Blip: Wow, Darren must be really long! What a good growing boy! :) I know what you mean about different stores and brands having different sizing. Oliver isn't quite into 00s, but it won't be too much longer. His Bonds Wondersuits leave almost no room for him to move his legs. It always seems to be length they outgrow, doesn't it?
I'm glad you talked to your DH about how you're feeling - I hope it helped.
Antheia: Oh you poor thing! I wonder what was going on? Maybe like blip said he's having a growth spurt? Is he over his cold yet? If not, maybe he just wasn't feeling well and wanted hugs from his mummy? I hope you both managed to get some sleep.
Jords: They do grow so fast, don't they! Oliver is really starting to get heavy to hold - rocking him to sleep is turning in to a real work out!
AFM: Well, I was having a fantastic day until my child health clinic check-up. Oliver was all happy and smiley. I gave him a bath, which he loved... and because he was having a good day, I was having a good day. Then the child health nurse managed to crush my spirit and make me feel like I'm a bad mother. Now, as a warning - let me tell you that I do not have a thick skin at all - I have thin, thin skin and get upset by things when I probably shouldn't... so this is probably a complete over-reaction.
The child health nurse was a different one to the ones we've been seeing. I guess outwardly she was nice, but what upset me was more the way she said things and the way she looked at me.
We went in, and she asked feeding was going. I said good, but mentioned that I'm still using nipple shields and wondered whether it was worth seeing a LC to try and get rid of them. She said it was and gave me a phone number... fine.
We weighed and measured Oliver which was all fine too.
Then she started asking me (or should I say grilling) on my parenting... "Have you been giving him tummy time?" "Have you been reading to him?" "Have you been putting him down awake to sleep?" I answered each, but each of my answers didn't seem to be good enough. Yes, I do give him tummy time - but not enough it seems according to her. Yes, I do read to him, but apparently I should be reading to him 3-4 times a day! Yes, I do put him down to sleep awake - not wide awake, he's usually sleepy, and he does go back to sleep himself if he wakes up during the night and isn't hungry... but that wasn't a good enough answer either. She didn't come right out and say she thought I was incompetent, but it was certainly implied.
Then, after Oliver was dressed he started getting upset so I started bouncing him the way he likes. I do it all the time and it really helps him calm down. By no means is it anything too rough or that I would class as 'shaking', but the child health nurse looked at me and said "Don't do that, pat him on the back instead'. So I did, but even the way I patted him on the back wasn't good enough. She told me to pat him quicker and softer... so nothing I do is right apparently! I haven't sat at home doing parenting research - I've been feeling my way through motherhood and working out what is right for us. I thought I was doing okay, but she made me completely question everything. Am I a good mother? I don't know anymore. I left feeling completely deflated :(.
Oh, and it's so annoying that she upset me like this too, because in amongst all this Oliver had a really good check-up which I'd like to be happy about. He's gained 480g and grown 2cm in two weeks, so he's now 5.6kg and 60cm long.
I'm sorry about all this petty complaining, especially when this really is nothing compared to what you've been through Blip. I just really needed to vent.
-
Sterla hun, the fact that Oliver had a good check up means you are a great mother! Forget that so and so MCHN. You are doing a wonderful job parenting Oliver.
Can i just say, reading 3-4 times a day? WTF? I don't read to Orson at all just yet. I have 2 other children to entertain. I know Oliver is your only right now but geez, that woman needs to get a grip! He's 2mths old FFS. A nice bed time story is good but othe than that he doesnt need it. Sounds liek she wants you to turn Oliver into some super kid that knows everything by the time he is 1! Off my soap box now, haha!
He doesnt need that much tummy time either. Give him a little bit after each nappy change for a minute or two is enough for now.
And i bounce Orson up and down on my knee too. Nothing wrong with it at all.
 Hope things go well with the LC.
-
Anthiea- hows Orson doing today? i hope you got some sleep!
Jords - im slowly stopping the Co-sleeping becuase i feel darren is 'fatterning up' and can keep warm. but once he's big enough DH has said that he can sleep in our bed after his first feed on saterday/sunday mornings! its a strange feeling not having daz in bed with me though
sterla honey - that women needs a melly bashing. full stop. i've been though alot, but one thing i can and will stand ferm on - DO WHAT YOU KNOW WORKS AND FEELS RIGHT. that women has seen him ONCE and seen you ONCE she knows NOTHING! ok? you're not over reacting i think thats a normal reaction (and over reaction is telling her to bugger off as i've said to a few nurses already!) your working out how to be a mother and what may 'clinicly' work for this MCHN may not work for you at all! as for tummy time some babies HATE it, what'd say to them? 'let them scream' i think bloody well not (can you tell i've got a bee in my bonett? :hide: lol) you are doing the best for you and your son. as a mother, a women a human being. you know your son the best (hello you spent nine months growing him!) dont let her bring you down becuase what you're doing is far from wrong or not good enough. your son is growing and is happy- thats what counts! trust me. you're doing good if Oli can be put down semi awake - i still cant do that with daz. but hey, each babys differant! dont doubt your self you're doing really good..forget what she said and let karma bite her bum. :comfort: just rember "mummie knows best"
AFM: daz has been a acheeky little man today. didnt sleep from 9am untill 2pm! (with two feeds in there lol) but is now alseep...he woke up when his dummy popped out of his mouth but thats all! woo. now i need to go and finish the dishes! hope every one is having a good day!
