Happy birthday!!!!
hope u had a fantastic day xx
thank you girls for the birthday wishes! means alot to me!
i got the best birthday pressie i could have asked for - darren got his toung tie cut!! i did half a feed with out a sheld and good attchment (my aunt was in the ABA when it was nurseing mothers and helped me out!) hopefully darren will do a full feed (he missed half of one 'cus he was over tired and his toung was sore the poor bugger) tomorrow i see my LC about no-nipple sheald feeding which i feel is 100% possable! i almost cried when they cut the toung tie - i cant handle hearing darren cry. but the doc who did it was fantasic and funny (he told chris when i didnt want any more kiddletts he'd do the 'snip' for him...his busness card has "dr Snip it" on it!)
the second best pressie is what chris got me; Kaz coookes "kid wrangleing" ... now i just have to find time to read it! hahaha
Hope you all have a lovely night!
Blip: Glad you had a fantastic day! That's great that Darren got his tongue tie snipped. I hope the feeding continues to improve! :D I love those Kaz Cooke books. I have Up The Duff and Kid Wrangling, and have found both informative and highly amusing!
AFM: Oliver and I went in for our 6 week post natal check today. That was all okay... except we ended up getting him vaccinated today instead of at 8 weeks (doctor said something about a whooping cough epidemic and them encouraging parents to get bubs vaccinated earlier). Oh, it was awful watching Oliver in so much pain! I nearly cried :(. He was good though and settled fairly quickly after - but he's not happy tonight. His leg is all red and swollen from where he had one of the injections. We've given him some baby panadol - hopefully that will do the trick.
baby_blip - Glad Darren got the tongue tie cut ok. Hope it isn't too sore for him. Hope you had a good birthday.
sterla - oushies on the vaccinations! Poor bubba. I hated seeing my kids get them but have decided to not get them anymore so thankfully won't have to see that.
AFM - Orson won't go down to sleep tonight! He is sitting in his swing whinging cause he keeps losing his dummy. I have been awake since 5am this morning which is so not me. Thank god it's the weekend and DH is home for 2 days!
I was recommended a great site the other day and i think you should all visit it. Just google kellymom. It's all about breastfeeding. Do's and don'ts, what to expect and what's normal.. It's a very interesting and great read.
hello ladies! dammit i just wrote a big post and my internet stuffed up and got rid of it,argh!!
Happy (late) Birthday BabyBlip, hope you had a lovely day!
Thankyou laura133 and Sterla for the abbreviation education.
Has anyone other than Sterla's bub Oliver had their 8week vaccine yet? We are booked in for this wed and im so not looking forward to it :( i read somewhere that a study done found babies felt less pain during a pric.k if they were breastfed when it was happening... has anyone tried this??
hope everyone had a great weekend :)
Antheia: It was awful watching Oliver get his injection, but he's such a good bub - he was back to his normal happy self by the next day! That site sounds great, I'll have to check it out :).
Jords: I've heard that about breastfeeding while they get the needle, and tried it in hospital, but to be honest Oliver still got really upset. It would probably be more helpful calming bub after the needle. Be sure to pick up some baby panadol - it helped Oliver (and us) heaps. Good luck on Wednesday.
AFM: It's been over 6 weeks since my c/s, so I'm back behind the wheel and loving it! I love having my independence back. Oliver and I have been on a few nice outings today :D.
I hope everyone is well.
have updated our list.
hi all sorry i have been MIA having dramas here!
Lach is doing great getting him weighed and measured next week!
Will try and get back once things calm down!
So quiet around here..
Orson and i are finally getting the hang of this breastfeeding business. He gets weighed again tomorrow so hopfully it's a good gain.
I'm still struggling with BF in public though. Mainly because i just cannot get comfy or hold Orson properly. Anyone else have this problem?
Today is DH's birthday. He thinks he is old, haha! He is only 23. I had no idea what to buy him so i just got him a book he wanted and $300 to put towards upgrading his computer. Spose i better buy him a cake too although not sure where to get that from..
good morning Antheia, Melaniekate and all :)
it must be a male thing, my dp turs 25 in july and was saying only last night that he was getting old (!!) im stoked with this age though(24) and have never been happier, especially now we have our bub Winter here :)
How much did Orson weigh last? Im not too stoked with bf in public either, with getting comfy i usually stick a spare muslin or cloth nappy under my arm and just use it like a cusion...
As for a cake, not sure what your budget is but ive had both the chocolate and caramel mud cakes from woolies bakery, they are cheap as but really tasty... they arent that flash looking though....
