Sorry girls im doing a rather selfish post... again
We just got home from the hospital, Bella gave us quite a scare tonight.
She had 2 fits.. one after the other.
She was just laying on the floor kicking and moving as she usually does, then all off a sudden she looked at me her arms shot straight out beside her and she went stiff and started shaking, her eyes rolled into the back of her head, she stopped breathing and started to turn blueish.... it only lasted about 10 sec then she just came to and started screaming....
then about 30 sec later she did the exact same thing!!!!!
I have never been so scared in my life.
She is ok at the moment i just have to keep an eye on her.
-
OMG! Poor Bella and poor mummy! I hope she is ok now. Do they know why it happened? How scary.
-
Oh Laura, how unimaginably scary!!! Poor Bella and poor you!!!! Big, big . I hope she is okay.
-
:o Poor bella and poor muma 'bow! i hope your both ok :comfort:
-
Morning girls,
How is everyone?
Raver- OMG! That is soooo awful! You have definately had some scary moments these last couple of weeks... Is Bella OK and do you know what caused the fits? Poor Baby! Oh jeez you must have been terrified :(
Blip- We have tried avent and now NUK dummies, I really didnt want to use them at all but she is waking up and wanting to suckle on me so I hope I can find one she will take... I have no problem getting her to sleep with rocking but then as soon as you put her down she wakes up, Ive tried just holding her or patting her to sleep but she wants to suckle so Im not sure if blankies would work, but I should give it a go...
How is Oliver and Mummy??
Antheia- Spill the beans! we wont tell, promise ;)
Ah the turd is awake...

Hi ladies, quick update from Sammy and I. we are taking her to the Dr as she has been spewing after almost every feed for the last 5 days and has only put on 80gr in a week :( The LC wasn't worried but said if the vomitting increased ( which it did) to take her to the Dr just in case. So appointment at 12:15pm today, will let you know how we go.
-
That's no good Moose. I hope Sammy is okay .
Gee our group has some rotten luck! :(
-
Hey Girls,
Once again stoopid me didnt copy my reply and my lap top ate it
I really hope Sammy is ok!
Long story but Ive had a crappy night, I think Im drying up a bit... Ive had a couple of little cries, I feel AWFUL. Spoke to Mum (bless her) and she suggested maybe topping Winter up at night with formula... argh I feel so bad.

moose: how did the docs appt go? what did they say? could it be reflux? or just her taking more but her belly not being ready for it?
'bow: how are you? hows bella?
Jords: *hugs* i hope you find the strenth to keep going. if your in doubt maybe get incontact with an LC eather private or though the hospital? they'll help.
AFM: had MG today. was interesting. had a lady from the libary come and talk to us. appaintly i we read to our bubs three times aday they'll be uber smart. some little girl she knows at 18months can count to 20! i think i put her out when she was talking to that 24/yo (who tried to give her bubs 250mls of formular) about settling becuase the 24y/o was whingeing about how her hubby is always picking their son up and she lets him 'self settle'...at 5 weeks old! i'd had enough and said "babys are for cuddleing and loving. they need it more then we understand, untill last week darren was co-sleeoping with me. now he sleeps in his cot for one night sleep. i still get things done with a sling. and from what i've read this helps them with deleloping a better awearnss of self as well as better comunitcation skills as they're right there in the converation!" whoops, neather where happy i piped up! other then that it was good. tomorrow i see the LC about my supply. and talking to her about possably trying darren back on the boob, as i think the speech therpist did a fine job in scareing me about trying myself. if i cant then i want to nut out a plan that i can do on my own (as DH works 5 to 6 days a week for 8hrs...) and on friday i see the dietission (sp?) about daz so i know how much he needs (or i could just ignore that and follow his lead! haha) and i think i'm going to tell them about the pead. ward as its just wrong what they did.
I better go and express...daz should be up soon (he was up from 11am untill 5:45pm!)