-
Argh what a biarch of a nurse!!! I hope your feeling better soon Sterla. Your definately doing things right 5.6kg and 60cm?? Woohoo!
How frustrating though! Bah! Sheesh I would have failed her test....tummy time everyday? ummm:redface: put down to sleep? eeeep, does feeding to sleep count? Reading? aaahhh, once :)
Dont stress hun, your doing a great job!
-
Thanks girls - you've helped :).
Now, off to the supermarket... hopefully that will help clear my head and lift my mood.
-
'ello ladies, how are we?
I had my pap done and it wasnt too bad, just annoying! but my GP made me want to cry becuase i asked for motilium and he looked it up and said no because its not what its for! then told me "just drink more water" i almost cried! i'm having a down day as it is. so i just called the LC from the hospital and im waiting for them to call back. but GAH. drink more water. how the hell is is possable for me to drink more then 1.25lt between feeds? i duno...i hope the LC calls back soon!
hope every one is having a good day!
-
Bloody hell, what is it with our group and stupid doctors and nurses??? That sucks Blip. Is there anyway you could see a different doctor?
-
i could but i get the feeling the ones at rhe GP clinic i see would look it up and i'd get the same responce. its the last thing i needed that for sure
-
 I wish I could say or do something to make you feel better. Maybe a completely different practice? Sometimes dodgy doctors who dont delve deep enough can be helpful (like when you need a certificate for a sickie). Hopefully it works out soon. Jeez you must be drinking heaps of water btw!
-
Firstly I just want to say thank you again for being so great yesterday. I feel so much better today. It's so nice to know I have you girls here for support!
 Blip: Sorry you had to put up with that cruddy doctor! You're already doing everything you can other than this motilium to keep your supply up - why should the doctor stop you from trying one more thing? It sucks, especially when you're already having a down day . I hope you have more luck with the LC.
I know Jords - we don't seem to have much luck with 'professionals' around here.
Though, I actually had some luck this morning. The LC I called after my bad visit to the MCHN (grrr) called back this morning, and we talked over the phone. I explained to her the situation with the nipple shields and how the MCHN said I should stop using them. The LC was so nice - telling me that Oliver sounds like such a happy, healthy baby, and that we'll give weaning Oliver off the nipple shields a go, but if it doesn't, that's okay too. She just made me feel like I was doing a good job - the complete opposite to that silly MCHN.
Oliver is keeping up his great sleeps. He slept 9 hours through the night! :o
-
Jords - thats the thing. this GP would write me a sickie note up hes done it for me in the past. he just *had* to look it up! as for the water - yeah i am drinking alot. i bought a whole lot of 'vita fresh' which is like cordial but no colour to make it worth drinking it!
Jords & sterla - :hugs: thank-you. i just hit the proverbal wall.
sterla - im glad the LC made you feel better! they're good at doing that. as for the nipple sheald. do what works and just think of it this way "its a detachable nipple" thats how i thought of it. or mini madona boob cones! ;)
AFM: i got a call back from the LC clinic at the hospital. im seeing one i saw before daz got admited to hospital again next thursday. she'll be able to help me out. she even said that there where drugs to help with supply. but as of right now im drinking 1.25lt of water between feeds (or near enough to) taking 2 tablets of furngeek two to three times a day PLUS sustgin in the morning! and attempting to eat more...im not sure what else i can do! hopefully next week i'll have some help!
thank you ladies, i dont know what i'd do with out you all! :hugs:
-
Blip, go to a female GP they may be more helpful, Hope you have more luck with the LC.
Sterla, glad the LC made you feel better and can help you. for you too.
-
Morning Ladies!
Im glad things are better Sterla, it sucks that it can only take one person to make you feel inadequate sometimes. Thank goodness most midwives are great! Glad the LC was nicer. Stoopid nurse :) Im so stoked for you and Oliver with his 9 hour sleep!!! Is he in a bassinet or in his own room? I dream of 9 hrs sleep!
Blip- Hang in there, your doing a damn fine job by the sounds of it. Fingers crossed for your appt next week. Hope little Darren is good*
How are you and Orson Antheia? He's giving you a bit more rest hopefully.