Argh,8 week vaccine today, terrified :(
Last week Orson had put on 210g which brought his weight up to 3.6kg. He was born 4.1kg but dropped down to 3.4kg by 4 weeks. So he still isn't back to his birth weight at almost 7 weeks. That's why he is being breastfed and given formula top ups.I am hoping he has regained his birth weight now so i can get rid of the formula but im not counting on because that'd be 500g in one week and that's impossible!
MelanieKate: Hope everything is okay. Glad Lachlan is doing well :).
Antheia: That's fantastic that you and Orson are getting better with b/f! I hope he's gained heaps. You never know - he might gain 500g in a week, Oliver did that once! Men are so hard to buy for, aren't they! I'm sure your DH will love his gifts. :D
Jords: Good luck with the needles today. I hope your bub copes well with it.
AFM: I think Oliver is having a growth spurt. The last couple of days he was feeding every 2 hours - I was a very tired mummy! Then, last night he slept for 6 and a half hours straight! Pure bliss :D.
'ello my lovies
sorry i've been MIA...i'll explain :P
sterla : aww about oli..and YAY for driving again...its very strange not being able to drive isn't! glad to see Oli is growing!
MelanieKate: sounds like your man's agrowin'!
Anthiea: its quite cus i've been away! hehe
AFM: the long and short of it. daz ended up back in hospital with "failure to thrive". so they moniterd us for 2days (i staied with daz and didnt leave the hospital once) and then changed our ruteains as in daz went from getting 120mls per feed of EBM to 100. six times a day.(so saterday sunday he was having around 740mls aday to monday/tuesday having 600mls aday...) so we had a bad day monday and alright day tuesday and last night i've never seen him so bad. so i scared the pead into letting us go home when he asked how my night was last night i said "Bloody cruddy thats what my sons been going to bed hungry and not sleeping or settleing i walked the floor with him for almost 4hrs and he got maybe 45mins to an hours sleep his feeds where dismal." he asked what i would do and i said "feed him as often as he wants (provided that its a feed time) and within a ruteain. (and im thinking the sleep, feed, play, feed, sleep one works best!) and i told him i'd express as much as i could before each feed and give him that. plus if need be a top up for formular as i belived my body is doing what it should be and produseing differant quantitys of milk depending on the time of day. so he agreed and said that they'd keep a close eye on daz and i to make sure it works! which made me  almost. as on monday i had a head on with a head of nurseing and my father almost got kicked off the ward for commenting that if daz was fully Bf how'd they know what to give him! she didnt have a reply and told dad to get out of her face...this was after i told her the weekend he was perfict and what they where doing was horrable and crule she told me what i was doing was failing to work and they needed darren to feed (i'm getting flustred thinking about it!)
but now im off to slowly wake up my daz and give him a bottle and see how we go (or wait until after 4 so he can have an hour and a halfs sleep before this feed as we woke him when we bought him home -again- from the hossy!) Ohh and the toung tie went really well...he now has a toung to poke out at me and Chris!
Hello everyone,
Man, we've been soo busy. As you know we went off to Brissie for a wedding and we had a great time, nana was in heaven looking after her granddaughter and we were busy showing Sammy off to all of DH's friends ( he is from Brissie originally) The car trips were ok, 16 hours on the way up as we stopped to visit a few peeps along the way and 14 hours on the way down, that was stopping every 2 to 2.5 hours to let Sammy out of the capsule. When we hit Kempsey, I got a whiff of pooey nappy and mentionned it to DH, he reached back to get Sam her dummy as she was fussing and he saw yellow, a lot of it, so we pulled an emergency stop on the side of the highway and OMG, she had pooed ALL over the car seat and herself poor little possum. So we had to do an emergency clean up on the side of the highway LOL! Not pretty but luckily enough, she pooed mostly on herself and the head rest as opposed to carseat itself, so we were able to do a decent clean up with baby wipes. The rest of the trip went pretty uneventful apart from Sammy being crabby the next day, which we were expecting anyway.
We went to the paed yesterday and got thumbs up all around. She has gained just under 1 kg since her birth and has grown 9 cm. Basically, we got the clean bill of health and that made us very happy!
I have just bought into a working at home business whilst we were on the Gold Coast as well , so will be busy for the next while getting that up and running. We also had the lady from the church coming around today to discuss Sammy baptism, so I am a busy mummy indeed! Been reading all your posts and will keep on doing so but may not post as often ( will try my best!!)
