anyone elses bubs like this?

Laura- its shocking, we got it in out BB grp too. i feel so, so sad for tracy...my heart is going out to her!

yvettemj- good on you for doing whats best for you an your little Lauren. a relaxed mum = relaxed bub! i had darren on formular while in SCN (for the first two ish days with what little colostorum i could hang express..) so be proud of your self for giving Lauren the best start in life! and she must be lucky to have a relaxed mum for it too (i get flustered with feeds sometimes due to darren spilling half of it down me as i have to use a nipple sheild...)

Sterla - i hope she's ok...i wonder what happend... i hope her little one is watching over her and guideing her though this shocking time...

AFM: after the news in the BB grp my day seems alot less bad.
i feel stupid for being annoied at my MCHN for making we wake darren so she could check on his attachment as he lost 100g (he put on 120 in two days last week, but i blame myself for him loseing it because of this oral thrush i dont think i expressed enough and there for he lost the waight..) but if on friday when we see her, if she talks about maybe 'topping' darren up on formula ( no offecnce to you yvettemj, i can totaly understand your angle) i'll slap her. i have the milk supply...and i'm going to use it! plus dont most babies come home from hossy having lost waight? i figer Darren had 6 days in SCN then over night in peadeatrics. so he was rather...regumented...but that dosent seem as bad right now...but on the upside i think i've worked out how to settle darren in his bassent...i made a 'nest' and put him to sleep on his side - he likes it there! plus if he throws up in his sleep (which he can do at times..) he wont choke on it so im not as worried now!

Blip: No idea what happened. I'm in shock by the news. I can't believe it.
Are you using a nipple shield too? I am, which is good (Oliver can actually attach), but bad (he always knocks it off and I spill milk everywhere). Try not to worry about Darren - you're a fantastic mummy and will always do what's best - don't let the 'professionals' try and tell you otherwise.

Oliver had his first check-up today and he's doing really well. He has put on 245g on his birth weight, 185g of which he put on in the last week. He's also grown about 3cm in length. He's a very healthy, happy little baby . He did not like being weighed and measured though - he squawked the entire time! We've had such a good run with Oliver - we've been very lucky.

I hope all you new mummies are doing well.