Where is the rest of our group?? Maybe I'm too addicted :)
So we had a shocker of a night last night...dont think we were asleep before 11.. and I went to bed at 9. We are getting over our colds pretty quickly but Winter has been a bit stuffy poor Bub.
Good news, the radiator in our car is buggered, DP only just made it to work this morning, bah! :( Apart from that there isnt much else going on, OH I gave milk guns a go in the shower last night heehee I got about 10cm! Then insisted on calling DP in to see, he wasn't impressed. heheh
-
Hey Jords! Yeah, our group can get a bit quiet at times. I'm a bit BB obsessed - I'm pretty sure I'm log on every day, and usually much more than once a day!
Oliver had another great sleep last night 8.5 hours! He sleeps in his bassinet in our bedroom next to my side of the bed. He sleeps really well in the bassinet, but we're going to have to start getting him used to his cot, cause he's almost outgrown the bassinet!
Lol about milk guns!
I'm heading out this afternoon with a pramwalking group. Should be interesting, and hopefully a good way of meeting some new mums.
Hope everyone is doing well :).
-
How truly addictive is BB?! Last week or the week before when it was down for the day I went hunting for other baby sights for forums to get my kick but they were sooo crap! DP was saying last night he thinks ive joined a cult lol. Its so good though to just have other Mums to chat to, I dearly love all my friends IRL but all of them workk full time and only one of them has a Bub and she works too!
Pramwalking sounds sweet, how did you find that? I hate our pram, cos Winter is always in the sling we have only used it twice but it was given to us and the wheels are worn, I want to buy a new one but DP thinks its a waste of money because we hardly use it.... Im gonna fight him on that one I think, esp as she is way too fat for the sling these days :)
Go Oliver! What a little champion! Hopefully the transition to cot goes smooth :)

Man...I had not been getting emails and just realised how much I have missed on!!!
I'll give a quick update on me first and then do personals..I also had a "great" experience with the EC nurse...NOT when we went to Sammy's 9 week check last Thursday. First it appears Sam had not been putting on a lot of weight over the last 2 weeks ( only 200g) but she is still very happy and was settling well and sleeping through the night like she has been for ages. She had dropped on the percentile chart as well. I then had a look only to discover that the chart she was looking at was the boys chart not the girls which made a huge difference in the percentile drop...Anyway, I asked if the fact she had her shots had anything to do with it as she was kinda off for a few days and wasn't feeding as well. She said flat out..NO. its got nothing to do with it. Why couldn't it be...we don't eat as much when we are sick, so why shouldn't baby be like that as well??? She then told me of babies "hibernating" to conserve their energies and thats why the sometimes sleep a lot. I got drilled on the same questions re tummy time etc but we seemed to have passed the test. She went back through my notes and asked me why I had stopped expressing after each feed as she had recommended when we had our very first visit with her ( home visit) I said that we had monitored her weight gains over the next 2 weeks and that she was gaining fine ( she had actually made a mistake originally and added the figures wrong, Sam's weight gain was actually 160 and not 80 like she told me) So she said, to start expressing again every alternate feed or every feed I can. I walked out of there a bit shattered and was soo worried that she wasn't getting enough food. DH kept saying, don't take it personal and kept saying to me that I am not a failure for not having enough milk and not stress about it, but the men just don't understand how it feels to be told that your baby is not getting enough when you are the only food source for them. We went and got her checked yesterday and she had put on 130g in 5 days which means she is on the road to recovery. YAY!!!!!!!!! The LC I saw yesterday basically told me that Sammy is doing fine and seems like a happy child (which she is) and that she is just probably plateau'ing a bit and her gain although slow is still a gain and that she was very happy with the way things were going. It was such a relief... I know that they have to tell us these things but you would think they would be a bit more subltle and nice about it, especially for 1st time mums!
MG is going great and the "dr's visit is being postponed to today, the nurse actually gave us a nice trick which has worked GREAT on Sammy for tummy time as she hated it and got very frustrated quickly, roll a small towel (like a bath mat) and pout it under her chest with her arms over it, it give them additional support and tummy time is now fun time for Sammy and last 3 times as what it used to last. Also put something of interest , like a favorite toy or something colourfulk for them to look at. WE have our 3rd meeting today again this arvo and its nice to get tips from other mums and see that we are all in the same boat. OK enough for me!!
BUMMER! Sammy just woke up, will do personals later this arvo, glad to see everyone is busy posting!!

Hiya ladies back again for personals as promised!
Sterla: Don't you go feeling like a bad mum, you are a GREAT mum and Oliver seems to be thriving baby. as you can see by my post above, some nurses bedside manners just aren't that crash hot. I do a lot of pram walking myself everyday but not joined a group, that sounds awesome! Might look that up to see if anyone does it in the area. Was there any cool mums??
Blip: Good to see Daz is going good still! YAY! Hope you got the meds situation sorted out for you and the BF keeps going strong. When are you due for your show and tell at school with Daz?