Will do personals later, Sammy is chucking the biggest tanty not to go to bed and it seems "the boob" aka me must attend to the job!
Mxx
How are all you lovely mummies?
Oliver and I are good. Oliver is still gaining well - he had a check up yesterday and is now 5.12kg and 58cm long (so he's gained a bit over 2kg since birth, and has grown 8cm). He was great at the check up - nice and calm and talking away to the nurse :). He's smiling heaps, I love it!
DH and I also have big news. We made an offer on a house yesterday, and it was accepted! So, providing all goes well, we'll be homeowners within the next couple of months!
I hope all you mummies and babies are well :).
WOOOHOOO
thats fantastic sterla!
BBL for personals
Congratulations Sterla!! Thats fantastic news! Glad to see Oliver is doing so well, are you still using the nipple shields?
AFM: Sammy had her shots last Friday and was a bit under the weather this week-end, sleeping lots an just more clingy than usual ( I didn't mind that too much!!) DH and I I also got us jabbed with the Whooping cough booster as well. we're getting all grandparents & friends we see often jabbed too whilst its free. Sammy is such a good baby, I am very lucky. She is also smiling and has started to purposely box and kick the dangly bits in her play gym. She's gonna be a little fighter I reckon! The only thing we can't seem to get under complete control is her nightly sleep routine.
DH and I always do the same thing from 5pm, feed, little play, nap ( only 30 min usually) bath around 6-6:30. bit of play, downtimeand top up feed at 7.Thats been working great and she was usually asleep within 30-45 minutes and slept til 3 and sometimes even 5:30 am. However, the last week or so, we've been getting a really bad witching hour that last for AGES. She's been up til 9 on a few nights now. I'm sure its probably just a phase but then last night she only slept til midnight, and then up at 3 and then up again at 7 , which she has NEVER done, the midinght feed....hope its not the start of a new trend...anyone else is experiencing this?? I used the dreamfeed for a while but she skept waking up at 3am hungry anyway, so my EC nurse said not to bother and I would have to wein her off it in the long run anyway and she didn't seem to need it.
I;ve also decided to put the business we looked into on the back burner for at least 6 months. I realised that A. I would not really have the time to invest in it. B. I want to enjoy my mat leave, after all its only been 3 month of which only 2 since Sammy has been born.C. I want to focus on getting myself fit and back to a slimer weight by the end of this year..I've got approx 25 kilos to lose.
So I reckon the last thing I need is to be worrying about a business.
Hope everyone is doing well and enjoying their bub still! My mothers group starts tomorrow arvo, looking forward to see if there are any mums that I will get along with. Anyone else has had the MG started??
Mxx
goood moring ladies!
Stelra: Congrats on the house! how exciteing for you and your DH! its so funky when you get your own place (as my DH said ..."i can put on ahole in the wall and not worry about it!" .. which i promptly did taking out a picture hook :P )
Moose: aww about the shots! good i idea to get people around you jabbed too! darrens getting his shots next week ( at 9 weeks cus he was stil in hospital last week and i want some fat on 'em bones before he has 'em) sounds like Sam's doing what daz dose! ,mind you DH and i dont do the same thing every night..but maybe sammy is heading for a growth spert? so she's wanting more food? and as for the witching hour - maybe she's got better eye sight and can see more so is more...stimulated?
i think my MG starts next week...but im not sure!
AFM: darrens been good. his feeds are going really well (he's having at least two lots of 200ml aday!) he's also getting fat (thank gawd!) and just being a 'normal' baby. he discovered his hands last night and i got a cute photo of him trying to shove BOTH in his mouth at once! hah. the only thing im having issues with is expressing! darren seems to LOVE saying up for an hour atfer his feed...which is good..but MY BOOBS almost explode by the time he goes down! but then again before i expressed and got 220ml out...(so 110 a side :o ) but its good because it means daz is only getting one forumluar feed (normaly the 3am one...which was at 4am untill Daylight savings ended :wall: ) he's also a smarty pants and when i put him down at 10pm (he sleeps from 5pm till 8:30pm ..ish..and then had a feed from 9 till 10..) he'll sleep in his basent untill 1am then wake up for a nappy change and wont settle untless hes in bed with me then sleeps untill 3am! Ohh and im doing somthing for me today...im dying my hair! im not going to be a blondie any more! im going "mocha brown" (DH wanted black i wanted red...so this is in the middle!) woo i better go wash it out!