Hi Ladies,
Sorry for not posting yesterday but I forgot I had MG and with Dh home, it was bed time before I knew it! Went to the Dr with Sam and its a new Dr we are seeing and she was awesome. She thoroughly inspected every bits and pieces of Sam and has found nothing wrong so far but she said to keep an eye on her andbring her back next week if she was still unwell but told me that if I felt I wanted to bring her in every day if I was in doubt to do so. It was good news to hear. Sammy was smiling at her and everything. So it appears that my instincts were right and its a little tummy bug. She seemed better yesterday and even better this morning. The spewing has slowed a LOT and she is back to sleeping her usual patterns ( thank god for that!) and has actually been sleeping from 7pm til 5am for the last 2 nights!! Hope the trend last. So the last thing we need to get sorted is her weight gain but am fairly confident that with less spew we will be back on track next week.
Other than that, MG was good, it was our last one with an EC nurse and we all shared what we found had been the most positive and the biggest challenge for each one of us. One mum broke down as her little bubba is very difficult to settle and she felt like a failure because of it and it was amazing the support everyone gave her. I think it has brought the whole group together to share a few "soul baring" moments. My biggest challenge I have been founding is getting back into the intimacy and romance with DH and we had a big chat about it last night. I realised that its almost like I forgot how to be romantic and I have a pretty negative image of my body at the moment. I think Dh kinda understands a bit more where I am coming from and I feel the better for it! Poor DH, we had a couple glasses of wine and he most likely thought he's get lucky, instead he ended up having me in tears! lol He has taken Sammy out for 2-3 hours as he is preparing a surprise for me and 'needed" Sammy for it..so I was told to relax and take it easy. I feel so lucky to have such a good hubby. Enough about me anyway!
Rainbow: OMG, I really hope little Bella is better and been thinking about you a lot. Hope you have some good news for us and that Bella is a healthy little vegemite
Antheia: I am dying to know but I think its great to have secrets sometimes....so will wait til you're ready to show/tell the world. Good luck with your project hun!
Jords: I'm so sorry you feel awful and totally understand why as I felt the same. It's hard to imagine that YOU as their only source of food is not producing enough and it just doesn't feel right but Before you start with formula, you should really see an LC. They are really nice and will support you in making the right decisions for Winter. At this time, our boobs start to settle and they may not appear to have a lot of milk. What my LC has me doing is feeding Sam as per usual and express right after I feed her 3 times a day ( alternate feeds) for 5-5-5-5 ( 5 on the right 5 on the left, then back to right for 5 and finish on left for 5) If you can't do that long or your boobs get sore, just do 5 and 5 and make sure that one of them is around dinner time. What I do is I express first thing in the morning as my boobs are full. then one at lunchtime and one around 5 ish. You may not get a lot or maybe none at all but it will help with nipple stimulation and produce more milk...but that was for me, just contact your EC centre and wishing you good luck...and remember you are doing a GREAT job and IF you have to resort to giving formula, it's ok too, don't beat yourself up about it. On a higher and happier note, yes...Mortimer, Glumpty Glumpty is indeed Marvin in our household and goes everywhere Sammy goes. She's also got the Lamaze snake as well and like them a lot.
Sterla: How is the gorgeous Oli and mummy doing? Have you gone back to your pram walking yet? Hows the packing of your house going...you must be getting so excited but packing with a 3 month old bubba in the house just can't be that easy! Make sure you get help :)
Blip: You just love to stir the pot at MG don't you? LOL Just keep in mind that sometimes you may hurt that mum's feelings though, everyone has got their own way and make their own choices on how to raise their babies even though you may not agree on the method, she will want to share her experience with the group. I'm sure you'll agree that our feelings and emotional state, especially as new mums, are quite fragile and just make sure it doesn't come as a criticism as opposed to a discussion. I am not saying this to lecture you, as I truly admire how you stand up for what you believe in and how you seem to have researched your decisions, but just to maybe let you know of how it may be received on her end. Hope I haven't overstepped my boundaries by saying this. What did the speech therapist say? I am not sure I got what you meant re: him scaring you...Did I miss a post maybe? Am also really curious to see what the nutritionist has to say..how could they know what the bubs need? Let us know how you go.
Question for all...do all your bubs wear jammies to bed?? Sam's been only wearing singlet and nappy but as the weather is getting cooler, am thinking about putting her in jammies, but not sure of what to dress her in so she doesn't overheat but isn't cold either...suggestions?!?!
Have a good day everyone :)
Mxx

WOW sorry for the long post!
-
Moose, i dress Orson in a long sleeve/legs suit with a singlet underneath and sometimes socks if its really cold. Usually a bonds wonder suit and then i wrap him. Because theyre still so young its best to keep them snuggley instead of getting cold because they still have troble keeping their temp under control.

Morning Girls,
This will probably be breif as Im one handed but we'll see how i go!
Blip- Can I ask how you made the transfer from co-sleeping tp the cot? How did you go with the LC? Good I hope!
Raver- Good to see you back, hope little Bella is ok
Sterla-Hello ;)
Moose- Im so glad to hear you found a good Dr- it makes all the difference. Especially when your unsure about something its great to hear it when they say they dont care if you visit everyday... Im happy to hear Sammy is better today and sleeping good(did I say good? I meant unbelievably brilliantly!)
Its great you have an understanding DH- and communicating makes all the difference I reckon... I think it must be hard for them sometimes when they dont know whats going on in our heads,so its always good to let them know... as for body image what can I say except I reckon we all know how you feel! I told DP that I didnt want him to see me shower after Winter was born I was so self concious. The good thing to know is that they will love you no matter how you look(still though!) bah is any of this making sense? Im thinking so much but its hard to get it out, especially with one hand!
I cant wait to hear what your suprise is! What a lucky Mummy!
As for jammies... this might sound weird but I dont have 'pj's' as such, just put her to bed in what she is wearing... so generally a long legged/armed bonds easy suit(so not easy to change nappy at 3 am!!) or any other long jump suit... in summer it was just a singlet(gets hot up here)(brisbane).
Antheia-Hope your well :)
As for us.... Poor darlin' Winter has a cold! Argh! I dont know here it has come from whether it was still in her system from when we were sick the other week? She was very stuffy all night and sneezed before and the BIGGEST chunk of snot came out,it was awful. Better out than in though I guess! We gave her a bit of baby panadol(DP was home for lunch) and now she is completely zonked out in my arms...
Which brings me to the next chapter- the cot. Last night was the first night she was going into the cot,ha! It took 4(maybe 5?) goes to get her to stay asleep in it after putting her down, then finally jackpot! Sleeping!! Half an hour later she was awake(by this stage it was around midnight) so I figured Id feed her in bed. "oh good morning Winter" Yes, Mummy fell asleep. Woops :) We ended up having an amazing sleep-in till 11.15! sheesh. Now she's sick all I want to do is cuddle her(excuses excuses)
As for drying up I posted a thread and got a bunch of great advice so I didnt get formula and I feel so much better! I dont know if I was just being paranoid?
Hope everone is having a good day :)