Rainbow: So sorry to hear about your cousin's dad, hope the funeral went as ok as it could under the circumstances and OMG, I could not believe this GPO that tells you Bella had Spina Bifide, WTF! You'd think he couls have said, listen..its better to get it checked out as I am not sure whether all the spine bits are in the right places instead of freaking you out like this. Hope this week is a bit brighter for you
Jords: I am also on my learners! Its slow coming mind you but we're getting there!
Definately get on your hubby's case to get a decent pram, it makes the world of difference and its such a good feeling to get out everyday ( weather pending) to go out for a walk, it's good for the bub as they are getting fresh air and its good for you cause you get out of the house :)
Mkart: Welcome to you and Anastesia!!
Ok thats it for now, hope everyone is well and will post very soon :)

evening ladies!
Anthiea - i'm seeing an LC at the hospital and i sure she'd know some one at the hospital who could get the procription for it. or maybe even one that can be used long term (im not sure motilim can be, can it?)
Jords- Thank-you. daz did good at his check up! at the milk guns. how much fun is it?
Sterla- a walking group ay? that'd be fun! im in your boat (again LOL) with the moving into a cot. mind you we still have to pick up daz's AND work out where the hell it'll go! but we need to do it soon, daz strechs his arms out and his little hands poke out each side! haha
Moose- woo your still around! bugger about the MCHN! yes bubs can sleep more if they're not eating enough but it may also be they're about to have a growth spert! if she's happy and alert dont worry about it that much! babies do what they want when they want! I'm glad sammys found a way to be on her tummy. a bub at my MG today had a pillow for it and we did baby massarge and he little thing fell asleep! it was so cute!
AFM: daz and i had Mothers Grp today. it was alright. there are alot of ways of being a mum! like two mums said that they dont pick there bubs up if they're crying unless they need them to! (insert :wall: ) and when i piped up that i found the best thing for darren was to be held untill he fell alseep and to be near him to comfort him as it helps him later in life with comforting himself i got looks that would make you explode from them! mind you one of the girls (and i dont mean to bad mouth her but...this'll make you go :jawdrop:! ) she said her bub had reflux (he was born on the 3rd of march) and he was always throwing up alot. she then said he was taking 250mls. yes 250mls i have never felt so shocked! i give daz a max of 200ml but he only takes about 180ml. (and brings up about 10-15ml at a guess) im still a little bit :o about it really. but we did have fun doing baby massarge one bub hates being on his tummy so his mum puts a little pillow under him and she was massargeing his back and he fell alseep one of the other mums got a photo of it...he looked so cute! after MG i had a MCHN appt. daz is now 5.134kg and 56cm long aaaaaaannd his head cect is 40.4! finely his sunnies stay on his head (check out my FB for photos!) we also manged to go down the street and buy stuff for tea ( i walked to MG/ MCHN) and got home with out too much of a fuss. mind you daz wanted to be in the sling on the way home which worked out so i could use the pram as a take- home trolly LOL. got the krud money today to. so did my part to stimulate the ecconmy and bought some more hair dye. as im already sick of the brown so im going back to red! lol. hopefully next week i'll get my hair cut...i need a change!
Hrm. i better *think* about bed
g'night ladies hope you're all 'aving a good night/morning!
-
Good morning ladies :).
Antheia: You must be so, so tired! (noticed on FB) I hope you manage to catch up on your sleep. Everything feels ten times harder when you're sleep deprived.
Jords: My pramwalking group went well. There was only 3 other mums, but it was alright. They were friendly enough, but I wouldn't say I hit it off with any of them either. Oliver was by far the youngest bub there - there was also a 7 month old boy, a 2 year old girl, and 3 and 5 year old brothers. We walked along a nice path that leads to the Gorge (local attraction). There was some play equipment that the older kids played on. I held Oliver for a while and he fell asleep. Other than that, Oliver was wide awake the whole time looking around at everything!
A decent pram is well worth the money. I have a second hand Valco Baby 3 wheeler pram, and it's so good. Easy to move and fold down, and Oliver loves it.
Moose: So nice to hear from you! Sorry you had a bad experience with a MCHN too. Our group seems to have such rough luck with doctors and nurses. I'm glad the LC was so much nicer! I'm more than sure that Sammy is happy and healthy - if you think she is, then I'm sure she is - you know best :).
Glad your MG is going well. That's a good idea for tummy time - I might give that a go with Oliver. I finally called up about joining a MG, but it doesn't start until July 6! I bet Oliver will be the oldest baby there, cause he'll almost be 5 months by then!
Blip: It's probably good to be exposed to all those mums with their different ways of being a mum - makes us realise that there is no 'right' or 'wrong' way - just your way!
I'm so glad Darren is going so well! :D What a good growing boy!
AFM: Oliver was pretty cranky last night. Every Wednesday my parents and us take turns going to each others houses to watch Spicks and Specks. Last night it was our turn to go to my parents, and Oliver was not happy the entire time! My mum and dad really wanted a hold, but Oliver did not want to be held by anyone else! We ended up leaving earlier than usual, and then Oliver was all nice and happy and calm once we got home. I'm wondering if the big walk yesterday might have worn him out, cause he was so wide awake and taking everything in the whole time.
Oh, and I'm still a bit lacking in mummy confidence... this time over my milk supply. It's cause that stupid MCHN basically told me my milk supply would drop with me using nipple shields. As you all know, it's all been fine so far as Oliver has been gaining really well... but she still got in my head, and now I'm obsessing over whether Oliver is getting enough milk. All signs point to him getting enough, but I'm still worrying about it all the time... (sigh)
-
moring ladies!
Sterla- useing a nipple sheald whilest decreseing the stimulation of the nipple doesnt always = low supply. just means Oli has to work a little harder! if he's gaing, feeding 'normaly' then its all good! and if you express and get 50ml and thats it ignore it becuase expressing isnt a true indiacter of supply (i can say that because i've head SOO meany people say it to bf'ing mums! but for me its all i got LOL!) MCHN have a habbit of freaking us out. when that happens i pull out the MCHN melly and give 'em a bashing ;)
Ooo better go Daz is on the up wake!
-
Hello ladies,
First, I forgot to say hi to Antheia in my post yesterday, hope Orson is feeling better and that you are getting more sleep.
Sterla: Good on you for calling up about the MG, it doesn't matter if Oli is a bit older, it6 will still be cool, you'll be the "pro" :)...don't they have a group at all before that? Is it because you're in Tassie and there are not as many babies/mums? I'm glad the pram group went well, go again, sometimes it takes a couple go before you really click with people. Re: your milk supply... STOP STRESSING! I know its hard but seriously love, Oli is gaining so well and he is obviously a happy little vegimite otherwise you would know if he was starving. Don't you just hate that when they get stuff like that in your head. If you are really worried about your supply, just ask yourself...1) Am I getting plenty of wet nappies? 2) Is Oli settling/sleeping well? 3) Is OLi happy and giving you lots of smiles? 4) Is he gaining weight at a reasonable level? If you answered yes to these questions, Oli is getting plenty of milk and stop worrying about it. BTW, We love Spick and Specks at our house too!!
Blip: I know it sometimes seems hard to understand why certain parents make some choices but I think Sterla has got it summed up when she says : it "makes us realise that there is no 'right' or 'wrong' way - just your way!" Whatever works for you and your bub as long as we have a happy healthy baby & family :)
AFM: Sammy has been going to sleep at 6:45pm the last 2 nights and sleeping til 3:45am! It;s been so awesome, we have been trying the self settling techniques given to us by the EC nurse and they are starting to pay off. We've also been following the same routine nightly and that has also paid off. I must say it is nice to have our evening to ourselves again, if only for a while until it all changes again! lol She started rolling on her sides earlier this week and she loves it! I went to check on her one night and found her asleep on her side! I was shocked, she sleeps exactly like I sleep with her fists up by her chin...was really cute and now she is rolling on her mat on the floor and she cracks herself up doing it. She started being a little chucky today..not sure whats up she normally doesn't vomit and she has after each feed today, only a little but is a bit unusual, hope she is not coming down with anything.
Anyway, got to get some housework done..there is an inch of dust in our place!Lots of cuddles to all you mums and bubs!
Mxx

 I know, I know... must stop stressing and obsessing.
Moose: That's awesome with Sammy's big sleeps! Oliver has big sleeps too, though his are more from 11pm-7.30am, which suits me, as that's about the time I like to sleep anyway. How cute that Sammy is rolling a bit, and sleeps just like her mummy!
Don't worry about Sammy being a bit chucky. Oliver goes through stages where he might a few times in one day, then other times where he won't at all for days. Maybe she's just getting more milk than her little tummy can hold?
AFM: Oliver is sleeping so much today - well, more than he usually does. Oh, and I gave him a rattle before, and he was holding onto it and shaking it (and then bringing it to his mouth to suck on!) - made his mama so proud! :D
-
Good day Ladies!
Only a short one to say hi, I shall be back tommorrow. I was trying to be disciplined(sp?) today and stop myself from logging on so I could get some housework done, clearly I couldnt help myself from having a little peek
Good to see you back Moose :)
Smiles*
-
Haha Jords! Its good to be back and chattin' away. Now you get back and start cleaning :)
-
Bahaha! cant...drag...self...away...:)
-
-
God i know how you feel. I have joined BB almost 5 years ago now and im still addicted and have to go on every single day i can!
-
morning ladies!
:yeahthat: i agree BB is addicive!
sterla & moose: OMG lucky. daz has his last feed at 12:30-1am and is up agian by 4:30-5! but sleeps agian unill 7:30/8! as for there is no right way or wrong i felt horrable FOR the bub! i know its not my way but hearing "i dont pick him up untill i see tears" made me want to  ! ... maybe A/F is on her way back? maybe thats why im so emotional! haha...(scary thing is i'd be due now if i hadn't have gotten UTD lol)
AFM: yesterday i went to my old work in a shopping center about 20mins from my place and spent from 12noon untill 4:30pm there...on my own with daz! i had intended to leave around 2 but daz was sound alseep and i thought i'd use the K-dud bonus and "STIMULATE THIS ECCONMY" which ended in daz getting 2 new pairs of pants two shirts, a singlet and a rattle...Ohh and some sun blocker outters for the car. had a bit of an :o moment mind you a girl i worked with is getting married next month! because chinese traditoin says get married ASAP! but it was also a :o moment becuase she lost her mum last month :( which was sad. but she seems ok. she told he she's thinkin of kids and asked me to discribe the pain of labour; which im still at a loss to explain!
Any whoo i better go and eat something before daz wakes up!
hope every one is having a lovely day!
-
I too and so, so addicted to BB! I must log on everyday!
Blip: Daz's sleep pattern sounds good - kind of like what Oliver was doing in the early days. I bet he's on the way to sleeping through! That does sound pretty harsh to me too - not picking a bub up till there's tears :(.
Go D with stimulating the economy! We've yet to receive our K-Rudd money - but ours will most likely be spent on paint or carpet for our house.
AFM: Well, I put Oliver down for a nap in his cot (instead of his bassinet which he's used full time since birth), and he's fast asleep! He's been sleeping for 20 minutes so far, and doesn't look like waking any time soon! I'm so glad he's having a good sleep in it, cause he's really not going to fit in his bassinet much longer.
Oh, and he's getting so good with his tummy time! He can lift his head up pretty high, and for longer and longer each time. I gave him a rattle yesterday, which he held onto and was shaking around heaps (before sucking on it of course) - and me, being a big mama sook started getting all teary at how proud I was of him! :D
I'm off to the docs this afternoon for my pap - fun...
Hope everyone is well.

Hey Girls :)
Oh my goodness, Winter has been relentless today... skipped her normal morning sleep, has napped for like 20 mins, finally have her down now, so fingers crossed I can get this post finished because I have a bunch of stuff I want to say, and I always find I forget to say a bunch of things I was meaning to, every single time I post.
Jeez where to start?!
Sterla- I tried to add you to my msn through your little icon but it didnt work, so maybe if you send me a message on msn and i can add you that way?? Try not to stress about your milk... stoopid nurse! why would sheilds make a difference? just from the stimulation? would massaging your boob while feeding make a difference? as you can tell im a pro on these issues :)
Well done with the cot transfer!
Blip- That little baby at your MG must be like a goldfish-just eat and eat till sick. 250ml is huge, poor bub. Not sure who it is on BB but there quote is something like "someone is always someone elses weirdo" so true...
jeez im so scattered today another hard night I cant even think of what im doing atm...
Moose- Are you close to getting your P's? Im finding it quite hard as the only person around to give me lessons is DP but we have noone to leave Winter with and there is NO WAY i want to drive with her in the car... So Ive just been paying for lessons, but at $50 a pop I dont want to get more than one a week, so its a long process...
Ok warning too much info coming up.... DP and I DTD 2 nights ago and... it was good! I was still nervous but after a while got into it and
OH CRAP! Winter just woke up!!!! DAMMIT lol Ill be back in a bit ARRRRGH LOL
-
OK I'm back, who knows how long the peace will last so here we go...
With DTD Im glad we got it over and done with(how romantic)Im still not in a big rush to do it again though... not that it wasnt good, it was nice to be close to DP but I think its just being so busy with Winter, as bad as it sounds it feels like.. oh i really dont know how to explain, so maybe ill stop dribbling :P
So I was sitting with DP at the table last night and I said to him that I had something to tell him... it went something like this... "Dad Ive been thinking and Ive spoken to my baby buddies and they all agree with me - We are buying a new pram. Sorry you cant change my mind, ive even been looking on ebay." "Ok well I guess i cant say anything" "No, you cant. I love you" heheheh :)
Hope everyone is having a great friday and has a great weekend :)
Oh one last thing for now... DP now calls BB my "cult" cos ive become addicted so quick. I love it though, and chatting to you girls has really saved my sanity in these last couple of weeks. I was feeling so isolated at one point. Thank you all!:grouphug:

Jords: LOL thats the way girl!!! I have a mountain buggy swift and although expensive, is AWESOME, its light and can fit through anything, supermarket aisle and still sporty enough to have a bit of rough terrain.
As to getting close to my P's well...its on its way, I was doing really well before Xmas, took some prefessional lessons as DH and I were heading butts a lot but went from having a small Toyota Starlet to a Nissan Xtrail, so am a bit scared to drive around in the big one, on top of all the arguments it seems to cause between DH and I, but we will get there!! I think I know what you mean with DTD...I think I just see myself as a mum and not so much "a Lover" as such and that needs to change as DTD is part of a healthy marriage but I think its almost like an identity crisis where we are redefining who we are and that takes time too. Glad we can be there for your sanity, even if we are a cult :)
Sterla: thats good that Oli is now sleeping in his cot part time, it will make easier to transition him as opposed to changing it big bang, *I might do that for Sammy and her snuggle bed as she is almost too tall for it now. Thats so cool about the rattle, Sammy doesn't seem that interested in rattles, she likes animals, in books and talks to her stuffed friends all the time, especially a moose we named Marvin, its hilarious to watch her with him. Enjoy the pap, its alwys SO nice, isn't it?
Blip: Thats was a cool way to spend your stimulus, we are still waiting for ours but will go towards investments and getting a new sound system as well as paying for the Chrtistening party on the 12th of July. Thats sad about your friend that lost her mum right before she is getting married, I know I missed my parents when they couldn't see me walking down the aisle, its funny how some other cultures have got different traditions, I just hope she is happy. I also think that one can never truly explain the journey of giving birth to your child, its one of those moments where "you just had to be there!" Sounds like it was a good arvo. As for the sleep, well Sammy woke up at 12:30 and then again at 5am, not sure if that's got something to do with the spewing, she just seems a bit off. I'm sure it will all sorte itself out but I feel myself so blessed that I have a child that sleeps so well, I just hope it lasts!
AFM: I had THE WEIRDEST morning walk ever. DH is not working til tonight so I asked him to come on my work out walk with me and Sam. We normally have our standard route but forthe last couple weeks, I;ve been meaning to start walking up this giant hill to pump up the work out a biut but been delaying it and I had a wicked neck and back pain last week so have not really been walking. Dh convinced to go up it today and he got up to the top before I did and started chatting with this lady, who turned out to be a psychic. She basically gave us a reading on the spot. Today is my mom's birthday and she passed 2 years ago on my birthday of all things. The first thing she asked was Sammy's birthday, which we gave her and she said she was feeling someone with curly brown hair, very skinny and pretty tall that is with her all the time. That is pretty much my mom to a 'T" ( note I am short and chubby, not tall and skinny) she proceeded to tell us that Sam is a Rainbow Child ( look it up on the net its interesting) and has an orange Aura which will lead her onto the golden path. She said Sammy was a very special child who will be a leader and will aim to serve people ( not being a servant but serve to make it a better place) She will be impatient as a child as she is very smart and will have a hard time understanding why others don't "get it" right away and will want to move along. She went on like this for a good half an hour and talked about my dad that has also passed and said that DH used to be a roman centurion in the past life. So, needlessto say , it was a FULL ON experience, I had a few tears and was left somewhat stunned by this whole ordeal. She also said my mom would flicker a light in the next couple days to let know she is there and that this lady is for real. Can't wait to see whether this will happen or not.
Anyway, Bean is up, just thought I would share my weird morning with you ladies...Sammy is still chucking after almost every feed, I just feel her not being too well..call it mother;s instinct
Mxx

Far out Moose, that is so random! Everything happens for a reason I believe... of all days.. so weird, but great!!
The moose you got for Sammy isn't a lamaze toy by any chance? Winter has her moose aka Mr Moose aka Gloompty Gloompty aka Mortimer That she loves as well! It was the first thing she reached out to touch.
As for the pram... you know that woman who crashes into everything? Thats me... ran over a womans foot on the train the other week(stupid git saw me coming and didnt move) lol jeez...
Hope little Sammy gets better!
Oh and what was said about not picking up babies till they see tears??!!?! ARGH! I told MIL we were moving Winter to the cot next week and she said "oh she'll cry, but its good for her to cry it doesnt hurt them"
-
Moose: Far out - what an amazing thing to happen! Whether or not you believe in all that, to be told all that nice stuff about your baby is great :)!
I hope Sammy isn't sick or anything :crossfingers:
Jords: The DTD thing is hard to get your head around. My DH and I have once and it wasn't pleasant, but I'm thinking we might need to try again soon before I get scared off! I'm so glad my DH isn't bugging me about it. I read another girls post today, and her DF is already getting it 2-3 times a week and wants more (and she only had her baby at the end of Feb!! :o).
AFM: Well, back from my pap... fun...
I left Oliver with DH at his work while I went to the docs (he has a very friendly work place!), which was good to give DH a go looking after Oliver solo. He hasn't much cause I'm always around. It went well, though Oliver was just starting to get upset when I came to pick him up. I hoped we'd make it home without him cracking it, but no luck there... and with the crazy Friday afternoon traffic I knew it would take awhile to get home, so I pulled into a side street and fed Oliver in the car. It took awhile for him to settle, but eventually he fell asleep and we made it home in peace :). Phew!

Hey girls!!!! I haven't posted in here for so long. I keep up with the 16th-31st jan group as they were my original group, its hard enough keeping up with them let alone you girls ;)
You all seem to be doing great... I've read a few of your posts now and then when I have the time....
Ava and I are going great.... I'm really getting the hang of being a Mummy now and absolutely LOVE it. Even the sleepless nights I am not finding "as bad" anymore  first few weeks were a bit of a shock!! haha.... Ava usually feeds at 10pm ( i wake her) and then will sleep until 3 or 4am when she wants another feed. then goes down 30mins later and wakes again 7am. so i'm usualy only up once in the night.... sometimes twice.
She's been sick with her 2nd cold and cough this last 2 weeks :( so we've had some tough nights.... up every 2-3hrs like she was when she was really new!!! Oh i don't miss those nights anymore haha.....
Our breastfeeding is going well, we had a very hard start to it all, bad attachment low supply issues etc but things are really better now and I'm not having to express as much or even top her up for feeds as much anymore.... almost exclusively breastfeeding now :D
I'm sorry I dont' have time for personals but just wanted to touch base and say :hello:
Hope to post more often and keep up with you all.... xoxo mwah!

'ello ladies!
Moose: wow thats pritty cool! its always interesting to hear storys like that! has a light flickered yet?
jords: hah i am SO with you and the in-ability to stear prams! i need "L" on the forunt and back! as for letting bubs cry...darren is almost 3 months old and i STILL sleep in his room 0_o your MIL would hate me!
Sterla: woo for DH looking after oli on his own! im glad he got some time with him. i know my DH loves spending time with daz when "he's fed and happy" lol. paps a fantasic arent they? :wall: why is it us women who always get poked, proded, proped and pr!cked?
Ren: Yay your still around (in another bb grp!) glad to hear ava is doing good! after all the b/f issues you've had!
AFM: well i was right the last week = :pms: haha poor DH coped it last early thismoring he came into say goodmoring to Daz and i and i got all craky with him  plus i also had what i think was the remainder of a wisdom tooth coming in so i was not only PMS-y but kinda teetheing as well! the funniest thing? i think i prefer labour pains to period pain! as for daz well he's found his 'voice' last night and today he's been making thease burbleing sounds like "i-yayayayayayay- gah" i got it on video thisavro...i was trying *very* hard not to laugh! DH and i also picked up daz's cot last night and put it up today. he looks so much smaller in a cot! he's currently sleeping in there now...i just need to get some flanett cot sheets for him!
Does any one know if getting ones A/F back can change the breast milk? with the EBM daz seems to be fussing alot...
question - has any one else talked about when they're going to have more kids? DH i where talking about it today and i said 18months then i'd like to (for the first time LOL) try for a second bub...and he suggested i look up the BB for how to help sway it so we have a higher chance of having a girl LOL...
oo i better go...dinners here!
-
Hey girls, im still around but just working on a very big project of mine so wont be posting much for little bit.
Orson is well. Sleeping has gotten better again during the night.
-
Renstar: Great to see you still around :D. Ava is absolutely gorgeous!!! I'm so glad that b/feeding is going well for you now. It is hard enough to keep up with the BB groups, you're doing well even attempting to keep up with two! That's great that you're loving mummyhood!
Blip: How cute that Daz has found his voice! Oh, and I know what you mean about Daz looking smaller in the cot. Oliver looks teeny tiny in his cot - there's certainly room for him to grow!
Sorry, no idea whether AF can affect breast milk. It could with changes in hormone levels maybe?
DH and I have sort of talked about when we'd like the next bub. I'm thinking we might start trying after Oliver has turned 1, and we too will be hoping for a girl :).
Antheia: I'm intrigued. Hope you and Orson stay well.
AFM: Had a pretty low-key weekend. Saw my family a bit and DH saw a couple of his mates. Oliver has been a little bit fussy today, just cause he's tired I think. I left Oliver with DH while I had a shower today, and as soon as I turned off the water could hear Oliver screaming. When he gets like that absolutely no one but me can calm him down. DH handed Oliver to me and he instantly settled, which was great, but made DH feel pretty crappy :(. He wants to help so much, but Oliver is very much mummy's boy right now.
Oh, and Oliver had a stinky poo today (lovely what we talk about, huh?). Usually it doesn't really smell bad, but it did today. I'm wondering if something I ate upset his tummy a bit? Don't know.
I'm off to see a LC tomorrow about the nipple shield thing. It will be good if we can make some progress, but if we don't that's okay too as things are still going well.
I hope you lovely mummies and bubbas had a great weekend :D.
